GAMEDAY EXCITEMENT Thanks to Conference USA’s most state-of-the-art volleyball facility and hundreds of loyal fans, the UCF volleyball team enjoys a special home-court advantage at The Venue at UCF. The Knights took care of their compe on at the new facility a year ago, pos ng five home victories, defea ng three teams in the league that they had previously never beaten and playing for first place in the C-USA standings midway through the season. During the 2008 campaign, the Knights’ energy and success was contagious, as they averaged 482 fans in their first season playing in The Venue, an 86 percent increase from their 259 fans per match in 2007. Overall, the Black and Gold entertained a total of 4,819 UCF loyal, which was a 46 percent jump from 2007 in three fewer matches.

BLOCK PARTY The UCF volleyball team has its very own cheering sec on called the Block Party. Members of this rowdy crowd stand, clap and cheer the en re dura on of the match.

UCFâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s na onally-ranked cheerleading squad keeps the crowd on its feet and cheering during the volleyball matches, while the student sec on stands, stomps, jumps, claps and yells for the Knights. Seats are available in the end zones and courtside at all UCF volleyball matches so fans can feel like they are right in the thick of the ac on. Just because the match is over, does not mean that the excitement ends there. The Knights are available a er most home matches to sign autographs and also greet fans, family and friends.

UCF ATMOSPHERE The na onally recognized UCF cheerleading squad and the UCF pep band make appearances at all of the Knightsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; home matches.

THE VENUE AT UCF One of the elite volleyball-only facili es in the na on, The Venue at UCF seats 2,000 fans for volleyball matches and is located on the north side of campus. Formerly the UCF Arena, the facility was completely renovated and re-opened in April 2008 as an 87,000-square foot mul purpose, air-condi oned facility. The 31,000-square foot first floor at The Venue contains locker rooms, player lounges and an equipment room. From the locker room, student-athletes have access to a state-of-the-art sports medicine facility. A 2,000-square foot weight room is also located on the first floor. The weight room provides the Knights with access to free weight and machine equipment, cardio and treadmills.

SMASHING RECORDS The UCF volleyball team played in front of a record-breaking crowd of 1,568 Black and Gold faithful when it opened The Venue at UCF against na onal powerhouse Stanford on Sept. 2, 2008.

ALL-IN-ONE FACILITY The Knights have everything they need to be a successful volleyball program all in one convenient package at The Venue at UCF. The facility includes UCF’s gameday playing court, locker room, weightroom, sports medicine facility, video room, coaches’ oﬃces and is connected to all the modern ameni es at the UCF Arena.

The second level contains spacious office and meeting space for the women’s volleyball staff, as well as the men’s and women’s basketball staffs. It also houses prac ce courts for the UCF men’s and women’s basketball teams. UCF’s gameday playing surface is now a state-of-the-art Sport Court. Sport Court has been the official playing surface of USA Volleyball for the past 18 years, and has been the only court surface used for the men’s and women’s NCAA Volleyball Championships for the last 16 years. The UCF volleyball team opened The Venue in prime form on Sept. 2, 2008, when it hosted eventual NCAA na onal-runner up, Stanford, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 1,568 fans. The capacity crowd in a endance helped the Knights honor members of UCF’s 1978 AIAW na onal championship squad with a banner-dropping ceremony.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING/SPORTS MEDICINE The strength and condi oning program is an integral component of UCF’s volleyball program. The most visible sign of the Knights’ commitment in this area is a 2,000-square foot weight room located in the The Venue at UCF. The state-of-the-art facility contains the finest free weight and machine equipment, cardio equipment and treadmills. UCF also houses a weight room in the Wayne Densch Sports Center. Five cer fied strength and condi oning coaches monitor the progress of UCF’s student-athletes. The UCF sports medicine facili es are fully equipped with the most up-to-date technology, including a SwimEx aqua c therapy pool, used to aid in advanced rehabilita on of the elite student-athlete. The main athle c training room is located in the Wayne Densch Sports Center with addi onal loca ons at The Venue, Jay Bergman Field, the UCF So ball Complex and the brand-new UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center. The sports medicine staff consists of six full me athle c trainers, seven graduate assistant athle c trainers and approximately 60 undergraduate athle c training students.

Star ng with zero to 30,000 gallons per minute water ﬂow, pa ents in ini al stages of rehab can begin aqua c therapy sooner due to the buoyancy of water. Aqua c therapy treatment can extend into a full range of training and condi oning.

TOWERS AT KNIGHTS PLAZA Numerous members of the UCF volleyball team reside on campus at the Towers at Knights Plaza, modern apartment-style dormitories on the north side of campus which allow the Knights to live within close proximity to The Venue at UCF and UCF’s other athle cs facili es. The apartments feature common kitchen and living room areas as well as four single bedrooms with full-size beds. Each bedroom includes high-speed Internet access, cable television and local phone service. The Towers at Knights Plaza feature 100,000square feet of retail shops and restaurants. Tenants include Barnes & Noble bookstore, Subway and Knightro’s cafeteria, where UCF student-athletes dine. The apartments are located near the majority of the athle cs facili es, including The Venue at UCF, Bright House Networks Stadium, UCF Arena, Jay Bergman Field, the UCF So ball Complex and the UCF Track and Field and Soccer Complex. The Towers at Knights Plaza are also in close proximity to the Wayne Densch Sports Center and Nicholson Fieldhouse.

APARTMENT-STYLE LIVING The apartments in the Towers at Knights Plaza feature common kitchen and living room areas as well as four single bedrooms with full-size beds.

SHOPPING CONVENIENCE Students living in the Towers can dine and shop at establishments like Tailgaters Smokehouse Restaurant, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, Knightro’s Cafeteria, Red Brick Oven Pizza, Jimmy John’s, Subway, Papa John’s and Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream.

