with three drummers employed as musicians, as distinct from the regimental drummers who had a military role. Other instruments were added and by 1783 the instrumentation had settled down to an octet of wind instruments as fixed by Frederick the Great for the bands of the Prussian Army. As new instruments were invented and developed, these were added, with the major changes coming following the invention of valved brass instruments in the mid 19th Century with the later addition of the saxophones. In their early days, the bands were led by civilians, often foreigners, who played in the band and gave signals to the other musicians while playing. In time, serving soldiers holding the rank of sergeant were used, and the practice of conducting with a baton took effect. THE GUARDS DIVISION The Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards and Welsh Guards form the Guards Division which has, for over 370 years, fulfilled the dual role as the personal troops of the sovereign and the nation’s crack fighting troops. In battle, the regiments have distinguished themselves during nearly every major campaign in which the British Army has been involved, from the siege of Namur in 1695, through the defeats of Napoleon, the Kaiser, Hitler and Saddam Husain, to the current conflict in Afghanistan. In the world of ceremonial, they are truly second to none and millions of people from all over the world flock to London or Windsor to watch the ceremony of Changing the Guard or simply to watch a Guardsman standing still in front of his sentry box. The highlight of the ceremonial year is the Trooping the Color which for more than two hundred years has marked the birthday of the monarch with glorious pageantry on Horse Guards Parade. The Guards also provide Guards of Honor and men to line the streets on the occasion of state visits by foreign heads of state, as well as at the State Opening of Parliament. A particularly long-standing tradition is the Ceremony of the Keys, to ceremonially lock the fortress for the night. This has taken place every night for over 700 years at the Tower of London, the home of the Crown Jewels. The Guards were also very much at the forefront of the celebrations to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, only the second British monarch ever to have reigned for sixty years. In short, the Guards form one of the great iconic images of Great Britain and are very much the pride of the nation. To quote from the Curator of the splendid Guards Museum in London, they are “The scarlet thread that weaves through the great tapestry of Britain’s proud history over the last 370 years”. THE BAND OF SCOTS GUARDS The origins of the Band go back to at least 1716 when they are known to have had six hautbois (an early form of oboe) together 16B SPRING 2013 PROGRAM GUIDE

Following the outbreak of the First World War the music of the Guards bands played a major role in instilling a sense of patriotism to inspire and encourage young men to volunteer to enlist. The Band of the Scots Guards twice made visits of three months duration to the active service theatres in France and Flanders, including Ypres and the Somme, to entertain the troops of the Guards Division. In the Second World War, the bands once again found themselves visiting Guards regiments in many theatres of war in Europe and North Africa Their music served as a massive boost to morale at a time of unimaginable horror all around. In more recent times, the Band of the Scots Guards was deployed on active service as medical assistants during the first Gulf war to liberate Kuwait in 1990/91. In 2011, the band was accorded a unique honor for a military band when its fanfare trumpeters were invited to join forces with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the prestigious “Last Night of the Proms” concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band has a current establishment of 43 musicians and their principal duty today remains the same as it was in 1716; to play the men who are to form the Queen’s Guard to Buckingham Palace, provide music while the sentries are changed and finally, march the Old Guard back to their barracks. The Band of the Scots Guards has toured extensively, representing the United Kingdom on countless occasions throughout the world, promoting the very best of British. Its sight and sound is one of the great iconic images of the nation. THE SCOTTISH INFANTRY REGIMENTS The historic Scottish infantry regiments had a proud history and occupied a distinguished and much loved place in Scotland’s heritage. The oldest of them, The Royal Scots, traced its history back to 1633 and was the 1st of Foot and the senior infantry regiment of the line. The Royal Scots Fusiliers amalgamated with The Highland Light Infantry in 1959 to form The Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret’s Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment). The Seaforth Highlanders amalgamated with The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in 1961 to form the Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons). They were further

The Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch amalgamated in 1994 with The Gordon Highlanders to form The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons). The Cameronians chose to disband in 1968 rather than amalgamate with another regiment which would have resulted in a dilution of their unique traditions. On March 28, 2006 all the Scottish Infantry regiments were combined as The Royal Regiment of Scotland. The new regiment consists of five regular battalions and two battalions of Territorial Army. The regiment now wears a common uniform, including kilts of Government tartan, although each battalion can be distinguished by the color of the feathers worn in the Tam o’ Shanter headdress. The pipes and drums of each battalion continue to wear the ceremonial uniforms and tartans of their former regiments in order to retain an element of their individual identity. The regimental cap badge, which was designed by a number of serving and retired officers, incorporates the two national symbols, the Lion Rampart and the Saltire of St Andrew. As a Royal regiment, the badge is surmounted by a crown, in this case the Crown of Scotland, and bears the regiment’s motto, Nemo Me Impune Lacessit (No One Provokes Me With Impunity) which is the motto of the Order of the Thistle, Scotland’s highest order of chivalry. The regiment normally provides the manpower for the ceremonial events in Scotland. Later this year the regiment will once again provide ceremonial sentries to guard Edinburgh Castle, reinstating a long tradition which lapsed in 2002.

French at Ticonderoga, 220 miles north of New York after which an officer wrote “I have seen men behave with courage and resolution before now but so much determined bravery can hardly be equaled”. The Black Watch has since stood with their North American cousins in many conflicts including the Western Front in World War One. They continued this alliance with the advance through Europe during World War Two, in Korea at the Battle of the Hook and more recently in Iraq. The Black Watch served on Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 in 2003 and was the lead battle group in the assault on Basra. In November 2004, they reinforced the 1st United States Marine Division to the south of Fallujah. The battalion currently serves within 19 Light Brigade and is based in Fort George near Inverness. It has recently returned from a successful deployment in the Nad-e-Ali district of Helmand Province as part of 20 Armoured Brigade. This was the battalion’s second tour of Afghanistan; the first being in 2009 when they were deployed in an air assault role based at Kandahar. THE PIPES AND DRUMS The sound of the pipes has long instilled a great sense of pride and passion which has both inspired Scottish soldiers in the heat of battle and driven fear into the enemy as the kilted highlanders advanced towards them. The effect that the pipes had on the highland warriors was such that they were banned following the Jacobite Rising by the supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745. Equally, there are few more haunting and evocative sounds than a lament played on the pipes at times of mourning and remembrance.

THE BLACK WATCH The plans to amalgamate the historic Scottish regiments attracted considerable opposition and, as a compromise, the regiments retained their former names as their primary identifier, with the battalion number as a subtitle. Thus, the men you see today are from The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, abbreviated as 3 SCOTS. Its primary recruiting areas are in Fife, Dundee, Angus and Perth and Kinross, with the headquarters and museum located at Balhousie Castle in Perth.

The pipes had long been a source of entertainment to the clans, and as many of the Highland regiments were formed on that basis, it was natural that the pipes were incorporated into the regiments.

The battalion was permitted to retain its most famous distinction, the red hackle worn on the Tam o’ Shanter. The red hackle worn in the feather bonnets was originally issued in 1795 and legend has it that they were originally made from feathers dipped in the blood of the enemy.

The Pipes and Drums take part in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on a regular basis whenever their operational commitments permit. In 2003, the Tattoo took place very shortly after the battalion returned from its much-publicized operations in Iraq and the pipers and drummers postponed their leave to take part. They wore their desert combat uniforms and marched on to join the remainder if the pipes and drums playing the regimental march, Highland Laddie, to a tremendous reception from the audience at every performance.

