Dear audience,

Directors’ Note

Set in the hills of Scotland in the 1990s, The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort follows the tragic story of the victims of the Pan Am 103 plane crash and the families that were struck with the collateral damage. Madeline and Bill Livingston, the parents of one of the victims, return to the site of the crash in an attempt to obtain closure, but their grief is only heightened. Olive Alison and the rest of the women of Lockerbie find themselves offering tender advice to Bill and Madeline, all while seeking to resist the misguided wishes of a hardened American government employee. Written in the style of Greek tragedy, this story teaches a lesson in hope, love, and patience. The Women of Lockerbie is sure to leave a lasting impression on any audience’s tender hearts. We are delighted to bring The Women of Lockerbie to the virtual stage with a cast of amazing and talented peers. We’re both juniors at Western New England University and this will be our third year with the Stageless Players. Kayla is a Resident Advisor on campus, pursuing a major in Neuroscience as well as a double minor in Biology and Chemistry. She has previously performed as Heidi in Months on End, and she was succeeding in the role of Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia! before the pandemic struck with full force. Molly is a Psychology major with an Elementary Education minor, and in the past she has been seen as Maureen in RENT and was slated as Tanya alongside Kayla in Mamma Mia! We felt directing together was a challenge we were more than willing to take, and have infinite gratitude to those who helped us bring such a powerful work to Stageless. The process of developing this show began at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Filled with uncertainty and fear, we pursued our dream of directing a show together, taking each day as it came, in the hopes that we could make something come to fruition. We chose The Women of Lockerbie with the intention of challenging ourselves and the actors we would inevitably cast in these complex and emotional roles. In a COVID-friendly environment, we were able to encourage actors to take ownership of their characters and breathe life into this story in whatever way they deemed fit. This way, the production took on a life of its own. Although this show was grown in unprecedented times, we are remarkably proud of the cast and crew that made such a beautiful tale come to life. We were highly motivated by the passion of the actors, tech crew, and production team, and watching this show come alive has been an immensely rewarding and satisfying experience.

Sincerely, Kayla Curameng and Molly Doyle Directors

Technical Director’s Note Dear “virtual” audience, What a year. The last time we were able to present a show for you was the Fall of 2019. But here we are performing for you over the internet for the first time. This has been a time of uncertainty in every sense and when we returned to campus in person, all of the Stageless Players members were waiting to hear if we could do a show. And here we are. The actors, directors, and tech have put countless hours into this show despite everything going on. From virtual rehearsals and meetings, to the spread-out tech crew build, we’ve had to adapt our methods to make this work. All the actors have their own personal setups, so we have eight sets, duplicate props, and so many other solutions to have a safe show. This is my first show as Technical Director and there are so many people I must thank. First off, thank you to all of the E-board for welcoming with open arms in the middle of last semester and showing me how it is done. To all of the general technical crew members, thank you for showing up and giving 100% to the show every time we had a build day. You truly made this show the success it is with all of your hard work. Anthony, congratulations on your first show as a coordinator, it has been a pleasure to work with you. Jenna, as ATD (and costume coordinator on the down low) you have been an amazing help with all aspects of the show. Thank you for contributing your wealth of knowledge and reminding me of everything I forget. And last but certainly not least, Chris, you have been the best Techy ATD and basically right-hand man I could ask for. You taught me everything I could ever need to know about the tech crew as a freshman and trained me as your ATD last year, so it is obvious that I could not have done this without you. And I have one final thank you. To you, our audience. Being able to put on a great performance for everyone watching has been our driving motivation and that has helped us push through this semester. I hope you all enjoy the show, plus you can eat snacks during it!

Sincerely, Kathryn Henry Technical Director

She is very excited to show everyone all the hard work that the cast, crew, and directors put into this show. She hopes the audience enjoys the Scottish accents as it took some time for them to sound believable. Break a leg!
