Those who can, develop their futures with us. Sussex Coast College Hastings offers Continuing Professional Development to all college staff.

Why should I consider Continuing Professional Development? Continuing Professional Development (CPD ) is a great way for you to keep up to date with your knowledge and skills, discover news ways of working and share best practices. You will be able to work effectively and contribute towards the strategic objectives of the college and the outcomes for our learners. We are committed to the on-going development of all of our staff and regularly review the way training is carried out. We encourage you to take part in identifying your own development needs, and to undertake the relevant learning using the most appropriate methods, and assess the outcome and effectiveness of your training.

So what is Continuing Professional Development? Continuing Professional Development can be undertaken in a number of ways, such as workshops, conferences, events, e-learning programs, best practice techniques, and ideas sharing. It is available to all employees so that they can ‘up skill’ or ‘re-skill’ themselves, regardless of occupation, age or educational level. The college has developed a CPD framework that helps you develop your skills, and meets the strategy and overall aims of the organisation. During your time here you will have regular Performance Management Review (PMR) meetings (mid-year

and end of year), and regular one to one meetings with your manager, where you will be able to identify any development training you need or would like to undertake. Your manager will help to structure your PMR in a fair and transparent way and support you while you develop.

Continuing Professional Development Framework and Performance Management Review Plan You and your line manager can use the framework as a tool in your PMR meeting when reviewing your development for the coming year to: • Identify aspects of professional practice you currently engage in and those where there may be scope for future development • Assist in Professional Development Planning • Discuss possible changes in your job role • Areas for Improvement • Career Aspirations

The Human Resources department manage the framework on a day to day basis, and work closely with the Quality department and Senior Management Team to inform the design, planning, and delivery of staff development activities. The CPD Framework has been split into the four main employee groups: • Managerial Staff • Business Support Staff • Teaching Staff • Teaching Support Staff
