Several members of our Board were also able to attend a special Affiliate Leaders Meeting prior to Imaging. We spent two half days sharing with other Affiliate groups and then finAileen Harding, M.Photog, CPP. ished up with a Leadership Training Class led by David Trust, CFO of PPA. I felt even more proud of our organization as we listened to the struggles of some of the other groups throughout the country. I am overwhelmed at the enthusiasm and positive energy that permeate PPGH. This is truly a wonderful place to be. Karen McCoy Butts and I also attended the PEC (Print Exhibition Committee) Judges Refresher Meeting. We're making sure to stay current with all the recent changes in Print Competition. Be sure to check the December issue of our ViewFinder if you have any questions concerning these changes. Karen wrote a great article detailing them. February is starting off with a Bang! Our big “Hands On Learning: Location Beaumont” Event is on the 4th. Registration is filling up quickly and we are excited to bring our Education and Fellowship to the Beaumont area. The Event will be held in the beautiful Julie Rogers Theater, a state of the art facility so gorgeous that it will take your breath away. InFocus Camera Store will be there as well, displaying some of their canvases and prints and sharing information about both their camera sales as well as Print Department. Be sure to drive on over, join the fun and support our outreach. Our All Day February program will be “Relationship Portraiture” with Leslie Lake Hoyt. Leslie is fast becoming known throughout the industry as a leading Fine Art Portrait Artist. Tony Corbell has noted her signature look as the “Leslie” and is one of her biggest fans. She has been named in the top ten IPC GIA childrens category in 2014 and 2015, winning third place in 2014. I can't wait to see her in action as she shares her special magic with us. She will not only cover how she lights, shoots, and intereacts with her subjects, but also how she processes her files to get her signature look and sells them for profit. March will bring Kari Douma and her All Day Program on “Families-Life's Greatest Blessing”. Kari will cover working with families from the Consultation all the way through to the Sales Appointment. Her attention to detail and pre-planning techniques which include the client have resulted in a collaborative style that her clients love. She'll share how she's grown her Family Portrait business and styled images that will be treasured for a lifetime. I want to send out a big Thank You to all the members who help pick up all the tables and chairs after our meetings, make phone calls on our phone committee, clear away trash after a meeting, and pitch in and help in so many ways, all the time. You all warm my heart and I am so very proud to be a part of PPGH!

Words of Wisdom from Brad Barton Picasso Principle - Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. Art is hundreds of hours of errors, experimentation, and training. Photographic artists are not photographers. Public view of a photographer has cap, art does not. Value does not equal price. You are not your client.
JANUARY MEETING
Fear is the only enemy. Artists are not paid for labor, they are paid for their vision. You give art through your style, service through your experience to educate your client on what they way. People don't care what you do, they care why you do it. Apple creates fans. Microsoft creates users. Build a community of fans. We judge our capability others judge what we have already done. Amazing things rarely happen inside your comfort zone. People like to work with people they feel like they know.
