The Weyburn Soccer Association presented their year-end team awards at a ceremony held on Aug. 30 at the Credit Union Spark Centre, along with their an nual general meeting. In addition, Kristina Junk was presented with the Enerplus Youth Leadership Award, and Lindsay DeWit won the Don Hillstead Vol unteer of the Year Award.

Kristina found a love for not only playing soccer but also for coaching as well. She also coached the young U5’s and assisted in many other age groups. Weyburn Red Wings take two preseason wins over Estevan Weyburn Wrestling to hold free clinic

The Wings had two quick goals in the first period about a minute apart, with scoring by William Jasmin and Cooper Chisholm. After Estevan briefly gained a 3-2 in the second period, Max Henderson tied the game, and in the thirdLucasperiod,Jeffreys of Wey burn scored with a tie by Estevan, leading to the shootout. Jasmin was the lone player out of six who scored, giving the Wings theTheirvictory.next game will be the regular season opener on Friday, Sept. 16 in Melville.

The Weyburn Wrestling Club is hosting a free wrest ling clinic for boys and girls aged six to 13 on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. The clinic is being held for any child in this age range who might be inter ested in joining the Weyburn Wrestling Club this season, to come try the sport out. The clinic is being held in the gym of the former Elgin School on First Avenue NW, at the west doors. A parent or guardian must be present when registering for the club. The first practice of the season is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The Weyburn Red Wings played their Highway 39 ri vals twice over the Labour Day weekend and won both games, winning 2-1 on Sat urday evening in Estevan, and 5-4 in a shootout in Weyburn on Monday night.

One last weekend on the beach Review Photo 9705 – Greg Nikkel Families enjoyed the warm sunshine on the beach at Nickle Lake Regional Park on Saturday afternoon, the last long weekend of the summer. The regional park also hosted singers Karissa Hoffart and Justin Lebrash for a concert on Saturday evening as the last event for the summer.

A group of young fans danced in front of the stage as Karissa Hoffart and her band performed an outdoor concert on Saturday evening, at Nickle Lake Regional Park. This was the second year in a row the park hosted the singer on the last long week end of the summer, with perfect weather for the three days.
