Looking back at the images from the first day of school, who could have known how the last

day of school would actually look? This publication recognizes our traditional year-end events, activities and honors; in addition to acknowledging all the accomplishments and achievements you’ll find on these pages, we celebrate the entire Bishop’s community. Your spirit, perseverance, and willingness to embrace new ways of teaching and learning, to create virtual connection, to continue to serve others—you have answered the call to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly in ways you might not have ever imagined back on August 19, 2019. Here’s wishing you all every possible measure of peace, comfort, hope and joy in celebrating all the good in this 2019-2020 school year.

Cum Laude Society The Cum Laude Society was founded in 1906 to recognize superior academic scholarship in independent schools. While overall academic excellence is the primary qualifier for membership, the Cum Laude Society stresses the importance of excellence, justice and honor in its inductees as well. The Regents of the National Cum Laude Society assume that all students who are inducted will have demonstrated good character and integrity in all aspects of their school life.

Cum Laude Faculty Speech by Emily Smith, faculty member and co-secretary of Bishop’s Cum Laude chapter

I

’ve been thinking a lot about a folktale from my childhood about a poor peasant man who lives in an overcrowded hut with his wife, children and in-laws. He goes to the town rabbi to ask for advice on how to handle all of the yelling and arguing. Over a series of days, the rabbi tells the man to bring all the animals on his small farm into the hut to join his family. Ducks, chickens, goats, a cow. The man considers that the rabbi might be crazy as the hut becomes more crowded and chaotic and just as the man is approaching his limit, the rabbi tells him to let all the animals out of the hut. The poor man finally realizes how peaceful it is to have only his family inside. That despite the arguing and yelling and chaos, it could always be worse. The title of the story, “It Could Always Be Worse,” has become a kind of back beat during the difficult times in my life. It has provided perspective for me during challenging times when I thought there could not possibly be a light at the end of the tunnel; a perspective that has become particularly poignant given the current state of our world. For me, the “it could always be worse” perspective leads me always to my grandparents. They fled Nazi Germany, spent time in Ecuador, learned of the deaths of their families in the camps and finally moved to the United States at the end of the war. They came with nothing and built a life and a family from which three children, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren are descended. When I need to be brave, I think of them. Their story of bravery and sacrifice grounds me in the reality of my own privilege. This is, however, not a story about me, but rather about you. My grandparents are my “bravery barometer;” my “it could always be worse” perspective. But you, the Class of 2020, need look no further than each other for that barometer and perspective. I know this because I have had the privilege to bear witness to your bravery for the past four years. I’ve seen you beat cancer. Looked on as you’ve had season-ending injuries and come back the next year to the field or the court or the pool. I’ve seen you fall in love and have your hearts broken. I’ve seen you make mistakes, own them and ask for forgiveness. I’ve watched as you worried about your families in unimaginable ways. I’ve seen you stand up to injustices and listened to you voice your opinions, even when you knew they wouldn’t be popular. I watched as you started your senior year at a brand new school and looked on as you navigated

changing and evolving friendships. I’ve seen you stare mental illness in the face and tell it that it will not own you. I’ve consoled many of you during ugly cries, only to watch you pick yourselves back up and face the day. I’ve watched from afar as you lived and studied abroad. I’ve seen you navigate foster care and find family in places you never expected. I looked on as you started businesses and fostered your entrepreneurial spirit, taking risks when others were too timid to do so. I’ve seen you come out, and I’ve seen you claim the name and identity that you’d always known was yours. I’ve seen you face racism, sexism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and tell them all that they have no place here. I’ve stood beside you as you rallied for gun reform and walked against hate. I’ve marveled at the way you’ve handled the ramifications of a global pandemic and what it has meant for the senior year celebrations for which you have worked so hard. I’ve seen you love and support each other fiercely, even if it wasn’t always easy, and in recent months, when it couldn’t be in person. But most important, I watched you do the simple but brave thing that is growing up. You walked in the door four years ago as girls and boys and now I find myself saying goodbye to young women and men. Because that’s what we do. What may be hard to see sometimes is that, apart from your family, your teachers are your biggest fans. We cheer for your health and happiness every day. While sometimes we do it courtside, often we’re yelling from the cheap seats. But it doesn’t mean we’re not at the game screaming as loud as we can in the ways we know how. And I’ll tell you what, it’s a pretty good life getting to watch that game every day. I wouldn’t trade it in a million years. I am profoundly proud of what you have done during your time “I’ve marveled at the at Bishop’s and know that you way you’ve handled will continue to do extraordinary the ramifications of things after you’ve moved on. a global pandemic It has been my honor to be a small part of all you have and what it has meant accomplished, but most for the senior year importantly, you should be so celebrations for which incredibly proud of yourselves. you have worked I’m sending so much love and so hard.” congratulations to you all, and best wishes for all that lies ahead.