COACHING EXCELLENCE Experience, knowledge, tenacity, enthusiasm and youth only begin to describe Todd Dagenais and his coaching staff. Members of the staff posess all of the elements to help the Knights succeed both on and off the court: college playing experience, postseason appearances, na onal-team experience, knowledge of the ins and outs of the game and most importantly, a passion for UCF volleyball. Head coach Todd Dagenais is in his second campaign with the Knights. In his inaugural season at the helm of the volleyball squad, Dagenais guided the Black and Gold to its most successful season since 2003. The Knights posted a 15-17 overall record under the first-year skipper, their best mark in five years, and matched their best Conference USA record, going 6-10 in the fi h-toughest volleyball conference in the na on. Prior to taking over the UCF program, Dagenais spent three seasons as the assistant head coach at the University of Southern California where he helped guide the Women of Troy to a 29-5 record in 2007 and a trip to the NCAA Final Four for the fourth me in six seasons. USC closed out a successful 2007 campaign by ranking third in the final American Volleyball Coaches Associa on (AVCA) poll. Dagenais has totaled 13 years of volleyball coaching experience, da ng back to 1995. A former AVCA All-America middle blocker, Michelle Chatman enters her second season as an assistant coach with the Knights’ volleyball squad. Chatman has four years of coaching experience, including s nts at Georgetown and her alma mater, Florida. During her four seasons as a middle

blocker for the Gators, Chatman and the volleyball team posted a 126-10 overall record and made fourconsecu ve appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including the NCAA Final Four in 2002 and the na onal championship match in 2003. Erik Peterson enters his first season as an assistant coach with the UCF volleyball program. Prior to taking the posi on with the Knights, Peterson spent four seasons as the assistant coach at USF, where he helped guide the squad from a 4-22 record in his first season with the team to a 19-10 record in three-short years. Peterson was hired at USF a er having worked with the USA Women’s Na onal Team as it prepared for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. The newly appointed assistant coach began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Florida in 2003. That season, he helped lead the Gators to the NCAA Championship match and a 36-2 record. Returning as the Knights’ volunteer assistant coach in 2009, Tyler Adams brings a wealth of both coaching and playing experience to the UCF coaching staff. Adams coached and played for the FC Schü orf, a professional men’s volleyball team in Europe, helping guide his Second Division squad to a league championship in 2008. Adams also spent five years playing for the UCF men’s club volleyball team. He was honored by the NIRSA as a second team All-American in 2008. From 2006-08 Adams served as a player coach for the club team, before taking over the team as the head coach in 2009.

TOP-NOTCH EXPERIENCE The Knights’ coaching staﬀ has a total of 30 years of toplevel coaching experience between them.

HISTORY OF SUCCESS UCF’s 35-year volleyball history has been marked by championship tles and con nued success. The Knights have built a tradi on as one of the region’s elite programs. Since 1994, the program has made seven trips to the NCAA Championship. The Knights made four-consecu ve NCAA Championship appearances, all under head coach Laura Smith, from 1994-97. In 1997, UCF advanced to the second round of the postseason for the ﬁrst me in school history, pos ng an opening-round victory over Clemson. Since 2001, the Knights have made three NCAA appearances, moving into the second round of the tournament for the second me in program history in 2003 a er winning their third-consecu ve A-Sun Championship.

UNSTOPPABLE From 1993-97, the UCF volleyball squad dominated its Atlan c Sun compi on, pos ng a 36-0 league mark over the ﬁve-year stretch. During that me, the Knights made four-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament and one trip to the Na onal Invita onal Volleyball Championship.

HISTORY IS MADE The 1978 AIAW Na onal Championship team is the only squad in UCF volleyball history to go undefeated in a season. During their run to the championship crown, the Knights tallied a perfect 55-0 record.

UCF began its volleyball program in 1975, with Lucy McDaniel serving as the team’s ﬁrst coach. In 1977, the Knights won a school-record 56 matches. A year later in 1978, the team went a perfect 55-0 and claimed the AIAW Na onal Championship. That season, Celes ne Wilson and Laura Smith earned Division II All-America honors. All- me, UCF players have received All-America honors on six occasions. Most recently, Jenny Frank earned AVCA honorable men on recogni on in 2003.

ALL-AMERICAN Se er Jenny Frank became the Knights’ ﬁrst AVCA All-American honoree at the Division I level when she was named a honorable men on selec on in 2003. Frank also garnered AVCA All-District, Atlan c Sun Player of the Year, All-A-Sun First Team and A-Sun All-Tournament Team honors that same season.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS UCF volleyball players are expected to excel not only on the court, but in the classroom as well. In the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores, which measure eligibility, reten on and gradua on over a four-year period, all 16 teams at UCF exceeded the NCAA’s standards. Of the 12 Florida schools which have competed at the Division I level annually since 2004, UCF’s 962 average mul -year APR ranks third, trailing only Miami and Florida. UCF’s 962 average placed it sixth overall in Conference USA and third amongst league-public schools, narrowly trailing Marshall and Memphis in that regards. The volleyball program has me and again proven its commitment to academic excellence. Since joining Conference USA before the 2005-06 season, Knights volleyball players have been recognized with C-USA academic honors 37 mes. In 2008, middle-blocker Jenny Heppert became the program’s first ESPN The Magazine Academic AllAmerican, a er being named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team two-consecu ve years. Heppert also went on to earn C-USA Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, as well as making her secondstraight appearance on the C-USA All-Academic Team. The Knights’ volleyball squad placed a program-record 10 student-athletes on the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll in 2008, while also se ng another program-record with three student-athletes receiving the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal for maintaining a 3.75 GPA or be er. UCF student-athletes are supported by a nine-person professional staff of advisors and program coordinators from the Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA). The ASSA mission is to support studentathletes’ academic development while exceeding sa sfactory progress toward their degrees. ASSA advisors coordinate tutoring, mentoring, study sessions, and priority class registra on for all current student-athletes and assist new Knights through the recruitment process. UCF student-athletes receive specific academic and athle c informa on at orienta on as well as study skills and me management instruc on throughout the year. More than 50 computers are available for a student-athlete’s use any me during the academic year.

C-USA ACADEMIC HONORS Sophomore Kris n Fisher was one of a UCF volleyball-record three student-athletes to earn the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal in 2008. Besides Fisher, Jenny Heppert and Ka e Riley were also recognized by the league. The award is given to student-athletes who have maintained a 3.75 GPA or be er.

COMMUNITY SERVICE Each year members of the UCF volleyball team donate their me to worthy causes around central Florida. Team members have helped disabled children play baseball as part of the Miracle League and have also gone to local elementary schools to read to students and teach them about the game of volleyball. For the past three seasons, the Knights have been teaming up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Founda on to help in the fight against breast cancer by holding an annual ‘Dig for the Cure’ match. Fans pledge money for every dig the team records during a specified match, with all proceeds benefi ng the Susan G. Komen Founda on. In 2008, the Black and Gold tallied 72 digs in its ‘Dig for the Cure’ match against Conference USA-foe UTEP.

CONFERENCE USA UCF is a member of Conference USA, which is consistently rated among the top volleyball leagues in the na on. C-USA features 12 na onally prominent, tradi on-rich members in East Carolina, Houston, Marshall, Memphis, Rice, SMU, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, UCF and UTEP. The Knights joined the league prior to the 2005-06 campaign. C-USA was originally formed in 1995 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Bri on Banowsky serves as the league’s commissioner.

