Dear Friends, Twenty-one years ago, we never would have thought about writing the editor's letter to Talk of the Town: The Timepiece Collection Edition. We have made some remarkable changes in the past several years and are just as passionate as we were back at our beginning in October 2001.

Through the years, we dedicated most of our time searching for the finest and most diverse timepieces the world has to offer. Even though we constantly tweak our brand repertoire some we have had since our beginnings! We also buy, sell and trade preowned watches and keep a wide variety in stock.

To keep up with demand and exclusive service for our customers, we opened a stateof-the-art service center on premises. Our highly trained watchmakers have the skills and tools to refurbish old timepieces to their former grandeur. We offer a multitude of services including restoration and refinishing, battery replacements, and complete overhauls.

While this magazine remains dedicated to the world's most luxurious timepieces, there's so much more a true watch oficianado needs to stay on top of. For that, we bring you one of the country's great upcoming chefs, Robbie Felice, who is currently touring the nation serving his twist on classic Italian cuisine. If you're looking to leave the country, however, Cali Mykonos is one of the world's newest, super-luxe resort destinations.

Back in the day people wore watches only to tell time, but today timepieces have evolved to also become lavish fashion statements. Watches are worn to match an outfit or communicate personal style. With our extensive brand portfolio, we truly offer something for everyone from the first time buyer to the seasoned collector.

Throughout this special edition of Talk of the Town, you will find some of the world's most impressive and luxurious timepieces. All of these exceptional items are available at our boutique in Englewood, New Jersey. We invite you to read through and visit us in person soon!

The Timepiece Collection

Expanding Its Business Through Innovation

Being in the retail business is hard these days. Between increasing macroeconomic pressures as well as dynamic consumer behavior that is continually evolving, today's forward-thinking merchants are following a maxim once declared by Peter Drucker: Innovate or die.

On the surface that may seem hyperbolic, but if you've carved out marketshare in a competitive landscape by applying some ingenuity, you'd probably agree. Just ask The Timepiece Collection's two Founding Partners, Jeffrey Khalaf and Michael Rosenberg.

Now in its 21st year of business, The Timepiece Collection has not only reached the legal drinking age, its continued to expand from its humble beginnings. Once a 400 square foot shop on Englewood's South Dean Street, today it's transformed into a flagship storefront that's more than 10 times larger than its initial location. As an authorized dealer (AD) for almost two dozen brands, Rosenberg says, "We have something for everybody." With more eclectic manufacturers being offered, Jeffrey and Michael have built a business that's become a destination where people can lean about timepieces and understand the precision engineering that make them tick.

Here's the thing though: There's more to The Timepiece Collection than just selling unique watches and educating people on their respective complications. That's because, in recent years, the company has bolstered its capabilities all through the lens of providing an improved customer experience.

With the opening of a full-service center, The Timepiece Collection is offering something that's truly differentiated in the wonderful world of watches. While the Englewood business always had a repairperson on premises, it was a far cry from today's operation.

Rosenberg explains, "Before, it was a small room with a bench. Our repairperson took care of swapping straps, changing batteries and things like that."

Today, it has two watchmakers as well as an expert polisher on staff. Speaking with The Timepiece Collection's After Sales Service Manager Tanja Nielsen, it becomes clear that she boasts a broad and deep skill set. With over 26 years as a watchmaker, Nielsen attended watchmaking school in Denmark and she previously worked in-house at Swatch Group (e.g., Breguet, Blancpain, Glashüttte, Omega, etc.).

Tanja explains, "Our workshop and team is fully equipped with the tools and skilled watchmakers to be able to service most brands and complications. When we do complete overhauls on watches, the movements are taken apart, and cleaned in a special solution and ultrasonic bath to assure all old oil and build up is removed. All watches are reassembled, oiled and regulated to each manufacturers' specifications. From there, all completely overhauled timepieces get polished - polishing can also be arranged for watches that get other types of services."

