EMPLOYMENT REPORT

F R I E N D S A N D A S S O C I AT ES O F VA N D E R B I LT B U S I N ES S : We are pleased to share the employment outcomes for the Vanderbilt Master of Science in Finance Class of 2023. We are thrilled to report outstanding employment outcomes, with 96% of job-seeking graduates having secured a full-time position within 6 months of graduation, despite a high level of volatility and uncertainty in the economy and financial markets. Stellar employment outcomes despite market challenges: The strong results underline our students' perseverance and resourcefulness and testify to their strong candidacy. From traditional investment banking to real estate finance, consulting, and advisory to investment management, the MSF Class of 2023 brought their financial and analytical expertise to a wide range of sectors. In a job market where businesses themselves struggle with visibility, the Class of 2023 demonstrated versatility and nimbleness in capitalizing on open windows of recruitment. During this process, students exhibited significant resilience and willingness to nurture long-term professional relationships with alumni and employers. What’s more, they consistently showed the courage to reinvent themselves. We believe our students’ capacity to adapt and embrace change will serve them extremely well in finance, an industry with dynamic volatility and innovation. Alumni partnership: We remain appreciative of our MSF alumni partners, who play a crucial role in propelling our students to success. In today’s competitive job market, a focused and easily accessible alumni network is indispensable, and this is precisely what the Vanderbilt MSF community offers. Our alumni consistently interact with both our current students and fellow alumni, actively sharing employment prospects and providing support in various aspects such as mentorship, interview preparation, networking, and beyond. Alumni played a significant part in the 44% of MSF offers for the Class of 2023 that came from Owenrelated sources. Diversified employment avenues: Close to 50% of the Class of 2023 accepted positions in the South and Southwest—including 19% in the Nashville metro area—up from 32% a year ago. We believe the statistics reflect the relative resilience of the regional economy and Vanderbilt’s strong network in the region, as well as the appeal of living in these areas. In terms of job functions, the moderated supply of investment banking and management consulting roles from the peak market of 2022 also channeled students into relevant areas such as corporate finance and financial consulting. Additionally, we continue to see an increase in the number of students securing employment through online job postings (both internal and external to Owen), likely resulting from decreased in-person employer recruiting post-COVID-19. We take great pride in the accomplishments of the Vanderbilt MSF Class of 2023. Their commitment, coupled with proactive involvement with the Career Management Center, led to these outstanding achievements. We are also glad to see these graduates–carrying on the MSF’s collaborative and giving-back culture–already starting to support and mentor the current Class of 2024. It has been an absolute honor to support the MSF program and observe the continued success of our students. Sincerely, Ginny Ling Associate Director & MSF Coaching Lead | Career Management Center Vanderbilt University | Owen Graduate School of Management
