MEDIA POLICIES
WELCOME!: The University of New Hampshire office of athletic communications genuinely appreciates your coverage of UNH men’s basketball, and looks forward to each and every time it can welcome you to Durham. Members of the office include men’s basketball contact Taylor Sievers, associate athletic director for communications Mike Murphy, associate directors of athletic communications Doug Poole and Alex Comeau and Jon Luszcz, assistant director of athletic communications as well as the team of studentassistants who are available to assist with your coverage. The office is happy to help you however it can. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the policies relevant to your coverage of the men’s basketball program, as outlined on this page. Please feel free to contact Taylor Sievers via phone or email with questions regarding the media policy. GENERAL POLICIES: All interviews with any member of the men’s basketball program, including head coach Bill Herrion, the coaching staff and student-athletes must be coordinated through Taylor Sievers in the office of athletic communications. Members of the media are strictly prohibited from approaching any coach, staff member or student-athlete by any means, including text messages, email, phone calls (cell, office or home) or social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, without first approaching athletic communications. Regarding unique subject matter, such as humaninterest angles, members of the media are welcome to approach the office of athletic communications at least 24 hours in advance with requests to interview any member of the program. Approved requests will be granted. INTERVIEW GUIDELINES: Interviews, either in person or via telephone, with members of the UNH men’s basketball coaching staff and student-athletes must be coordinated through assistant director of athletic communications Taylor Sievers. Media are asked not to request an individual’s personal contact information, including email and cell number, but rather to contact Taylor Sievers. Student-athletes and coaches are available for interviews at the conclusion of daily practice sessions. Student-athlete interviews will not conflict with classes, meetings, medical treatment or practice times. Interviews are not permitted in the locker room or training room. Interviews will not be granted on game days until following the contest. Telephone interviews should be requested at least 24 hours in advance and coordinated through Taylor Sievers. All interviews will be processed on an availability basis involving the requested interviewee. PRACTICE GUIDELINES: All UNH men’s basketball practices are closed to the media and public, unless otherwise noted. GAMEDAY: Near the end of each home game, the athletic communications staff will ask those on hand representing the media who they wish to speak with. Approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of a match, head coach Bill Herrion and the selected student-athletes will be available for questions.

REPORTING OF INJURIES: At all times throughout the calendar year, head coach Bill Herrion will serve as the sole source for injury information. All questions related to injuries should be directed to Herrion, and not to any other members of the program, including athletic trainers, doctors, the injured student-athlete or his teammates. LUNDHOLM GYMNASIUM DIRECTIONS: Address: University of New Hampshire Field House 145 Main Street Durham, N.H. 03824 From the South: Take 95 North to 84 East. Follow 84 East through Connecticut to the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90). Stay on the Mass Pike for 10 miles before taking the exit for Auburn/Worcester and 290 East. Proceed east on 290 until it ends and merges with 495 North -- stay in the left lanes to exit to 495 North. Continue on 495 North -- it will end and merge with 95 North. Proceed on 95 North into New Hampshire and continue on to the toll booth. From the toll, go approximately seven miles and look for signs that read “NH Lakes and White Mountains,” and “Dover/Concord.” Exit to the left for the Spaulding Turnpike (Route 4 West). Go about four miles and take the last exit before the toll (Exit 6W) for Concord and Durham. At this point, you are still on Route 4 West. Go approximately four miles and continue straight through a traffic light (Madbury Road), and proceed another 1 1/2 miles to the Route 155A exit, marked University of New Hampshire.” Take a left turn off the ramp and proceed one mile to Field House, which is on the right at the top of the hill. From Maine: Follow 95 South to Spaulding Turnpike (Route 4 West) and continue as above. From the West (Vermont, Concord): Take 89 South to 93 North. Follow 93 North, approximately four miles to 393 East, which will merge with Route 4 East. Follow Route 4 to Route 155A exit for “University of New Hampshire.” Make a right off the ramp and proceed as above. From the West (Manchester, Nashua): Take 93 North to Route 101 East. Follow 101 to Exit 7 (Route 125). Exit and take a left onto 125 and follow straight to Lee Traffic Circle. First right at circle is Route 4 East. Continue as above.