It's especially important to underscore that The Timepiece Collection made the investment to acquire the right equipment. By doing so, it enables the team to restore timepieces so that they keep time accurately and look as though they've been virtually unworn. Take, for example, rhodium plating, which requires specialty tools onsite. Rosenberg notes, "Most places don't have this type of niche machinery on premises, and because of that we're not only able to help retail customers but we've started accumulating wholesale accounts where we can lend a hand for other businesses."

When it comes to timepieces of a certain quality, it's highly recommended to upkeep them. Nielsen says, "By servicing your watch regularly, you extend its lifespan and ensure it keeps operating properly for years to come."

Much like an automobile, timepieces require ongoing maintenance - give or take every three to five years - in order to make sure the complications are functioning properly and the internal

mechanisms remain fully lubricated so that they precisely tell time. There's just one catch: Traditionally, this meant you would have to ship your timepiece to the original manufacturer.

Michael says that the team noticed customers were often perplexed with the process of servicing a timepiece. Just think about it: First, how do you safely transport a luxurious piece of jewelry? Second, why does it take so long to get an estimate (in some cases up to four weeks)? And, lastly, why does it take so long to receive a fully repaired timepiece (with some manufacturers it can take upwards of 3-6 months, and in unique cases over a year)?

Recognizing customers were unsatisfied with the traditional approach, Jeffrey and Michael started doing some research. It became evident quickly that there weren't many full-service repair centers in existence. Adding to this, the founding partners agreed that as The Timepiece Collection is an AD for a significant number of brands,

CONTINUED ON PAGE 12

it should have more a more robust operation that better meets customers' expectations.

This was the lightbulb moment that led to the launch of the state-of-the-art repair center.

Traction picked up during the COVID-19 pandemic as local customers got accustomed to their remote workstations and decided to forego trips into New York City. This translated into folks discovering the level of service The Timepiece Collection provides.

The icing on the cake? During a site visit by one of The Timepiece Collection's original equipment (OE) brands, they recognized the level of care, craftsmanship and equipment put into its service operation. Because of the high standard being

held, the OE brand provided clearance for The Timepiece Collection to do repairs at the OE level.

If you don't understand the gravity of this situation, let me put it this way: It is damn near impossible to get this brand's blessing to authorize repair work from a facility outside of its own respective workshop.

Clearly, Jeffrey and Michael are keenly in tune with the watch business and know how to take measured risks in order to comfortably expand the breadth of The Timepiece Collection's offerings. Frankly, I don't see an end in sight. In the meantime, we're going to have to stay tuned to the next ways this business continues to innovate in its industry.

Handcrafted in Ethical Gold
CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE The BREGUET NEW CLASSIQUE 7337

An emblematic timepiece of the Classique Collection, the new Classique 7337 Calendar features a modern style while retaining the strong codes that have forged the brand's history. Classique Calendar 7337, available in white and rose gold joins the current Breguet collection.

This elegant, subtle and pure new interpretation by Breguet is resolutely contemporary without compromising its aesthetic origins. The brand's various decorative skills are indeed present throughout the watch. Its off-centered dial is adorned with a very fine Clous de Paris hobnail guilloché pattern hand-engraved on a rose engine by the in-house artisans. The outer dial features a circular barleycorn motif. The moon phase at 12 o'clock is designed to provide powerful realism. The gold moon is hand-hammered and the clouds surrounding it have been given a fine sandblasted treatment with a matt texture. Its sky is coated with a blue lacquer composed of spangles subtly revealing the stars depending on the angle from which the timepiece is viewed. The hours, minutes and seconds are indicated by the traditional blued steel open-tipped Breguet hands. The date and day are respectively placed at 2 and 10 o'clock. The windows feature a broad aperture for enhanced readability.

At the heart of its 39 mm white or rose case beats Calibre 502, which is one of Breguet's thinnest movements at just 2.4 mm thick. Its design was conceived to provide a high level of performance despite its slenderness. Its barrel is open in order to enhance this slim aesthetic while guaranteeing constant energy and performance. Its oscillating weight is off-centered to provide maximum space for the main movement elements and is thus integrated within a minimum thickness. This rhodium-plated self-winding movement consists of 236 components. It is equipped with a silicon balance-spring as well as an escapement featuring an inverted

straight-line pallet-lever with silicon horns. Silicon boasts multiple properties. In addition to being resistant to corrosion and wear, it is insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields and improves the precision of the timepiece. This movement that can be admired through the sapphire caseback highlights a skill dear to Breguet: decoration. While the white gold oscillating weight is hand-engraved on a rose engine with a circular barleycorn pattern, the other components are graced with chamfered finishes and a Côtes de Genève motif. Finally, the balance of the new Classique Calendar 7337 oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz and has a 45-hour power reserve.

Featuring a design representing a blend of purity and refinement, the Classique collection faithfully illustrates the strong aesthetic of the brand's origins. Above and beyond his talent as a watchmaker and inventor, Abraham-Louis Breguet was also one of the first designers. When the company was founded in Paris in 1775, baroque style was all the rage. He invented and initiated the neoclassical style in watchmaking - an aesthetic vision that gave the dials an avant-garde look while making it easier to read the watch's indications. He created open-tipped hands, the guilloché pattern and the off-centered dial, to name but a few of these novel stylistic features. The latter achievement appeared as of 1812 on pocket watches and established the brand's DNA. Inspired by these creations, the first interpretation of the Classique 7337 wristwatch was introduced in 2009. The 2022 version is a contemporary and elegant incarnation of the original watch, while remaining faithful to the powerful signatures of the Classique line.

Available in 18K white or rose gold, this new timepiece is fitted with a strap in midnight blue for the white gold model and a mysterious brown for the rose gold version.

Italian With a Twist

Robbie Felice Serves

Up a Spin on Classic Cuisine

For chef and restaurateur Robbie Felice, Italian cooking has been a permanent fixture in his life for as long as he can remember.

Growing up in Sussex County, Felice would spend many evenings watching his father, Joe, make various dishes in his restaurants, while Sunday dinners typically starred his grandmother's famous meat sauce. Although these early experiences played an integral role in shaping Felice's unwavering love of food, it wasn't until he got accepted into the Culinary Institute of America that he realized cooking was his calling.

"That's when I knew, "Hey, this is my passion. This is what I'm going to be doing for the rest of my life," he said.

From working at acclaimed restaurants like Babbo in New York City and B&B Ristorante in Las Vegas to training under top chefs across Europe, Felice collected a range of experiences that would soon prepare him to excel in the restaurant industry.

At just 26 years old, the Sussex County native teamed up with his father in 2016 to open Viaggio in Wayne. The BYOB restaurant, which boasts locally sourced ingredients in a Tuscan farmhouse setting, ultimately earned Felice several accolades, including a spot on NJ Monthly's 30 Best Restaurants in New Jersey, NJ Monthly's Talent on the Rise and The Record's 17 People to Watch.

22 | TALK OF THE TOWN : THE TIMEPIECE COLLECTION EDITION

Keeping the momentum going, Felice opened Osteria Crescendo in Westwood two years later. While this restaurant features a more modern atmosphere than Viaggio, Felice keeps the same cooking style at the center: rustic meets modern Italian. Like its predecessor, Osteria Crescendo made its way onto NJ Monthly's 30 Best Restaurants in New Jersey, as well.

While owning two restaurants is enough to keep anyone busy, the James Beard-nominated chef has shown no signs of slowing down. In fact, he's been doing the exact opposite, having recently launched his fast-growing pop-up restaurant concept pastaRAMEN.

"I basically said to myself, "How do you set yourself apart in an industry where everyone's just copying each other and doing the same thing?" Felice said. "You can open an Italian restaurant that's better than everyone else's, and it's still just good Italian food. It's not really setting yourself apart, so I wanted to do something super different."

To accomplish this goal, Felice conducted extensive research before landing on the style of food he would pursue: Wafu Italian. With "Wafu" translating to "Japanese-style," the cuisine features flavors, ingredients and cooking techniques from both Japan and Italy.

"Whenever I'm creating dishes, and I'm letting someone new try a dish, I'll say, "Is it Japanese or is it Italian?" And if they hesitate for any longer than 5-10 seconds, I know they can't figure it out, which means I did my job perfectly," he said. "It's just gotta have the perfect balance of both [cuisines] to where diners don't really know if it's Japanese or Italian."

Some examples of Felice's hit dishes include ramen shrimp scampi, cacio e pepe gyoza fritti and pork chop scallopini with katsu sauce.

What started out with Felice preparing a tasting menu for some close friends at the end

24 | TALK OF THE TOWN : THE TIMEPIECE COLLECTION EDITION

of 2020 quickly grew via word of mouth. Aiming to set his 10-13-course omakase concept apart even further, Felice decided to turn it into a traveling, invite-only speakeasy.

pastaRAMEN took off in January of 2021, with the chef cooking for groups of 10-12 people in AirBnBs, apartments, closed restaurants, salons and warehouses. Diners get access to these secret locations after receiving a password, which is followed by a text message with the pop-up's address the day before the dinner. People can only get this password from previous diners who can also share the special reservation link they receive after dinner, which currently costs $295 per person.

Since its launch, pastaRAMEN has made an appearance in 10-12 different New Jersey locations, in addition to three in New York City, two in Miami and one in Los Angeles. Next month, Felice will set down some roots for the Wafu Italian concept by opening a flagship location in Montclair. This restaurant will be more casual than the exclusive speakeasy, with Felice describing it as "an Italian Ramen shop."

Going forward, Felice is looking to open more restaurants in Miami, LA and the New York/New Jersey area, with some additional concepts in the works.

Reflecting on the restaurant industry as a whole, he said his favorite part "probably changes every year." While it used to be expressing himself through cooking, he now has a greater appreciation for the business side of things, noting his love of being thrown into bigger challenges and meeting and connecting with new people while traveling.

For those looking to break into the industry, Felice's number one piece of advice is to "make sure you're extremely passionate about it."

He said, "If you're going to eat, sleep, live it, breathe it, you're going to be successful at it."

And clearly, Felice knows what he's talking about.

THE LONGINES MASTER COLLECTION

Chopard HAPPY HEARTS

Aspecial edition marks Chopard's support for Natalia Vodianova's Naked Heart Foundation. So much more than just a jewelry collection, Happy Hearts symbolizes Chopard's boundless generosity and creativity. A joyful and infinitely chic edition of the Happy Hearts bangle - crafted in ethical 18-carat rose or white gold and pink mother-of-pearl - is dedicated to Chopard's support for the Naked Heart Foundation, the charity Natalia Vodianova launched in 2004 to help underprivileged children.

Its pink mother-of-pearl interpretation stems from the encounter between two big-hearted women: Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, and Natalia Vodianova, founder of the Naked Heart Foundation, which works tirelessly to improve the daily lives of the most underprivileged children in Russia and around the world.

In a tender variation on the Happy Hearts collection, the ethical 18-carat rose or white ethical gold bangle featuring a dancing diamond is adorned with a pink mother-of-pearl heart. This soft, precious, delicate material harvested from the heart of shells is a perfect symbol of

the protective cocoon with which every child should be surrounded. Its pink shimmer reflects the tenderness of Natalia Vodianova and Caroline Scheufele's vision of the indispensable need to help those most in need. For this reason, a portion of the proceeds from each timepiece in this special edition sold is donated to the Naked Heart Foundation in support of its actions.

Natalia Vodianova said, "Even though my world is very much connected with beauty, I have always believed that in life we should pursue what catches our heart and impels it to action, before being charmed by beauty. Caroline Scheufele is a person who has the ability to combine both approaches and does it wonderfully. Dazzling pieces she creates are only part of the whole picture, and the long partnership with the Naked Heart Foundation is a great example of this. Beauty by itself can be empty. Beauty that supports kindness and empathy is another story altogether."

n OMOS watcheS

NOMOS timepieces are made by hand exclusively in Glashütte but, in a certain way, they are born in Berlin. This is where the watches are designed, and the famous NOMOS look is created.