Cum Laude Student Speech by Julia Chen ’20

I

remember the first day I knew I didn’t want the Bishop’s experience. My older sister graduated from here in 2011. Sitting through her Academic League competitions, Awards Days, Cum Laude ceremony and graduation, I was always a proud younger sister, but I never wanted to step on the same stages as her. I didn’t think I was capable of it, and it scared me that people would only ever remember her shadows in the places I wanted to be. So watching her walk across that makeshift stage on the Quad to accept her diploma, I decided I didn’t want Bishop’s. Three years later, when I was accepted for the seventh grade, my parents made the choice to enroll, not me. Had it been up to me, I would be a senior at La Jolla High right now. That way, I thought, at least I was guaranteed to live my own experience, not a less impressive version of my older sister’s. Ninth through twelfth grade, we spend over 4,000 hours in school, an astronomical portion of time that I had originally boiled down in my mind to something resembling a simple resume: number of extracurriculars, number of awards, number of APs, GPA. As a 12-year-old deciding where I wanted to spend the next six years of my life, this was the image of Bishop’s that scared me. Or more accurately, the fear of failure had scared me. I felt as if my entire experience “Let yourself figure out would be defined by the exactly what you fear most one impossible task of and then choose the path living up to my sister. Given that’ll immerse you in it. that all I’d seen of Bishop’s were her joys and successes, Lean into fear. it’s actually somewhat No one will deny that logical that this was all I life is unpredictable, associated the School with. so chances are, the scary There was no way for me possibility will end up to know about everything surprising you; either you else: the classes I’d love, unexpectedly succeed, or the teachers I’d meet and you meet disappointment the friends I’d make. All I had was fear. but maybe discover I didn’t know it then, but an opportunity.” I can say it confidently now: I should’ve trusted that fear.

4

My sister had shown me that Bishop’s was an environment with the potential for the best high school experience possible, and I was terrified of not achieving that, of being a failure. But I think that being a failure is impossible. Although failing is very real, being a failure is impossible because if you fail at one thing, there are a million other things to try. And if you fail at those too, trust me, there are still many other possibilities out there. I can’t remember the first day I knew I loved Bishop’s, the first day I stopped looking for my sister’s footsteps all over campus and started making my own paths instead. Whenever it was, that was the day I thankfully failed to live up to my sister’s Bishop’s experience, but succeeded in making my own. I have a lot of people to thank, but the biggest thanks go to my parents for enrolling me at Bishop’s. They pushed me into my fear of failure, without which I would’ve never achieved the greatest success of my life that has been the last six years at this School. At 18 years old, I don’t have much authority to give advice, but I’d like to offer the best of what I know. Let yourself figure out exactly what you fear most and then choose the path that’ll immerse you in it. Lean into fear. No one will deny that life is unpredictable, so chances are, the scary possibility will end up surprising you; either you unexpectedly succeed, or you meet disappointment but maybe discover an opportunity. The only certainty within uncertainty is that you come out of it for the better, even if it’s not in the way you imagined. And being unsure of what the end of our time at Bishop’s will look like, the strongest message I want to convey right now is thank you. Thank you to my classmates for making me scared that I’ll never find a more talented, kind, intelligent group of people than you all. Thank you to my teachers for making me scared that my college professors won’t be able to compare to the relationships I’ve formed here. Thank you to Bishop’s for making me scared to leave all these amazing memories behind and, by virtue of this trepidation, also making me all the more confident that the Class of 2020 is incredibly prepared for whatever comes next year, as we’ll lean into fear, fail at some things and succeed at more.

Awards Day Each year the School recognizes the hard work, commitment and talents of our students at the Awards Day Ceremony.

