NEW BENCHMARK OF SUCCESS: NEW FORD F-SERIES SUPER DUTY LIMITED SETS BAR FOR LUXURY, TECHNOLOGY DALLAS, Sept. 28, 2017 – Ford – America’s truck leader – today pulls the wraps off a new F-Series Super Duty Limited that sets new luxury standards for high-end heavy-duty truckers. With pricing at $87,100, the F-450 Limited delivers technology and comfort previously reserved only in premium flagship sedans, and it’s capable enough to tow more than 30,000 pounds – about the weight of a stealthy Air Force F-35 fighter plane. “The Super Duty lineup is a win for all of our customers, from successful ranchers to contractors to RV owners,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Super Duty Limited is the most luxurious and advanced heavy-duty pickup truck ever created by Ford for those accomplished buyers with an appetite for the high life and the hard-earned dollars to match.” What’s the point?

The F-450 Limited delivers technology and comfort previously reserved only in premium flagship sedans, and it’s capable enough to tow more than 30,000 pounds.

“There are heavy-duty truck customers who need Super Duty-level capability and want true luxury,” Eckert said. “We created this new truck to answer the call for even more premium choices in the Super Duty range as we see more and more truck customers trending to more premium models.” More than 50 percent of the Super Duty lineup’s retail sales this year are highend models – including Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum series. Limited goes even further. “Imagine opening the door to your humidor and sinking into your favorite leather lounge chair – that’s the sensation new Super Duty Limited inspires,” said Ford design manager Aileen Barraza. Custom Camelback two-tone leather seats, premium stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel, armrests and instrument panel, Miko® suede headliner, handfinished dark ash wood trim and special badging set the interior apart. Outside, a special twin-bar satin grille with chrome accents, quad-beam LED lights and satinfinished tailgate appliqué are Limited’s unique calling cards. Each Limited also has a dedicated serial number laser-etched on the center console armrest. Most Super Duty tech ever Beyond the handcrafting, Super Duty Limited comes standard with advanced

and innovative features to get the job done on ranches, in marinas and everywhere in between. This includes: • Class-exclusive high-definition 360-degree camera with Trailer Reverse Guidance • Class-exclusive SYNC® 3 • Class-exclusive BLIS® with trailer coverage • Class-exclusive adaptive cruise control • Class-exclusive adaptive steering • Lane-keeping alert • Forward collision warning with brake support • Class-exclusive flat rear load floor with fold-up locking storage • Class-exclusive quad-beam LED headlamps • Full panoramic moonroof with retractable shade • Heated and ventilated front seats, plus heated rear seats • Leather-trimmed, heated steering wheel Is Ford backing away from heavy-duty truck buyers with fewer greenbacks? No way! Ford has a heavy-duty pickup truck for every customer – from work-ready F-250 XL starting at $32,890 to this top-of-the-line F-450 Limited. Super Duty Limited Crew Cab arrives this winter with Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel V8 across F-250, F-350 and F-450 single- or dual-rear-wheel configurations. media.ford.com

DANICA PATRICK DEBUTS NO. 10 FORD WARRIORS IN PINK FUSION, DRIVING MORE GOOD DAYS FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS thrills and challenges.

DOVER, DE., Sept. 29, 2017 – Danica Patrick is driving the No. 10 Ford Warriors in Pink Fusion race car this weekend in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Apache Warrior 400 at Dover International Speedway. The debut of the special Warriors in Pink livery for Sunday’s race comes just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month, and marks Ford’s decades-long commitment to raising awareness and funds in the fight against the disease. Patrick will take to the track again with the Warriors in Pink Fusion Oct. 8 for the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

To empower people to take action and support their loved ones, Ford Warriors in Pink launched its More Good Days initiative in 2015. Since then, the program has delivered more than 80,000 More Good Days experiences across the country – ranging from rides to treatment centers to special patient surprises including racing lessons and more.