Four C-USA players have earned AVCA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year accolades • Houston and Memphis are listed among the NCAA all- me winningest volleyball programs • Former Marshall standout Kelly-Anne Billingy, a three- me AVCA All-American honorable-men on selec on, led the na on in kills per game and finished with 668 (6.61 per game) in 2006. Billingy became the first three- me C-USA Player of the Year selec on and was voted Sports Impact/AVCA Na onal Player of the Week • Houston head coach Bill Walton ranks 11th on the NCAA Division I women’s volleyball total-career wins list with 659 • Houston has made 11 NCAA Championship appearances since 1989. In your first year with the program last season, the team finished with a 15-17 record, its best finish since 2003, and recorded its most Conference USA wins in school history. What are your expecta ons for your second year with the Knights with eight newcomers on your roster? “Our goal this year is to do everything that we can to become a top-75 program, and that is going to be a big challenge. We lost a big percentage of our offense when we lost (Stephanie) Serna, (Jenny) Heppert and Janine (Williams) to gradua on. But, the good news is that I think, athle cally, we are superior to what we were last year, but experience-wise we are not even close. So, it depends on how quickly the experiencefactor starts to take hold with the younger players. If we can get them experienced and get them gameready then we are going to have a lot of op ons to be able to score points. But, I am also realis c. Some mes those things can take two or three months before they actually kick in, so it is really just going to be based on the learning curve of everybody to be able to make up those points. If we can make up those points then we are going to be able to start reaching our expecta ons.” You arranged for the team to play a pre y tough schedule this season, which includes 16 matches at The Venue at UCF. How is this schedule going to challenge the team and prepare it to reach the expecta ons you set for it this season? “The nice thing about this year is that we have so many more matches at home. Opening at home is going to be a big deal with all the younger players. Then we have some big things on the horizon.

“I think that the non-conference schedule is going to be challenging for us. We are going to see a wide variety of teams and a wide variety of styles and I think that is going to be really good for us to face that kind of diversity, because once we get into our league schedule, it is going to be a war.

“I really think that Conference USA is going to be tough this year. I just think there are going to be so many teams that are going to be so much be er. All I know is that all we can do is prepare week-by-week for whatever we have in front of us, because if you look at the totality of it, it can get pre y ominous. But, the schedule itself is going to provide us with a big test this year. Looking at it as a whole it allows us to grow a li le bit and it allows us to give some people some experience on the floor. But, on the flipside it really is going to test us and we are going to find out how good we are. If we are lucky enough to get through this conference and we can get a winning record, we are certainly going to be in the top-100 and on our way to being a top-75 program.” Two of your three se ers from last year are back to run the offense. How do you think each is going to contribute to the success of your offense? “The one se er that we have that has stayed consistent is Andee Youngblood. Andee played a lot of me for us last year, especially in a 6-2 offense. Now, we will probably look more for her to run a 5-1 offense. Athle cally, she can play in the front row, she can block and she is not a liability in any way. She has worked so hard on her loca on and her selec on in the offseason and right now she is doing a really nice job of running the offense. I know for sure she is going to factor into the se ng, because being a senior now she has that leadership behind her and she is really raring to go. She has really prepared for this year. “Renele Forde spent the en re summer se ng for the Trinidad and Tobago Na onal Team, so she has played against the elite teams in the world as a se er, and you cannot discount that type of experience. If she comes along the way that we think she can, it would make a lot of sense to run both her and Andee on the floor.

“We also had Jennifer Belew join us this fall. She is very eager to learn, works really hard, has this really great compe veness about her and the team loves her. She comes from a great family of hard-workers and I would expect nothing but the best out of her.” Despite the return of Erin Campbell at the outside hi ng posi on, the team lost a big chunk of its offense to gradua on. Who do you think will step up and compensate for those missing points?

Erin Campbell “I think that the outside posi on is one of the posi ons that are wide open right now. Erin Campbell obviously comes back as our returning kills leader, point scorer and has all of the experience. So, I think that on paper it makes sense that she should probably be in that outside hi ng posi on. But, we brought in a couple new people this year, including Bri anie Wallace. She transfers in from Sam Houston State and has two years of collegiate experience. She is a nice allaround player and comes from a very high-level club program.

PREVIEWING THE 2009 SEASON WITH HEAD COACH TODD DAGENAIS “The wildcard is Angelica Crump. She doesn’t have a ton of high-level experience, but she has been trained pre y well. One thing that we are no cing already is that she is learning very quickly. Another factor is that she has been jump-tested at 10-4, which is elite. That could very well be the highest jump-touch of anyone in the conference. So, you cannot ignore that kind of athle c ability. “It is going to be interes ng to see how our oﬀense evolves. Are we going to go with the experience, are we going to go with the athle cism? I don’t know how we are going to do it, but I know that both Bri anie and Erin are athle c enough to score in this conference and they have the experience, but you cannot discount the athle c ability that an Angelica Crump brings. “We also have Kris n Fisher. She has been another one of those solid players all the way through. As Kris n con nues to develop in the back court you cannot discount the possibility that she can start a match at any given me and we would be just ﬁne.”

“Another wildcard that we brought in on the right side is Evija Vilde. Her father was a very high level interna onal player for the former Soviet Union, so we are hoping that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. She is a very accomplished, well-rounded player and she is already showing li le glimpses of what she can really do. I think that it is going to be really diﬃcult to not have her on the ﬂoor.” Lauren Williams returns at the middle posi on a er ranking second on the team in blocks per game and total blocks. Now that she is a junior what do you expect from her? Who else do you see making an impact in the middle-blocker posi on? “This year, that is the posi on that I am most excited about. We return Lauren Williams, who hit almost .300 last year. She has been working hard on her blocking, so she could become one of the conference’s elite blockers.

Lauren Williams How do you replace AVCA All-Midwest Region Honorable Men on selec on Stephanie Serna on the right side? “Right now it looks like Renele has put herself in the leader’s posi on to start on the right side. Her a acking has really come along in the last six months and her blocking is superior. She is one of the best blockers in the conference. “Also, I was really excited about seeing Ka e Riley after one year from the ﬁrst me she walked in and she is so much more technical and so much stronger then what she was before. We are s ll working on ge ng the velocity of her a acks up with her, but blockingwise she is solid.

“Sara Rex comes back in great shape. Of all the players, she took to the training be er than anybody else in the en re program. She is so fluid and so solid technically right now that it is going to be really hard to ignore her in that posi on. “I am also really excited about the freshmen in this posi on. Nichole Riedel played with two elite clubs in Colorado and played an elite na onal schedule, and it has rubbed off on her. Right now, we could put her in a college match and she would be fine. I don’t know how many points she would score, but she would block. She wouldn’t make mistakes in the front row and she would read the right things and the right cues. She could come in and play right now. “Tory McCutcheon is a longer body than Nichole and she was one of the top middle blockers up in Canada. In prac ces, she has shown glimpses of brilliance.”

