DEAR HORNED FROGS FANS,

As pleased as we are of what we have accomplished in competition, we are even more proud of our work in the classroom. In each of the last three semesters, dating back to Spring 2016, our student-athletes have topped a 3.0 gradepoint average for the top-three cumulative GPAs in program history. We graduated 118 student-athletes in just the last year. Included in that total was Rhodes Scholar and football student-athlete Caylin Moore. Our student-athletes truly appreciate the resources and support you provide them. The three highest totals in overall athletics giving at TCU have come in the last four years. In Fiscal Year 2017, we saw a new record-breaking Frog Club Annual Giving total of $13,231,727 with $31,876,783 in overall athletics giving. This revenue is especially significant as it helps us cover rapidly rising financial aid and student-athlete development expenses. Facility upgrades in the last year included a $5 million football office renovation project, which included the opening of the Huffman Football Center. We also refurbished offices in the Schollmaier Basketball Complex as well as installing a new playing field and improved lighting at GarveyRosenthal Soccer Stadium. Everything we do seeks to improve the student-athlete experience. We invested over $1 million in the implementation of a training table for our student-athletes. As part of that process, we hired a nutritionist and chef to ensure healthy diets and proper meals for our student-athletes. The young men and women who wear the Horned Frogs uniforms feed off your passion for them. It was surreal to hear the TCU chants in Madison Square Garden during our NIT championship game. Our annual sea of purple invaded Omaha as our baseball program made its fourth consecutive College World Series appearance. We sold out of football season tickets for

It wasn’t just our current student-athletes making their marks. We also had our Frogs in the Pros representing us well. Jake Arrieta was a key part of the Chicago Cubs winning their first World Series since 1908, while Marcus Cannon started at offensive tackle for the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. We also had LaDainian Tomlinson become the third Horned Frog to be selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We have also been fortunate to assemble an incredible coaching staff. Six of our head coaches (Jamie Dixon, men’s basketball; Karen Monez, rifle; Gary Patterson, football; David Roditi, men’s tennis; Jim Schlossnagle, baseball; Haley Schoolfield, equestrian) have received National Coach of the Year honors. Coach Monez was recognized for the third time this year, while Coach Roditi was selected as the Big 12 Coach of the Year for a third consecutive season. Coach Schlossnagle also achieved a special milestone as he recorded his 600th win at TCU! Our memorable 2016-17 athletics season, as well as our five-year run of success in the Big 12, is captured in this year’s Annual Report. We are proud to share these moments with our TCU family.

Our student-athletes, who work so hard to make you proud, were again at the top of their games. We had a pair of Big 12 track and field champions in Brenley Goertzen (indoor 5,000 meters) and Jalen Miller (outdoor 100 meters). Men’s tennis player Cameron Norrie earned a No. 1 national ranking and was the Big 12 Player of the Year. Overall, we had 24 TCU studentathletes receive All-America recognition in 2016-17.

However, as the front cover and interior pages of this Annual Report show, our success story is not just about this year. It’s been a trend throughout our five seasons in the Big 12.

the fourth time in five seasons, set baseball attendance records at Lupton Stadium and had packed crowds at our soccer and volleyball venues. The Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, in its first full season, produced sellout crowds and had an electric atmosphere for our NIT quarterfinal-round win that sent us to New York City.

What a great time to be a Horned Frog! The 2016-17 athletics season saw us capture Big 12 championships in baseball and men’s tennis, an NIT title in men’s basketball, a national runner-up finish in rifle and have 16 of our 21 sports represented in postseason play.

The 2016-17 Pop Boone Female Athlete of the Year is rifle standout Mindy Miles. In leading TCU to its second consecutive runner-up appearance at the NCAA Championships, she earned three first-team All-America selections. The Weatherford, Texas, native closed the season ranked No. 1 in the nation in air rifle.

The 2016-17 Pop Boone Male Athlete of the Year is men’s tennis player Cameron Norrie. En route to becoming a three-time All-American, the New Zealand native became the first player in TCU history to finish the season ranked No. 1 in singles. He went 21-1 in singles with 19 victories over ranked opponents. He helped lead TCU to back-to-back sweeps of the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles, as well as a 2017 Elite Eight appearance at the NCAA Championships.

