They say success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work gains success. This quote fits perfectly every time I talk about Darb Lall. A personal trainer based out of Surrey who not only has made his own fitness goals come to life but is also helping others to find their calling and become the best, fittest version of themselves.

Darb Lall:

Relentlessly working towards achieving his fitness goals

is no greater feeling than seeing your clients put in that effort to achieve their goals. Therefore, I hope to continue working in this profession for many years to come! SAE Magazine: What are your personal fitness goals? Darb: When I first started working out, my fitness goals were set around how I looked. I trained, ate, and did everything to find a way to look better. I know a lot of people can relate to this. As I’ve matured through life and in the gym, my goals have shifted to be more functional, athletic, and stronger each passing day. I work out anywhere from 5-6 times a week which helps to maintain a healthy body and mind. I find that working out and staying active helps to keep my mental health constantly improving. My long-term fitness goal is to continue to be able to use my body comfortably as I get older.

ailing from a Punjabi family, Darb’s parents immigrated to Canada hoping to find a better life for themselves and their family. He says his sister has been his biggest supporter no matter where he has decided to go in his career.

SAE Magazine: How important do you think customer service is to this job? Darb: I believe customer service is important in any field regardless of the profession. I pride myself at providing exceptional service to my clients by offering workout, cardio, and nutrition plans. I also provide additional support by having daily or weekly check-ins with them. No one wants to workout with a partner who’s boring or talks a lot, so I try to bring as much fun as I can to the session while still making sure the client is getting a good sweat on!

“I want to do my best to leave an impact on the South Asian community when it comes to health and fitness. I understand how hard it can be coming from a Punjabi household trying to maintain a healthy diet and fitness routine. Over the last few years, I have helped many South Asians reach their goals by showing them that they can live a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying their favorite cultural foods”, he said. We asked him a few questions about his own fitness journey and all things fitness. Below are the excerpts from the interview: SAE Magazine: How did your journey in the world of fitness begin? What was the motivation behind it? Darb: Growing up, I’ve always been an active kid playing multiple sports throughout high school. I didn’t take my fitness seriously until I graduated high school as I was in my worst shape both physically and mentally. At the time, I weighed 220 pounds or 100kg which would defeat me mentally every day and I knew I had to make a change. I would skip out on social events because I didn’t like the way I looked, or I would not eat in fear of gaining more weight. I started off in the gym on my own and had

8

no idea what I was doing, which was already a losing battle. I ended up hiring my first personal trainer a year later and it was the best decision I made. It allowed me to feel confident in myself and not only get to my goals but to continue a lifestyle around health and fitness. The motivation behind my transformation came through various avenues. It came when I would look at myself in the mirror and was unhappy with who was looking back or when I would try on clothes that didn’t fit right. The reason I’ve been successful thus far is due to the fact I can relate to my clients. I understand how hard it is to start your fitness journey and to be open about it with someone, which is why I make that process as easy and smooth as possible. Motivation got

me started on my journey, but the relentless mindset of achieving my goals kept me going and continues to do so! SAE Magazine: Why did you become a personal trainer? Darb: Going through my own transformation, both physically and mentally, I wanted to help others in my community do the same. I saw that transforming your mind and body was attainable and I knew I could bring that passion and lifestyle to others. This led me to pursue a career in personal training helping hundreds of people reach their fitness goals over the last six years. I have taken pride in helping others change their lives regardless of gender, size, and fitness goals. There

SAE Magazine: Do you see fitness and technology really making a difference as they come together? Darb: Yes, I see the two sides coming together and so far, they already have been. As soon as you go online, whether it’s social media or Youtube, you’ll see tons of different content about health and fitness. This information can be confusing as it can be hard to tell the difference between good and bad content. I pride myself on educating my clients to understand the difference between good and bad content. Technology has made our lives easier but that’s not a positive thing when it comes to our movement patterns. A lot of my own clients are in professions that www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

with a proper physical fitness routine, reaching your goal is attainable!

require them to either sit for long periods of time or be in front of a computer. This may seem harmless but overtime our bodies adapt to our new movement patterns and with sitting and slouching throughout the day, our posture and body structure suffer immensely. By using proper form, extensive rehab knowledge and mobility exercises, I do my best to correct those postural issues to have my clients feeling their best throughout their daily life! SAE Magazine: Which is more important to you: physical fitness or nutrition? Darb: Both are equally important at the end of day but as the saying goes, you can’t out train a bad diet. I believe nutrition should be 7080% of your foundation of fitness to reach your overall goal. It is a common occurrence for clients to be expressing their frustration on how hard nutrition can be. They might be confused on what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat and the list goes on. What I do with nutrition is set a plan that is easy to follow. I don’t believe in a restricted diet as that is not sustainable in the long run. What I teach my clients is more of a balanced lifestyle, where no specific food is off limits. This along

