Kayla + Dale

captured by curly tree photography

After a romantic proposal in Santorini, Kayla and Dale planned their beautiful bohemian luxe wedding, featuring romantic berry tones and whimsical florals. Their rustic farm setting serves as a stunning backdrop for clever styling ideas that will have you pouring over the details!

Finding the Dress “I didn’t have to do a lot of looking when it came to my dress. When I put it on I could have walked out the door then and there and got married - that’s how I knew it was 'The One'. I made a few adjustments, sewing in straps and lowering the back, and once complete it was an amazing dress!”

"The planning was an adventure all its own! We had lots of highs and lows, tears and laughs, made decisions and then changed our minds. At times it was stressful but other times things just fell into place."

The Styling “We picked a ‘Lucky Dip’ package from a local styling company as it took a lot of the stress of designing away from us. All we had to do was create a Pinterest board of our favourite ideas and they did the rest - we didn't know exactly what we were getting until we turned up. When we saw it for the first time, we just fell in love. It was very relaxed with a romantic, boho feel.”

Best Advice 1. Make sure it’s the wedding you want. It’s one of the most special days in your life, so it should reflect both of you. 2. Take a moment to yourselves and just let it sink in – you’re married! Sit back and appreciate the beauty of your special day. 3. Invest in an amazing photographer!

Nicole & Michael captured by bianca kate photography

Nicole and Michael’s elegant winery wedding is a relaxed outdoor celebration from start to finish! With a reception under the stars on their wish list, the festivities included long-table dining amongst the vines, a mouthwatering dessert bar and plans to dance the night away.

Bridal Party “We wanted the bridesmaids in a very light colour so our flowers really stood out. With the boys, we kept it simple with a vest and pants. Mainly we just didn’t want them to have to spend too much money.”

Entertaining Guests “We made sure the dance floor was always pumping with great music. One thing we wanted was to keep the time spent sitting at the tables to a minimum. We had some short but meaningful speeches before and after the main meal, and the rest of the night was spent up and on our feet, dancing and socialising.

"Our first dance was a highlight. We spent a few weeks having waltz and salsa classes - it was so fun to have that experience together."

Best Advice “Make the day how you want it and don’t stress about the little things. Also, take a step aside on the day to take everything in.”

Alyssa & Andrew captured by the evoke company

Long-time loves Alyssa and Andrew’s restaurant wedding has a chic, contemporary garden vibe! Their fresh white and green palette is perfect for summer and we love the attention to detail – from the divine outdoor lounge and post-ceremony drinks station to the couple's flower-filled reception.

The Dress “I had a style in mind and ended up picking something completely different! It must have been the 20th dress I tried on, but as soon as I saw it I knew it was the one.

reception style “The tables were a mix of round draped with grey linen and long timber trestles to break up the space, topped with white florals and an abundance of candles. My nan, mum and I made our wedding favours, painting small terracotta pots white and planting them with succulents.

the Bridal Party “I didn’t want something that I would look back on in 20 years and say, ‘What was I thinking?’, so I opted for a simple ivory dress paired with nude heels for the bridesmaids. The groomsmen wore navy suits, ivory shirts, polka dot bow ties and dark brown shoes.”

"Relax and enjoy the experience - don’t overthink the planning process. If you like an idea, run with it!"

Lisa + Ben

captured by cavanagh photography

Engaged in a beautiful garden in Kyoto, Lisa and Ben’s DIY country wedding features a serene waterside ceremony and illuminated marquee reception peppered with gold accents. Their celebration is the perfect blend of stylish handmade details and professional touches in all the right places!

the planning “I work in events so I was very practical about planning our wedding, but it was important to me that Ben was an equal decision maker. Weddings are the one opportunity in your life to thank your closest network for all that they’ve done, and will do, to support you in your relationship. We made sure every aspect made our guests feel appreciated and special - we hope they did!”

"We asked our guests to specify a song to be played on their RSVP - one replied with a whole list, including sentimental value!"

handmade projects “Most of our wedding was a DIY job - I worked my way through endless weekends of decorating and roadside scavenging! We designed the space, sourced the furniture, spray painted all the gold items, put together complimentary toiletry baskets in the bathrooms and created welcome notes for our guests in their hotels. Given it was at home, it was a labour of love, but a very personalised one.

top tips 1. Don’t forget that it’s about the marriage, not the wedding. There’s no point getting married if your groom thinks you’re crazy by the time you reach the end of the aisle! 2. Remember what it’s like to be a guest. You’ve asked people to spend time and money to be with you, so make sure they’re taken care of. 3. Remember to leave time for the important stuff - the people. You want to have enough time throughout the day to actually be present with everyone, especially your partner!

Megan + Ross

captured by angela rose photography

This wedding has beautiful surprises around every corner! Megan and Ross created a day they would both adore, where eclectic woodland meets classic beauty. We love Megan’s designer gown and the couple's atmospheric reception - truly the indoor enchanted forest and memorable experience they wanted.