Patrick’s No. 10 race car displays the warrior symbol to honor the powerful, courageous women and men engaged in the fight against breast cancer. Symbols are a key part of the inspirational message Ford Warriors in Pink represents – serving to uplift those who exhibit strength and courage in the face of their greatest battle. “The Ford Warriors in Pink race car really looks great,” said Patrick, one of the most successful women in the history of motorsports now driving for Stewart-Haas Racing. “Cancer impacts all of us. I bet there are very few people out there who don’t know someone impacted by breast cancer. My friend had a double mastectomy as a preemptive strike because she actually tested positive for the breast cancer gene. She went through everything and hopefully avoided it, but it hit close to home.

“If we all work together, we can help make a difference,” Patrick added. “Whether it’s starting a conversation or inspiring donations, every little bit helps. That’s why I’m proud to drive the Warriors in Pink Fusion to help raise awareness for the cause.” Driving More Good Days As a preview to marking Breast Cancer Awareness month, Patrick helped kick things off with Ford Warriors in Pink by surprising patients with racing lessons at Chicagoland Speedway Sept. 20. These special events being held across the country are designed to help tap into a newfound fearlessness patients and survivors tend to experience by giving them free access to engage in new

The New Nissan Leaf - What to Expect

With electric cars becoming more mainstream and common, it’s not hard to imagine that Nissan wanted to really knock one out of the park with a redesign on their mildly popular all electric car. The original Leaf was unique looking but still had that “futuristic look” that only so many people actually like. The interior also looked borrowed from a Honda Civic, with the use of a two tiered tach/speedo. The price was also moving into the Maxima range, for not that much included in the price. Thankfully for the next Nissan Leaf they really listened to everything people said about the current Leaf (good and bad) and came up with what you see as the new Nissan Leaf. The new Nissan Leaf will come with an entire arsenal of tech that they call “Nissan Intelligent Driving”. Along with all the normal sensors that are available today, Nissan has what they call “Nissan ProPILOT”. This is the next step of a type of cruise control. You can turn this on and not only will it automatically steer the vehicle and keep you centered in the lane, it will also keep pace with the vehicle in front of you. It works with turns, heavy traffic, and normal driving. Talking about stopping, we really need to talk about the automatic brakes. Yup… that’s right, the next Leaf does not need a brake pedal (but still has one)! It’s called the “e-pedal” and it’s really just an electronic gas petal. What it does is when you go to stop and take your foot off the gas; it will automatically turn the car into regen mode and slow the car all by itself gaining the most electricity. The car will then scan the surrounding road and stop right where you need. If it doesn’t sense anything, it will slowly come to a stop after releasing the brake. At this point in time, I’m like all of you and extremely skeptical. I really need to get in a new Leaf and play around with it. As for some of the vehicle specs: it comes with 147hp (all electric obviously) so you get 100% of torque instantly. With an electric car, you can literally spin the tires from a light; you will just use all your electricity sooner. The 110kw electric motor and a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery means you can go 150 miles on one charge. Electric cars aren’t everyone’s thing, but every year we start going closer and closer to all hybrid cars. Chevy just announced that by 2023 they want to change out all gas and diesel engines with electric and Hydrogen. Nissan was the first manufacturer to bring a cheaper offering if you wanted an “all electric” vehicle without spending a ton of money on something like a tesla. Ford is even slowly changing all their vehicles (including Mustang and Trucks) with hybrids of some kind. I actually drive a plug-in hybrid (if you remember my past articles) the car is really a conversation piece. My nephew Dallas thinks that his Uncle Jason drives a spaceship from Star Wars. It’s really that funny when you’re at a light and you are dead silent and take take off faster than the other cars with no noise at all. Not to mention if you have a plugin hybrid or electric car you get tax breaks and even a “green EZPass” that gives you some discounts on tolls.

Whether you love or hate electric vehicles, they are coming. The problems surrounding electric vehicles (mostly range) will get better with the release of better batteries and more efficient electric motors. Soon we might be looking back laughing about how we drove those noisy cars for all those years.

Just imagine the toll that it would take on you financially, physically, and emotionally. Where would you go? What would you do? How would you cope? Who would help you? Since 2007, the Displaced Homemakers Program of Ocean County has been helping individuals who have lost their primary source of income, showing them how to become financially self-sufficient by providing training and assistance in finding employment. With offices on the Ocean County College Main Campus in Toms River, the program is managed by Ocean County College’s Counseling and Student Development Services, and is funded through a grant from the New Jersey Division on Women, Department of Children and Families.