You have a couple of new faces at the libero posi on this season. Who do you see taking over that posi on? “I thought that one of the things that we sorely lacked last year was consistent ball control. This year, it is a complete 180. We have terrific ball control. Kristen Petrasic returns having two years under her belt, and she has vastly improved over last year. We have Meredith Murphy coming in from Aus n. She has played with the best recruits in the country and that is a high level of experience. I think that she is also game-ready right now. She hasn’t quite seen the speed of the collegiate game, but I feel that she could probably adapt pre y fast. “Lastly, I am very pleasantly surprised with how efficient Dani Harrison is right now. She is just gutsy. She is just a gutsy gamer, hard-worker and smart player. She also transfers instruc on quickly into the game. “One of them is going to be the libero and the other two are going to be defensive specialists. Either way we have three quality back-row players, and that is a luxury that most teams do not have.” Who do you think is going to stand out this season in a team full of newcomers? “I think this year is really going to be a year of team. I do not think that we are going to have any stars this year and I am okay with that. I am okay with having seven people on the floor and not one of them being a star, everybody just does their job. I told them that I want each of them to do their job to the best of their ability. We are not going to get by with having a star; we are not going to get by with se ng someone 50 mes a set. It is just not going to work with this group. I think that if we get people to func on within their role and get everybody to really be in it for the team, I think that we can be way be er than what our experience level says we should be. Our experience says that we shouldn’t be as good as we were last year, and I am not sure that I am going to buy into that. I feel like we can be as good as we were last year, maybe even a li le bit be er. But, the caveat is that we have a lot of work to do to get to that point.”

HEAD COACH TODD DAGENAIS SECOND SEASON • CENTRAL MICHIGAN, 1995

Todd Dagenais enters his second season as the Knights’ head coach in 2009. In his first campaign at UCF, Dagenais made his presence known and proved quickly that he has what it takes to put UCF volleyball on the na onal map. Under Dagenais, the Knights posted a 15-17 overall record, its best mark since 2003, and matched its best Conference USA record, going 6-10 in the fi h-toughest volleyball conference in the na on. UCF jumped from No. 244 to No. 113 on the NCAA Women’s Volleyball RPI with Dagenais at the helm, an improvement of 131 spots and defeated five teams in C-USA that it had never previously beaten: East Carolina, Marshall, SMU, Tulsa and UTEP. Addi onal firsts for the UCF volleyball program were acheived under the guidance of Dagenais as Jenny Heppert became the first UCF volleyball player to be named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American® a er being named to the second team in 2008, while Stephanie Serna became the first Knight to be voted onto an All-C-USA Volleyball Team, earning second-team honors at the conclusion of the season. Serna would then go on to earn AVCA All-Midwest Regional Honorable Men on honors. Lauren Rosenthal added to the firsts when she became the first UCF volleyball player to be named a C-USA Player of the Week, earning Se er of the Week honors on two occasions. Dagenais also managed to bring in one of the most dominant volleyball teams in NCAA history when Stanford helped the Knights open the newly completed Venue at UCF on Sept. 2. A record 1,568 fans came to the opening match in which Dagenias and the Knights also honored the 1978 UCF volleyball squad that claimed the AIAW Na onal Championship. In the offseason, Dagenais served as a member of the staff at the U.S. Women’s Na onal Team Open Tryout at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Dagenais was a court coach and evaluator at the event, pu ng the players through physical tes ng, drills and match play. The skipper was also selected by Championship Produc ons, one of the countries leading sports instruc onal video companies, to make an instruc onal video on how to train a libero. Before assuming the post at UCF, Dagenais spent three seasons as the assistant head coach at the University of Southern California where he helped guide the Women of Troy to a 29-5 record in 2007 and a trip to the 2007

NCAA Final Four for the fourth me in six seasons. USC closed out a successful 2007 campaign by ranking third in the final American Volleyball Coaches Associa on (AVCA) poll. Coach Dagenais was also part of the USA Volleyball Na onal Team Coaching Delega on to the 2004 summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He spent prior me as a volunteer assistant coach with the USA Na onal Team and joined the team on domes c and foreign tours. Since his involvement in the 2004 Olympics, Dagenais has con nued his work with USA volleyball as a lead court coach and director of USA High Performance tryouts. Adding to his coaching accomplishments in 2007, Dagenais was the head coach for the USA White Select Na onal Team that won the silver medal at the USA Volleyball High Performance Na onal Championships. Prior to his appointment at USC, Dagenais spent one season with USA Volleyball working to iden fy and develop future Na onal Team players. From 1998-2003 he served as the Associate Head Volleyball Coach at Michigan State University where it competed in the NCAA Tournament all five seasons during Dagenais’ tenure. Dagenais was also an assistant coach at Northern Michigan in 1998, serving as the recrui ng and travel coordinator for the Wildcats which competed in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Dagenais received his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine (with an emphasis in exercise physiology) from Central Michigan in 1995. He played on the Chippewas’ men’s club team for four years and was also a cer fied athle c trainer. His coaching philosophy has been a fusion of several different styles learned while working under Former Na onal Team and Michigan State head coach Chuck Erbe, 2000 Olympic Team head coach Toshi Yoshida, and 2004 Olympic head coach and current University of Southern California head coach Mick Haley.

“Chuck taught me that the discipline of the game is paramount to a student-athlete over-achieving on and off the court,” Dagenais said. “Toshi taught me to see the game at the Interna onal Level, and showed me how a small ma er of a few degrees of excellence means the difference of being in posi on to be successful or not. Mick is probably the most amazing people manager I have ever worked with. He is such a crea ve volleyball thinker, always finding a way to maximize individual members of a team toward a collec ve goal. I learned so much from his ability to manage a match in the most cri cal situa ons.”

