MEMBER PROFILE: JAIME CASTRO

of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Masters in Facilities Management (both from SMU), a Licensed Professional Engineer in 30+ states, Certified Energy Manager, a LEED AP (Operations and Maintenance), Certified Fire and Explo-sions Investigator, certificate in Audio Engineering, and currently working to obtain my CPP. I am an engineering project manager for Henderson Engineers where I also take photos for our marketing campaign ranging from the facilities we have worked on to employee headshots to team events. My side business is Jaime Castro Digial Images where I specialize in fine art, commercial, music, and abstract photography as well as digital manipulation/composites. I am single with a 4 yr old Pitt-Terrier rescue named Leia. My other main interest is music; I am bass player and drummer/percussionist. I'm also a die-hard baseball fan where my blood runs blue and orange for my New York Mets. Hugh Syme is a huge influence in what I want to achieve. I also am heavily influenced by film concept artists such as Alan Lee from Lord of the Rings, and the music of Rush.

NEW MEMBER: DONNA FRAZIER I've always been a hobbyist photographer. I inherited the love of creating memories from my mother. She documented everything! This instilled in me the importance of preserving memories. Recently, I wanted to change career paths from years in the healthcare field to something more creative. While working on my graphic design degree, digital photography was a required course. This is when everything changed for me. I changed my degree plan from graphic design to digital photographythat semester! I received my AAS degree in digital photography at Houston Community College in 2017. I was fortunate to intern with a family photographer in my area during that time, where I learned a great deal more than I did in the classroom. I have participated in the PPA Super One Day courses and was recently mentored in newborn photography by Alison Montgomery. I heard about PPGH while mentoring with Alison this past November. She shared with me the advantages to be gained by becoming a member, attending meetings and submitting images.

I also continue being educated through books, Creative Live courses, YouTube and try to attend as many photoshoot conferences that my schedule and finances will allow. Like most new photographers, I started off photographing anything. I do this to gain experience in different lighting environments. I want to specialize in maternity, newborn and boudoir photography. I love capturing growth, beauty and confidence! I've been told that my style is 'women's photography'. I also love street photography. My son and I moved to Texas from Los Angeles in 2006. It has been quite the culture change, but we're adapting. My son attends college at Texas A&M Kingsville. I love to explore the small towns from Houston to Corpus, and will stop and photograph the Main streets and downtown areas. I also grow butterfly gardens in my yard and enjoy photographing them in their different stages. I just want to surround myself with like- minded individuals and improve as a visual storyteller. I was always taking pictures with my parent's Olympus as a kid. I always used to use and process a lot of disposables, photographing my toys, the dog, etc. In college, I was the SMU Daily Campus (student newspaper) webmaster, graphics editor, and staff photographer for my tenure throughout college. I mainly photographed music events around Dallas with the occasion events around campus. As an engineer, a camera has always been my main documenting tool. Throughout my career, I have photographed over 1,000 buildings (mainly building systems) throughout the country as well as photgraphed for forensic analysis. In 2013, I started venturing into landscape and commercial as a way to diversify. This has now morphed still to this day into fine art. I am very much self-taught but have had quite a number of art classes from high school through college. I have been working with Adobe software since their inception in the mid-80s when my dad brought home our first Macintosh (SE30). Over the years, I have taken several workshops to further my knowledge base but the main source of education has been photography magazines, especially the DIY projects. I have a Bachelor