ATHLETICS Jerry Coleman Athletic Leadership Award Alex-Rose Molinar ’20 Leadership is the ability to motivate others toward a common goal. Alex-Rose has done this with her teams, class council and Head Ambassador roles. In her three years of varsity basketball she led by example every day. Alex-Rose was a cross country team captain for three years, and she was awarded the Sportsmanship Award at the CIF Finals twice. In softball, she was an All-League selection three times and was named Coastal League Player of the Year. Her athletic abilities are impressive, but her humble, selfless actions on and off the field mean more. Loyal and committed, she is always the first player to pick up her teammates with a high five and encouraging words. Alex-Rose is leaving Bishop’s a better place because of her leadership.

Jerry Coleman Athletic Leadership Award Dash Tsai ’20 With quiet determination and confidence, Dash has been a leader on the basketball court and lacrosse field, serving as captain on both teams. A selfless athlete, he prioritizes the team above all else. Always consistent, Dash slowly but surely evolved into one of the best lacrosse players in the county over his four years at Bishop’s. He often lulled his defenders into underestimating him. Using his size and speed to his advantage, those unsuspecting defenders would quickly realize their mistake. His leadership, integrity and commitment on and off the field are exceptional. He was a Second Team All-Coastal Conference player his junior year and certainly would have been a first-team selection this year. All of his coaches will miss Dash dearly.

Cindy Groenendyke Sportsmanship Cup Courtney Anderson ’20 Courtney is a field hockey and lacrosse team captain, a 10-time varsity letter recipient, a lacrosse First Team All-Coastal Leaguer, an Academic All-American and was recently named to the U.S. Adrenaline West Coast All-American Team. The list goes on, but as impressive as her athletic resume is, it does not reflect the true impact Courtney has made. She is a great athlete, without question. Being a great athlete is about enhancing natural giftedness with hard work. Being a leader is different. It is about goodness and humility, a willingness to sacrifice for a greater good. Courtney is a leader. She does whatever it takes to make her teams and teammates the best they can be. She is their greatest cheerleader and delights in team success more than individual accomplishment. Her teams and her coaches will miss her something fierce next year.

Cindy Groenendyke Sportsmanship Cup Charlie Mossy ’20 Charlie is exceptional in many aspects of school life. A captain of the football and lacrosse teams, he has successfully led his peers with humility, kindness and a desire to be the best. Being recognized twice as an All-Coastal League Defensive Player and as the 2019 Coastal League Defensive Player of the Year are just a few of his many football accomplishments. As a lacrosse player, he earned All-League honors twice in his four years. Charlie earned nine varsity letters during his four years at Bishop’s, leading his teams to one CIF championship, one Southern California Championship and California state runners up. His most impressive attribute is his ability to bring others together. As a member of Peer Support, he is constantly putting others’ needs before his own and always doing so with a smile. Bishop’s Athletics—and the School as a whole—will not be the same without Charlie.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AWARDS Jean Lindsley Award Ben Hollingshead ’24 The Jean Lindsley Award was created by the Parents’ Association to honor a beloved former Bishop’s life science teacher. A student presented this award demonstrates the qualities that endeared Mrs. Lindsley to all who knew her: honesty, curiosity, thoughtfulness, generosity of spirit, genuine concern for others, integrity and enthusiasm for embracing new ideas and experiences. In the classroom, Ben is simply stellar, with a positive and mature attitude that is contagious. He is also unfailingly kind and respectful to all members of the Bishop’s community, making him a fantastic student, teammate and friend. Outside the classroom, he is a very talented performing artist, athlete and CyberPatriot. What is perhaps most impressive is his charisma and strength of character. It is with great honor that the middle school faculty present the Jean Lindsley Award to Ben.

Leslie Sissman Evans Award Serena Zhang ’24 The Leslie Sissman Evans Award honors a former middle school head who was at Bishop’s for 37 years. This award is given to the student who, while excelling in scholarship and extracurriculars, has most clearly demonstrated the qualities of good citizenship and concern for others. Serena is an incredibly talented and kind-hearted student who is a voracious learner and who brings joy to all her endeavors. She carries compassion, intellectual curiosity and leadership to her many varied pursuits while always supporting and encouraging others. She leads by example and the middle school faculty anticipate her positive influence expanding even further in upper school and beyond! It is with great honor that the middle school faculty present the Leslie Sissman Evans Award to Serena.

