The coolest thing about my research is knowing that it is actually being put into practice at NASA.
Margaret Mooney, 2018 BSE, Aerospace Engineering R
For someone named Margaret Mooney, working on lunar missions seems written in the stars. She found harmony in two distinct fields: aerospace engineering and vocal performance. Her music education helped her think creatively in the lab. Now the propulsion technology she helped develop here at Western will be used in NASA’s Artemis lunar program and at the Gateway lunar outpost, a transit point for future space exploration. With the mentorship of Dr. Kristina Lemmer, Margaret gained unique research experience and prestigious internships at the Naval Research Laboratory and NASA’s Glenn Research Center. Today, Margaret has a fellowship with NASA rocketing toward a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL PATHWAYS
ACCELERATED PROGRAMS
WMU has several pre-professional pathways, & advisors will work with students to determine a study plan in the post-graduate program of their choice: Pre-Chiropractic Pre-Dental Pre-Forensic Science Pre-Law Pre-Medical Pre-Optometry Pre-Pharmacy Pre-Physical Therapy Pre-Physician Assistant Pre-Public Health Pre-Secondary Education* Pre-Veterinary
wmich.edu/grad/academics/accelerated-programs
*The pre-secondary education pathway includes completion of an undergraduate content major through the College of Arts and Sciences. It will prepare students for post-baccalaureate teaching certification programs, such as the M.A. in Secondary Education through the College of Education and Human Development. See wmich.edu/teaching/secondary for details. Majors are subject to change.
Accelerated degree programs give students the opportunity to complete a graduate degree in less time because they begin taking graduate courses while still an undergraduate. During their undergraduate senior year, students in an accelerated program may take up to 12 credit hours of graduate course work, which also count toward their undergraduate degree. Once they enter graduate school, they’re able to more quickly complete requirements for their master’s or doctoral degree. Aerospace Engineering (M.S.)