SAE Magazine: Do you recommend nutrition supplements? Why or why not? Darb: The job of a supplement is to do exactly that, supplement your overall nutrition and diet. Supplements should never be the main source of our nutritional foundation. I personally take multiple supplements to help get the most out of my nutrition input. This includes, multi vitamins, fish oils, my daily greens, protein powder among more. Most clients don’t take supplements because they are unsure of what they can do for them. This is where I teach my clients about the benefits of different supplements and how these supplements can be helpful to them. However, that does not mean everyone might need supplements. If you’re already getting enough vitamins throughout the day, then there might be no need for a multi vitamin. The goal is to supplement your body if you require it but not everyone is going to have the same requirements. SAE Magazine: Any tips that you have for the people who want to begin their fitness journey? Darb: I know starting your very own fitness journey can be tough at the beginning. My biggest piece of advice is to just start out slowly. Often, I have clients eager to start and wanting to get into the gym every day or make drastic diet changes. I can understand the logic to this, but most times this is counterproductive. For example, you don’t learn to drive on the highway, you start on the side streets first. Fitness is the same concept. Start off with a 30-minute workout a couple times a week or try cutting down on your serving sizes for your food intake. Making small changes like this will help you stick to your long-term goals, which will inevitably bring success! I also recommend getting adequate rest and sleep as recovery is a huge and important part of building and developing muscle. Go out and try different activities. Starting your fitness journey doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym all the time. Go out for a run, try yoga, or play any sport. Lastly, I would say to follow fitness influencers who are giving you the right advice on living a healthy fit lifestyle. The more you see something positive and uplifting, the more you will want to incorporate it into your daily routine. Feel free to follow me on Instagram @darblall for fitness motivation and tips!

The love of a family

is life’s greatest blessing

A happy, well-functioning family has many common features, but a lack of conflict isn’t one of them. All family members will sometimes rub each other the wrong way, argue with one another and hurt each other’s feelings, sometimes seriously. But the features common to happy families are security, trust, and tolerance; gratitude and pride in one another; and the enjoyment that comes from being playful with one another. Here are a few tips that may help encourage family harmony in the face of life’s events. 1. Speak kindly to each other. If you do happen to use an unintended tone or language that sounds hurtful, excuse yourself. Let the other person know that the tone or language wasn’t intended to be harsh, and that you apologize. 2. Let each member of your family know what it is that you value in them. Don’t take the contributions of your family for granted. If they are kind, generous, giving, helpful, or supportive, let them know.

12

OCTOBER 2021

3. Value the uniqueness of each member of your family. What characteristics do your family members have that you find interesting, unique, or even wonderful? Celebrate the positive about those you love. 4. Use Sundays as a day to gather and meet about the week ahead. Often schedules are overloaded and can be overwhelming as a result. Planning the week ahead and checking in with family members as to how they are doing, what is coming up in the week ahead, as well as, highlights and “low-lights” from the week past, can be a way of connecting and preventing potential problems or pitfalls in the coming week. 5. Have a plan for managing stress. We all have a certain level of stress, and not all stress is bad. But too much stress can lead to distress, and this takes a toll on the body, the

mind, and relationships. Exercise, creative pursuits, fun activities, and positive relationships all counteract the effects of stress.

a craft, writing, drawing, or even looking out their window. Just 10 minutes to bring the mind back to quietness.

6. Realize when to say “No”. Everyone has a limit, what’s yours? Don’t take on too much to do and know when to stop. Keep this in mind with your children too. Children need down time and so do parents. Many times, kids are taking on too many after school activities, and combined with increased schoolwork this can lead to distress. Down time is time to do whatever you like, quiet or otherwise.

8. Spend time in nature. So often we are caught up in our worlds of work, sports, and school we forget the beautiful force of nature and all the tranquil moments it provides to release stress.

7. Find some Quiet Time daily. This is just 10 minutes of time to think, relax, sip on a cup of tea/coffee, and be still. This is unplugged, nonelectronic time. Encourage your children to find quiet time, or still time. They could spend time in their room, laying on their bed, snuggling with you, walking outside, creating

9. Think positively and look for the positive in others. This is hard, but every moment has it’s silver lining. Most of our irritations are small and inconsequential. If you can find it in your heart to forgive and move on with whatever hurt you have experienced, it will lighten your load. Sometimes our inner space gets completely taken up with negative feelings and thoughts that end up hurting ourselves. Most people do not intend to be hurtful, they make mistakes, as we all do. Find the beauty in others and they will find it in you. www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

RESP - A UNIQUE INVESTMENT FOR YOUR CHILD’S FUTURE Sandeep Ahuja

O

ur children are our future and we endeavour to provide them best education so that they may become well-settled in their lives. But as the cost of postsecondary education is quite high in Canada, we need to start investing for their education when they are young so that we may be free from any financial worries when our children are ready for their university. Initiative of Canadian Government To ease the financial burden of parents, the government of Canada has designed a unique educational savings program namely Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) which helps you to accumulate funds for your child’s postsecondary education. The subscriber has to contribute monthly through preauthorized payments until December 31 of the year in which the designated beneficiary at issue reaches age 17. At the end of the commitment period, your total payout is paid as Educational Assistance Payments (EAP). Who can open RESP/be the named Beneficiary? You can enrol in the Diploma RESP if you have a Canadian address with a valid SIN number. It also includes people on work permits and refugees approved by IRCC. Your spouse can be the joint subscriber in the plan. When you enrol, you need to designate a beneficiary who should be a child of age 14, or under, who will receive the educational assistance payments when pursuing post-secondary studies. He/ she needs to be a Canadian resident with a SIN number.