Berlin - a two hour and ten minute drive north of Glashütte - is where NOMOS' in-house design studio, Berlinerblau, is located. Glashütte and Kreuzberg may seem worlds apart, but at NOMOS Glashütte they belong together. The combination of 175 years of watchmaking tradition and modern design have led to over 150 awards for design, branding, and quality.

54 | TALK OF THE TOWN : THE TIMEPIECE COLLECTION EDITION

The entire process often takes years before an initial idea is ready to wear on the wrist. The designs for a new watch are first drawn up on a computer monitor, or sometimes the old-fashioned way - in a sketchbook.

Working together with the watchmakers is essential here; generally speaking, there is often quite a period of back and forth between the experts in Glashütte, and our design staff in Berlin. Everything depends on the tiniest of details, fractions of millimeters. The perfect wristwatch should combine mechanical accuracy with appealing design - and each change to the external form could impact the function of the caliber within, and vice versa.

Thomas Höhnel, the creative force behind NOMOS' sports model Ahoi, is Berlinerblau's senior product designer. What satisfies him most about his work is the challenge of designing to fit the wrist: "Like an architect who's always working to scale and only sees his design when it's complete, here it's the same thing in the other direction - you always draw and think in large dimensions, but the watch will turn out to be relatively small."

THE WATCH OF THE DISTINGUISHED TRAVELLER

Derived from aeronautical on-board instruments, Bell & Ross watches have precision and readability in their DNA. The BR 05, created in 2019, is a watch designed to walk the avenues of large cities and their museums. The BR 05 GMT White is a variant, suitable for travelling. This watch has two strong characteristics: a GMT complication and an opaline white dial. This timepiece is not only practical, with its indication of a dual time zone, it is also attractive, with its great distinction. Pilots, businessmen or globetrotters, all regulars at airport terminals, are among the brand's clients. Ideal for international travelers, these pieces find its natural habitat on a flight whether you are travelling to Rio, Nassau or Bamako.

The GMT is a common complication in watchmaking. It is one of the most useful functions that provide real practical information. It allows the display of the time of two time zones. In this sense, it fulfils the needs of air travelers," said Bruno Belamich, artistic director of Bell & Ross. It gives them the advantage of having the time of their places of departure and arrival simultaneously.

The GMT is a great success with our clients"Belamich continued. "We are launching this new BR 05 GMT White version, in order to respond to this strong interest."

On this variant, the second time zone hand completes one revolution of the dial in 24 hours. It displays the time via a 24-hour scale, painted on the flange ring. This element is painted in two different tones: one for the day (between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.) and the other for the night (between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.).

Usually, the traveler chooses the GMT hand to display the time of the departure time zone. Users generally prefer the central hour and minute hand to read the time in the time zone where we are.

The GMT White is powered by the self-winding BR-CAL 325 calibre.

BLANCPAIN Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon 8

Blancpain presents a new edition of the Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon 8 Jours model. The Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon 8 Jours diver's watch epitomizes the encounter between horological complexity and high performance. Its flying tourbillon whirls inside a dedicated opening in the refined blue dial. This new model comes in a surprisingly light titanium version, as well as a red gold version ensuring a striking presence on the wrist.

Introduced in 2007 with the launch of the contemporary Fifty Fathoms collection, the Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon 8 Jours is a symbiosis of Blancpain's savoir faire in the realm of diver's watches and its expertise in horological complications. Tried and tested for more than a decade, it has established itself as a superlative timepiece, enabling the beauty of the tourbillon mechanism to be admired even at great depths.

The two new versions of this prestigious diver's watch showcase this sophisticated complication through a refined blue dial graced with a sunburst finish. The tourbillon, referred to as "flying" because it has no upper bridge to drive its cage, appears to be floating in a large round opening at 12 o'clock. The technical complexity of this watch construction contrasts with the sporty style of the hour-markers, hands and bezel. The latter remains a key element of the watch, with its notched edge giving added grip, its unidirectional rotation system and its slightly domed scratch-resistant sapphire insert.

