Kempner High School • Was a three-time letterwinner at Kempner for head coach J.D. Sellers. • Tabbed by Baseball America as the 167th top prospect in the nation and 19th best recruit in Texas. • Inside Prep Baseball also tabbed him as the 19th top high school recruit in Texas. • Selected by Milwaukee in the 37th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. • Earned first-team all-state and all-district honors as a senior. • Named to the Rawlings All-region team. • Also a first-team all-district performer as a junior. • Played in the Area Code games for the Arizona Diamondbacks scout team. • Participated in the Texas Scouts Association games at Minute Maid Park. • Was a second-team all-Houston Area player following his junior campaign. • Named District 23-5A MVP as a junior. • Participated with the 2006 USA Youth National Team that won the Pan Am Championships in Venezuela. • Earned the tournament award for the lowest ERA (1.29). • Selected to play on the Texas Sunbelt Tournament team in 2007. • Named second-team all-district and Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. • Played in the Kyle Chapman All-Star games in 2005, 2006 and 2007. • Tossed a no-hitter in the summer of 2007 at the Perfect Game Wood Bat tournament in Atlanta.
