Compost Alliance In order to reach the campus goal of zero waste by 2020, Compost Alliance has worked with Campus Recycling and Refuse Services to assist departments and units with upgrading their recycling systems and adding composting in their buildings. The new system is the adoption of the deskside mini-bin trash system, which removes desk-side landfill bins from offices and replaces them with smaller sidesaddle bins that attach to mixed paper recycling desk-side bins. Centralized landfill, recycling, and composting stations with clear signage are established in convenient locations throughout the building. Staff Assistants provide to the buildings’ students staff and faculty education about the new program and ways individuals can help UC Berkeley reach its goal of Zero Waste by 2020. The standard set up of composting, recycling and landfill slim jims with signage
