EKFB and HS2 update, February 2022

HS2 Construction Update

The end of 2021 saw the completion of the overnight piling works and the demolition of the bridge across the Chiltern Line. We worked under the possession of Network Rail, alongside their own improvement works over Christmas. Without using this possession period, it would have resulted in approximately 48 additional weekends of work to enable us to complete the works.

The early part of 2022 will see us finishing our exploratory works for utilities, site access improvements off the A413, and vegetation clearance. These works will include traffic management to allow us to work safely and we aim to utilise working during off peak hours, including overnight works to help minimise disruption for all road users.

In the early part of the year, we will be starting the piling works in the Wendover Dean area where the viaduct will be situated. These piling works will be completed during the day and we will monitor noise and vibration as we undertake them. Due to the nature of the works, there will be some noise associated but we do not anticipate anything which is over our allowed working limits.

The North Chilterns newsletter can now be found on the HS2 website, which outlines much of the upcoming works and other community updates.
