Many Hands Make Light Work A Request for YOUR Help We are GROWING and so is our need for more Board Members! We are coming to our supporters with a great need. As many of you already know, a board of directors is crucial to a non-profit agency. The success or failure of Habitat is significantly due to our volunteers. Without a board of directors, there will be no Habitat in Androscoggin or Oxford County for people to volunteer with. We have been blessed with a very hard working, but extremely small, group of individuals. Those individuals need some assistance in order for us to thrive and grow in Androscoggin and Oxford Counties. We have to get more individuals involved on a basic and ground level, or better known as the board of directors. Our current board wants to ensure that Habitat can successfully support the members and families of Androscoggin and Oxford Counties. WE CAN NOT DO THAT WITHOUT YOUR HELP!! New board members don’t have to be on the nuts-and-bolts of home construction (though they certainly can if they wish). We are looking for new board members who can meet monthly to help guide our overall efforts for AHFH, and help attract the people and energy we need to ensure a vibrant, sustainable future for the families we serve. We are looking for individuals who care about the housing needs of low income families, and about making our community a better place for these hard-working men, women and children. You might be a teacher, a student, a business owner or vendor, a corporate officer, a stay-at-home mom or a retiree. It doesn't matter what you do for a living, what matters is what you are willing to give back to your community. We hope for diversity of experience to help make us stronger. Would you be willing to help? Or do you know someone who would be a good addition to the Habitat Board? We appreciate all referrals! If you have any questions, or would like to express interest, please call or write Kim Veilleux at Androhabitat@roadrunner.com or 786-2598.

Being honest may not get you a lot of friends but it'll always get you the right ones.

harden us. If he thinks so, it’s not my place to tell him different. A “route march” is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore feet and we all ride back in trucks. The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The Captain is like the school board. Majors and colonels just ride around and frown. They don’t bother you none. This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don’t know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk head and don’t move, and it ain’t shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don’t even load your own cartridges They come in boxes. Then we have what they call hand-to-hand combat training. You get to wrestle with them city boys. I have to be real careful though, they break real easy. It ain’t like fighting with that ole bull at home. I’m about the best they got in this except for that Tug Jordan from (continued on next page)