The new stadium will provide a community-strengthening space to be shared by our campus, the town of Durham, and citizens throughout the Granite State, with a seating capacity between 10,000 and 12,000. Wildcat Stadium will serve as a symbol of excellence, reflecting the prestige conveyed by other University landmarks. The stadium will significantly benefit not only the football program, but other athletic teams such as lacrosse, soccer and track and field – who will train and compete here.

Lundholm Gymnasium is located in the Field House and is home to both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, the volleyball team and the gymnastics team. In December 2000, the University of New Hampshire athletic department received approval to begin the restoration of Lundholm Gymnasium. The gym, dedicated in name of Carl Lundholm in 1968, a 1921 graduate of the University and also the athletic department’s director from 1939 to 1963, had served as the primary home of the Wildcat basketball programs for several decades.

The mission of the student-athlete support services office at the University of New Hampshire is to provide the academic support and resources necessary for students to succeed in their academic endeavors. The Watkins Center for Student-Athlete Excellence, which is located on the second floor of the Field House, supports all students who strive to balance the challenges of representing UNH as students and as Division I athletes.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE JERRY AZUMAH PERFORMANCE CENTER... The Jerry Azumah Performance Center opened its doors in the summer of 2003 to UNH student-athletes. A monetary donation by Azumah, a cornerback with the Chicago Bears of the NFL and 1999 recipient of the Walter Payton award (Top football player in Division I-AA), allowed the UNH athletic department to overhaul its existing strength and conditioning center.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING... Chapman is in his 14th year as the director of strength and conditioning at the University of New Hampshire in 2015-16. Chapman helped coordinate the building of the state-ofthe-art Jerry Azumah Performance Center in 2003 and has guided UNH student-athletes to NCAA appearances in both women’s and men’s ice hockey, football, gymnastics, women’s volleyball, women’s lacrosse, skiing, women’s soccer and track and field.
Ciani is in his 14th season with the UNH athletic department during the 2015-16 academic year. After four years as an assistant coach in the University’s strength and conditioning office, Ciani was promoted to the position of Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning in 2006. Ciani’s efforts have been key in guiding UNH student-athletes to NCAA appearances in both men’s and women’s ice hockey, football, gymnastics, women’s volleyball, women’s lacrosse, skiing, women’s soccer and track and field.
Edwards was named the assistant strength and conditioning coach in August 2014. He supervises, directs and trains student-athletes in regards to exercise and lifting techniques. Edwards will also work as a coordinator for Healthy UNH, specifically as the instructor for noon-time faculty/staff strength and conditioning. Healthy UNH’s mission is to promote a campus-wide initiative that encourages faculty, staff and students to improve their health while decreasing health care costs.

Liz McAllister
In 2015-16, Liz McAllister will enter her 13th year at UNH. She is the administrative assistant to Athletic Director Marty Scarano and also supports the men’s & women’s basketball teams, field hockey, volleyball, men’s and women’s skiing and swimming & diving programs. She is primarily responsible for daily operations, including assisting the coaching staff with recruiting, team travel and fundraising.
Joanne Maldari, a 1990 graduate of Holy Cross who went on to earn her master’s degree in Athletic Counseling at Springfield College, serves as assistant athletic director for academic support. The 2015-16 season represents her 20th at UNH. She was recognized for her outstanding efforts at UNH by receiving the University’s 2001 Academic Advising Award. Before coming to Durham, she served athletic counseling internships at Springfield and Central Connecticut State University.
Sievers was hired as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in May of 2015. He handles all media requests for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, men’s basketball and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. Sievers grew up Bow, N.H. and graduated in May 2015 from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Kinesiology: Sport Studies and a minor in Business Administration.
Coakley enters her seventh year as Director of Student Athlete Development at UNH. She oversees a comprehensive educational program designed to enhance the personal/ professional development and welfare of UNH student athletes.

The team is frequently found on weekends helping out around the community. Bill Herrion, one of the most successful coaches in America East men’s basketball history, is in his 11th season at the University of New Hampshire in 2015-16. Herrion was named the 20th men’s basketball head coach in UNH history on May 26, 2005. He was a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award in 2014-15 after leading the Wildcats to a 19-13 record, an America East semifinals appearance and an invitation to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Mohr is in his 11th season at New Hampshire under head coach Bill Herrion in 2015-16. Before UNH, Mohr worked six seasons as an assistant coach at Merrimack College with longtime head coach Bert Hammel.