SERVICE LEARNING Carol Lattimer Community Service Scholarship Award Miles McInerney ’20 Since 2016 Miles has consistently served at the Vida Joven orphanage in Tijuana. He has dedicated many hours to sharing quality time with the children: doing crafts, playing soccer, taking pictures, reading books or just spending time together. He deeply cares about these kids and understands that they want and need that human connection. He spent a lot of time recruiting other Bishop’s students to share this experience with him. Every time he crosses the border he immerses himself in this work. Thank you, Miles, for your commitment!

The Robert Wolterstorff Community Service Award Meghan Behr ’20 Meghan’s passion for service is at the forefront of everything she does. A member of MADCAPS for six years, she has worked with St. Paul’s Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides food, medical care, transportation and entertainment for seniors. Through Therapeutic Recreation Services she assists disabled children and adults in water sports such as paddle-boarding, kayaking and surfing. She has played a critical role in the on-campus service programs and will continue to serve others long after she leaves Bishop’s. We honor Meghan for her commitment to service and for finding purpose in everything that she does.

The Robert Wolterstorff Community Service Award Sarina Krishnan ’20 Sarina takes all of her passions and ties them into service. As founder and president of Pathways to Assimilation, a non-profit organization that provides refugees with resources crucial to assimilation in the United States, she has helped teach Syrian refugees English, as well as life skills and general awareness of the American culture. Sarina is vice president of another non-profit using 3D printing technology to provide free prostheses and assistive devices to animals. She also volunteers and tutors underprivileged youth in piano, dance and academics. Sarina plays a critical role in service at Bishop’s, and we’re thankful for her passion to serve others who need it most.

Gabe Worstell ’20 There are few things which this man would balk at taking on, such is the fierce strength of his passion for performing. With perpetually inspiring energy, Gabe imbues those around him with the knowledge that their risks are not only welcome and encouraged, but necessary for fine art. While a powerful example of a leading man, his presence onstage is inviting, and his craft creates the space for his peers to explore and discover their own. Though this year has placed monumental demand on him, he leapt into it with a steady and enthusiastic determination that never failed to impress. With every production and performance, he invests all of himself in every element from the first rehearsal to closing night.

Sydney Gerlach ’20 In an age of increasing competition, countless resources and unending distraction, it is a pleasant surprise to find an artist so committed to improving both her craft and the community as Sydney is. To be around her is to know the intensity, drive and humility infused with every breath she puts into the success of every role and production. From extensive dramaturgy to hours of independent rehearsals to tenacious self-investigation in and out of the theater, her work exemplifies a passion for the art at times daunting, at others quiet, but always inspiring. Sharing the stage with her, her peers discover nuance, depth and joy because of the creative environment she engenders through sheer will and kindness. The ownership and love she exudes elevates the room and guarantees that the work to follow will be authentic, moving and professional.

Joelle has given her time and talent constantly and quietly behind the scenes; not seeking the spotlight for herself, but always working to make the ensemble stronger. She is a quiet strength in her section, solidly supporting her peers with a crystal clear soprano voice. An amazing pianist in her own right, she has shared the bench with our new accompanists, Adam and Spencer, as well as our very own Mr. J., and Joelle offered to step in and take on the work of learning the music for any piano playing we needed after his passing. We are thrilled to present the Louise Carmon Award Endowed Choral Music Award to Joelle.

Judith M. Haxo Award

Elizabeth Jin ’24

A true Renaissance man, Miles pursues a litany of interests including rowing, ethnic food, world languages, vexillography and Kendrick Lamar’s music with joy and curiosity. He has invited peers and faculty alike to join him for visits to a Tijuana orphanage; he is a published poet; he is an avid Chelsea Football Club supporter; he asks, “How are you?” and genuinely cares about the response. It is for his rich creativity, his generous engagement with the Bishop’s community and the playful open-mindedness with which he encounters new ideas and concepts that we honor him with this year’s Judith M. Haxo Award.

Visual Arts Department Award – Upper School Sabrina Tian ’20

The Carl Saunders ’98 Visual Arts Award Sora Haagensen ’20 This award recognizes a student who has made a commitment to artistic growth. Sora loves to make art. Often drawing inspiration from science fiction, her creativity has brought up questions about things real and imagined. Her sculptures and drawings are dream-like and realistic at the same time. Her senior exhibition was authentically reflective of her art practice and hard work. We appreciate Sora’s presence, support and care for the visual arts at Bishop’s.

