FEBRUARY

n SET UP YOUR VANDALWEB AND VANDALMAIL ACCOUNTS. n Explore your living options online and reserve your residence hall room. UI has GUARANTEED on campus housing for international students! n REGISTER FOR UIDAHO BOUND (an on campus visit day): Reserve a hotel room for Friday and/or Saturday. To make the most of your UIdaho Bound experience, pay your enrollment deposit on VandalWeb. This will enable you to register for classes. n JOIN US ON FACEBOOK! n Accept your scholarship package posted to your VandalWeb account.

n ATTEND A UIDAHO BOUND EVENT (optional): April 2: UIdaho Bound April 23: UIdaho Bound

n May 1: Enrollment deposit due. Secure your place at the University of Idaho. n Notify other schools about your choice to become a Vandal. n Watch your mail and VandalMail for information about how to register for New Student Orientation and Parent Orientation programs.

JUNE

n Send all final transcripts to the Office of Admissions. n Make hotel reservations for your family for move-in at the start of school. Accommodations fill up fast! n Purchase your plane ticket to arrive at the Moscow-Pullman Airport (code PUW) before orientation.

JULY

n Order textbooks online. n Watch for your university billing statement in the mail and on VandalWeb. n Sign up for International Student Orientation, Housing and Airport PickUp.

AUGUST

n Pay all university fees before the first day of classes. n August 18–19: Attend International Student Orientation. n August 19–20: Attend New Student Orientation. n

Your finances

Next Steps 1. Set up your VandalWeb and VandalMail accounts online. 2. Look on VandalMail and VandalWeb in midMarch for your financial aid package notification. 3. Budget how you will pay for college using the Financial Planning Worksheet at www.uidaho. edu/financialaid. 4. Instruct any agencies that awarded you external scholarships to submit funds to the Financial Aid Office by August 1. 5. Look for your billing statement in July. 6. Pay fees before the first day of classes (August 22, 2016).

Financing your education There are many ways you can get experiential, innovative learning and research opportunities at the University of Idaho. Our financial aid and scholarship programs, totaling more than $125 million each year, coupled with tuition and fees that are already below the national average, make obtaining a premier college education affordable.

Working on Campus Remember, as an international student, you are encouraged to work on campus for 20 hours a week. This is a great way to meet people and earn a little bit of spending money! Our students often work in offices, research labs, concert venues, or campus housing and dining.

FIRST-YEAR AND TRANSFER STUDENTS: On-campus living ensures your success When you live on campus, you are at the center of student life. On-campus living at Idaho is convenient and fun. You will meet new friends, develop as an individual, and be conveniently located to all campus resources. On-campus living is cost-effective and the experience of a lifetime! What’s more, on-campus living is linked to academic success. Students who live on campus are more likely to have higher GPAs, feel more satisfied and graduate faster.

FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS: On-Campus Living Requirement On-campus living is a crucial part of your educational experience at the University of Idaho. New students are required to live on campus during their first year unless they meet certain exemption requirements. New students may choose from among 28 fraternity or sorority houses, 25 residence hall communities and a women’s cooperative. You may request an exemption from this requirement through the Office of the Dean of Students no later than May 15.

Your academic success Registering for classes is a key step in securing your place in the University of Idaho family.

Next Steps 1. Submit test scores, advanced placement exam scores, and/or college credits, which will be used for English and math placement. 2. Check your major. If your interests have changed since your application for admission, contact the Office of Admissions. 3. Pay enrollment deposit. 4. Connect with your Academic Advisor to have them lift the Advising Hold and help you register for classes. You can do this in person, through email or on the phone!

Register for classes When you have paid your enrollment deposit, you will be able to register for your classes. Your first step is to talk with your academic advisor in your department. You will receive help choosing your classes and setting up your schedule for fall semester.

Your major On your application for admission, you listed an area of study that interests you. But don’t worry if you are still unsure about your major. You can explore a wide range of potential career paths, and can learn about degree options you may have never before considered. With 124 majors, there’s sure to be an area of study that takes you where you want to go. Browse majors online using the UI Degree Finder search tool.

We care about your success At the University of Idaho you will have the extra academic support you may need to adjust to the challenges of college-level courses, including tutoring and one-on-one counseling, weekly workshops and writing assistance. Go online for a complete list of academic support programs and resources. The Vandal Career Center posts internships, holds job fairs and workshops and has career advisors to help you choose a major, improve your résumé and identify potential employers.