www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Your child can be made beneficiary of more than one RESP. It is important to note that after December 31 of the 31st calendar year following the plan’s creation, no contributions can be made. Also, the plan must cease to exist no later than December 31 of the 35th year following the plan’s creation. Assistance for low income families

In 2005, the government enhanced the program by providing an additional grant based on the parents’ family income. For low income families, the government offers another grant namely Canada Learning Bond (CLB) with the help of which, eligible parents get $500 in the first year and, $100 in each subsequent year of eligibility until the child reaches 15 years of age. The cumulative limit of CLB offered to a child can therefore reach $2,000. To be eligible, the beneficiary must be a resident of Canada born after December 31, 2003 with a valid social insurance number (SIN). Besides, provincial governments also pay grants to eligible families under the RESP program. How much money can you save? The maximum lifetime contribution limit per child is $50,000 while there isn’t any annual contribution limit. This implies that as per your budget, you can invest up to $50,000 in the plan. To encourage parents to invest funds in postsecondary education of their children as early as possible, the government of Canada has devised CESG plan. CESG in a Glimpse: Annual Grant: 20% of your annual contribution Contribution Limit of Annual Grant: $500 Total Lifetime Limit per Saving (per Beneficiary): $7,200 Cont. in next Edition OCTOBER 2021

Thanksgiving Day (Canada)

T

hanksgiving Day is an annual Canadian holiday. Initially it was decided to occurring on the second Monday in October, which celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year.

Thanksgiving in Canada isWW celebrated on the second Monday of October each year and it’s an official statutory holiday except in PEI, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia - however federally regulated institutions do observe Thanksgiving in those provinces too. In the US thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November. The original idea is to give thanks for the past harvest season but for many Canadian families the tradition has changed over time and the focus is now to get together with family and eat a large turkey dinner. Apple cider is a must for any traditional thanksgiving celebration as well as turkey stuffing and pumpkin pie. The first Thanksgiving holiday was held in Canada in 1872 to celebrate the recovery of the Prince of Wales from a serious illness. After 1879 celebrations

16

were held every year but not always in October - it used to be observed around Armistice Day in November. At the Crawford Lake

conservation area (Milton, ON) a path around the lake has pictures and short stories of native people and their celebrations. One of the stories is about thanksgiving; it starts with this sentence:

“Thanksgiving to native Indians was a way of everyday life rather than a one-day celebration.” Take a few minutes to think about this quote. Thank you. Courtesy: Statutory holidays

Don’t fear the pandemic, celebrate Halloween with precautions ensuring maximum safety

I

The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.

n the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jacko-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats. It is one the most awaited days of the year for kids who get to have loads of candy without any restrictions. But, this year the scariest thing on Halloween night will not be people dressed up in costumes to scare you off, but, it will be the invisible threat of COVID-19, and adults and children should change their plans to minimize that danger, according to new guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The top U.S. health agency issued a new set of coronavirus

www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

safety recommendations on its website in what it described as a “supplement” to existing safety measures in various states and cities. The guidelines are some of the first to emerge on a national level ahead of the Halloween season in Canada and the United States. “Many traditional Halloween activities can be high-risk for spreading viruses,” the agency says on its website. “There are several safer, alternative ways to participate in Halloween.” The CDC is urging people to avoid some of the most beloved traditions of the spooky season, including trick-or-treating and

indoor costume parties, due to the “high risk” they pose for spreading the virus. It’s also labelled haunted houses, hayrides with strangers, fall festivals outside your community, drinking and “trunk or treating” as higher-risk activities during the pandemic. (Trunk-or-treating involves handing out candy from the trunk of a car). The CDC recommended several lower-risk activities for celebrating the holiday with people in your immediate household, including carving pumpkins, watching movies and holding candy scavenger hunts.

The agency also described some activities that are moderately risky, such as attending an outdoor costume party in a mask, conducting one-way trickor-treating and visiting haunted forests while maintaining more than two meters of space from others. So, keeping all the risk factors in mind, it is only advisable to be careful, cautious and indulge in the fun but also follow all the precautions ensuring maximum safety. We hope you enjoy all these festivals, but, with love, care, and a lot of safety. With inputs from www.globalnews.ca

All you need to know about

Vijayadashami

T

he name Vijayadashami is derived from the Sanskrit terms “Vijayadashami” which means victory on the day of Dashami. Dashami is tenth lunar day of a Hindu calendar month. All over India Hindus celebrate this auspicious day in many ways. In some parts, it’s the day Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasur. After nine days of Navratri, the festival culminates with the immersion of the idol of Durga. This was also the day King Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, killed Ravana, the 10-headed demon. To celebrate the legend huge effigies of Ravana are burned and with it burns all evil. History

Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, has several different stories related to it, with the common theme being the victory of good over evil.