The 45 mm-diameter case of this new Fifty Fathoms is available in two materials: grade 23 titanium and red gold, both satin-finished. A bold choice for a highly complicated watch, titanium is notable for its lightness - ensuring excellent wearer comfort - as well as its resistance to shocks, pressure and corrosion. Red gold offers a more conventional setting for the tourbillon and radiates an aura of timeless nobility.

Water-resistant to 30 bar (approximately 300 meters), the Fifty Fathoms Tourbillon 8 Jours houses self-winding Calibre 25C, a movement finished with a Côtes de Genève motif and circular graining in the noblest watchmaking tradition. Its gold oscillating weight is satin-brushed and open worked to provide the most open possible view of the movement.

The titanium timepiece is available with a blue NATO or sailcloth strap, as well as a titanium bracelet; the red gold watch comes with a blue NATO or sailcloth strap. For both models, the sailcloth strap can be combined with a pin buckle or folding clasp, as desired.

This new model is a welcome addition to the Fifty Fathoms collection, embodying Blancpain's passion for the underwater world, which was initially expressed in 1953 with the launch of the first modern diver's watch. Created by Jean-Jacques Fiechter, Blancpain's Co-CEO at the time and a pioneer of scuba diving, the Fifty Fathoms represented a turning point in the watch industry by setting the standard for diver's watches.

The Ferrari purosangue

The prancing horse’s foray into the four-door world

64 | TALK OF THE TOWN : THE TIMEPIECE COLLECTION EDITION

As whispers began to circulate throughout the car world, centered firmly in the heart of Maranello, Italy, many Ferrari purists wondered: Could this be true? Is Ferrari really about to produce their first-ever four-door, four-seat vehicle encapsulation the highly sought after Prancing Horse's DNA?

We now know, as its 715hp V12 engine purrs around city corners and suburban streets, that Ferrari meant business with the unveiling of the Purosangue.

Purosangue - Italian for thoroughbred - was designed and produced with Ferrari's incredible team knowing full well that the motorcar enthusiast world would be loudly skeptical of what the latest - and oddly most controversial - design would be. With the meaning behind Purosangue clearly embedded in every aspect of Ferrari's first venture into the four-door world, enthusiasts can now rest knowing this car bleeds Rosso Corsa blood.

Let's be real. This is as much a Ferrari as it is an SUV. From the design stages on, the talented team in Maranello sought to combine their prestigious racing lineage with the modern day needs of "everyday folks."

In response, the Purosangue is the most aerodynamically streamlined SUV everwith more cubic feet of trunk space than any Ferrari in the company's historic stable. What does that translate to? Long, comfy trips in a car that will whip you form 0-60 in a baffling 3.3 seconds.

When stepping inside, the backseats have rear-hinged (suicide) doors, making it easier for passengers to step in while also helping maintain the Purosangue's smooth exterior lines.

While the Purosangue is not the first Ferrari to have four seats, it is the first one to fit four adults comfortably. Referring to the interior as a "lounge," this luxury SUV sports four luxurious and ultra-comfortable bucket seats - whose upholstery will depend largely on the very few select people who will have the opportunity to order one.

Ferrari's "dual cockpit" feature makes it so it's not just the driver who gets to enjoy the sensations of motoring such a finely tuned automobile. A separate full display sits in front of the passenger, allowing them access to information once only reserved for the driver. No longer does anyone have to lean over to the driver and ask, "How fast you are going?" - for better or worse. The answer, by the way, is a top speed of 193mph.

Yet to reach customer's hands, the Purosangue is one of the most anticipated cars of 2023. Perfect for a day at the track or just simply grocery shopping, expect these perfected blends of form and function to be roaring down your local road sometime soon.

With Ferarri's perfect execution in delivering the Purosangue, purists can now calm to the idea of a four-door Ferrari. Now, who knows what's next for the Prancing Horse.
