Choctaw Nation and JOM On October l, l984, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Muskogee Area Office, contracted the Johnson O’Malley Program. As the prime contractor of the Johnson O’Malley Program in the l0l/2 county service area of the Choctaw Nation, it is the responsibility of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to administer JOM funds for the operation of supplemental programs for the education of eligible Indian students. The JOM Program currently is serving in excess of 8,640 students in approximately 68 schools. According to Sec. 273.l2 of the Federal Register and Public Law 99-228, eligible students are Indian students, from age 3 through grade l2, except those who are enrolled in Bureau or sectarian operated schools,
JOM School Support Supplies The Howe Public Schools’ Johnson O’Malley Program is pleased to announce the availability of student support supplies for the 2010-2011 school year. A total of $1,737.19 was spent initially to purchase requested classroom supplies. Supplies may be picked up from August 16-20 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the
HIgh School and Elementary Offices. Parents may also pick up supplies during the Back To School OPen House on Thursday, August 19 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Please Note: Tissue, Baby Wipes, Copy Paper and Headphones will be taken to students’ classrooms.

Choctaw STAR Students Grades 8th-12th for the 2009 Fall Semester.
Coordinator/Choctaw Nation STAR Program •••
The STAR Program is an Education Incentive Program to reward students in grades 2 though 12 who show an excellence in their schoolwork and attendance. This program is offered only to students enrolled in accredited schools located within the state of Oklahoma. Beginning at the end of the fall semester, students who are members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma may apply to receive awards from the tribe if they have ALL A’s, all As and B’s, or Perfect Attendance on their report card. In addition to a Certificate of Recognition, a monetary incentive will be given to each student. This program will encourage the academic success of Choctaws by providing students an incentive to strive for the highest possible level of achievement. If your child is not a member at the time but are Choctaw descent, please fill out the CDIB application along with the membership application. Filling out the forms provided will benefit your child because Choctaw Nation offers various programs such as Higher Education (if your child is interested in attending college), Scholarship Advisement Program (for Sophomore students and up CHOCTAW NATION OF OKLAHOMA STUDENT SCHOOL AND ACTIVITY FUND PROGRAM Students must be Choctaw and a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Students who are attending Head Start through High School are eligible to apply one time each fiscal year for the $100 donation. Fiscal Year 2011 will begin on October 1, 2010.
Choctaw STAR Students Grades 2nd-7th for the 2009 Fall Semester. this program helps students in many ways from preparing for college, choosing the right schools, locate funding opportunities with tools like SAP’s newly created online scholarship database with access available for SAP’s internet website), the Students School and Activity Fund Program (students who are attending Head Start through high school are eligible to apply each fiscal year for an annual $100 donation) and many more. The programs listed above are only a few opportunities your child will have if they fill out the enclosed CDIB package and membership application and get approved as a
member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