It is often reported that the story of Rama’s victory over Ravana can be traced as far back as 5114 BC. This famous Hindu celebration says that the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama, killed the ten-headed devil Ravana. Lord Rama, along with his brother Larkshman and follower Hanuman, trekked to Ravana’s kingdom to fight him and bring back Sita, Rama’s wife. On their way Rama prayed to Durga and was eventually victorious. It was from around 1500BC

that the first Durga Puja celebrations are mentioned, with these in Dinajpur and Malda. These celebrations often draw upon Goddess Durga’s assassination of the demon Mahidhasur

For some, Vijayadashami marks the end of Durga Puja and they remember the goddess Durga’s victory Mahishasura to restore and protect dharma. For others Vijayadashami remembers god Rama’s victory over Ravan. Traditional ways to celebrate include processions to a river or ocean, during which people carry statues of Surga, Lakshmi, and Ganesha as they chant and listen to music. The festival also starts the preparations for Diwali (the festival of lights) which comes twenty days after Vijayadashami. 5 ENLIGHTENING FACTS ABOUT VIJAYDASHMI Why the idols are immersed Immersing the idol on Vijaydashmi symbolizes how a deity moves from the formless (clay) to form (the idol) and then again to formlessness in water — bringing a balance to nature and cosmic energy.

5 principles of Discipline

T

By: Sandy Dosanjh

he process of transforming our bodies requires grit, dedication and sacrifice, because these are ingredients to build greatness HABITS AND DISCIPLINE Obtaining an ideal physique is not limited to physical effort alone. It also comprises establishing good habits through focus and discipline. There are five basic principles which will help you reach your fitness goals: Principle 1: Breathe and Learn to control your Stress When our bodies feel overwhelmed or “stressed out” it releases cortisol and endorphins. These chemicals cause our palms

to sweat, our minds to race, our hearts to pound, and our bodily functions to malfunction. This is the

body’s natural response to stress, developed over millions of years of human evolution. Learn to control this natural response to stress so that you are poised even under the most stressful of circumstances. Mental, emotional and physical stress can be controlled through deep, controlled and rhythmic breathing. Principle 2: Positive Energy Pay attention to your energy. What you put into the universe comes back. This means positive affirmations throughout the day, especially your workouts. Its important block out all negative self-talk and constantly motivate yourselves to keep going. You must remind yourself to go on and not quit, no matter what. Have faith in yourself. Principle 3: Visualization There have been multiple studies which prove that visualization works. You can use visualization on multiple levels; You can visualize how you want to look, you can visualize completing a particular exercise, or reaching a particular goal. Using mental

20

imagery to prepare yourself for a goal facilitates a better chance at succeeding. Once the mind is prepared, you will have full control over your mental and physical faculties. Principle 4: Micro Goals Set small goals for yourself; get through the week, and then focus on the next week. Before you know it, a month will have passed. One step at a time. Learn to focus on one thing at a time and avoiding all distractions. Do it by determining the overall objective, breaking it down into smaller pieces, and repeating as needed until you get it perfect. Principle 5: Suck it Up To learn that when you're uncomfortable and discouraged, sometimes you just have to suck it up and get through it. The Navy Seals in the US is an elite military unit. Their training is tremendously difficult and intense. There is a large brass bell which sits in the middle of their training compound. All you have to do to quit--is ring the bell. Ring the bell and you no longer have to wake up at 5’o clock. Ring the bell and you no longer have to do the freezing cold swims. Ring the bell and you no longer have to do the runs, the obstacle course, the PT-and you no longer have to endure the hardships of training. Just ring the bell. The vast majority of trainees ring the bell. The very few that don’t become US Navy SEALS. If you want to change the world, never ring the bell. www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

RISING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AMID THE PANDEMIC

C

anada has always remained in highlights for extremely high rate of immigration among other developed countries. The increase in the labor force is however not solving the problem of unemployment in Canada. Taking into consideration this year’s statistics (Statistics Canada), unemployment rate in Canada has increased from 7.5% in March 2021 to 8.1% in April 2021. A major share of the unemployment was caused due to the recently announced immigration policies such as TR to PR pathway and the benefits announced by the government pertaining to COVID-19. The TR to PR pathway was implemented in May 2021 and in this month alone, the labor market was hit with the loss of 68,000 jobs (CBC News). Similarly, when the federal government announced COVID-19 benefits in 2020 for the unemployed people or for the ones whose income got affected due to COVID-19, the unemployment rate increased manifolds and reached up to 9.6% (Statistics Canada).