The Planning “We had a relatively short engagement as we just wanted to be married! The best part was spending time together on a project we both cared about. We have very similar taste and style, so it was fairly easy to make decisions. We emailed each other frequently with ‘Wedding Progress’ and would tick tasks off as they were completed.”

The Dress “I had a few hiccups throughout the search as I found it rather overwhelming - there’s quite a lot to choose from. I learnt not to go wedding shopping when you’re hungry or tired! I wanted something elegant with a high neck and was immediately taken by Alex Perry’s collection. I relied on my mum and sisters for their honest opinions!”

" We were married under a beautiful Jacaranda tree - it was in full bloom and the perfect backdrop for our nuptials. We wanted a setting that was classic and romantic, but also relaxed."

The Reception “We wanted an ‘indoor enchanted forest’ and were overwhelmed by what our stylist created for us. It was a magical experience reflecting on the space. We had hanging greenery, dozens of scattered vases with flowers, loads of fairy lights and romantic brass and gold tableware.”

Top Tips 1. Get a videographer. The day goes so quickly and it’s great to have it captured forever. We watch ours all the time and still get teary! 2. Don’t sweat the small stuff. The wedding is just one day - you have a lifetime to make memories! 3. Take time out to look around you and feel the love. 4. Have fun and be flexible. Weddings aren’t meant to be stressful, despite being a very important day. If things don’t go to plan, at least it’s a memory!

What are some sweet ways we can include children in our ceremony? - Debbie Hardwick celebrant at your service

Some of my most beautiful experiences as a celebrant have been when children were involved! Older children can be a bridesmaid or groomsman, do a reading, give the bride away, or if 18 or over, be a witness. For blended families, a candle or sand ritual is symbolic of joining your families together. You could also have your celebrant ask your children for their blessing of their parents' marriage. Involve younger children as flower girls and ring bearers, or write them into your vows. You could also give them bottles of bubbles to play with during the ceremony - it keeps them occupied and looks nice if they happen to float into a photo or two!

It’s wonderful to have access to Pinterest and Instagram, however it does get hard knowing where to begin or end! To help you stay on track, start with a colour palette you love. From there you’ll find a trend in your searching, and creating your own style will fall into place.

Whether you just don’t know where to start or you're feeling overwhelmed, I recommend looking to nature for your inspiration. Check with your florist or stylist for what's available in your chosen season and build from there - you'll find you end up with a unique and achievable style!

What can we do to guarantee great couple photos? - Sophie Baker sophie baker photography

Trust your photographer! Remember they see the world the way a camera does, not how our eyes do, and listen to their recommended timings for the day if couple portraits are a priority. - Adam Kriedemann raconteur photography

Slow down, be in the moment and don't dwell on ‘what went wrong’ because you’ll miss the moments that are happening right before you. It’s not the background that makes a great image, but great light and a great connection. - Kate Bailey twig + fawn photography

Your photographer needs time to do their job well, so try to leave any to-do’s to other people or organise them beforehand. Also share information about yourselves with your photographer - this helps us tell your story.

Veronika + Steven captured by raconteur photography

First meeting at an Australian pub in London, this lovely couple have spent an adventurous seven years living in the UK, Czech Republic and Australia. After Steve surprised Veronika with an evening picnic proposal on her birthday, they began planning a beautiful fusion of rustic barn styling and pastel vintage details for their wedding day.

The Dress “I fell in love with a beautiful 50’s style tea length wedding dress on Etsy but not everyone thought it was such a great idea to have not tried any dresses on, which I can understand now. I took their advice so I wouldn’t miss out on a proper bridal experience and ended up buying a dress I would never have even thought of!”

"I always give the advice now to go try on dresses, as you might be surprised how they feel on compared to looking at them in magazines."

Perfect Playlist “I think the songs we played at the wedding became meaningful for us afterwards as they are now linked to the beautiful memories. We picked 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole for walking down the aisle. Hearing this song now always makes me tear up. We played 'Georgia' by Vance Joy for our first dance, followed by John Lennon’s 'Love' for the father-daughter and mother-son dance. Don’t forget to dance with your dad - it will be so special for you both!”

Reception Style “We organised a garden party for our guests that started straight after the ceremony with drinks, snacks and lawn games. Entertainment at the reception was a photo booth, which proved to be very popular! For the decor, we used simple white linen table runners, flowers in mason jars, candles and rustic wooden table numbers. Menus, place cards and wedding favours matched the bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers.”

Best Advice 1. Please don't stress about losing weight to fit into your wedding dress. You will look beautiful no matter what size or shape you are! 2. Make sure you are present in the moment and enjoy all the happy times with your loved ones. 3. If you ever feel like the planning is too much, call your girlfriends and have a glass (or five) of wine with them - I promise you’ll feel way better.
