Estimated Financial Award Letters Estimated financial aid offers are not usable toward the bill; only awards that are verified can be applied to your charges. If you received an estimated financial aid award letter and there is no financial aid appearing on your bill, please check Online Academic Resources via MySaints to view missing information or contact the OSFS.

Federal Work-Study Federal Work-Study is an offer to seek employment and is not subtracted from your bill. You will be paid for hours worked. Please refer to the Student Employment section on page 16 for more information.

Student Employment A variety of on- and off-campus job opportunities are available to Emmanuel students who are interested in working. On-campus jobs are available in academic departments, the residence halls and in administrative offices. Also, our desirable Boston location affords students the opportunity to seek employment within a short walk from campus. All students are eligible to apply for on-campus jobs, regardless of whether you are awarded Federal Work-Study. However, the College has a number of partnerships with off-campus organizations that provide employment opportunities to students; these opportunities are limited to students who are awarded Federal Work-Study.

Applying for Jobs You may search for on- and off-campus employment opportunities on the Emmanuel College Career Connect (EC3), which may be accessed through MySaints. After creating a login, list “Emmanuel College as the employer to view available on-campus positions. You can apply for jobs directly with the supervisor listed on the job posting. Student employment positions are posted beginning in the summer and are updated throughout the year.

Student employment is not guaranteed and students who are awarded Federal Work-Study are not required to work. Because on-campus jobs are limited, if you are interested in working on campus, you should visit EC3 and apply for jobs as soon as possible.

For information concerning nearby off-campus employment and internship opportunities, you are encouraged to contact the Office of Internships & Career Development at 617-735-9930 or careerdevelopment@emmanuel.edu.

Employment Paperwork To work on or off campus, you must complete employment paperwork including the I-9 Employment Authorization Form and the W-4 and M-4 tax withholding forms. If you are interested in working, you should have the following paperwork with you when you arrive in September: • a voided check for checking accounts or verification statement including a routing and account number for savings accounts • valid identification, such as a U.S. passport OR a driver’s license AND Social Security card. Please bring originals; we are unable to accept copies.

Paychecks Students who choose to work will have their paycheck directly deposited into their bank account every two weeks for hours worked. Please note, the first paycheck will be a paper paycheck sent to the student’s campus mailbox. Since students are paid for hours worked, earnings from student employment cannot be deducted from your bill.

Withdrawal Policy Withdrawal from a Course Course schedule changes must be made during the semester’s add/drop period to receive a refund. After the add/drop period, you are liable for the cost of courses from which you withdraw. Before financial aid is disbursed, your enrollment and housing status are confirmed after each semester’s add/drop period. Your aid may be adjusted if your enrollment and/or your housing status changed from what was originally reported.

Withdrawal from the College After the start of classes, fees are not refundable, and tuition, room and board are refunded based on the policy below. To officially withdraw from the College, you must contact your Academic Advisor or the Registrar’s Office. Non-attendance does not constitute an official withdrawal. Withdrawal Date

Tuition Insurance Tuition insurance is available through Sallie Mae Insurance Services to help protect your investment if the student is unable to complete classes for the academic term due to physical or mental illness, injury or death. Students have the option of purchasing varying amounts of tuition insurance based on the needs of the student and family. Participation in the tuition insurance is optional and is not administered by Emmanuel College. The College’s withdrawal policy (please see page 18 for more information) is applicable whether or not you enroll in the tuition insurance plan. If you have questions regarding the plan or would like to apply, please contact Sallie Mae Insurance Services at 877-445-0264 or visit www.salliemaeinsurance.com/emmanuel.

Refund Process If you have a credit on your account after paying your bill, you may reduce your loan amount or have the credit applied toward your next semester balance. You may also request a refund through Online Academic Resources via MySaints, on the Emmanuel website, or in our office. Students who request their refund through Online Academic Resources may request to have the funds directly deposited into their bank account. Because financial aid is disbursed after the add/drop period, most refunds are not available until mid-October for the fall semester and late February for the spring semester.

Students who borrowed loan funds to pay for books or housing should be prepared to purchase books and pay rent for September and October in the fall semester and January and February in the spring semester.

Delinquent Accounts The payment of tuition and fees is your responsibility. Your account may be charged a $100 late fee if your balance is not resolved by the bill due date. In addition to being charged a late fee, if payment is not received in a timely manner: • your account will become delinquent and a financial hold will be placed on your account. • you will be unable to participate in course registration, room selection or graduation. • the College will withhold your diploma and academic transcript. • your account will be referred to a collection agency and you will be responsible for the costs incurred with the collection effort. Once an account is referred to an outside agency, all inquiries and payments are made to the collection agency.

It is your responsibility to be aware of your balance and resolve any outstanding balances. The OSFS is available to assist you with this process. We may be reached at 617-735-9938 or financialservices@emmanuel.edu.