The exceptionally high unemployment rate is somewhat a reflection of the loop holes in the system and COVID-19 alone cannot be blamed for the spike in unemployment rate. The need of hour is to address this emerging problem of unemployment. With students now immigrating

to Canada as travel restrictions are eased and educational institutions are now open for on-campus classes, the businesses are getting a sigh of relief. With a relief in COVID-19 restrictions, there has been a rise in job opportunities in the Canadian labor market. Now the levels of certainty in businesses operations amid the pandemic is increasing, the employers are looking for qualifying candidates for their businesses especially in the front-line sectors. A huge spike in employment opportunities in the Hospitality industry has been observed. We have been notified by our clients about the increased vacancies in several restaurants, Hotels all across British Columbia. Not only these, the job opportunities in non-essential sectors are also slowly taking the pace as compare to a high demand in essential services.

Although there is a rise in vacancies but the TFWP (Temporary Foreign Worker Program) still remains a rigorous procedure with a longer processing time for the LMIAs. These factors also need to be considered when planning for the recruitment needs. By: R. Kaur

The celebrity makeup trick that

makes your skin glow

F

estivals are just around the corner and while you brainstorm about OOTDs (outfit of the day), don’t forget the right makeup. Hanisha Kapoor, COO, ArchiesBeauty.com shares makeup trends experimented by these Bollywood divas throughout 2021 for inspiration. While some stuck to the classics, others mixed it up. Take a look: The Classic Red Lip

We don’t see a future where classic red lips go out of fashion. The right way to achieve this celebrity look is to focus on accentuating your lips and keeping the rest of the face minimal. Give your lips a good scrub to plump them, moisturize and follow it up with a red lip liner to define the shape of your lips. Now go on with the perfect shade of red and finish your look with a slick of eyeliner, minimal concealer, and foundation. No Makeup Look Deepika Padukon is the perfect example of a no-makeup look. This natural beauty does a wonderful job of achieving the minimal soft look by softly cover any dark spots or blemishes and highlighting features she’s most proud of. To achieve this start with concealer and use small dots to brighten your darker areas like under eye, corner of the nose or upper lip, and any visible spots, and set it up with loose powder. Apply a soft pink lipstick, light blush, and mascara. Rosy Look This look shouts pink. When it comes to rosy looks, Janhavi Kapoor does a phenomenal job. Everyone should try a rosy look once in a while. As we are focusing on only one shade, this look is pretty easy to achieve. Bring out your

favourite pink lipstick, favourite pink blush, and a matching shade of eye shadow. Start with the base concealer, and foundation and set it up with loose powder. Follow it up with eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush. Remember to draw a line by not using any pink mascara, eyeliner, or a bold shade of lipstick, as this is meant to be soft on the eyes. Glass Skin Makeup The glass skin makeup is inspired by Korean skincare. This look is slightly complex with an equal focus on skin before makeup, so slather on those moisturizing serums and creams to prep your skin first. Start with a

highlighting primer, keep your foundation and concealer minimal to avoid looking cakey. Follow it up with soft blush & nude lips and lots and lots of highlighter. Use the highlighter on the main points of your face, like upper cheekbones, the centre of the forehead, the tip of the nose, cupid bone, and chin. If you are feeling a bit extra, don’t hesitate to put some on your shoulders and collar bones. This celebrity makeup look makes your skin glow without the need for a spotlight. Pop It Up

Put a zing to your party look with the pop of funky colour. This look is meant to get you in the mood of partying all night. This works with your eye makeup while keeping the rest of the face minimal. Start with the base - concealer, apply a bit extra on your eyelids to make the colour pop. Don’t mind going the extra mile and colour blocking your eyes with complementary colours on eyelids and under the eye. Apply nude lipstick and a soft blush to balance your look. By N. I

n this month’s article we will go over the biggest question that every new, aspiring dog owner wonders initially, “Which dog breed will suit me best?” There are many different breeds, along with sizes. Certain breeds have been conditioned overtime to be more obedient than others. Some more active than others, and some outdoors vs indoors. The decision of which breed will best suit your needs and lifestyle is a very important question each person should ask themselves before adopting and gaining the responsibility of a life on their hands. Choosing the right breed can make or break the amazing experience of having a pet in your life and friendly companion to share activities with. One of the first questions you should ask yourself is if you wish to have a dog that is just as outdoorsy as you are, or if you wish to have a furry companion that stays indoors mostly as you do. If you live in an apartment or condo, an indoor dog may be a better option overall. For those who live in a house with a back or front fenced yard, a larger dog is a possibility to keep in mind, along with small breeds too. If you already have children or older family members within the household, would they be comfortable around a large dog or would a smaller dog be easier

Which dog breed is best for you?

to handle? Some breeds are more vocal than others. Huskies are one

among many types of dogs that are famous for making various unique sounds and being very vocal. If you’re looking for a quieter dog that doesn’t bark too much, then maybe a Husky is not meant for you! If you are an adventurous person, who loves to go camping and on hikes, then a larger, active dog may be a better fit for your lifestyle. In this case, dogs like German Shepherds are known for being very active and alert to commands. If you already have other pets in the house, no matter which species, it may be a good idea to consider what type of new family member would help in keeping peace within the household. A more active, hyper dog may create a bit of chaos if the rest of your pets are not as active upon the same level. There are always exceptions to all the generalized information we are providing towards this article; however, we would like to still touch base on the most common scenarios we see arise in our field of expertise. Besides exercise and noise levels, another major factor to consider is how much time you are able to provide towards the new dog you wish to adopt. As much as we would all love to divide our time properly and give as much attention as possible to every aspect of our life, we are only human at the end of

