Marla Townsend Softball Camps UAB softball continually strives to teach softball to the youth of Alabama and its surrounding states by providing camps and clinics throughout the year. The Marla Townsend’s Fastpitch School is owned and operated by UAB’s head coach softball coach who has held and worked numerous years of camps and clinics in the Birmingham and surrounding area. The UAB Softball Field, the home site of the Blazers, is the location for camps in June and July. During the winter months, November through January, the Blazers team up with the Birmingham Viper facility for hitting clinics. The coaching staff has also done satellite camps across the state of Alabama. Over the years, numerous of the UAB incoming freshmen have attended a UAB camp or clinic.
