a little something for the kids AAAHHH.... THE HOLIDAYS. FOR MANY OF US, ALL IT TAKES IS THE MENTION OF “FAMIILY THANKSGIVING” AND IN OUR MIND’S EYE WE SEE... THE KIDS’ TABLE! Remember the kids’ table? When we were growing up, we were relegated to our grandparents’ coffee table, and got to indulge in mini glasses of ginger ale (oh, the luxury!). But that was about the extent of the kids’ table festivities. Today, we think the experience can benefit from a little Garnish. After all, you’re only young once!

1 1/2 C powdered suga r 1 C butter, softened 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 teaspoon almond ex tract

1 egg

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cream of tart ar granulated sugar

USE MOM’S SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE!

Preheat oven to 375.

Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract and egg. St ir in remaining ingred ients (except granulated su gar). Cover and refrig erate 3 hours. Divide dough in halve s and roll each half to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut int o shapes with cookie cutters & sprinkle with granula ted sugar. Place on lightlygreased cookie sheet and bake until edges are light brown (7-8 min utes). garnish workbook • 2012