The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) fought in almost every theatre of every campaign in which the British Army has been involved. It was formed in 1725 as six independent companies to calm the troubled Highlands of Scotland during the period between the Jacobite risings and was established as a regiment of foot in 1739. The regiment saw its first foreign service in 1745 at the Battle of Fontenoy in Flanders. In 1758 it fought against the

The music of the Pipes and Drums is integral to the way of life in a Scottish infantry regiment, and every company within the battalion has its own particular pipe tune. There are also specific tunes for the morning and evening and for Commanding Officer’s interviews.

The Pipes and Drums have always been an integral part of the battalion, and their current operational role is as the Machine Gun Platoon mounted in 4 x 4 vehicles. The pipers wear the Royal Stewart tartan and feather bonnets. www.threestages.net

Ana Moura Thursday, March 7, 2013; 7:30 pm

ANA MOURA Fado of the World There is no other voice in Fado quite like Ana Moura. Her voice strolls freely through tradition but flirts elegantly with pop music, broadening the spectrum of Fado, so typical of Lisbon, in a very personal way. But what sets her apart is not only the low-pitched and sensual tone, so unique – Ana Moura instantaneously transforms any melody to which she lends her voice, into Fado. It’s an immediate spark, an emotional explosion aimed ruthlessly to the listener’s heart. Fausto, José Afonso, Ruy Mingas, music from Angola and Fado; those were the melodies that were sung in the evenings of the Moura family in Coruche, when Ana Moura was but a little girl. She was born in another city of Ribatejo Province, Santarém, in 1979 – and yet was already very fond of music. Both parents sang, all her family on her mother’s side sang and any family meeting would end with a singing match. Though they sang a bit of everything, Ana started feeling that, for some reason, she had a special fondness for Fado. At age six she would sing her first Fado, Cavalo Ruço and hear her mother humming O Xaile da Minha Mãe. When she became a teenager, Fado was left aside. She became interested in other genres more in line with her age and preferences of her friends from high school. It is with that curiosity for other types of music, in those teenage years - a time of discovery and rebellion - that Ana Moura arrived in Carcavelos, in the outskirts of Lisbon, aged 14, to finish high school. She came not to sing but to study, enrolling in Academia dos Amadores de Música. Here, she formed her first band with some school friends. Although she would sing other genres, Ana’s voice rapidly gained a natural Fado tone to it. Even with a rock band, she managed to include a Fado or two in her repertoire – usually Povo que Lavas no Rio by Amália, who was by then her main influence as a singer. Her experience with the cover band, Sexto Sentido ended up leading to the production of a pop/rock album with musician Luís Oliveira by a Universal label. But the album was never finished. Destiny then played a role, taking Ana Moura to a bar in Carcavelos where she let herself go and sang a Fado. In the audience was guitar player António Parreira who, quite impressed, took her by the hand and introduced her to several Fado houses. Then, at a Christmas party for musicians and Fado singers, Ana Moura met the very people who would populate her nights from then on, and she was invited to sing. This time, it is Maria da Fé, co-owner of the prestigious Fado house, Senhor Vinho, who is taken by her raw talent. Besides cheering her, Maria da Fé also invited her to sing at her Fado house. 16D SPRING 2013 PROGRAM GUIDE

