1.1 Snooze By The River

Situated in the core of Ahmedabad city, Sabarmati Riverfront is an extensively used public infrastructure. The project focuses upon understanding the existing infrastructure and exploring potential possibilities for intervention, based upon the needs of the user group. Considering the monotonous long stretch of cycle track, it was evident that the existing infrastructure for hault and refreshments was not sufficient. The project focuses upon conceptualizing and designing intermediate refreshment kiosks and stalls which would cater as both, serving stalls and sitting spaces. The design output is a stall which can be deployed and converted into sitting spaces. The sitting is put around the tree-planters to naturally shade the intervention. The users can get a comfortable sitting space in the closed position of the structure, whereas in the deployed state, when it becomes a stall, the height increases and space becomes sufficient to cater to the purpose of selling.

1.2 Dive In Kitchen

According to me work is, activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result whereas play is something in which we relax ourselves by doing an action but which is supposed to be done in a certain manner, which has some rule and regulation. For example, any sport lite table tennis. According to these notions of play and work I have selected a duality of freedom and restriction. From all these I have selected my two programs as swimming and diving centre as play and a self hep kitchen as work. Then coming to the design according to Doshi sir Premabhai hall is an insert in the Bhadra plaza, so I wanted to have the strategy in my design too. Not only that I also wanted inter action between the two user groups. So, I felt insert would be a better strategy. The pool is associated with all the schools in the old city so all the children studying in those schools can come here and learn swimming. Not only the school children but also the teenagers and the young adults how are willing to learn diving can come here and full fill their dreams.

1.3 Seeking Shade

The basic objective of the studio is to organize Ahmedabad Architectural Festival (AAF). Under this broader exhibition, 14 buildings are selected in which i have chosen L.D. Institute Of Indology. In which I had to design an intervention and an exhibition in the building which follows the language of the building. Then stated the analysis of the building, in which I found 3 attributes which are appropriate - Absorbing, Soliture and Conscious. The exhibition exhibits the case study of 6 building which runs through the tropic of cancer and in which play of light and shadow played a major role1. IIM, Ahmedabad 2. Dhaka Assembly Hall 3. High Court of Punjab 4. Church of Light 5. Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital 6. Amdavad ni Gufa

2. CEPT Winter School

These programs differ from the regular semesters in terms of structure, approach and content. The key words that capture the spirit of SWS are experiment, variety and innovation. They explore emerging areas, provide space to test new ideas and methods, facilitate in site experience, help understand critical sites and situations, and create opportunities to learn by making. The courses in SWS are intense and are for short durations of between two to four weeks. The hallmark of the SWS is the enriching variety. They achieve it by offering courses that cover a wide range of topics and issues and creating a diverse learning group by inviting students from other colleges to apply for the courses. The intellectual environment is also enriched by bringing in potential professionals, academicians, artists, and experts from across the country and abroad to teach. Under these courses i have taken 2 of them 2.1 Inside Jaisalmer 2.2 Understanding Place - Lunuganga and Brief Garden(Sri Lanka)

- 16 -

2.1 Inside Jaisalmer In this course we had to explore Jaisalmer and represent it graphically. We were a group of 5 and we decided to represent Jaisalmer through 5 senses - Touch, Sight, Smell, Taste and Sound. I choose sound as the medium to represent Jaisalmer. I took the main 4 chowks in Jaisalmer to study the sound produced there different times - Gandhi Chowk, Hanuman Chowk, Gopa Chowk, Dusshera Chowk As a part of this course we had to write the experience we had at Jaisalmer and the way we spent our time. Gandhi Chowk

My Experience: The most interesting thing I found in Jaisalmer was that all the building were constructed with Sand Stone, if not built at least cladded with sand stone. When I was doing my study and exploring the palace area, I met an artist who was from Ajmer and his father was a farmer. When this guy had visit to Jaisalmer he got interested in art and slowly his interest became his profession. I have seen very less people whose hobby turns into profession. The way he does his job is extraordinary, and the amount of concentration he was paying to his job can just cant be explained in words. The best part of this trip was the time I spent with my friends. This was the first trip with my under graduation friends, which be very memorable for me. - 17 -

3.3 Power Grid - Navratri Installation The festival of Navratri is all about dance, music and motion. There is a sense of dynamism in it. The power grid is based on the concept of dynamism - Fluidity that one sees when one stands and sees the installation from different positions. The project was done by a team of 12 students, where I was one of lead member.

Making Process

- 23 -

In light of this straightforward thought power matrix made of 4 boards each by 4ft by 4ft. The size of PVC pipes lessens on a level plane and vertically by 2.7cm while slantingly it was an alternate figuring. The base was of MDF (12mm). The lighting was LED strips lights which were later supplanted by arrangement light due to being all the more simple to deal with and safe. The channels had patterns to let the light turn out and closes were shut by utilizing translucent acrylic to shroud the wellspring of light. These 4 boards were consolidated with stray pieces and afterward a solid metal casing was made with MS box segment accessible out of the tack-boards stands and welded in the workshop. The 4 panels were independently associated with the casing and group the establishment was held tight a divider with links. These 4 panels were CNC cut alongside the openings for embeddings pipes. The entire thought was to allow the establishment to serve, something other than a lighting component. The component fills in as a board worth taking a gander at even without the nearness of light while utilizing the light features the progression of the point network.
