#4 A.C.A.B. issue

Editorial Fourth issue babe, summer is over, I hope you have traveled a bit! there are plenty of cities to skate. If you’ve been back once again to Barcelona, you’ve probably partied too much, didn’t skate as much as you thought and certainly get annoyed by those bastard catalans cops. But of course, you have probably met some people with the Passion. True passion like Dallas has. I feel lucky to have crossed his path and thanks him to help me to not forget what skateboard is all about and why I did start to skate myself.

Cover : Dallas, early grab, 7 blocs.

I’ve been skating since I was 16 in march of 1997. I started skating because i liked sitting with the rock and roll kids, the losers, the skate rats at the lunch table in high school. I didnt like the jocks. The football and basketball players. I still wanted to run and jump on everything, so skateboarding made a lot of sense to me. I have always just had a strong fascination towards it. It is perfect for me.

Dallas ‘‘Billy Bob’’ Bailey Text by Dallas

I started delivering pizza because it was fast money and really flexible schedule. Perfect for a skateboarder i thought. Even as a pizza delivery dude, I take my adventurous heart and search new spots on a daily basis. Traveling, curiousity, and adventure is in my heart. Even within the town i have lived in for 9 years, I try to look at everything with new eyes. A fresh point of view. With wonder and curiosity. If over 13 years of consistent travel has taught me one thing, it is to be always curious, open, and brave. To be the individual I was born to be. 13 years later I still feel the same. Like I can live in a hostel, ride on buses, trains, planes, cars, and skateboards forever.

I took my first road trip across the States to California in 2001: 6 weeks on the road skating and seeing amazing things for the first time. It was only supposed to be a one week trip to Colorado. When we got to Arizona, we ran out of money, and food. We spent the last 20 dollars to get into the Grand Canyon. We hustled our money and food from there to California and back again to Indiana. That was a game changing road trip. I remember thinking I could live in a car skating the country forever. Many road trips followed. From 2001 to 2008 I had spent approximately one year of my young life living in a car on some coast, some mountain, the middle of a desert, or a random parking lot. I was thirsty for ultimate adventures. I was a true road dog.

2008 my girlfriend from that time bought me a ticket to Barcelona Spain. It was the second revolution of traveling for me. The limits I thought I had were gone. THE SKY WAS NO LONGER THE LIMIT. IT WAS THE MEANS TO AN END. My eyes were completely open! New horizons! New places, new friends and new places and new spots to rip. Some of my nearest and dearest friends live in Barcelona Spain, Buenos Aires Argentina, Santiago Chile, Milan Italy, Sao Paolo Brazil, Ljubljana Slovenia, Denver Colorado, Chicago Illinois, New york city, San Francisco California, and more. I’ve seen some of the most beautiful sights in the world with a skateboard in my hand.

Carlos, Maracucho and Thomas in Close Encounters of the Third Latin. They have been sometimes one after the other and sometimes together living with Mark Frölich. Let’s see what they say about this flatmates experience. Mark says that Maracucho is definitely the one who skate the most, who’s the loudest and probably the one who brings more chicks home. Carlos would be the dirtiest and Thomas the best cook.

Carlos: I think Maracucho is the loudest and the dirtiest and Thomas is the best cook. I think Maracucho might skate a bit more often than us, but there’s probably not a big difference. For sure Maracucho kills it with the girls.

Thomas: For sure Maracucho is the loudest, Carlos might be the dirtiest and the best cook. I don’t think anyone skate the most, we are all even. Maracucho is probably the one who brings the most girls, anyway I’m out of the game, I have a girlfriend.

Maracucho: I’ve never lived with Thomas so I would say Carlos is the dirtiest but the best cook as well. I think I’m the one who skate the most and the loudest in the house. I’m definitely the Lady killer.

Siracusa, Mauro, Bs lip inside. Italia is food heaven. The more you explore the more amazing things you discover. Pizzas, pastries, ice-creams, coffeE, pasta... and spots.

Shanghai, Henrick, ollie over bs nose

The dragoon will wake up and burn us down. Yes, but don’t worry they will still built your next smartphone, they will stay world’s slaves as long as we are consuming one. Neither their nor our governements want to change this.

Nothingham, Bambi, wallride nollie. English skaters are the nicest! probably as nice as the drunk Hooligans are retarded. Spots always look so cool there, but everything is so rough... Now I understand why Robin Hood prefered to live in the hood.

All Barcelona Cops Are Bastards Catalans cops still act like Spain was a dictature

I was watching a TV show with cops and thieves, talking about crooked cops. this thug said:’’You have to follow the rules! There is no beauty in being a crooked cop, you play half of some rules and half of the others’’ I think it kind of sums up why I hate Barca’s pigs so much. I always have the feeling they are not trying to make you follow any rule (and it seems like there is no precise rule about skateboarding) but they’re only looking for respect, like someone who’s missing some when he’s not wearing the uniform. I feel nothing but racism, anger and non-sense when they stop me and tell me how bad I’m behaving trying to roll on this wall or jumping down those stairs. I’ve even been said it’s illegal to shoot a picture without permit. I had many fines from skating, but none with the same amount and none with the same reason writen on it: nonsense! One day, a friend almost get a ticket from sleeping on the grass when kids where playing soccer on it. To try to clarify this, I went to a cop station to ask once and for all what’s do-able and what’s not. What’s clear now for me is that there is no law against skateboarding and they don’t know shit about what they’re doing out there.

I went there, saying I was in town for a week and wanted to visit the city rolling around shooting pictures of the monuments.

The guy was so confused trying to answer to my basics questions, he had to ask around and next thing I know there is at least 5 cops arguing with each other about how to answer. I guess it proves enough how ignorants they are. Just to name a few here are something contradiction of them. They basically said it’s allowed to roll on the sidewalk but not too fast (what kind of law is that?!) but I had a 500 Euros ticket from rolling down Passeig de Gracia’s sidewalk. It’s totally allowed to shoot amateur pictures everywhere in Barcelona, but we had a 700 Euros fine shooting an ollie in Cornelia. They said the placa is kind of a trademark (don’t ask me what it means!) I was arrested once rolling on the road. The guy was desperately looking for a reason to fine me in his law book and calling the headquarter, but finally let me go. We had a fine skating in the Harbour zone because too many people were watching us. The guy fined us 50 euros and we payed 35 because of a discount! I wish I could tell in their face to fuck off!!