Displaced homemakers are typically women of various ages who span a wide range of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, and who must obtain or upgrade their skills for transition into the paid labor market. As a displaced homemaker, you may even be working but are underemployed. Through support, counseling, and training, the Displaced Homemakers Program can assist you in working toward reaching your full potential. Program services are intended to enhance employability and earnings, and to impact positively on the quality of life for the displaced homemaker and the entire family.

Services include career, employment, and life counseling; connection to social and community organizations; assistance with the job search; and help with becoming economically self-sufficient. Other available services include academic advising, educational and training opportunities, career planning, pre-employment counseling and training, health and wellness programs, supportive counseling, self-esteem and confidence building, and information and referrals to community resources and social services.

So, if you have lost your major source of financial support because of death, disability, separation, or divorce, Displaced Homemakers may be able to help. If you are emotionally or vocationally unprepared to enter the job market or need additional training or education, the Displaced Homemakers Program is here for you. For additional information on the Displaced Homemakers Program of Ocean County, located at Ocean County College, call 732-255-0400, ext. 2297.

pre dictions for 2017’s biggest Halloween costumes Halloween is approaching. To predict what the top costumes will be this year, Pinterest and the fashion search platform Lyst combined analytical forces. Across the two platforms’ pool of 210 million monthly users, they analyzed search data and the looks users saved to come up with their best bets for which getups will be most popular around the world (though obviously these insights are more applicable in countries that celebrate Halloween and dress up for it, such as the US and Canada). The fantasies we will indulge in when we play dress-up for one night at the end of October are revealing. They arguably serve as a window into our collective psyche, and what we see through that window in 2017 is in some ways predictable, in other ways befuddling. Here are the top Halloween costumes of 2017, as predicted by Lyst and Pinterest: 1. Pennywise, the clown from It “Pinterest saves for clown make-up and costume ideas are up 941%” year-overyear, the report notes. The new adaptation of Stephen King’s It has been a blockbuster success, so it’s not surprising that Lyst is also seeing a rise in searches for shirts with exaggerated, ruffled shoulders, and clownish pom-pom sneakers.

2. The kids from Stranger Things

Scary costumes are, of course, the mainstay of Halloween. They’re a way to take what frightens us and make it fun— and there’s a lot in the world to be afraid of right now. Clowns have always been the stuff of nightmares, and they’re a go-to analogy in scary political times.

FALL 2017

Last year, everyone wanted to be Eleven from Netflix’s tween mashup of sci-fi and horror tropes. The show returns for its second season on Oct. 27, just days before Halloween, giving Pinterest and Lyst reason to believe it will be a major costume inspiration again. Pinterest saves on Stranger Things images are up 40-fold, and this time it looks like the boys will be popular costumes too, as suggested by a bump in searches for trucker hats and 1980s t-shirts. 3. Belle from Beauty and the Beast In spring, when La La Land and Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast hit theaters, searches spiked for yellow dresses like those worn by the female leads, according to the report. Tiered yellow gowns like Belle’s became a trend in prom dresses, too, and pins of Beauty and the Beast characters have jumped 680% on Pinterest.

4. A giraffe Say what now? “While sexy cat remains a classic Halloween outfit choice, the giraffe looks set to be this year’s must-have Halloween costume,” the report states. Searches for “giraffe print” are up 27% since June on Lyst, and Pinterist pins of giraffe makeup and costume images are up 1,200% versus this same time last year. It seems clear what’s going on here. We are running out of animals to make sexy. 5. Wonder Woman Searches for “red corset” are up 115% year-over-year on Lyst, while Pinterest users currently have more than 230,000 Wonder Woman costume ideas saved. The impact of the hugely successful Wonder Woman movie in June is obvious. 6. Characters from Game of Thrones If you’ve already had enough of people dressing up like Daenerys Targaryen from HBO’s ratings steamroller, maybe you should stay inside this Halloween. Searches on Lyst for Grecian gowns are up 30%, and hundreds have been skipping style descriptions altogether and just looking for “Daenerys.” Meanwhile, Pinterest saves for “Jon Snow” are up 280% versus last year, suggesting you’ll see more of the bastard king of the North this year. (Spoiler: He’s not