ASSISTANT COACH MICHELLE CHATMAN SECOND SEASON • FLORIDA, 2006 Michelle Chatman is in her second season as part of the UCF volleyball staff. She serves as the program’s recrui ng coordinator, director of opera ons and middle-blocker coach. Chatman came to UCF a er serving the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Georgetown University. As an assistant at Georgetown, Chatman coordinated all recrui ng efforts, while also serving as the director of opera ons for the team, managing travel and equipment. Prior to being named an assistant at Georgetown, Chatman spent the 2005 season as a student assistant coach at the University of Florida, her alma mater. While assis ng the Gators, the team posted a 33-3 overall record and made an appearance in the NCAA elite eight. Chatman was a four-year le erwinner while a member of the Gators’ squad and was named an American Volleyball Coaches Associa on (AVCA) All-American Honorable Men on selec on as a middle blocker following her 2004 season. Chatman earned her first All-America honor of her career a er a senior season that saw her post the ninth-best singleseason hi ng percentage in UF history (.393). Chatman also garnered AVCA East Region accolades in 2002. During her four seasons as a Gator, the volleyball team posted a 126-10 overall record and made four-consecu ve appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including the NCAA Final Four in 2002 and the na onal championship match in 2003. Chatman has also managed camps for the Girls Club of Alachua County (Fla.) and was an assistant coach for the Gainesville Juniors Volleyball Club. ASSISTANT COACH ERIK PETERSON FIRST SEASON • CONCORDIA COLLEGE (N.Y.), 1999 Erik Peterson enters his first season as an assistant coach for the UCF volleyball team and brings with him a wealth of experience coaching at almost every level of play. Over the past year, Peterson has been coaching the 14 Asics team of the Orlando Volleyball Academy, where he led the team to the highest finish for any Florida club team in a na onal compe on when his team won the 2009 AAU 14 Open Na onal Championship and took third at the 2009 USA V Junior Olympics in the 14 Open. Prior to coaching in Orlando, Peterson spent four seasons as the assistant coach at USF. While with the Bulls, he helped guide the squad from a 4-22 record in his first season with the team to a 19-10 record in three-short years. Peterson’s primary du es at USF were developing the skills of both the outside hi ers and defensive specialists and serving as the secondary recruiter and director of volleyball opera ons. Peterson was hired at USF a er having worked with the USA Women’s Na onal Team as it prepared for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. As an assistant with the na onal team, he assisted the head coach in all facets of prac ce progression and also took classes at the USOC coaching sciences department. Peterson began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Florida in 2003. That season, he helped lead the Gators to the NCAA Championship match and a 36-2 record. Peterson’s primary du es while at Florida were assis ng with on-court training and individual sessions, scou ng of opponents’ offensive tendencies and char ng video for the All-America selec on commi ee. The assistant’s first coaching opportunity was at McIntosh High School in 1999. As the head coach of the freshman team, he led his squad to a 15-1 record. Peterson then moved into club coaching as the assistant coach of the South Atlanta Volleyball Club. In 2002, he returned to McIntosh High to serve as the head coach of the junior varsity team and the interim head coach of the varsity team, leading the varsity squad to its first appearance in the Elite Eight. Peterson remains ac vely involved in the USA Volleyball Development Program. In the summer of 2006, he was an assistant coach at the Youth A2 High Performance Camp in Colorado Springs, Colo. In that posi on, Peterson assisted in the training of the top-50 players in the youth na onal team age group under the guidance of Chuck Erbe, trained the outside hi ers and coached the Youth Na onal Team USA Gold to a fi h-place finish at the Junior Na onal Tournament interna onal division at the USA High Performance Championships. A graduate of Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., Peterson earned his bachelor’s degree in biology in 1999. While at Concordia, Peterson was a member of the men’s intercollegiate volleyball team from 1994-98, serving as captain his final two seasons. He was dis nguished as the 1995 Concordia College Freshman Athlete of the Year and was named to numerous all-tournament teams. During his senior campaign he set a NCAA record for career digs with 1,103.

Tyler Adams enters his second year as a volunteer assistant coach for the UCF volleyball team in 2009 a er serving in the same posi on for the 2007 season. Prior to assuming his role on the Knights’ staﬀ, Adams coached and played for the FC Schü orf men’s professional volleyball team in Schü orf Germany, helping guide his squad to a league championship in 2008. Adams also spent ﬁve years playing for the UCF men’s club volleyball team. He was honored by the NIRSA as a second team AllAmerican in 2008. From 2006-08 Adams served as a player coach for the club team, before taking over the team as a head coach in 2009. Adams graduated from UCF with a degree in psychology in May 2008.

JENNIFER ALGER

Tracy Prosser enters her fifth year at UCF as an assistant strength and condi oning coach. She works directly with the Knights’ women’s basketball, volleyball, so ball and men’s and women’s soccer teams. Addi onally, she assists with the strength and condi oning du es for the football team. Prior to UCF, Prosser spent ﬁve years at her alma mater, Xavier University. As an assistant at Xavier, Prosser worked with all 16 of the Musketeer athle c teams. During her me at Xavier, the women’s basketball and volleyball teams combined for top-four ﬁnishes each year in the Atlan c 10 Conference, three NCAA appearances and two WNIT appearances. Prosser earned a bachelor’s of science degree in health and physical educa on in 1998. She earned her master’s of educa on in sport administra on in 2002 from Xavier. During her undergraduate career she was also a member of the Musketeer women’s soccer team.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR ACADEMIC SERVICES Jennifer Alger has been with Academic Services for Student-Athletes since January 2004. She is currently the lead advisor for volleyball, men’s basketball and baseball. In addi on to advising, Alger is the liason with UCF Orienta on Services as well as the event coordinator for ASSA. She began her career with ASSA as an assistant advisor for the football team, while earning her master’s degree in sports business management from the DeVos Sports Business Management Program at UCF. Alger recieved her bachelor’s of science degree in marke ng from St. John’s University (N.Y.). While at St. John’s, Alger was a member of the swim team, compe ng in the individual medley and distance freestyle events.

JOHN WHITFORD ASSISTANT EQUIPMENT MANAGER John Whi ord is in his sixth season at UCF as an assistant equipment manager. Whi ord oversees equipment and supplies for the Knights’ volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s cross country and track and field programs. A 1995 graduate of Manchester College in Indiana, he served as the head basketball manager from 1991-95 and also was a member of the golf team in 1993-94. Whi ord later served as an assistant golf coach at Manchester in 1995. Prior to UCF, he worked as an assistant equipment manager at Ferris State from 1998-03, where he handled football du es. Whi ord married Amy Rhode in March 2007. The couple gave birth to their ﬁrst child, Andrew, in May 2008.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER Allison Honeycu is entering her first year serving as the athletic trainer for the Knights volleyball squad. Prior to joining the sports medicine staff at UCF as a graduate assistant, Honeycu was an athle c training intern at Disney’s Wide World of Sports during the spring of 2009. A 2008 graduate of East Carolina University, Honeycu worked with the Pirates’ volleyball, track & field, cross country, football, cheerleading and men’s basketball teams as an athle c training student, while also assis ng at the ECU Family Medicine Prac ce and Hoggard High School. Honeycu has also worked at Gatorade Sports Camps and the ECU Recrea on Center as a first responder. 2008 SEASON IN REVIEW Head coach Todd Dagenais made his presence known in 2008, taking the UCF volleyball team from down and out in 2007 to a worthy compe tor in his first season with the Knights. The Black and Gold posted a 15-17 overall record, its best mark since 2003, and matched its best Conference USA record, going 6-10 in the fi h-toughest volleyball conference in the na on, Conference USA. Eight is Great UCF’s eighth-place e in C-USA last season was its highest finish since joining the league in 2005 and its No. 9 ranking in the C-USA Championship was its best placing since its inaugural season, when the Knights entered the tournament with the same seeding and same 6-10 league mark.