The 2016-17 Dutch Meyer Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year is equestrian’s Kari Hancock. The Anchorage, Alaska, native earned her degree in biochemistry. She received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and the Big 12’s Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award. She was also a three-time NCEA Academic First Team honoree in addition to being a twotime first-team All-American in Equitation on the Flat.

The 2016-17 Dutch Meyer Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year is Michael Williams. The San Antonio native and December 2017 graduate was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree. He was a double major in supply chain management and finance and real estate while being an integral part of the men’s basketball program.

Jake Arrieta made four starts in Chicago’s run to the World Series Championship. He went 2-1 during the postseason with a 3.62 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings. In two World Series road starts at Cleveland, Arrieta was 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA in 11 2/3 innings pitched.

TCU football legend LaDainian Tomlinson was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Feb. 4, 2017. Tomlinson became the third Horned Frog enshrined in Canton, joining Slingin’ Sammy Baugh (1963) and Bob Lilly (1980). Tomlinson played 11 seasons (2001-11) in the league and was selected as the 2006 NFL Most Valuable Player. He is the NFL’s fifth all-time leading rusher with 13,684 yards, while his 145 rushing touchdowns place second.

Cameron Norrie (left) became the first TCU player since 1999 to play in the main draw of the Championships at Wimbledon. The Auckland, New Zealand, native became the 10th player in program history to compete in the Wimbledon singles or doubles main. After Wimbledon, Norrie went on to win his first ATP Challenger in Binghamton which earned him 80 ATP points and a spot in the US Open Qualifying draw.

New England’s 34-28 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI gave TCU great and Patriots’ starting offensive tackle Marcus Cannon (below) his second championship ring in the last three seasons. Cannon is one of 19 Horned Frogs to win a title and one of just five to earn multiple Super Bowl championship rings. Overall, Cannon played in his third Super Bowl in six seasons with New England.

Ronnie Baker capped off the indoor season at the USATF Indoor Championships with a national title in the 60m. During the outdoor season, Baker picked up two wins in the 100m at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Prefontaine Classic. In both races, he recorded sub-10 second times, with Baker becoming the seventh Horned Frog to do so.

EXCELLENCE in ACADEMICS 4 - The number of student-athletes who were recipients of the annual Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Big 12 Conference’s highest academic honor. The honorees, who can only be recognized once, must have 100 or more hours of earned credit with a cumulative GPA of 3.8 at the time of the nomination.

347 – Different student-athletes were named to the Big 12 Commissioners’ Honor Roll this year. 3.0 – The departmental GPA at the conclusion of the spring semester. This makes three consecutive semesters TCU Athletics has been over 3.0. 118 – Student-athletes who graduated in the 2016-17 academic year. 57 – Student-athletes who posted a perfect 4.0 semester GPA in the academic year. 129 – Individuals who were named Academic All-Big 12. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team. 222 – Student-athletes earned a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

PURPLE with PURPOSE Student-athletes participating in Purple with Purpose traveled to Panama from May 14-21. While in Panama, they volunteered with an NGO to help paint and renovate a school for children located in the remote Darien Province. They also had a day to interact with TCU alumni living in Panama City before returning to Fort Worth.

TCU Athletics created Purple with Purpose to provide student-athletes a chance to have a global experience. It is nearly impossible for studentathletes to travel and study abroad or participate in an educational exchange program in the same way traditional students do. TCU Athletics believe this fits with the mission at TCU to educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community.

At 38 years, Richard Sybesma was the longest tenured head coach for any sport in TCU history when he announced his retirement in July 2017. Sybesma arrived at TCU in 1979 and guided the Horned Frogs in five different conferences (Southwest, WAC, Conference USA, Mountain West and Big 12) over five decades. The Horned Frogs won seven team conference championships and 16 individual league titles under Sybesma. He produced seven national champions, 18 All-Americans and four Olympians. He is a five-time conference coach of the year. Sybesmaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s impact on the swimming and diving community went beyond TCU and was felt internationally. He was the head coach of the 1996 Nicaraguan Olympic Team in Atlanta. He also conducted swim clinics in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Malaysia in addition to Fort Worth. He was honored nationally with the Master Coach Award in 1992 from the College Swim Coaches Association.