Miles McInerney ’20

The Richard and Margaret Pharr Award Alex-Rose Molinar ’20 Some people are inherently talented; others strive relentlessly to improve their skills. Alex-Rose does both—academically, athletically and socially. One of the first students to arrive at Bishop’s daily despite a long commute, she was selected by her teammates as captain for multiple years in two sports, effectively serving as a mediator between her peers and coaches. A curious student who has extensively studied both Chinese and Spanish, she frequently represents the School as a Head Ambassador. Selfless, humble and mature, she has made Bishop’s a better place and community, and we are proud to honor her with The Richard and Margaret Pharr Award.

The President’s Award Dhruvi Banerjee ’21 To know this award recipient is to know pure joy, an infectious smile and genuine care for others. Dhruvi inspires others to be better, because he sees the best in everyone. The consummate teammate in the classroom and on the soccer field, he is everyone’s cheerleader, yet he holds others accountable as he expects to be held. As a member of the Discipline Committee, Dhruvi is a voice of empathic reason. Never self-serving, it’s only fitting that this young man desires to serve our country in the next phase of his life. It is our pleasure to award Dhruvi with The President’s Award.

Baccalaureate Baccalaureate Address Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego

C

ongratulations to The Bishop’s School Class of 2020 for doing the challenging work of education at a school that has always asked you to bring your best to learning and growing. I know this is not the graduation season you’ve anticipated: you were looking forward to end-of-year celebrations, to the triumphal culmination of your extracurricular activities, and to walking across that stage and receiving your diploma. None of those traditions will happen quite as you expected. I know that’s a disappointment. And it’s not fair. Yet the fact remains that you have done the hard work of becoming adults. You’ve studied hard, and you’ve thought about how to make a positive difference in the world, and what it means to do justice, and love kindness and walk humbly with your God. You’ve contemplated compassion, integrity, inclusion and justice and incorporated those values into your lives. And oh, how those values are needed right now. You are graduating in a time of isolation, pandemic, economic hardship and polarization, when the future seems uncertain and society is frightened and fragmented. The values of caring for others, exercising justice and practicing integrity are exactly what our world needs to get through this crisis. Because those are the values that will help us become a just, compassionate world and address the challenges we face: public health, economic opportunity and every person’s right to thrive. John F. Kennedy was the first U.S. president from “The Greatest Generation,” and in 1961, he said: “The torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage.”

20

You are a new generation born 100 years later, in the 21st century, and while I hope you will not be tempered by war or disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, I believe that your generation will help us overcome the many challenges facing our world. Members of your generation have already shown amazing leadership, like Greta Thunberg in the struggle against climate change and the students who led the March For Our Lives. The great strength of your generation is that you call us to work together to overcome the challenges that threaten the human race. And it’s possible that painful as it is, this current time of isolation may help you build the kind of leadership our world needs right now. This time of solitude may allow you to draw on the inner strength described in Psalm 46 when, in the midst of world crisis and tumult, God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” Sometimes it is stillness, even disappointment, that leads us to new insights that change the world. After all, the message of the cross is that God is with us even in our disappointment, isolation and suffering. And the message of the resurrection is that even though our suffering is real, God’s love wins. So as you move into this new world of adulthood, with your years at The Bishop’s School behind you, know that, as Jesus says, “You are the light of the world.” You are a generation that brings our world hope. Tempered by hardship, disciplined by a clear focus on the challenges our world needs to overcome, I pray and believe that you will lead our world into a new era of compassion, prosperity and justice for all. Scripture references in Bishop Snook’s address include Psalm 46, Micah 6:6-8, Philippians 4:4-9 and Matthew 5:1-16.

