Nebulas is an avant-garde fashion collection based on drawing from the beauty of ma engineering and the beauty of draped classical statues. The designs explore abstract shapes, sculptural silhouettes and unexpected fabric
combinations suggesting a concept related to travel and exploration by sea. The evenin
collection is also inspired by one of my favourite french songs “Voyage Voyage” by De (Claudie Fritsch-Mentrop) with lyrics about travelling - travelling to many beautiful destinations in the world.

Each garment in NEBULAS embraces asymmetry, movement and juxtaposition of hard and soft textures, echoing the dynamic relationship between vessels and the elements they traverse. The avant-garde essence captures the mystique and wonder of voyages into the unknown, and it’s daring approach to fashion invites viewers to embark on a transformative satorial experience. 17

design concept NEBULAS draws inspiration from the beauty and craftmanship of the architectural elements of ships, the collection’s avant-garde elements take the audience on a journey through the uncharted waters. It seeks to blur the boundaries between fashion and architecture, reflecting the spirit of exploration and adventure. English wooden ships have captivated my imagination through their intricate interior structure, particularly drawing from a shipwright in William Sutherland’s book (1711) which shows the precise technical manufacturing of the ship’s centreline structures that create interesting shapes and forms. (Trevor Kenchington). Embracing the structural beauty of master ship builders, the collection utilises a palette of metallic and neutral variants such as grey, taupe, charcoal and black highlighting undulating lines and elements such as pleating, tucks and rhythmic exposed boning with transparent meshes and opaque taffeta. The designs feature a mix of flowing silhouettes and sculptural elements with fabric manipulation on bodices, skirts and stretch pieces representing the flow of the ocean and the frame of the ship. Just like the intricacy of the planks and the beauty of a well-crafted boat, the construction techniques used in this eveningwear collection are seeking to create a sense of wonder, defying gravity and echoing the expertise of a shipwright, the flow of drapery and the undulation of wind and water.
