Mayor of Seville

In recent years, Seville has played a major role in tourism growth, mainly due to its hotel and gastronomic offering, added to its history and character. Seville has much to offer its guests: a long and rich history, which has left us an impressive artistic legacy with three World Heritage monuments; a magnificent climate during most of the year that allows visitors to enjoy the city and various outdoor activities; culture, tradition and festivals; and last, but not least, Seville’s famous and exquisite cuisine.

The Theme We live in a world of growing doubt. Voices and opinions multiply, but as sources of information proliferate, people’s confidence in their reliability declines. Trust in governments, news organisations and social media is at an all-time low, and businesses have a constant challenge to protect their brand’s integrity. In a year dominated by the fake news phenomenon, the mining of personal Facebook data, the Cambridge Analytica scandal and more, there is global awareness of

designed to help them shape the travel industry of tomorrow,

As travel horizons expand, and travel destinations face upheaval, how does the industry make sure the customer is confident enough to travel? As business models and travel providers proliferate, how do we make sure the customer is confident to buy and trusting enough to believe that they will enjoy an experience in line with their expectations? What are the cornerstones of the future relationship between the travel industry and the traveller? The priority for any business is to focus on building trust, helping to address people’s fears and concerns honestly. Businesses that are able to connect, engage and drive belief in their products will be richly rewarded, whilst those who rest on their laurels will falter.

THE TRAVEL CONVENTION

Business Sessions The Travel Convention is themed to ensure it carries a consistency of message and relevancy, with the event programme built around four key pillars: Our World, Our Industry, Your Business and Your Network. These have been designed to help delegates understand the current world situation, how this will impact the travel industry and how best to prepare their businesses for what lies ahead.

what’s going on and what lies ahead? the issues and emerging trends affecting the industry best business practice and innovations coming down the line quality networking with fellow delegates

The range of topics addressed on the main stage will provide a broad vision of the future and a host of tips and insights, with specialist topics explored within a choice of four workshop sessions.

Convention Moderator Broadcast journalist Chris Ship, Royal Editor at ITV News, will return to moderate the Convention’s business sessions for the third successive year. He joined the Royal Bureau after many successful years as the channel’s Deputy Political Editor at Westminster. In that role, he covered two general elections, interviewed all four recently-sitting prime ministers and covered the EU Referendum and the fallout from Brexit. Just as at home in the studio, Chris often presents ITV News programmes at the weekend and has anchored network news bulletins live on location.
