The Travel Convention The Travel Convention is the UK travel industry’s flagship event; providing inspiration to delegates through an outstanding programme of content, with thought-provoking ideas to challenge the way they think and approach their business, as well as providing opportunities to network with peers and industry experts. The 2014 Travel Convention will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The Power of Personal The theme of this year’s Business Sessions is The Power of Personal. In future, travel companies will need to focus on the customers’ experience with their company, not just on their products and customer service. But before you can delight millions of customers one at a time, you need to know your customers, their expectations, their preferences and what kind of relationship will work for both them and you. This year’s sessions will focus on the steps that travel businesses are taking as they prepare for a future that will be very different to the past.

Attendees The Travel Convention is attended by decision makers, influencers and opinion formers spanning the full breadth of the mainstream and specialist travel sector; from cruise lines, tour operators, hotels and airlines to all types of travel retailer. It is also attended by industry experts, such as accountants, lawyers and insurance providers; as well as those providing broader business knowledge and advice, from technology providers to marketing experts. The Travel Convention attracts more media from the UK national, consumer and travel trade press than any other travel conference. Numbers for this year’s Convention will be capped at 600 to provide delegates with the optimum event and networking experience.

The foundation of every Travel Convention is developed around four key pillars:

• what lies ahead in politics, economics, finance and changing patterns of consumer behaviour.

• the latest trends and issues affecting the travel industry and ABTA’s Members, including the results of ABTA’s 2014 consumer travel trends research.

• insights into new technologies, commercial and marketing innovations coming down the line and impacting travel.

• opportunities to network with travel industry colleagues; ABTA’s Board and senior management team, plus specialists who can provide knowledge and expertise to help delegates develop a successful and sustainable travel businesses.

2013 Highlights and Feedback

I thought this year’s Convention was a fantastic occasion and the feedback has been great from a variety of sources not usually given to easy praise! The lead partner lunch, flawlessly organised, was a huge success and I know Charlie and I are extremely enthusiastic about our partnership and very, very mindful of all the hard work that goes in from your side.

I appreciate the exposure for Travelzoo from the lanyard sponsorship, including placement in the programme and even the reminder texts about wearing them. I thought overall it seemed like a very successful Convention and I also thought the programme hung together and flowed very well.
