TGIF by the Numbers Students pay a $6.00/semester TGIF fee; TGIF receives $4.00 and financial aid receives $2.00 of every fee. TGIF is up for referendum in 2016. Since its inaugural grant cycle in spring 2008, TGIF has awarded over $1.8 million in grants to 123 projects, in the form of 96 spring grant awards, 26 fall mini-grant awards, and 1 mini-loan. These grant awards have included the funding of 233 student sustainability internships and student interns have worked an estimated 15,000+ hours on TGIF-funded projects.

Grant Reporting Folder Each TGIF Grant Project receives a Google Drive folder containing all reporting materials. Folder should also be used to store and record all grant project materials. Folder allows for real-time reporting and sharing of information. • • • • •

Grant Reporting • August 4th: Updated Timeline Due • October 3rd: 1st Project Update Due • December/January: 2nd Project Update Due and Meeting with Coordinator • March 6th: 3rd Project Update Due • April 6th: Project Poster Due • Earth Week, around April 22nd: Present Poster at CACS Summit • June 1st: Final Report Due (Completed Projects) OR 4th Project Update Due (Continuing Projects) Failure to meet these requirements by the due dates will impact future funding opportunities with TGIF. TGIF also holds the right to not disperse awarded funds to a project if the project is not meeting the TGIF requirements.


Grant Budget • Track grant budget expenses in your budget sheet. – You will be required to submit a final ledger budget upon completion of your project.

• Budget Adjustments: Submit a budget adjustment request to Coordinator for any changes to your approved grant budget – Allow up to one week for approval. – Cannot be used to request additional funds. Additional funding requests can be made through the mini-grant program. Please notify the Coordinator prior to applying.


Grant Project Timeline • As noted previously, an updated timeline is due in August. Continue to update timeline during course of project implementation. • If your project is going to be delayed 1.5 months or more, you must submit the Timeline Adjustment Form to the Coordinator.


Hiring Students • Share grant plans with your HR rep- inform ahead of time. Share grant application, intern details, and pay. Follow legal procedures. • Use TGIF Student Intern Template to write Job Description. • Be up front about all intern expectations. • Share job description with Coordinator to post on Callisto and publicize through the Student Environmental Resource Center. • Hiring process can take as long as a month- or more! • Make sure to start process early; collect resumes and cover letters and conduct interviews. • Work with Coordinator on an onboarding/orientation process.


Education & Outreach • All press, publicity, or conference submissions related to your project should mention your TGIF grant. • Always use the TGIF Logo in your publicity materials. • Each project will have a TGIF project page- use this in your publicity efforts. – http://tgif.berkeley.edu/index.php/funded-projects/grantcycle/grantawards2014 (Live by June 1st)

• Upload all pictures and related marketing/publicity materials (articles, videos, flyers, graphics, etc.) to your Google Drive Folder. • Materials will be used by TGIF on TGIF website and social media outlets.


Grant Award Release • Grant release form must be signed before any funds released. • Provide departmental charts string or student organization account code. • Allow up to three weeks for transfer. • Projects who will be awarded their grants in stages, must submit any required project status updates prior to release of additional stages of funding. • Upon completion of project, any unused TGIF funds must be returned to TGIF.
