What options are available for exchange?
Choose from several exciting exchange programs to find your perfect match. These exchange options are available to you:
Student Exchange
Study overseas at a partner university for 1 to 2 semesters and gain academic credit.
Practicum Exchange
Gain research experience at a partner university from 2 weeks to 12 months.
Short Courses and Study Tours
Take courses at partner universities, for a period of 2 to 10 weeks.
International Internships and Volunteering
Study requirements
Scholarships are available for exchange, including the New Colombo Plan and other Australian government funds.
Support services
Students that are eligible can receive OS-HELP to fund overseas exchanges.
Gain valuable experience overseas for 2 weeks to 6 months.

Am I eligible to apply? The Exchange program application is available to all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, depending on the following requirements:
Steps to apply Step 1
èè Decide between semester, year, practicum exchange and short courses
èè You must have completed 24 units of credit of your current degree at UNSW and have at least 18 remaining units of credit in your degree at the start of your exchange. èè Postgraduate students must be enrolled in a degree that is at least 3 full-time semesters in duration. You must apply in your first semester to go on exchange in your third semester.
Research your options.
èè Attend Information sessions and register for Student Exchange Tutorial (compulsory for semester/year long exchange) èè For Practicum Exchange, secure a supervisor for your proposed research
Step 2
Book an appointment with a Global Education Advisor to talk through your options.
èè Sponsored International students (AUSAID, OPRS etc) are not eligible to go on overseas programs.
Step 3
Complete your application – Applications for all programs are online.
èè You must have at least a credit average to be eligible to apply.
Step 4
The Global Education team will notify you of your nominated international program, university or acceptance into the Practicum program.
èè Your participation in the program is dependent on faculty approval. In order to go abroad on the Practicum program you must secure approval from your current supervisor and identify a supervisor at the partner university prior to making an application. Short-term programs are open to all students, including first year and Postgraduate programs that are of a short duration.
