rie h d u o h C r o Dr. Vict

Dr.

Victor Choudhrie of the Starfish Alliance ministry in Padhar, India has set aside Pentecost 2012 (May 27) as a day to be fruitful and multiply. He has issued a challenge to the Church around the globe to make disciples on that day – and to pray in the months leading up to this event. Pentecost, Dr. Choudhrie notes, is the birthday of the Church. It is also a harvest festival in the Jewish calendar. “Our Lord changed it into a harvest of souls. “Three thousand families were baptized, who immediately started meeting in homes where they had apostolic teaching, fellowship, prayer and broke bread. This resulted in signs and miracles, sharing of material blessings and daily addition of new souls. (Acts 4 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

2:37-47) Very soon, an additional 5,000 families were added (Acts 4:4). Soon the new believers became disciples and multiplied (Acts 6:1,7). “The best way to celebrate the birthday of the church is to replicate the original first Pentecost – i.e. to reap a huge harvest of souls. Aim at baptizing at least 3,000 souls. And why not! After all, you believe in a great and awesome God for whom nothing is impossible.” Dr. Choudhrie has seen God do the seemingly impossible in India: enabling the Starfish Alliance to baptize 1 million people between Pentecost 2009 and Pentecost 2010. “Every Christian is ‘ordained’ to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord. The best way to fulfill that Command is to bring forth lasting fruit (John 15:16).” www.WIN1040.com

Ask Him to continue doing great and marvelous works and to bring forth a great harvest of souls in the 10/40 Window. he Arab Spring that erupted in January 2011 swept across North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Middle East, toppling leaders and igniting civil wars. Even Libya’s infamous dictator, Moammar al-Qadhafi, was unable to survive it. Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria… all these nations were affected by the popular demand for reform. Which is why it is so interesting to note that Saudi Arabia somehow sidestepped the massive wave of protests. 8 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

Is it because Saudis are so happy with their government? Or is there another reason? There are probably many reasons Saudi Arabia has not yet seen popular demonstrations. But one of the principle reasons could be fear. The absolute monarchy of King Abdullah rules the nation with an iron fist. A recent article in the Boston Review noted that some inside Saudi Arabia desired to join the protests and demand change. One case was a young Saudi man who posted a YouTube video “calling for democracy, human rights, and more jobs.” Just days before the “Day of Rage” dissidents had planned in Saudi April 2012

Arabia, the man was arrested by plainclothes security. “The message was clear. March 11 – the intended ‘Day of Rage’ – came and went without mass protest. [The young man] disappeared without a trace.” King Abdullah assumed the throne in 2005. His half-brother, Crown Prince Nayif, is in charge of internal security. Together, they are using force and intimidation to maintain control. “If the delayed Arab Spring eventually reaches Saudi,” a Saudiborn professor notes, “it will likely be a bloody affair.” Sources: The Boston Review,

Miracles are born. O

n July 2, 2011, something extraordinary occurred at Padhar Hospital in Madhya Pradesh, India. Two baby girls were delivered 6 weeks early by emergency C-section. Beyond the miracle of their birth, the two girls, Stuti and Aradhana, are conjoined twins. More specifically, they are thoracophagus – united in the sternum region (chest) with separate limbs. They also have separate hearts and lungs. According to a report from Padhar Hospital, Stuti and Aradhana are growing well. “Since no vital 10 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

organs are shared,” the surgeon’s assessment says, “surgical separation of these twins seems feasible.” Two teams of specialists will perform this surgery in April 2012. It is expected to take 6-8 hours. “These special babies are abandoned girl children,” explains Padhar Hospital CEO, Dr. Rajiv Choudhrie, “who have this surgically correctable deformity. We seek your help in managing this and also ask that you keep the team and Stuti and Aradhana in your prayers.”

The problem with this arrangement is simple: the girl traded to defuse the situation suffers greatly. She not only must leave her home and parents to live with another family, but she is often abused.