www.threestages.net

It is indeed that nightlife in Senhor Vinho and other Fado houses that her singing matured. Previously, Ana Moura would sing Fado because of the natural trail of her voice, following her intuition. Now, after the advice of the more experienced – mainly Maria da Fé and Jorge Fernando – she has been given other reasons to sing, without killing her spontaneity. That passion reveals itself in such a way that quickly took the attention of journalist Miguel Esteves Cardoso. Before her name was known by the record labels, it had been the journalism of Esteves Cardoso that amplified the talent of the new Fado singer after he saw her in a TV show called Fados de Portugal. It was after reading his inflamed article in Independente that Tozé Brito, General Manager of Universal went to Senhor Vinho to witness the voice he knew only from Sexto Sentido. It didn’t take long before Tozé invited her to record her first album. Jorge Fernando was invited to produce her debut album, Guarda-me a Vida na Mão (2003). Alongside the artistic direction, the musician was also responsible for six out of fifteen songs in the album, one of which was taken by Ana as her signature theme – Sou do Fado, Sou Fadista (I Belong to Fado, I am a Fado singer). The collaboration between the two extended to the follow-up albums. From the beginning, it was clear that Ana Moura’s Fado had a rare wide range, featuring people like Ciganos d’Ouro and Pedro Jóia, and instruments like cajon and Flamenco guitar. But the essence remains untouched: tradition is of key importance. The reaction of the public and critics to Guarda-me a Vida na Mão was unanimously enthusiastic. Ana Moura became an immediate feature in Portuguese concerts and, in time, also abroad. Aconteceu, in 2004, was the logical sequence to her debut album. Being a double record it revealed the singer’s extraordinary ambition and showed the amazing sureness on her chosen path: the natural marriage between the more traditional Fado and a very personal way of giving it an air of contemporaneity. Ana Moura’s career began to gain such momentum that she abandoned Senhor Vinho, in order to accommodate the invitations to sing abroad. She later joined the regular cast of another Fado house, Casa de Linhares – Bacalhau de Molho. Her success abroad took her to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York in February of 2005. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Tim Ries, The Rolling Stones’ sax player entered Tower Records in Tokyo,

looking for Fado albums. His idea was to include a Fado singer in the second record of his Rolling Stones Project, inviting musicians of other genres to play some of the band’s themes with himself. He bought three CDs at random selection, guided only by his instinct, and it was love at first hearing. For the project, Ana sang Brown Sugar and No Expectations. She later performed No Expectations live with the Stones at the Alvalade XXI stadium. On several occasions, the tours of Ana Moura and The Rolling Stones met. In one of these occasions in San Francisco, Ries called Ana Moura and showed her a song he composed with her voice in mind. Velho Anjo would then be included in her next album, Para Além da Saudade (2005) after being given a more Fado approach by Jorge Fernando. One of the special features of Para Além da Saudade was the rare participation of the musician Fausto in an album by another artist. Ana, having growing up listening to the performers’ famous song, Por Este Rio Acima, summoned up the courage to ask him to compose a new theme for her. Another special guest, composing specially for herself, was Amélia Muge. The mixture of cultures was present in the form of a duet with famous Spanish singer Patxi Andión. Tim Ries, besides authoring of one of the songs, also played the sax in two tracks – Velho Anjo and A Sós com a Noite. Thanks to the song Os Búzios by Jorge Fernando, the success of Para Além da Saudade reached new levels in Ana Moura’s career and eventually led to the privilege of singing in the two main venues in Portugal, the Lisbon and Oporto Coliseums. The album also won the Amália Rodrigues award. After the huge success of Para Além da Saudade – which spent 70 weeks at the top when the fourth album Leva-me aos Fados (2009) was released, quickly reaching platinum status. As usual, it was produced by Jorge Fernando with lyrics by Tozé Brito, Manuela de Freitas, Mário Rainho and Nuno Miguel Guedes, as well as an original by José Mário Branco. The album has also another composition by Amélia Muge. Não é um Fado Normal (It’s Not a Regular Fado), features Gaiteiros de Lisboa and confirmed the singer’s unique path, expressed in the title itself. In May 2009, after a phone conversation, Prince flew especially to Paris to witness Ana Moura’s charming performance at La Cigale. On July 18, 2010, Ana Moura once again took Fado to a great pop/rock concert, singing with Prince on the encore of his show at the Super Bock Super Rock festival. Together, they performed a Portuguese version of Walk in Sand and the traditional Fado Vou Dar de Beber à Dor. In September 2010, Ana Moura accepted the invitation of Frankfurt Radio Bigband to sing in two concerts in the German city. In April 2011, she once again sang with the jazz orchestra in her return to the Lisbon and Oporto coliseums. For Ana Moura, it was the celebration of the year that saw her victory at the Portuguese Golden Globe awards, her ascension to the top of Billboard and Amazon, and the nomination of “Artist of the Year” in the English magazine Songlines. Some months later, in August, she sang at the