really a bastard anymore.) It’s not a terrible shock that a show with elaborate costuming that happens to be one of the biggest things on TV is a Halloween inspiration. This is perfect escapist-fantasy material: Women can feel glamorously powerful as Daenerys; men get to be sensitive tough guys as Jon. (A helpful hint for them: Those gnarly Night’s Watch capes are actually IKEA rugs.) 7. A Baywatch babe The reboot of the franchise was widely panned by critics, but apparently that hasn’t stopped people from wanting to dress like a lifeguard. Baywatch-related costume ideas have grown 147% on Pinterest versus last year. What motivates people to wear a skimpy red bathing suit outside as a costume in late October? It’s probably not a devotion to coastline safety. We just hope the collective psyche brings a coat. 8. A hippie Lyst says it’s seeing items such as round sunglasses and flower crowns selling out, and “hippie outfit” ideas are up 130% on Pinterest. While hippies are perennial costume fodder, this surge in popularity also coincides with the rise of the Silver Lake shaman. Wellness-loving LA hippies are the new Brooklyn hipsters, and those teashades might not just be for Halloween. 9. A unicorn The unicorn trend has been growing for years. The mythical beast is no longer just a single-horned horse. Its Instagramfriendly swirl of sparkles, pinks, and blues is coloring everything from makeup to Starbucks Frappucinos. Unicorns were the top saved costume on Pinterest last year. This year, queries including the term “unicorn” are up 110% year-over-year on Pinterest, and up 130% on Lyst since May. “Unicorn headbands are the most wanted unicorn fashion product globally right now,” the report says. 10. A mermaid Pinterest users have saved more than 1.4 million images of “mermaid leggings,” and Lyst users have searched for the term 8,000 times per month since July. Closely related to unicorns—aesthetically and philosophically, if not zoologically— mermaid products are shiny, colorful, and a long-tailed trend across beauty, clothes, and food (see mermaid toast). They’re similarly about giving yourself up to a world where all things are multicolored, magical, and really pop on a phone screen. - Source: https://qz.com

The FoodBank is Now...

Fulfill

“We changed our name because we are doing more and invite our neighbors and partners to mobilize and engage in the many hungerfighting services that help shorten the food line and add to the bottom line of families in need.”

Congratulations Southern Regional Girls Volleyball on winning the 2017 Southern Regional Girls Volleyball Invitational defeating Donovan Catholic in the finals 2-1. The Rams also defeated Jackson Liberty in the semi-finals by a score of 2-0. Special congrats to our Senior Class; Lauren, Morgan, Jenna & Cali!

Official launch of the new brand took place at Neptune headquarters in May and included signage unveiling, a press conference and a lively parade on the premises, complete with trucks, volunteer walkers, and the Neptune High School Marching Band! The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties announced it is now doing business as Fulfill to communicate the many ways we are working to end hunger in the community. “We changed our name because we are evolving and invite our neighbors and partners to mobilize and engage in the many hungerfighting services that help shorten the food line and add to the bottom line of families in need. Because ending hunger in our community is a complex challenge, it takes a comprehensive approach to provide the resources people need to maintain active, healthy lifestyles,” says Carlos Rodriguez, Executive Director. Fulfill programs include nutritious food distribution, kids’ feeding programs, mobile and pediatric pantries, free tax preparation,