24

OCTOBER 2021

the day. Certain breeds require a lot of attention and time, such as Huskies, Border Collies, Pugs, Yorkshire Terriers, English Bulldogs, Dalmatians, Jack Russels, Labrador Retrievers, etc. However, some breeds do not require as much attention at all and are very sufficient at self care while owners are gone to work. Basset hounds and bulldogs are both very affectionate and relaxed breeds, however as much as they both love to go for walks and exercise, they can not tolerate extreme amounts. With the amount of time you have for your dog depending on your lifestyle, another thing to keep in mind is the grooming process. Some dogs require regular maintenance of being groomed, such as Poodles, however others require almost none at all, like Beagles. Choosing a breed may feel like a difficult task at hand, however you should always feel free to contact your local veterinarian and discuss which options are best suited for you. Selecting the right breed that is meant for you can make the experience of having a pet dog a beautiful journey. It is better to have done your research and decided fully which breed you wish to adopt than to sometimes go in blindly not knowing what to expect. Such cases can lead to neglect or anxiety that can cross into the borderline area of abuse. To avoid such, it is always important to educate ourselves and better prepare for what is ahead.

Under-eye skincare for overtime screentime I n the era of computers and smart phones, it is hard to imagine a task that hasn’t been made easier by some sort of technology. You all may know how harmful the blue light emitted by computers, smart phones, tablets, televisions, and other electronics is for your eyes. Since the inception of the pandemic, the use of these electronic devices has increased, and we all know it can have multiple undesirable effects on the eye. Dark circles are formed mostly due to the reflection of the dark maroon underlying orbicularis oculi, a circular muscle around our eye. The dark pigmentation gives you an exhausted look which makes you seem sick or sleep-deprived. The skin around the eye is the thinnest, results in reflection of the said dark maroon underlying orbicularis oculi. The artificial light from the screen of your electronic devices causes a lot of drying, as it steals the moisture from the skin and also causes a breakdown of collagen. How can you deal with the undesirable effects? 4 Follow a proper skincare regimen, use a moisturiser rich in vitamins especially C,E, and K. Massage it gently in clockwise and anticlockwise gentle circular movements. 4 Apply under-eye cream 40 minutes before going to bed. 4 Green tea bags can also help to shrink the blood vessels that will lessen dark circles.

frequent breaks while using digital devices.

4 Reduce overhead lighting to minimize screen glare.

4 Keep your eyes an arm’s distance away from the screen.

Vivek Singh, CEO and Co-founder of Anveya Living says, “People spend a large portion of the day straining their eyes on computers, phones or tablets. Our eye muscles try to focus and refocus on and off screens which causes strain. There are a few solutions to this problem. Dehydration plays a big role, especially in the area around the eyes. Make sure you pick an eye cream that suits your eye concerns. Commenting on the same, Shilpa Rathi Maheshwari, Founder of I AM LOVE, a Nutraceutical Health and Skincare Brand, said, “Screen time is the latest plague that has been going around and everyone has fallen victim to it; the young and the old. Too much eye strain affects the skin around the eyes, it causes them to age at an accelerated rate. While curbing screen time is one solution, it can’t be a solution for people whose livelihood depends on it. Well, you don’t have to worry when you have enough protein and collagen in your body. You might need to supplement your body with an increased amount of collagen and protein to negate the damage being done.” By: N. Lothungbeni Humtsoe

n all the wedding excitement, it’s easy to overlook the impact a wedding has on the environment. While everyone is making their big fat Indian wedding dreams come true, they are also adding their carbon footprint and undue energy consumption. Modern couples are now looking for ways to have a wedding with a sustainably conscious mindset. It’s become about incorporating less waste, locally sourced and seasonal food, natural materials over the use of plastic. to the wedding. Say yes to recycling One should be mindful and avoid the use of plastic and other non-recyclable materials in decor wherever possible. It can be a small step such as making a conscious switch from plastic

water bottles to copper jugs or glass bottles. Also use artificial floral decor thus minimising the wastage produced from real flowers. This recyclable decor is then donated to various NGOs, further ensuring sustainable use of resources. Such steps, however small they might be, keep the environment free from the release of any additional carbon footprint. Go for zero-waste wedding decor Make use of fabric as it enhances the elegance of the wedding while being sustainable. Include vibrant colours apt to the theme of the wedding and bring in bright sprightliness with breathable fabrics. Ensure to include LED lights for lighting. They can be incorporated as string lights or be used on passageways with innovative decor items. They also help conserve energy and bring in soulful energy for nighttime decor. Choose virtual invitations, keeping up with the digital times. Make a conscious choice of plated dinner menus rather than a buffet as they allow less wastage of food and ensure enough food for guests in attendance. since inception in 2015. Over 20 KidsPlay members, who started as volunteers, are now law enforcement officers serving the community on and off the job.