Back2Back festival in Rio de Janeiro, together with Gilberto Gil, performing Fado Tropical by Chico Buarque. Introducing her fifth album Desfado, in 2012, Ana Moura prepared a revolution in her music, summoning special international guest star – the legendary jazzman Herbie Hancock to her side. In 2007 Hancock dedicated an album to Joni Mitchell, River: The Joni Letters. The album – co-produced by Larry Klein (the singer’s close partner and ex-husband, alongside which he became famous) - won a Grammy award for Best Album of the Year. It was the same Larry Klein who produced Desfado at the Henson Recording Studio in Los Angeles. It was Klein who brought in musician Herbie Hancock – who played in the Miles Davis’ quintet back in the sixties and left his distinct imprint in jazz music the following decade with his hot electric pianos and funk swing. Hancock lent the sound of his Fender Rhodes to Dream of Fire – a composition written by Ana Moura and an American undisclosed friend – as one of the English songs included in Desfado. Ana also covers the Joni Mitchell track A Case Of You’. Desfado derives its name from one of the two themes composed to Ana Moura by Pedro da Silva Martins, from the band Deolinda. The main purpose was to sing songs composed especially for her by people of her own generation but outsiders to Fado: Virgem Suta, Miguel Araújo, Luísa Sobral, Pedro Abrunhosa and Manuel Cruz are some of the participants. The first single, Até ao Verão, was written by Márcia. Here, Ana Moura remarkably resembles Lhasa de Sela. It’s no surprise that the album is being presented as a turning point in the singer’s career, denoting her pop influence. It was produced for an international market, as well as appealing to a new Portuguese audience. Alongside the Fado regulars, Ana Moura included a song by António Zambujo, lyrics by Aldina Duarte, Manuela de Freitas and Mário Rainho. As for the musicians, Ana Moura kept the Fado reference – Portuguese guitar by Ângelo Freire and Fado viola by Pedro Soare. She also included the collaboration of double bass David Piltch (Bob Dylan, k.d.lang), guitar player Dean Parks (Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder), percussionist Jay Bellerose (Aimee Man, Ani DiFranco), keyboarder Patrick Warren (Fiona Apple, Bruce Springsteen), violinist Freddy Koella (Lhasa, Carla Bruni) and the quintessential saxophonist Tim Ries, the man who introduced her to Rolling Stones and led her to sing No Expectations and Brown Sugar. Ana introduced some of the tracks from Desfado on her tour which began in Mexico October 2012. In Portugal, the first presentation was on November 16th in Leiria, followed by Portimão, Faro, Torres Vedras, Tróia, Torres Novas and Fafe. Her last concert in 2012 was in Belgrade, Serbia. She began 2013 with performances in Portugal, including the sold-out presentations at the prestigious venues Coliseu dos Recreios, in Lisbon, and Coliseu do Porto, in Oporto. Besides the concerts already booked for Portugal Ana Moura will also perform in Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, USA, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, among others. www.threestages.net

An Irish Hooley! Friday, March 8, 2013; 4 & 7:30 pm

It just wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s Day without honoring the great tradition and the mighty joy of being Irish. Prepare yourself for a raucous, rave-up of an Irish night! With rip-roaring music, song, and dance, Kerry Records presents An Irish Hooley! with Slugger O’Toole. An Irish Hooley — it’s a traditional Irish term for “boisterous party” — brings us seven musicians of Slugger O’Toole who share their passion for the music of Ireland and the Celtic Nations by concocting a heady brew of foot-stomping pub songs, heart-rending ballads, and deft instrumentals. With traditional instrumentation including fiddle, button accordion, mandolin, banjo, Bodhrán, pennywhistle, flute, and guitars, the band thrills audiences with its brilliant close-harmony acapella renditions of the Irish classics that are true to the Celtic core. Special guests – Members of the superb Kerry Records Dance team; Kevin Horton (Riverdance), Kimberly Gerard and Keara Osborne. Matt Foyer – Mandolin, Pennywhistles, Flute An enigma! A man of few words! A mysterious presence with the voice of an ancient pirate, he doesn’t so much play his mandolin as punish it. He would like nothing more than to make you weep with a stirring melody coaxed with a feather-light touch from his battered old flute, and then kick your ass for being a cry-baby. “Seeing these guys live makes me feel like I’m at a pub in the west of Ireland.....I’ll take a Guinness please!” (Conejo News Press) “L.A.’s hardest working Irish band” (LA Weekly)

