134 Islamic Brass Astrolabe 18th-19th Century The mater cast in one piece with Arabic inscribed limb marked in degrees, a throne (kursĂŽ) with Arabic inscription and a carrying shackle and ring; the openwork movable projection of the ecliptic plane (rete) onto two interchangeable plates (tympan) with Arabic inscribed circular lines, pinned through the center; the back inscribed in Arabic with a variety of scales with rotating rule (alidada). CERAMICS 135 Two Iznik Polychrome Pottery Dishes Early 17th Century Each having a white body painted under the glaze in bolered, cobalt-blue, green and black with a dense floral spray comprising carnations, hyacinths and tulips around a central blue and red curling saz leaf; the reverse of the first with six alternating green flower heads and blue floral sprays; the second with eight alternating green flower heads and blue floral sprays. Each repaired; the first with rim reduced; the foot of the second with two drilled suspension holes. Diameter of first: 9-1/2 in (24.1 cm); Diameter of second: 12-1/4 in (31.1 cm) $1,000-$2,000

136 Iznik Polychrome Pottery Dish Early 17th Century The white body on a short foot, painted in underglazed bole-red, cobalt-blue, green and black with a dense floral spray comprising carnations, hyacinths and tulips around a central blue and red curling saz leaf, the border with floral and leaf sprays, the reverse with eight alternating green flower heads and blue floral sprays. Rim with scattered chips and fritting, three hairline cracks and one section repaired; foot drilled with two suspension holes. Diameter: 12-1/4 in (31.1 cm) $1,500-$2,000