SNAP and healthcare enrollment assistance, and culinary job training and placement. Hunger in Monmouth and Ocean Counties is no longer a crisis that can be remedied with emergency food alone. Fulfill distributes more than 12 million meals to 132,000 people, including 40,000 children in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, and partners with more than 300 feeding programs that include food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and group homes – and 95 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to those in need. Fulfill receives a 4-star, highest ranking on Charity Navigator. Fulfill operates in two locations: 3300 Route 66 in Neptune and at The B.E.A.T. Center, 1769 Hooper Avenue in the Silverton Plaza Toms River. Mobilize the community with us and learn more about how to get help, give help, take a tour or partner with Fulfill at www.fulfillnj.org or call 732-918-2600. Congratulations Southern Regional Girls Volleyball on defeating Central Regional 2-0 on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Super Bowl III, Game 6 1986 World Series, Sir Roger Bannister breaking the four minute barrier, Mr. October, Causeway Family of Dealerships winning the 2017 Ocean First Wiffle Ball World Championship of the World. These are just a few days that are embedded in the sports enthusiast’s mind. Facing perennial powerhouse Woodhaven Lumber in game one Causeway squeaked out a 9-7 victory behind Julian Cimino who paced Causeway with five runs batted in, also chipping in and going 2 for 2 with a leadoff triple- Charlie Coopey. Game 2 was another Causeway victory in a defensive struggle led by the gold glove defense of Chad Scanlon, Nicky Cirone and a couple timely hits from John “Big Cat” Catalano. Facing three- time defending champion Lakewood Blue Claws team in game three Causeway struggled to a 12-2 defeat, the lone bright spot being Cono Cirone with a two run homerun over the high porch in left center. In a pivotal game 4 matchup, Causeway bounced

back from its first defeat with a big 10-6 victory to ensure a spot in the championship game, Rob Matthews, Mike Haines and Ryan Ehrhart led a balanced offensive attack with two hits apiece. In the final Causeway faced 5-0 and three time defending champion Lakewood Blue Claws, Vegas had causeway as a four run underdog in the one inning affair; some sports books had it has high as 5.5 runs. Hitting first as the visitor, Causeway surprised many in attendance with an offensive barrage scoring five runs and taking the wind out of Lakewood’s sail, but you never feel safe against an offensive juggernaut the likes of the Blue Claws. Down to the second- to- last batter and the game on the line, Frank Fucci made what turned out to be the play of tournament, tracking to his right on a high fly ball that was caught in the tricky winds of First Energy Park, Fucci was able to make the play on the track to secure the victory!

The 16th Annual Honda Battle of the Bands Returns to Rock Atlanta Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB) will make its highly-anticipated return to Atlanta on January 27, 2018, when eight marching bands from the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) take the field to dazzle fans with their music, choreography and pageantry.

The polls are now open for the public to vote for their favorite marching bands to perform in the 16th annual HBOB Invitational Showcase. Beginning today, fans can visit http://www.hondabattleofthebands. com/the-bands and vote daily to help select the eight bands that will perform at the 2018 Invitational Showcase. Voting will close on Friday, October 20 at midnight Eastern.

It is a culture that impacts and inspires far beyond its community. In addition to music education, HBOB celebrates everything from the rich history and traditions of HBCUs to the life-long connections that fuel future leaders. In the last two years, the HBOB Invitational Showcase has attracted a combined audience of nearly 120,000 fans via the live show and online livestream. First Responder receives a 2018 Hyundai Elantra at Baytown Hyundai for his contributions to the community after Hurricane Harvey.

BAYTOWN, Texas, Sept. 25, 2017 – Today, Hyundai marked its 3-millionth Elantra sold in the United States by commemorating the achievement of one brave individual in Baytown, Texas, a city near Houston severely impacted by flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Henry Rogers, Paramedic Field Supervisor for Acadian Ambulance, was on the front lines facing the destructive force of Hurricane Harvey by helping, and saving lives of, the most vulnerable for more than 48 hours despite leaving his family and home alone during the storm. While performing his call of duty and rescuing several victims, Henry’s wife was left to care for their three adopted children and three dogs. When the flooding waters began to enter their home, Mrs. Rogers was forced to place all three children and their dogs on the dining room table and seek help. A neighbor rescued their children and two dogs but when it came to rescue Henry’s wife, the water was too high. Mrs. Rogers spent the night on the dining room table with their German shepherd as they waited for help. Henry was finally able to come home and rescue his wife and dog the next afternoon. Their home and all belongings were devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