Academic All-America Senior Jenny Heppert was honored by the College Sports Informa on Directors of America (CoSIDA) with a spot on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Volleyball Second Team. Heppert became the ﬁrst UCF volleyball player to garner Academic All-America® honors and was the only Conference USA representa ve on any squad. The senior graduated in the spring with a degree in biology. Heppert started the streak on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2007, a er totaling 4.0 total blocks against Southern Miss and concluded the streak a er pos ng two blocks in the Knights’ final match of the season vs. Tulane in the C-USA Championship. Pu ng It Down Erin Campbell, Janine Williams and Stephanie Serna all finished the 2008 season with more than 300 kills, as the trio posted 402, 390 and 376 kills, respec vely, for the Knights’ offense. UCF was one of only two teams in the league to have three players with more than 300 kills, with Tulane also having three players surpass the mark. The last me UCF had a threesome with 300+ kills in a season was in 2003. That year, the trio of Emily Wa s, Tanya Jarvis and Amanda Stoutjesdyk totaled 417, 381 and 349 kills, respec vely.

League Honors The UCF volleyball team was honored at the Conference USA Volleyball Championship Banquet with its first allconference selec on and its second all-academic selec on since joining the league in 2005. Leaps and Bounds The UCF volleyball team was ranked 113 in the final NCAA Women’s Volleyball RPI. The Knights finished the 2007 season at 244 on the chart, an improvement of 131 spots. During the season, the Black and Gold ranked as high as 76 in the RPI on Oct. 13, a jump of 168 places, the largest for any Division I team last season. Career Marks Jenny Heppert made her mark on the UCF record books in 2008, climbing the chart in numerous career categories. The senior finished her career ranking No. 3 all- me in block assists (319) and total blocks (375), while si ng in the fi h spot for block solos (56). Heppert also ranks seventh on the career register in service aces per set (0.35) and eighth in service aces (139) and sets played (402). Erin Campbell and Stephanie Serna also saw their names climb the ranks of the UCF career register, with Campbell ranking fourth in digs per set (2.67), fi h in a empts per set (8.30), seventh in a empts (2,640) and 10th in digs

(849). Serna weighs in at No. 9 in kills (896) and No. 10 in a empts (2,100). Spectator Sport The Knights’ energy and success were contagious last season, as they averaged 482 fans in their first season playing in The Venue at UCF in 2008, an 86 percent increase from their 259 fans per match in 2007. Overall, the Black and Gold entertained a total of 4,819 UCF loyal, which was a 46 percent jump from the 2007 season when a total of 3,365 fans came out to watch the squad in three fewer matches. Playing for First Place On Oct. 12, the Knights did something that no UCF volleyball team before them had ever done. They were playing for first place in the C-USA the standings. Both UCF and UAB entered the mid-October contest at The Venue at UCF with a 4-1 league record, with the winner taking home top-C-USA honors that week. Despite falling in the contest to the Blazers, the Black and Gold got its first taste of what it takes to be an elite team in the conference.

It was a day in UCF volleyball history that will never be forgo en. On Dec. 9, 1979, the UCF volleyball team, under the direc on of head coach Lucy McDaniel, captured the 1978 AIAW Small College Na onal Championship with a, 2-1 (13-15, 15-10, 15-7), victory over Hawaii-Hilo at the UCF Arena. In the ba le for the tle, UCF dropped the ﬁrst set of the match to Hawaii-Hilo for only the third me all season, before storming back in convincing fashion to take the next two sets to win the match and the Na onal Championship crown. The Black and Gold took down Hawaii-Hilo, 2-1 (15-7, 14-16, 15-13), in the team’s ﬁrst mee ng, a er sweeping every other team in its path at the event.

The Knights played seven total matches during the na onal tournament on their home court, domina ng their first five opponents with 2-0 victories over the College of Charleston, Occidental, UC-Riverside and two over Metropolitan State. During the tournament, UCF outscored its opponents by 88 points, 210-122. Throughout the season, there were not many opponents who could compete with the Knights, as UCF ended the year with a flawless 55-0 overall record and staked claim to six different tournament tles on the way. UCF recorded sweeps over 47 different foes on its path to the top of the podium, while allowing six points or less to its opponents in 68 of its 115 total sets.

1978 AIAW NATIONAL CHAMPIONS HISTORY REMEMBERED In front of a record-sha ering crowd of 1,568 fans, the 1978 UCF women’s volleyball team was honored 30 years a er its remarkable undefeated run to the AIAW Na onal Championship crown on Sept. 2, 2008. Between the second and third sets of the match, Dagenais took the microphone and praised former head coach Lucy McDaniel and her squad for giving the Knights what they have today, before dropping the new championship banner which will forever hang with pride at The Venue at UCF. When asked to say a few words about the team of young women that she mentored to the top of the na on, McDaniel only needed to say one thing. “If someone couldn’t have won the na onal championship with the team I had,” McDaniel said, “then they didn’t know a darn thing about coaching.” The ceremony honoring the 1978 squad was emo onal not only for members of that team, but for the current Knights playing because of them. “I was so excited to see the women who started this, who made it possible for me to be here and who set the founda on for all the success that we’re having,” senior Stephanie Serna said. “If it wasn’t for the 1978 team winning the na onal championship, who knows where the team would be now? I was so thankful to be able to be in their presence and to be able to tell them thank you.”

UCF ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME LAURA SMITH • #25 • 1977-79 • HEAD COACH • 1991-97 • CLASS OF 1999 Laura Smith played from 1977-79 and was a two- me All-American for the Knights. UCF won 165 of 176 matches in her three seasons as a player, including a 55-0 mark and the AIAW Small College Na onal Championship in 1978. Smith returned to her alma mater as the head volleyball coach from 1991-97, leading the team to a 188-74 record and six-consecu ve Atlan c Sun tles. The Knights advanced to post-season play

ﬁve mes during her tenure and won 65-consecu ve matches against conference opponents.

RENATA MENCHIKOVA • #9 • 1995-97 • CLASS OF 2002 Renata Menchikova played on the women’s volleyball team from 1995-97 a er a standout youth career playing in her na ve Uzbekistan, a former Republic of the Soviet Union. Menchikova was a talented oﬀensive player who led UCF in kills and aces all three seasons while leading the team in digs in 1996 and 1997. She set the school record for career kills (2,151), kills per game (5.85), and digs per game (3.24). She also ranks among UCF’s all- me leaders in aces (154, 3rd), and aces per game (.42, 2nd). She is the single-game record holder at UCF in kills (holds the top-ﬁve

kill totals) along with the top-two records for single-season kills. She was a three- me ﬁrst-team All-ASun honoree and was a named to the conference all-tournament team three mes in addi on to being named the tournament MVP in 1995. AVCA All-District Four in 1995 and 1996.

