I wanted to present a series of works by Canadian composers, bring them to KW to meet our community, work with the Orchestra and engage with our audiences. These are all deeply personal choices for me. After going through many scores, I chose my favourites. Some of the works are by established composers, some are by composers who are just making their mark, and some are Canadians whose work is played mostly abroad. I’m thrilled to introduce or reintroduce these composers to you, and to share their inspiring work with our community! — Edwin Outwater, Music Director

“Being in the KWS Youth Orchestra Program has truly inspired me as a musician. The repertoire is always an exciting challenge, and I have learned so much not only from the incredibly talented conductors and coaches, but also from the friends I have made throughout the years. All these memories will last a lifetime. Deciding to join the YOP is one of the best decisions I have ever made.” — Julia Clements (Youth Orchestra member)

“The Youth Orchestra Program is such a rich part of our community. The kids learn team work, self-discipline, goal setting and the joy of reaching those goals.” — Trina Nadeau (Parent of a Preludium Strings member)