Dan Harper – Guitar A true libertine with a lust for life and a fondness for enjoying the finer things, Dan has the gift of the gab and the presence of mind to tell you all about it! Storyteller, raconteur, Renaissance man, he’s quick with a joke, but deadly serious about rocking the joint when the band takes the stage. Zac Leger Bodhrán Zac has been playing music professionally for over a decade. His work can be heard on over two dozen albums. He has played, recorded and performed with the likes of The Border Collies, John Doyle (ex-Solas), Mike Dugger, Glen Road, Liz Carroll, Rathkeltair, cittern player Joseph Sobol, Oisre (of which he was a founding member), fiddler Charlene Adzima, and world-renowned finger-style guitarist Al Petteway, to name a few. He was a member of the critically acclaimed Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul as well as the Irish-based show Celtic Crossroads. He has toured throughout the U.S., Canada and Ireland and currently resides in Los Angeles. Johnny “The Box” McKenna – Button Accordion, Bodhrán The son of Irish immigrants from Leitrim and Longford, Johnny is a proud Narrowback and a great Yankee fan. You can find him in his basement digging through crates of old vinyls, looking for an obscure tune that he can squeeze through the bellows of his auld mother’s Baldoni button box for the simple joy of blowing your mind with the beauty of it. John is a regular performer with Kerry Records.

Tim “Clogh” McNamara – Bass The luckiest man you know. Tim shreds on the guitar but picked up the bass when 30 years of Marshall-stack abuse and sitting too close to the goal siren at Red Wings games finally took their toll on his hearing. Now he plays by feeling the waves of vibration coming up through the soles of his soul. If he’s smiling at you with that crazy look in his eyes, you’ve probably done something right. And don’t ask about the “Clogh” story, because you don’t want to know. Peter Romano – Guitar Peter began his professional career composing music and lyrics for The Actors Studio, including Touch the Names, in which he performed with Eva Marie Saint; the Ovation Award winning Fences, starring Charlie Robinson; and Unlisted, directed by William Devane. Peter has toured and performed with such artists as Irish Tenor Dennis McNeil, John Sommers (renowned for writing John Denver’s hit Thank God I’m a Country Boy), Larry Treadwell (guitarist for Thomas Dolby), Nathan East (of Eric Clapton’s band), and Uilleann Piper Paddy Keenan. He is a founding member of the popular bands, The Brilliant Gypsies, The Ploughboys, Waking Kate, and Speyside. His performances have included The Los Angeles Irish Film Festival, The L.A. Irish Fair, The Ventura Highland Games, The Big Irish Fair at Irvine Lake, Scotsfest, The Bakersfield Celtic Music Festival, and The CTMS Equinox Festival. In addition, Peter now enjoys weekly residencies at two of L.A.’s finest pubs. Peter is grateful to the lads of Slugger O’Toole for the opportunity to share his love of this music with you. Sláinte Mhah! John Sommers – Fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar Sommers, a former Navy pilot has recently moved back to his hometown of Los Angeles from Aspen, Colorado where he was a member of the popular Defiance Stringband. He is a multi-talented instrumentalist (fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar) and singer/songwriter and has performed for audiences throughout the world. John was a member of John Denver’s band (during Denver’s “golden years” in the 70s) and in 1975 his composition, Thank God I’m A Country Boy became a number one hit on both the pop and country charts and was nominated for a Grammy Award. Since his return to Los Angeles, John has become the newest member of Slugger O’Toole.