TYRA HARPER • #13 • 1994-97 • CLASS OF 2004 Tyra Harper had a stellar career at UCF from 1994-97, leading the Knights to four-consecu ve Atlan c Sun tles and four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Harper was a three- me All-Atlan c Sun First Team and All-Tournament Team honoree at UCF and also garnered Atlan c Sun Tournament MVP accolades in both 1996 and 1997. In her senior season, Harper was named the Atlan c Sun Player of the Year, earned a spot on the AVCA All-District Four team for the second-consecu ve season, and was also honored as the AVCA Na onal Player of the Week on Nov. 18, 1997.

Harper s ll holds program records for career total blocks, block assists and block solos and ranks second in career kills, a ack percentage and blocks per set. Harper is a former member of the U.S. Na onal team and was an alternate for the 2000 U.S. Olympic team, before embarking on a successful Professional Beach Volleyball career in the AVP.

LUCY McDANIEL • HEAD COACH • 1975-79 • CLASS OF 2006 Lucy McDaniel was the first coach in UCF women’s volleyball history and can be credited with five of the most dominant seasons in UCF athle cs history from 1975-79. During her tenure she guided the Knights to an impressive 236-34 (.795) mark. She coached some of the best teams in school history, including the 1978 squad that finished a perfect 55-0 and captured the AIAW Small College Championship. The 1977 team (56-6) and the 1979 club (54-5) also reached the AIAW Small College 56

Championship games. McDaniel has the most victories in school history and owns the best winning percentage of any UCF volleyball coach. She also formed and coached UCF’s ﬁrst so ball team in 1975 and led the team through the 1978 season, registering nearly 100 wins.

JENNY HEPPERT - ESPN THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN In 2008, UCF middle blocker Jenny Heppert earned a na onal dis nc on that no other Knight volleyball player before her had ever recieved when she was honored by the College Sports Informa on Directors of America (CoSIDA) with a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Volleyball Second Team. The Lawrence, Kan., na ve became the first UCF volleyball player to garner Academic All-America® honors, holding a 4.0 cumula ve grade-point average before gradua ng Summa Cum Laude with honors last spring with a degree in biology. “I am totally shocked,” Heppert said a er learning that she garnered the award. “It is an honor. I never really imagined that I could achieve this in my career. It is just a testament to all of the great people that we have surrounding this program. Heppert also served as co-president of the UCF Student-Athlete Advisory Commi ee (SAAC). Heppert’s name has graced the UCF President’s Honor Roll and the Athle c Director’s Honor Roll every semester she has studied at UCF. “What a fantas c honor for a woman that represents and op mizes everything that a student-athlete should be,” head coach Todd Dagenais said. “It is a very proud moment for our program to have somebody achieve that kind of level of na onal recogni on. It really sums up what our philosophy is both athle cally and academically, and to have her be named amongst the best in the na on is really special for us.” On the court, Heppert played in 31 matches in 2008 and led the team in a ack percentage (.323), block assists (93), total blocks (103), blocks per set (0.84), service aces (27) and service aces per set (0.22). The senior’s a ack percentage also ranked sixth among her C-USA peers. In four seasons with the Knights, Heppert ranks third all- me at UCF in total blocks (375) and block assists (319), while ranking fi h all- me in block solos (56) and eighth in service aces (139), aces per set (0.35) and sets played (402).

CAREER OF FIRSTS During her career at UCF, Jenny Heppert set more than one milestone for the volleyball program. Besides being the ﬁrst volleyball Knight to be named an Academic All-American, she was also the ﬁrst to make both the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team and the Conference USA All-Academic Team.

One of Florida’s 11 public universi es, UCF opened its doors to students in 1968. The school has grown quickly and UCF now oﬀers almost 200 bachelor’s and master’s degrees and 29 doctoral programs. UCF began oﬀering a doctor of medicine degree program. The M.D. Program enrolled an ini al class of 40 students and will eventually produce about 120 medical graduates each year.

CAMPUS LIFE UCF’s 1,415-acre campus provides a safe, serene se ng for learning with 600 acres of natural lakes and woodlands. At UCF, there is always something to do. Students a end Division I athle cs events, concerts and shows at UCF Arena and are oﬀered a wide array of cultural events and opportuni es. Personal development programs and ac vi es in a broad range of educa onal, recrea onal and social-awareness topics allow students a chance to expand their understanding of the world. Among the things available to all students are an 85,000-square foot recrea onal ﬁtness center, a 181,000-gallon outdoor recrea onal pool and nine sandy beach volleyball courts. UCF’s exci ng campus includes a variety of on-campus residen al communi es, and the addi on of new housing, a new alumni center and a full-service medical clinic provides expanded opportuni es for ac vi es.

SPIRIT SPLASH UCF’s Spirit Splash is one of the most unique Homecoming events in the na on. Once a year, thousands of students gather in the Reﬂec on Pond at the center of campus for a pep rally and concert.

DR. JOHN C. HITT • PRESIDENT John C. Hi became the fourth president of the University of Central Florida on March 1, 1992, a er nineteen years of administra ve experience and a dis nguished academic career. A na ve of Houston, Texas, he graduated cum laude in 1962 from Aus n College in Sherman, Texas, earning a B.A. degree in psychology. He completed his M.S. degree in 1964 and his Ph.D. degree two years later, both in physiological psychology at Tulane University. His graduate study was supported by fellowships from the Danforth Founda on and the Na onal Science Founda on. Dr. Hi served as an assistant professor of psychology at Tulane before moving to Texas Chris an University as an associate professor of psychology in 1969. Three years later, he became associate dean of the university. In 1974, he was appointed vice president of the Texas Chris an University Research Founda on and was named dean of the graduate school in 1975. In 1977, Dr. Hi le Texas Chris an University to become provost and vice president for academic aﬀairs and professor of psychology at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. In 1987, he moved to the University of Maine as vice president for academic aﬀairs and professor of psychology. In 1991, Dr. Hi was named Maine’s interim president.

