A homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past. A country that was never in my blood but will always be the origin of finding me. This collection is dedicated to the deeply influential time capsule of my childhood in Bahrain. The Kingdom of Bahrain, is an island country situated in the Persian Gulf (Gordon, Charles & Smith,2023). An unapologetic fusion of contemporary and traditional practices. Blended cultures and beliefs, from innovative modernity to preservation of traditional crafts. such as basket weaving, pottery, textiles manufacturing and pearl diving. Revolving around my memories embodies the reincarnation of my lost places. This collection ignites opulence, warmth and intensity. The hero look of this “Eva” is derived from the story of Adam and Eve. From a historical lens many speculate Bahrain is believed to be the abrahamic location of the garden of Eden. As well as the spiritual significance of the island’s greatest mystery, the tree of life. There is a tree which is over 400 years old (Middleton, 2023) and stands solemnly in the middle of the desert without any water sources nearby. Eva is a metaphor for the juxtaposition of love and grief I feel for the lost place of my past. Eva contrasts the connotations of formal and romantic fabrics with illusive tulle which creates both volume and vulnerability. The monochromatic look is the focal point of the jewel tone colour palette. This is indicative of trends with the 2023 forecast (Trend union/Edelkoort, 2023). This colour palette exudes moodiness and disrupts the ordinary. The demanding nature of the monochromatic red and immense texture creates a look which demands attention and reverence. This collection targets a couture appreciative consumer. This target market is economically capable of investing into a multifaceted story as well as the highest quality textiles and finishes.