Special Guests – Irish Dance Kimi Gerard (Irish Dance) Kimberly was a competitive Irish dancer at The Sean Gavin Academy as well as Aniar Academy of Irish Dance for over 7 years. She advanced quickly in competition, especially in soft shoe, which is her favorite. She competed in local, regional, and national competitions. After leaving competitive Irish Dance, Kimberly joined the Kerry Dance Troupe. She attends Saddleback College and plans on studying Geography and Geology when she transfers to university. She hopes to teach Earth science to high school children when she graduates. Kimberly was the Kerry Dance Troupe’s dance captain for An Irish Christmas 2012 tour. Kevin Horton (Irish Dance – Riverdance) Kevin has been Irish Dancing for over 22 years now. Through the years, he has won many championships, including the Regionals, Nationals, and medalling 5th place at the World Championships. After heading off to college to Arizona State, he won a coveted spot on the Riverdance Tour, where he travelled for 6 years as a dancer. Tours included the United States, Canada, Ireland, Japan, China, and Korea. Some highlights from touring include dancing for the Imperial Empress of Japan, performing at Radio City Music Hall, and appearing as a guest performer on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Currently, he is living and working in Los Angeles, CA at the William Morris Endeavor. Although he misses being on the road and touring, Kevin is excited to continue performing. Keara Osborne (Irish Dance) Keara has been an Irish dancer for nearly 22 years. She has competed numerous times at the local, regional, and national level. Now retired from competitive dance she enjoys performing with Irish bands at local festivals. In 2012, she was delighted to join the Irish dance ensemble, Battle of the Dance in Anaheim, California. Kerry Records is thrilled to welcome Keara as a new member of The Kerry Dance Troupe. She currently lives in Irvine, California, where she attends the University of Southern California in pursuit of her Master of Social Work degree with a focus on mental health in the military population. The Kerry Dance Troupe Comprised of dancers from Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Magic of the Dance and local champion dancers, these ‘ambassadors’ of Irish dance work with Kerry Records on various aspects of Irish folk-dance traditions, incorporating old Irish dance styles into modern Irish dance styles. Through this process, the best of ethnic and modern Ireland is represented, exposing audiences to the beauty, passion, and uniqueness of our traditional dance. ROOTS & BOOTS Together, the three stars draw on a repertoire of over 40 Top Ten country hit songs; as good buddies on stage, they have tales to tell and the camaraderie is obvious. It’s an acoustic evening filled with with stories and songs, getting back to the roots of their music; You’ve Got To Stand For Something, John Deere Green, She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful, and so many more. AARON TIPPIN Tippin has crusaded for the working man and woman since he ripped country music wide open with his uncompromising single You’ve Got To Stand For Something. His voice continued to ring loud and clear with such hits as I Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way, “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With The Radio, That’s As Close As I’ll Get To Loving You, My Blue Angel and Kiss This. Five of his albums are certified “Gold” and a sixth CD—Read Between The Lines—stands at the “Platinum” level. Tippin’s honest lyrics and direct, impassioned vocals have built a large and devoted audience.

JOE DIFFIE Since he first topped the charts in 1990 with Home, Joe has remained on a steady course, staying true to his Oklahoma roots and delivering hit after hit; totaling twelve #1’s, twenty top 10’s and four gold and platinum albums. When you attend a Joe Diffie concert, you’re not waiting for him to sing his hit - you’re waiting for him to sing your hit. Whether it’s Ships That Don’t Come In, Pickup Man, John Deere Green, or If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets), Joe’s music always makes you remember where you were the first time you heard it.

SAMMY KERSHAW In the course of breaking into the ranks of stardom in country music, Sammy Kershaw has made contributions to more than just the charts.