The tradition of “baad” sounds outrageous to most people. But to the Pushtun tribes of Afghanistan, it is a common practice. In fact, it is believed that baad prevents murder, revenge killing, and even wars.

indow International Network (WIN) is launching a new initiative, calling Christians around the world to pray for Saudi Arabia. While WIN will continue to mobilize prayer for the entire 10/40 Window, Saudi Arabia will be the focus of intensive prayer. WIN’s leadership has been mobilizing prayer for the 10/40 Window since 1993. On March 15, 2012, for the first time, WIN will launch a campaign targeting a specific nation: Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Islam and the keeper of that faith. It is also violently opposed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the wake of the Arab Spring, with political unrest and spiritual dissatisfaction simmering in this region, WIN believes the Lord is preparing to move powerfully in Saudi 30 | The 10/40 Window Reporter

t was like something out of a movie: twenty-three prisoners escaping through a 140-meter tunnel. But this wasn’t fiction. And the prisoners who tunneled out weren’t ordinary criminals. They were terrorists. All twenty-three of the men who escaped from a detention facility in Sana’a, Yemen in 2006 were al-Qaeda operatives. Some had been involved in the attack on an American destroyer, the USS Cole. In 2009, many of these escapees joined operatives from Saudi Arabia to form a new terrorist organization: al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). According to the National Counterterrorism Center, “Yemen-based al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula since 2009 has orchestrated high-profile attacks and expanded its activities outside of Yemen.” Imam Anwar al-Awlaki is believed to have been one of the main leaders of AQAP. He was described as the “bin Laden of the Internet” by the Saudi press. Officials say he was involved in the 9/11 attacks and preached to both the Fort Hood shooter and the Christmas Day bomber. Al-Awlaki was the regional

According to experts, Yemen is the perfect base for AQAP because of its political instability and the popular support radicals receive from citizens. “Weapons, training, crossing points and the launch of operations have all come from Yemen,” says a terrorism specialist. Yemen is now “the third-largest haven” for al-Qaeda. AQAP is considered to be the best-funded al-Qaeda affiliate and is increasingly active. Turkey Tarjah: Merhaba WindowKids! Greetings from Turkey!

April is an exciting month in my country. In April we celebrate International Children’s Day. It has been an official national holiday in Turkey since the 1920s. Each year on April 23, children from schools across Turkey organize and participate in week-long ceremonies. They often give performances in large stadiums and the entire nation takes time to watch! On April 23, children also replace government officials. Even the President, Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, and governors turn over their positions to child representatives! These young people come together to sign executive orders relating to education, the environment, and other issues impacting children. Don’t you think that would be fun? Are you wondering why it’s called International Children’s Day? That’s because the holiday isn’t just for Turkish children. It’s for children all over the world. Children from many nations celebrate this special day. On April 23, we take time to let the country— and the world—know that children are important. They are the future! Did you know that many Jews and Christians around the world will be celebrating a Biblical holiday called “Passover” this month? It is a very special time to remember God’s deliverance of the Hebrews from Egypt thousands of years ago. It also reminds us of Jesus the Messiah, the ultimate Passover Lamb. Passover was first mentioned in the book of Exodus. On Passover, God delivered the Hebrews. It has been celebrated ever since. The story of the Passover in the Bible is read every year during a special meal called a Seder. The story of the Passover includes: 1) The birth and life of Moses in Egypt 2) The evil plans of the Pharaoh to kill Hebrew children 3) Moses fleeing to Midian 4) The story of the burning bush 5) Moses returning to Egypt to command Pharaoh to let the Hebrews go 6) The Ten Plagues 7) The Hebrews leaving Egypt to escape slavery As Christians, we celebrate Jesus the Messiah as our Passover Lamb. During this season, we need to remember how God delivered us and brought us into relationship with Himself!

The following Scriptures are part of the Passover story. Take some time this month to read these verses with your family and classmates. Remember, Passover is an eight-day celebration, so here are eight days of Scripture readings!

Pray for these children to know the love of Jesus Christ.

Ask the Lord to give Christian children boldness to share their faith with friends and family.

Pray for their protection. “Lord, let this be a generation that knows Jesus and shares His love with the people of Turkey.”
