it all. We spent the night there, linked up with my son and the next morning headed for Mecca. It was cold as hell and my son had an extra mask he gave to Epa. It was a black metal and leather wedge that made him look like “Hannibal Lector”. It was scary and when he said “Nice Trailer, Pussy”, it made it even funnier. We made it to Daytona safely, unpacked the bikes and our first event on the schedule was the FL Full Throttle “Crazy As It Gets Party”. We were joined by my brother, who always spreads good cheer. It was a good party but The Carolinas’ Full Throttle parties harder! We hung as long as we could, but they were playing adult games with a toilet plunger and a roll of toilet paper, so I got Epa outta there before he got in trouble. The rest of the weekend we spent doing the typical Daytona stuff. We drank a lot of beer, many toasts, and a lot of camaraderie. Friday we had a visit from our mutual friend, Jukka, who now lives in Orlando. For this we had to bring out the rum and Coke for old times’ sake. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, we ate more than we drank, so we behaved ourselves. That is until Saturday when we hit Destination Daytona, The Iron Horse, and Main Street 3 (third night in a row). Too many stories to tell, but you can imagine. I wasn’t sure we could give it the hell it deserved at our advanced age, but I think WE raised more hell than I did on my first visit in ‘84. We left Sunday morning. It took a couple of Monster drinks to get back to Fayetteville. We drove straight through and arrived home safe and sound after having cheated death another year. This year was real special. Epa, our Finnish brother, had a great time. He bonded with us like he knew us all our lives. He made his dream come true and we fulfilled our promise to one-day ride to Daytona together. Now he is legend in our family biker folklore. End of story? Not hardly. Plans of Scandinavian bike trips, many toasts, and more cheating death are on the horizon.
