ALL-LEVEL Open to participants of all fitness levels and riding experience. Experience the most popular fitness trend of the decade! This is a progressive 8-week group cycling course that takes you through the world of endurance training. Workouts can be modified from high to low-intensity depending on your personal goals.

H.I.I.T. HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) involves performing low to moderate intensity intervals alternated with high intensity intervals. HIIT will accomplish two goals: it will help accelerate fat loss and improve aerobic and anaerobic endurance. HIITis known to produce very fast results in a short period of time and enhance athletic performance. PURE STRENGTH Get ready to tone up and gain pure strength! With this circuit class, you'll be sure to get a total body workout, while gaining both strength and endurance. All levels are welcome!

CARDIO KICKBOXING Martial arts style cardio workout to help you develop a strong mind and body connection. Learn proper technique for punches and kicks while ramping up your fitness level to increase cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, core integration and flexibility. No experience necessary! CIRCUIT TRAINING Total body workout circuit style. This class offers stations of cardio, strength, plyometric and core training focus. Maximize calorie burn and total body training.

PUMP & PLYOS This class combines all the benefits of a Pump workout with plyometric drills to maximize anaerobic training, power and calorie burining. Class style will vary to offer benefits of cross training. All levels welcome. STEP INTERVAL If you like to pack in a time-efficient cardio and strength workout over lunch, then get ready to step, then work free-weights in timed intervals. The step patterns will be simple; the weights will focus on upper body muscular endurance.

COMPLETE CORE This class is designed to strengthen your core with a mix of bodyweight, cardio, and resistance training exercises! recreation.ucsb.edu|Fall 2016 | 3

From Our New Director DIRECTORY

A

s a new member of the UCSB family, I have taken the past summer to assess the current status of the Recreation Department. It is evident the department plays a major role in the lives of the entire UCSB community, especially those of our students. The programs and services we offer are woven into the fabric of our campus culture.

As you will see in these pages, Recreation has a proud tradition of engaging students, faculty, staff and community members in a broad array of programs and services. Whether it is at the tennis courts, out on the Storke fields, in Rob Gym, using the climbing wall, swimming in the pool, taking one of our Gaucho REC classes, or just working out in the weight room, we have lots of opportunities available just for you. We strive to provide opportunities for everyone to Find Your Fit!! In addition to managing the recreational facilities on our campus, our professional staff and student employees deliver ongoing programs and services including intramural sports, outdoor adventures, aquatics programs, mind/body classes, sport clubs, leisure activities, and a variety of wellness services. We are grateful for the opportunity to

engage with such a large number of our community members in so many different ways. As we look into the future for UCSB Recreation, the opportunities are abundant. Due to an increasing enrollment and the already popular demand for what we provide, space development will continue to be a top priority for our department. The changing landscape of education and society also demands a higher level of programming around individual and community wellness. Spaces that provide the opportunity for academic and social connectivity will be a vital consideration in our planning to meet the needs of our future students. On behalf of all of us in the Recreation Department, thank you for your interest and support as we work to develop and maintain the best possible experiences for you, the UCSB community. It is with great respect that we honor our proud history while at the same time plan for the amazing opportunities of the future. Be well, Jeff Huskey Director of Recreation
