COMMUNITY SERVICE Each year members of the UCF volleyball team donate their me to worthy causes around central Florida. Team members have helped disabled children play baseball as part of the Miracle League and have also gone to local elementary schools to read to students and teach them about the game of volleyball. For the past three seasons, the Knights have been teaming up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Founda on to help in the fight against breast cancer by holding an annual ‘Dig for the Cure’ match. Fans pledge money for every dig the team records during a specified match, with all proceeds benefi ng the Susan G. Komen Founda on. In 2008, the Black and Gold tallied 72 digs in its ‘Dig for the Cure’ match against Conference USA-foe UTEP.
