Real-world knowledge. Résumé-worthy experience. The students conducted research for us and created several case scenarios for new wineries. I was impressed with the energy of the students and the quality of their research and analysis.

Experiential learning is part of our culture. Here, students learn winemaking at the source.

Students bring a new wine to market BRONCONESS Courage and enthusiasm, especially when sustained. 100% of profit goes to aspiring leaders who find their Bronconess.

How do you create a purposedriven brand that speaks to consumers and generates sales to support scholarships? That’s the question students at WMU’s Center for Principled Leadership and Business Strategy answered as they determined the feasibility of launching a cause-driven, micro-local wine in Michigan.

The students hope to see the idea of “Bronconess” go beyond the project and become an inspiring point of pride for WMU students and alumni. Bronconess comes in three varieties and is available at several Kalamazoo restaurants, WMU events and venues, and retail outlets.

Pursue

The student teams looked at every aspect of bringing a new wine brand to market, from researching consumer profiles to differentiating the brand. The wine brand, called Bronconess, hit restaurants and stores last fall. The name represents the broader concept of how Broncos put passion and purpose into their work.

I knew Broadway was where I wanted to be. Tyler Theater Management

The road to Broadway goes straight through Kalamazoo. For Tyler Siems, the leap from Kalamazoo classroom to Broadway stage came sooner than expected. He was able to seize the opportunity and still graduate on time.

The help and support of his Western mentors made a dramatic difference. They went “off script” to specially design online courses so he could finish his degree while working in Manhattan on the stages of Hamilton, then Wicked. Tyler’s success is earning him ovations and proving that having the right cast in place can make all the difference.
