Chamber Challenge The support for the first Governor’s Food Bowl Chamber Challenge has been great! The team leaders Sarita Harding, Andrea Melton, and Brenda Miller want to thank everyone in the HPG community who supported the drive by donating food and funds. The contest challenged chambers throughout the Commonwealth to compete with each other to see who could contribute the most to the Central Virginia Food Bank during the period of Memorial Day to 4th of July. This drive was important to us because our area will receive 408,050 lbs. from the food bank in 2012-2013. Over the course of the challenge, the HPG chamber volunteers collected 6,037 lbs! To make it more fun we also created our own Member to Member challenge to see which business would contribute the most in the category of small, medium, and large businesses.

The winners of the HPG Chamber Challenge are: Small Business Category: 1st Place: Reliability Center, Inc. 2nd Place: BandyWorks 3rd Place: Independence Place Apartments Medium Business Category: 1st Place: Strosnider Chevrolet 2nd Place: Fort Lee Federal Credit Union 3rd Place: River View on the Appomattox Health and Rehab Center Large Business Category: 1st Place: John Randolph Medical Center 2nd Place: Columbia Gas of Virginia 3rd Place: Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients Non-Member Category: 1st Place: Save-A-Lot 2nd Place: Golden Express 3rd Place: Wayne Dotson, Prince George County Resident, Local Farmer M15