FIVE GOALS

Early in his tenure, President Hi outlined the following five major goals for UCF: • offer the best undergraduate educa on in Florida • achieve interna onal prominence in key programs of graduate study and research • provide an interna onal focus to the curricula and research programs • become more inclusive and diverse • become America’s leading partnership university Under President Hi ’s leadership, enrollment at UCF has more than doubled, the number of doctoral degrees awarded each year has increased sevenfold, and research funding has increased from $6.2 million to $121 million a year. President Hi has conferred more than 130,000 degrees during his presidency. One of President Hi ’s greatest achievements occurred when the Florida Board of Governors approved the UCF College of Medicine, and the Lake Nona Medical City was founded. This mul -billion dollar development includes new facili es for medical educa on, hospital care, and biomedical research. The Lake Nona Medical City will be a principal driver of the central Florida economy for decades to come. President Hi ’s current civic service includes membership on the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission Fundraising Campaign leadership cabinet and the MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando’s Council of Governors. He serves on the boards of the American Heart Associa on, Central Florida Partnership, the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, SunTrust N.A., and United Arts. President Hi is a member of the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment Leadership Circle. He is also a member, vice-chair, and chair-elect of the Conference USA Board of Directors. President Hi is two-term past-chair of the State University Presidents Associa on, a member of the Florida Council of 100, and founder of the Florida High-Tech Corridor Council. He is a two-term past-president of the Florida Associa on of Colleges and Universi es. He chaired the Governor’s Select Task Force on Healthcare Professional Liability Insurance and was a member of the Florida Distance Learning Task Force. He was a member of the Orange County Chairman’s Transporta on Commission, and in 2008, he co-chaired the Orange County Underage Drinking Task Force. President Hi is a former member of the boards of the American Associa on of State Colleges and Universi es, EDUCAUSE, Orlando Health, and the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce. He is a former member of the NCAA President’s Commission and the former Chair of Board of the Atlan c Sun Athle cs Conference. In recent years, the Central Florida community has honored President Hi with a number of pres gious awards. He was the recipient of the 2008 Junior Achievement Spirit of Achievement Award. He has been listed for a number of years among the Orlando Sen nel’s 25 Most Powerful People in Central Florida and the Orlando Magazine’s 50 Most Powerful People. He received the Seminole Chamber of Commerce Life me Achievement award in 2007. In 2006, he received the Orlando Business Journal’s first-ever Legacy Award, and in 2005 he was named the Orlando Sen nel’s Central Floridian of the Year. In 2002, he received the James B. Greene award from the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission; in 1999, he was awarded the Tree of Life from the Jewish Na onal Fund and the Jack Halloway Star of Gra tude from United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida; and in 1998, he earned the John Young Award from the Greater Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce. President Hi is an avid fisherman and golfer. He has been married to the former Martha Halsted for 47 years, and they have two children and two grandchildren.

KEITH R. TRIBBLE • DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS The thread that has bridged together nearly three decades working in and around the collegiate community has been Keith Tribble’s history of building programs with strong founda ons and dynamic structure. Since his start as Director of Athle cs and Execu ve Vice President for the University of Central Florida Athle cs Associa on on June 6, 2006, Tribble has quickly taken hold of the program’s blueprints and promised to lead with a principle that everyone associated with the program will also share - to “ﬁnish.”

Keith Tribble is commi ed to the concept of the well-rounded studentathlete, emphasizing the importance of their academic prowess oﬀ the ﬁeld as well as championship results on.

COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE

In addi on, the other focal point of his concentra on is the oversight of the construc on, expansion and comple on of the noted UCF Athle cs Facili es Master Plan. When finished, the plan will touch all areas of the student-athletes’ well-being, including residen al housing, academic and mentoring support facili es and state-of-the-art performance venues where UCF fans and supporters can cheer on the Knights. To date, Tribble has overseen $150 million in new construc on and improvements to UCF athle c facili es since his arrival. Through a renewed commitment, Tribble has been most proud of the record academic achievement of the UCF student-athletes during his first two years in Orlando. The Knights, for the third-straight year in 2008-09, placed the highest number of student-athletes on the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll with 224 representa ves maintaining a 3.0 grade-point average or be er. Much of UCF Athle cs went from transi oning into Conference USA to compe ng for its tles in just a few short years. The football program has played for two CUSA tles since 2005, winning the championship and coveted AutoZone Liberty Bowl berth in 2007. In 200708, other programs such as women’s soccer and so ball, and members of women’s track and field, claimed C-USA tles. In 2008-09, men’s golf reigned over the league, in addi on to a big Conference USA Tournament championship from women’s basketball. Over half of the programs have competed in NCAA postseason tournaments the past two years.

Successful student-athletes start with top-notch coaching and at UCF the commitment to coaching excellence has been evident. Among Tribble’s transac ons so far has been the renewal of several successful veteran coaches, including Amanda Cromwell (women’s soccer), Renee Luers-Gillispie (so ball), George O’Leary (football) and Kirk Speraw (men’s basketball). Addi onally, Tribble was instrumental in the hiring of several new head coaches, including Bryan Cunningham (men’s soccer), Todd Dagenais (women’s volleyball), Becky Cramer (women’s rowing), Stephanie Nickitas (women’s tennis), Terry Rooney (baseball), Caryl Smith-Gilbert (women’s track and ﬁeld/cross country) and Joi Williams (women’s basketball).

Tribble a ended the University of Florida where he played oﬀensive guard for three bowl teams. He graduated in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism (public rela ons and marke ng). Tribble and his wife, Terri, have a daughter, Carlyn, and a son, Kyle.

From Bright House Networks Stadium to the UCF Arena, UCF student-athletes play and train in top-notch venues. The school’s always growing and improving athle cs complex is part of UCF’s commitment to provide student-athletes with excep onal and modern facili es. In the past few years, this commitment has assured that the UCF athle cs facili es are not only among the best in Conference USA, but across the na on. The 45,000-seat Bright House Networks Stadium, the home of the UCF program, shared its debut season on campus in 2007 with another brand new facility - UCF Arena. Home to the Knights’ men’s and women’s basketball programs, the 10,000-seat venue also opened in the fall of 2007. The arena, which also hosts concerts and UCF commencement ceremonies, includes luxury boxes and suites, open concourse areas and numerous concession op ons.

Other facili es that have seen upgrades in recent years are Jay Bergman Field – home to the baseball program - and The Venue at UCF, the renovated previous arena which now houses exclusive modern prac ce facili es and oﬃces for the men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as an equally-spacious home facility for volleyball. UCF’s Facili es Master Plan includes numerous facility enhancements in the coming years, including the planned construc on of a new stadium and entrance structure at the UCF Soccer and Track and the expansion of Jay Bergman Field. The vision for a new academic services center is imminent, one which will provide student-athletes greater access to resources near their new Athle cs Village residences, and further assist their progress towards their degrees and post-graduate success.

Looking for theme parks, a rac ons, museums, world-class shopping, great restaurants, golf courses, jogging trails and nature preserves? You can find it all here in Orlando. Orlando is one of the most popular vaca on des na ons in the world. In 2007, 48.8 million visitors traveled to the region. Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando and Sea World are just a short drive away from the UCF campus. The Kennedy Space Center, state parks and sandy beaches off the coast of the Atlan c Ocean are also all nearby. Orlando is a frequent des na on for today’s top na onal musical acts, who visit popular venues like Hard Rock Live at Universal’s CityWalk and House of Blues, which is located at Downtown Disney. The city’s world-renowned theme parks have added a variety of new entertainment experiences, including Disney’s Cirque de Soleil and Universal’s Blue Man Group performances.