The TCU student body continued to provide the Horned Frogs with a true home-field advantage in the 2016-17 athletics season. In the menâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s basketball NIT quarterfinal-round win over Richmond, which sent the Horned Frogs to New York City, TCU Chancellor Dr. Victor Boschini provided the students with T-shirts, food vouchers and ice cream.

Thanks to a loyal and supportive fan base and fantastic partnerships with IMG College Licensing, Fanatics, IMG College, Sodexo, FOX Sports, and CBS Interactive, TCU Athletics had unprecedented revenue growth during the 2016-17 season. 2016-17 ACCOMPLISHMENTS The Frog Club hosted events full of camaraderie and school spirit throughout the year. Hospitality events and celebrations took place at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis; the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic in Houston; and the College World Series in Omaha. The Frog Club was proud to travel with the Men’s Basketball program to the NIT Championship in New York City! Hundreds of East Coast alumni & fans were able to connect with Horned Frogs and the Frog Club while watching the NIT Championship.

The Frog Club Volunteer Team continues to be a vital aspect of the Frog Club’s success. Volunteer members assisted in more than 60 events and spent 327 hours of their time to help the Frog Club accomplish its mission of studentathlete support.

The Donor Rewards Program experienced unprecedented success during its fourth year of operation. Frog Club members are offered exclusive access to a variety of TCU Athletics events, coaches, and gear. This year’s program was highlighted by the Donor Rewards Pick-A-Gift, where members were able to pick their gift rewards.

Once again, the Frog Club set a high water mark for athletics fundraising during the 2017 fiscal year. For the fifth time in history and the fifth year in a row, the TCU Frog Club covered the entire cost of student-athlete tuition. In addition to covering the scholarship bill for the Horned Frogs, the Frog Club brought in more than $31 million in cash giving to TCU Athletics.

Austin Coaches Night

The Touchdown Club at the Stuart Family Courtside Club was a rousing success during its inaugural football season in 2016. Fans with season football tickets in any location are able to upgrade and take full advantage of the premium offerings provided. The proceeds from the Touchdown Club funded five full athletic scholarships.

TCU Football is a flagship program for the TCU Athletics department. In 2016, TCU embarked on a $5 million project to improve the football coaches offices and team spaces. As the program has grown over the last several years, it became apparent that a new and revamped space was needed to accommodate the growing needs of a top-flight program. With the athletics administration offices moving to the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, the Jane and John Justin Athletic Center could be transformed for the exclusive use of TCU Football.

By adding the additional space, the football program was able to add team spaces including a newly renovated auditorium that seats the entire team, new position rooms, classrooms and recreational areas.

BROWN-LUPTON ATHLETICS ADMINISTRATION OFFICES The last phase of the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena was the completion of the Brown-Lupton Athletics Administration Offices on the second floor. These offices allowed the TCU Athletics staff to be in a central location and created additional meeting spaces for athletics staff and the TCU Football program.

BASKETBALL OFFICES RENOVATION The TCU Basketball Offices renovation located in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Basketball Complex was completed in the summer of 2016. It provides a much needed update to office and coaches meeting spaces, as well as provided a facelift to the entryway of the basketball programs.

The Association hosts an annual golf classic in Houston, along with the Houston Chapter of the Alumni Association. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefits the Lettermen’s Legacy Endowment Fund.

A highlight of the year was the Men’s Basketball Reunion. The weekend event included a meet and greet, golf outing, tour of campus and an alumni basketball game and dinner. What made the event special was welcoming back to campus Lettermen’s Hall of Fame member and new head basketball coach Jamie Dixon. More than 100 alumni and their families attended.

The Lettermen’s Legacy Endowment Fund (LLEF) has surpassed $230,000 in just its fourth year. The LLEF is an annual revenue stream to preserve the association’s past, present and future. The LLEF balance is up to $235,000 and will payout more than $11,000.

Through the Dutch Meyer Scholarship, more than $65,000 in scholarship assistance was awarded to 21 children of Letterwinners in 2016-17.

DAN JENKINS PRESS BOX The press box in Amon G. Carter Stadium was named after Dan Jenkins. A 1953 TCU graduate, Jenkins has brought fame to his alma mater and Fort Worth through his writings and love for the University. The dedication ceremony took place May 30, 2017.
