He followed that with his sixth double-double of the year, 18 points and 11 rebounds, UConn upended Cincinnati at the XL Center in Hartford. In addition to his five Player of the Week selections, Napier has also been named to the league’s weekly Honor Roll eight times this season. Two other Huskies, junior DeAndre Daniels, and freshman Amida Brimah, have also earned weekly honors from the American Athletic Conference this season. Rookie of the Week: Amida Brimah (1): Jan. 13 GRAND MASTERS: With his first point against Memphis on Feb. 15, in the 79th game of his college career, junior Ryan Boatright became the 48th member of UConn’s 1,000-point club. Boatright joins senior Shabazz Napier as 1,000point scorers on the same team. The last time the Huskies had more than one 1,000-point scorer on the same team was in 2008-09, when that UConn team had four -- Jeff Adrien, A.J. Price, Jerome Dyson, and Hasheem Thabeet. RECORD WATCH: Through 29 games, the Huskies are making a run at a few UConn season records. The record for highest 3-point shooting percentage is 40.8 percent in 1995-96. Currently, the Huskies are shooting 38.9 percent. The UConn record for highest foul shooting percentage is 78.2 percent in 1980-81, which was also No. 1 in the country. Currently, the Huskies are shooting 77.1 percent from the foul line. The highest per game average of three-point attempts stands at 17.3 in 2010-11. UConn’s average so far this season is 18.2. The highest per game average of three-pointers made is 7.4 in 1995-96. Currently, the Huskies are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game. 20 OFF THE BENCH: With 20 points against UCF on January 11, freshman Amida Brimah became the first UConn player under Coach Kevin Ollie to come off the bench and score 20 points. The last UConn player to accomplish that feat was Ryan Boatright, who came off the bench to score 23 against Arkansas on December 3, 2011, under former Coach Jim Calhoun. UConn started the second half on a 9-2 run to take the lead for good. SECOND-HALF RALLY: After shooting just 29.2 percent in the first half, scoring a season-low 22 points, and trailing 28-22 at halftime, UConn took over in the second half to defeat USF, 61-56, on Feb. 26 in Tampa. The Huskies, who shot 56.0 percent in the second half, went on an 18-0 run, holding the Bulls scoresss for a 7:00 stretch, on their way to their second victory over USF this season. Senior Shabazz Napier scored 17 points, 15 in the second half, grabbed 4 rebounds and handed out 7 assists to lead UConn. Junior Ryan Boatright had 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists, while senior Niels Giffey had 11 points and 5 rebounds. WALKIN’ TALL IN MEMPHIS: UConn won its first American Athletic Conference road game with an 83-73 victory at Memphis before 18,039 at the FedExForum on Jan. 16.
