Wow, is it already May!?
This year is flying by! May is, of Course, my favorite month of the year because it starts getting really hot and all the love bugs come out and it makes riding like someone is throwing stuff at you constantly and hitting you in the face. Oh yes, and my Birthday is May 4th! But most of all I love that we have been so busy with events like Thunder Beach in the Beginning of May and this year we are headed out to Las Vegas to put on a show on May 11th at Las Vegas Harley-Davidson. I am very excited to head to Las Vegas and possibly also discuss bringing back Las Vegas Bike Fest as a promoter, now that would be fun!!! Also in May is Memorial Day and Peggy’s Corral is having a huge Memorial Day Party on May 26th, it is also on the cover of this month’s issue. Be sure to plan on stopping by Peggy’s Corral that day to help support. We have some events coming up for Full Throttle that will be a lot of fun. First is going to be the 5 Bridge Poker Run on Saturday June 22nd. At Press time we are still working on a few things as we are making changes from last year, but we are excited to announce that we will be working with WCFR (West Coast Florida Riders) and Fran Haasch Law Group as our Sponsors of the run this year! We might even be giving the first 50 people who register a FREE t-shirt (While supplies last, also not 100% confirmed yet LOL) Either way this ride is awesome and really encompasses the West Coast and Tampa Bay
Area with riding over the 5 Major Bridges that connect the Bay Area. Those 5 bridges are The Bayside Bridge, Gandy, Howard Frankland, Courtney Campbell Causeway and of course, the SKYWAY. This is always a blast to plan and find locations at the ends of each of the bridges. Please plan on making this ride as it is always a lot of fun! Our Second ride we have planned for the summer months is our annual Soaked and Sore Ass Poker Run on July 20th . Yes, it’s going to be very hot and possibly rainy somewhere in the state of Florida, hence the amazing name for this ride. We are starting in Hudson at Circle S BBQ where they will be offering a great breakfast to start the day off right. Then heading to the East Coast of Florida, down to Okeechobee and then back over to the Port Charlotte area to end at Bert’s Black Widow Harley-Davidson for an end party! They always have bands and a great restaurant “The Twisted Fork” Right on their property. This will be our 27th Annual ride and is a little different than years past. This year is more about the ride than the destination. I wanted to give people a good ride and think about how they will be getting home on Sunday after the ride. Most of our riders come from the Tampa Bay Area, so going home from Port Charlotte is only a few hours compared to coming home from Panama City Beach or even the Keys. Let’s make this a huge ride. Remember you only get your shirt, patch, and certificate when you make it to the final stop. That’s the whole idea of the ride, to earn those prizes at the end and say you made it!! Winning the poker run would just be a bonus!
Remember that May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month so be safe out there and check your bike over to see if it needs any TLC. Check your tire treads, get that oil change, grab a wrench and tighten some bolts. You can never be too safe! Also, if you didn’t know, the Second Tuesday in June is always National RIDE TO WORK DAY! If you can ride to work that day, please do so and remember to take a picture and tag Full Throttle in it. Let’s all try and ride to work on June 11th. Be safe, be smart, don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you soon!
The Diva Angels Tampa Bay Chapter is taking off running, Bab’s our new Director is starting to make a big impact this year. We are hosting Ladies Bike Nights at Quaker Steak & Lube offering Slow Races, 3-Legged Races, Raffles, Spin-the-Wheel with prizes. Any baskets and liquor bottle raffles 100% of the proceeds collected will be going to charity.
At this time, we are collecting for CASA the official domestic violence center for Pinellas County providing lifesaving services to women, children, and men living with domestic violence for over 40 years. www.casapinellas.org
Start collecting pj’s and house slippers! The Diva’s are collecting these items to donate to the C.A.S.A women’s shelter. Please help us help the local community.