Commencement Awards A Message for Seniors from Head of School Ron Kim

MICHAEL TEITELMAN LOYALTY AWARD Eliana Petreikis ’20 Eliana’s joyful disposition lends energy and excitement to whatever group with which she is interacting. She is intentional about cultivating strong, supportive relationships with her peers, teachers and coaches, and she hasn’t met a club, organization or team she is afraid of joining. She is the chief of staff for ASBC, leads our Multiracial Student Group, serves as editor-in-chief for Quanta and was selected by her teammates to captain the JV field hockey team this year. Her deep sense of curiosity about the people and places she encounters, as well as her willingness to try new things, make her a joy to work with. We are pleased to honor Eliana with the Bishop’s Loyalty Cup.

ongratulations, seniors, on your graduation from The Bishop’s School. You chose a path that demanded hard work, commitment and sacrifice, and we honor all that you have done that brought you to this day. While The Bishop’s School has existed since 1909, each year and each graduating class is distinct. The identity of the School has been shaped and re-created by what you have done, by the relationships that you formed and by the legacy that you leave behind. We hope that this publication offers a meaningful reflection of your individual and collective experiences, and that you will return to its pages in future years to remember all of the classmates who made the Class of 2020 special. We wish for you a life of courage, confidence and hope.

BISHOP’S MEDAL Tim Kelly ’20 The recipient of the Bishop’s Medal is a complex young man. Tim is provocative yet compassionate. Sincere yet silly. Purposeful yet vulnerable. During his time here at Bishop’s, he has slowly but surely become the voice of the student body. Whether he is sparking controversy in the Daily Urinal or hammering home a point in debate, Tim is unashamed to speak his truth. And while his numerous leadership roles on campus require him to be a strong, visible presence, it’s his work behind the scenes that has truly elevated our institution. For the passion he brings to every part of our community, we are proud to award the Bishop’s Medal to Tim.

BLACK STUDENT UNION – Class of 2020 Members Courtney Anderson Amaan Banks Vanessa Brunetta Clarence Freeman Ki Greene

Kellen Hobson Savannah Maye Mohamed Samb Jaya Travis Caroline Twyman

HEAD OF SCHOOL AWARD Courtney Anderson ’20 This young woman is seemingly omnipresent on campus. She is a vocal leader on three varsity teams, the head of the Black Student Union, and a member of both ASBC and the Discipline Committee. Apart from her extracurriculars, she is deeply invested in learning and growing, and challenging herself and those around her to be better. She knows her own mind but is humble enough to be mentally and emotionally flexible. And, although she has so much to say, she listens, really listens, more than she speaks. She is what we most wish our students to be—independent, good, kind and free-thinking.

Sarahi Castillo ’20 As a Head Ambassador, this student enjoys highlighting support and collaboration at Bishop’s. With the courage to speak up and faith in the good nature of others, she leads on the lacrosse field and in the classroom without judgment. As a leader of the Latin American Student Organization, she’s invited diverse and conflicting opinions into conversation, believing that Bishop’s students are at their best when they are honest, open listeners. Her work translating portions of the Bishop’s website will allow Spanishspeaking families, like hers, to better understand our community. Sarahi, in all that she does, serves the good of humanity and makes the world a more just and compassionate place.

Sydney Gerlach ’20 The eye of a storm perpetually deceives you as to the true nature and power which follows, and we often find people who mimic this calm. Out of sight, they are working feverishly, building a frenzy beneath the surface before emerging—magnificently—with creative and intellectual excellence. Exemplifying this sleight-of-hand, Sydney churns behind the scenes, arriving in a room with tremendous aplomb, razor acumen and an obvious passion which carries everyone around her along for the ride. She is studied in her approach, compassionate with her community, driven to achieve and never fails to surprise with the breadth she accomplishes.

Kellen Hobson ’20 This student has been a shining light at Bishop’s since arriving in middle school. He goes above and beyond as a Peer Support leader and Admissions Head Ambassador, volunteering for almost every student panel or student focus group. He gives his all, without artifice, because he enjoys being a part of something bigger than himself. Whether on the lacrosse field or basketball court, in a Black Student Union meeting, while traveling with classmates to a shelter home in India, or anywhere in between, Kellen’s expressions of gratitude, generous spirit and love for Bishop’s add a little magic to any group he’s in.

Tommy Sottosanti ’20 This young man has a superpower. Tommy excels in class and on the court, and he spearheads two of the largest extracurriculars on campus. With all of this on his plate, he would be well within his rights to bemoan his fate and hope for the earth to slow its rotation, thereby adding a few precious hours to each day. However, Tommy is able to accomplish all of these Herculean tasks with seeming ease. His brilliance and energy challenge those around him to be and do their best. Tommy's innumerable accomplishments, his thoughtful leadership and his generosity of spirit leave an indelible mark on our community.
