Spring 2012

spring has sprung! [ and we’re dreaming of fresh flowers, blue skies and wearing short sleeves again! ] SPRING AND BABIES. HOW CAN THOSE TWO WORDS JUST NOT MAKE YOU SMILE?! Each represent new life, new growth and celebration. The perfect time of year to launch our first issue of garnish. We thought it fitting to showcase our take on a Garnished baby shower, pint-sized. I hope you find inspiration and delight as you take a peek at all our ideas for itty bitty foods to welcome those itty bitty toes. I consider Garnish to be my fourth child. There have been sleepless nights and colicky episodes. But the wonder of watching its first wobbly steps turn into more confident strides makes the growing pains dissipate. I am blessed to love what I do and watch this baby grow! Of course we wouldn’t be growing without you. Our customers are simply the best! I am honored that you have brought Garnish into your homes; into your celebrations. I am often left with the word “Wow!” when I see what has been done to our blank canvases. Your talent and creativity never cease to amaze me. THE WHOLE PREMISE OF GARNISH IS TO BRING A TWINKLE TO THE EYE AND A SPARKLE TO THE HEART. And really, it doesn’t take much. We could all take a lesson from the little ones in our lives. What’s their favorite gift? Not the toy itself, but the packaging in which it came. As my five-year-old exclaimed last Christmas, with wonder in his eyes, “Oh Mommy, I’ve always wanted a box!” And so to those of you who may think “love the idea, wish I had an occasion to use it” I say—let’s have a little chat! Because

thinkgarnish.com

you don’t need to get caught up in over-thinking what you are going to Garnish. Just go for it! When I started Garnish, yes, parties and weddings were part of the thought process. But the everyday moments were just as important. Good grades in school? A co-worker in need of a smile? A thank you for a friend who went above and beyond? Toss some treats (and by the way, they do not have to be homemade) in a kraft treat bag. Write a personal note on the outside, perhaps add a little twine and voilà—a Garnished moment. Go where your imagination takes you! I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL THIS NEW SEASON BRINGS. And I hope that you take the opportunity to run through the grass barefooted, surround yourself with those who make you smile and find a moment or two to be celebrated.

do me a favor

We’ve had glassine and kraft paper favor bags in the Garnish shop since... well... pretty much forever. And they’re definitely some of your favorites! This Spring we’ve got something new in store. And we think you’ll love it.

Introducing our burlap drawstring favor bag At 4" x 6" it’s big enough to hold some pretty serious treats. And the burlap fabric makes them nice and sturdy for toting around. At just 70¢ a piece they’re a super-affordable way to add some organic flavor to your favors. Get the Garnish here. This Spring you’ll see plenty of ideas on our blog for making the most of these burlap babies. In the meantime, check out our idea on the next page.

these favor bags are simple to personalize. Just add a paper tag (or a bead or a bauble) to the drawstring and you’re good to go! [ it’s that easy! ]

If you’re a regular Garnish blog reader you might remember this idea from just before St. Patty’s day (because we could all use a little luck o’ the Irish, right?). Here we’re stashing some Irish breakfast tea in our burlap bags, but they would be equally suited to lavender sachets, goodie bags, or a unique gift bag for all good things that come in small packages!

time in a bottle

We’ve got a confession to make. We have a tendency to get a wee bit nostalgic for the “good old days.” You know the ones... when the milkman still brought milk deliveries to your door? We always wish we could capture time in a bottle, and we think this new product does just that!

Introducing our plastic mini milk jug At 32 ounces this bottle holds some serious beverage. And the handle (and lid) makes it easy to tote and pour. Like all of our plastic bottles, they are BPA-free and dishwasher safe (top rack)... which means you can re-use them to your heart’s content. At $4.50 a piece they are an affordable splurge for your next edible event. Get the Garnish here. This Spring you’ll see plenty of time in a bottle ideas for these adorable jugs. In the meantime, check out our idea on the next page.

girls’ night in If you’re anything like us, old man Winter was a little harsh on your skin. Now that it’s time to get back into short sleeves (not to mention shorts!), maybe it’s also time to get your best girls together for a fun night of pampering: manis, pedis and face masks. At the end of the night, send them home with their very own spa pack. Featured products include our squeeze bottles, plastic tubes, frosted die cut bags, labels, and white paper bowl with lid. time in a bottle Spring is the start of wedding season, and if you’d rather not shop a registry, we’ve got an idea ideal for garnishing. Why not help the newlyweds celebrate their marriage milestones by gifting them with wine suitable for drinking on their first, fifth and tenth anniversaries? Packed up in our kraft wine boxes and garnished with your own decorative elements, these are a unique gift from the heart. Get the Garnish here. (We even have wine suggestions!)

let the sun shine in This might not be the oldest of our greatest hits, but it’s definitely one of the brightest. Why not fill a berry box with treats tailormade to celebrate Spring? Here we added flower seeds, a fresh-scent candle, a lemon bar in our glassine bag, some pink lemonade in our 8oz bottle and some bubbles, all wrapped up in a cloth napkin the color of sunshine. But you could pack just about anything.. and still get a smile! Get the Garnish here.
