WELCOME

Welcome

to the annual Billingshurst Village Directory. One of a series of Village Directories in Sussex. This directory is delivered free of charge to every home and business in Billingshurst and the surrounding area. It contains details of the local clubs, societies, churches etc. In fact all the information that is useful to residents. Village Directories keep residents informed, shopping locally and using local services. Our aim is to support the community and the directory devotes 50% of its content free of charge to useful local information. This publication is made entirely possible by local trades and services who advertise. Please make every effort to support them and to mention that you saw the advert in The Billingshurst Village Directory. We will soon have our new website available where this edition will be uploaded. There will be a directory of all the local businesses advertising with us and it will also have all the community information available in an easy to use directory style format. The address is www.villagedirectories.com and the new website will replace the basic website we already have within the next few months. We hope you find the Directory useful and that you keep it to hand for the whole year until the next one arrives. HORTICULTURAL & CONSERVATION CLUBS & SOCIETIES WISBOROUGH GREEN BEE KEEPERS

BILLINGSHURST HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

We are a progressive and friendly group who encourage all those who have an interest in honeybees and hive products, whether they are beekeepers or not. We have a class of membership for those who don’t own bees, but would like to come to meetings and receive our monthly newsletter. Beekeeping has a reputation of being for “older” people, but we are proud of the fact that the vast majority of our newer members are younger people with young families, showing that beekeeping can be a family hobby. We regularly have juniors who attend meetings and handle bees. There are no geographical boundaries and although we are called “Wisborough Green”, many of our members live some distance from Wisborough Green, and some even live in other counties, which is an indication that we provide the services they want.

The Society is more than 120 years old and holds monthly meetings with talks on horticultural subjects, they also have occasional coach outings. Hold a flower show on the third Saturday in August. Annual membership £5 per person, visitors are always welcome. MEET: CONTACT: TELEPHONE:
