2006-07 Final Four First came the South Central Regional in Warrensburg at the Multipurpose Building. The crowds were waiting in line more than two hours before the championship game to get tickets and some fans even tailgated beforehand. It was the biggest crowd of the entire NCAA Division II Tournament at 6,300. It was also the largest crowd to see a basketball game in Warrensburg since the 80s. On Tuesday, March 13 2007, the Central Missouri Mules defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State by a score of 67-54 to take the regional title and cut down the nets (below). After the conclusion of the game, the students stormed the floor and celebrated with the team (bottom left). The win made it 23 in a row for the Mules at the Multi and capped a perfect 18-0 season at UCM in 2006-07 (the first time since 1984). The next step was the Elite Eight in Springfield, Mass. and the Mules made their second ever trip to the Final Four after an 86-69 win against Montevallo (Ala.). They lost to defending national champion and the No. 1 team in the nation, Winona State (Minn.), by an 90-85 score in overtime. Zack Wright scored 33 points in the game and was named to the Elite Eight All-Tournament Team for his play.