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Investing in youth today, means a tremendous future return on investment by creating well adjusted productive adults that give back to society. At KidsPlay Foundation, we believe that it takes a village to raise a child- we are that village”, says Kal Dosanjh, KidsPlay founder and an active law enforcement officer.

According to the KidsPlay team, “success can be measured in many ways. Ours is measured when we see the same kids who were participants in the past years, are now helping us run the same programs as volunteers. That is when we know we have planted a seed and nurtured it well. All these kids want, and need is an opportunity to grow and support to help them reach their goals.”

There is an over representation of southeast Asian youth involved in drugs, gangs, and crime. Much of this can be attributed to a loss of culture, language, and self-respect, which gradually erodes identity. Through free programs, not only kids are provided with a positive outlet which time and time again has proven to provide youth an outlet away from engaging in a criminal lifestyle, but also something for these children to do during this pandemic.

How to Clean Gold Jewellery Like a Pro It doesn’t take long to fall in love with a new piece of sparkly gold jewellery. It also doesn’t take long for that gold jewellery to fade, whether you are wearing it on a regular basis or just storing it in a jewellery box. Taking your jewellery for professional cleaning may do the job, but it’s time-consuming and expensive as well. jewellery, or in worst cases, cause permanent damage. Ritika Tiwari

he good news is that, you can easily clean your favourite gold jewellery pieces like a pro, with common cleaning supplies that you might already have at home. Since gold has high chances of tarnish, here are two things you should completely avoid if you often wear gold jewellery: Soap: It’s best to stay away from soaps with unknown ingredients since they may have chemicals which can badly affect your jewellery. That is why, you should always take off your gold necklaces or rings before showering. Chlorine: Whether you are cleaning your house with chlorine bleach or going for a swim, take off your jewellery beforehand. Chlorine, especially at high temperatures, can discolur your precious gold

Here are some of the house hold items you can use to clean gold jewellery like a pro: 1- Ammonia Mix half a cup of clear ammonia with one cup of warm water and soak your gold jewellery in it for about 10 minutes. After taking it out, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft cloth, and let it dry. Though, make sure to not do this to jewellery pieces with pearls in them as ammonia can damage and dull their delicate surface. 2- Baking soda Add ¼ cup of baking soda to 2 tablespoons of water and make a thick paste. With a damp sponge, rub this paste gently on your jewellery and buff it dry. If your jewellery has been badly tarnished, then replace water with vinegar and follow the same method. Although, make sure to not use this technique with jewellery containing gemstones as the paste could loosen the glue.

jewellery is by cleaning it with a toothpaste. Just mix the paste in some water and clean the jewellery pieces with a soft toothbrush. You can dip the toothbrush in warm water to make it softer, before you start cleaning. If you are doing it for the first time, make sure to dilute the toothpaste with more water to get an idea about how strong the solution is. After scrubbing, clean the jewellery under running water and dab it with a dry cloth. 5- Soda Add some soda to water and

soak your jewellery pieces in it for about 10 minutes. Take them out, clean jewellery pieces with lukewarm water, and scrub them gently with a soft toothbrush if you think the dirt hasn’t been properly removed. Soak the jewellery in some warm water for a few seconds before you finally clean it with a dry cloth. 6- Boiling water For plain gold jewellery that doesn’t have any stones studded in it, nothing works better than simple boiling water. Leave the jewellery in boiling water for about five minutes, and then put it under warm running water for a few seconds. Dab the pieces with a soft cloth and place them on a table for an hour to air dry them. With these simple tricks, your gold jewellery will always be shining and sparkly.

3- Beer Walk to your fridge and take out a can of beer to clean your gold jewellery -- Yes, it’s that easy. Pour some bear on a soft cloth and rub it gently on the jewellery pieces. Once you are done, clean the jewellery with a dry cloth or towel and let it dry. 4- Toothpaste A great way to clear your favourite

Clearing the IELTS Meenu, Baljit’s mom and I came back to Canada with a very heavy heart. Meenu and I consoled each other several times on the way. We reached Canada. Because of my mom’s demise, I felt that beautiful Canada was completely deserted. Amrit and his dad came to receive us at the Vancouver Airport. We reached home. I felt extremely sad. I never felt at home anywhere. “Sonia, how will you move ahead in your life if you quit completely like this? Even Nancy was looking at you this morning and asked me why you remain so quiet these days. Honey, look at her and learn to live with circumstances.”, Baljit’s mom advised me the other day. “I’m unable to bear the loss of my mom!”, I said and couldn’t

help crying. Baljit’s mom embraced me with motherly love. She advised me to restart my IELTS classes and study further to become a certified nurse in Canada. I restarted my classes to complete the coaching for IELTS.

The other day, we had a discussion on a topic - How important spirituality in our life is. “I think spirituality is an integral part of our life. First of all, everyone has to practice spirituality in life. I think as we age, practicing spirituality becomes very important in our life to keep our mind at peace.”, the teacher said. “Sir, most of current wars are being fought on the name of religions and discrimination. Do you think it is necessary for a person to be religious?”, a girl student asked.

where worldly education ends, spiritual education begins right from there. When we are young, we may not believe in god. But, as we age, we realize there is some supernatural power that is controlling everything every moment. If somebody still refuses to believe in that power, he or she is bound to be miserable. Only he is happy who surrenders himself completely before that mighty power after doing his best. Fighting on the name of religions shows man’s immaturity to understand the importance of life on the earth.”, the teacher put forth his point of view.

Oscillates between action comedy and stealthy rom-com Duration: 115 minutes Director: Shawn Levy Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Taika Waititi, Aaron Reed, Britne Oldford and Anabel Graetz. Rating: ***

In the film, Free City is an online video game promoted by Antwan (Taika Waititi), the head developer of Soonami Games. Incidentally, the source code of this game was stolen from an unreleased game developed by Millie (Jodie Comer) and Keys (Joe Keery).

While fantasy films require some suspension of disbelief, they are nevertheless required to operate logically within their conceit framework, and ‘Free Guy’ delivers on that count.

So, Keys takes up a job at Soonami and Millie spends her time within Free City manipulating her avatar Molotov Girl to find evidence to prove that she and Keys are the rightful owners of the code. This is the skeleton of the tale. The film’s screenplay concentrates on Guy (Ryan Reynolds), a flat character in Free City, who usually, in the videogame lingo, is called an NPC (nonplayer character). In literal terms, he is a background character who is not controlled by a player.

Conceptually, Director Shawn Levy’s ‘Free Guy’ is a virtual-reality saga that’s neither unique, nor intriguing. It portrays video games as a shared universe into which characters literally enter and inhabit, thus in its literal form, the story plays like a fantasy-fairytale. We have seen such sci-fic films earlier, including one nearer home -- Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Ra One’, which was released in 2011.

In Guy’s world, violence, crime and killing are just a part of the landscape. He works as a teller

in a bank and, together with his pal, security guard Buddy (Lil Rel Howery), maintains the same routine every day. With a cheerful disposition they wait for the bank to get robbed by whoever is playing the game that day. It allows them a chance to chat even as violence occurs around them. One day, Guy spots Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer) and is smitten by her. He follows her only to realise that she can be pretty intimidating. She is one of the ‘Sunglasses’ people, which mean she is actually controlled by a player. According to some unwritten rule in the game, non-player characters don’t wear sunglasses and they don’t speak or interact with those who do. So, when Guy accidentally learns how to acquire the eyewear that allows him to interact with the players of Free City, he works hard and breaks all rules to impress Molotov Girl. How their paths

converge, with Guy now an online sensation helping Millie in her endeavour, forms the crux of the narrative. This energetic film is loaded with action and VFX sequences. With many thrilling sequences mounted with grandeur, it gives you the feel of a live video game. ‘Free Guy’ is an outright Ryan Reynolds film. Wide-eyed and poker faced, he is fun to watch. Judie Comer, as his love interest, is strikingly impressive. And Utkarsh Ambudkar, as Mouser the problem solver, Taika Waititi and Joe Keery, are all natural and charismatic. Despite the story beats being thin, the tone wildly different and some of its action sequences visually absorbing, the film is largely entertaining, oscillating between an action comedy and a stealthy rom-com. All you need to know about a cellular detox and cleansing While we speak about cellular detox, cleansing, autophagy etc, we need to understand which toxins are we referring to. Our body is exposed to various toxins on a daily basis either internal or external.

E

xternally, they enter our body through air, food, water, products that we apply over the skin etc. Most of the foods we eat contain pesticides, animal hormones, other toxins, and antibiotics which decrease the ability of our liver and colons to naturally detoxify and digest these foods. When the liver and colon are not working properly and expel such toxins, the whole body turns toxic! This toxicity produces a variety of symptoms such as inability to lose weight, fatigue, skin pigmentations and allergies etc. Besides bodily toxins, toxins can also exist in the form of negative or unresolved emotions in our minds. These also lead to the manifestation of illnesses. Stress is a big toxin and reduces the ability of the body to absorb nutrients from the food, rest and repairs itself. Symptoms of Toxicity Toxicity generally affects us at a cellular level, whereas diseases and their manifestations often appear on an organ level. Consider the disease hepatitis which affects the liver cells, its symptoms are strongly associated almost entirely with the liver functions that are impaired. A toxin however can be circulated throughout the whole body depending on its nature, and therefore can affect many cells types and organ systems at the same time. In addition, we may have many toxins affecting us and each of these has its own

38

OCTOBER 2021

particular effect on the body. Such complex toxicity is often hard to understand or predict. In general, many non-specific symptoms might be from a toxic overload. Why should you Detox? Detox is like cleansing your inner body. When done correctly under an expert, a detox helps us get rid of countless toxic substances accumulating in our body from the cellular levels. This sets the stage for a healthier lifestyle. Some of the many benefits of regular detoxing include: preventing chronic disease, slows premature ageing, increases energy, improves mental clarity, restores balances to our body systems etc. it is suggested that we do a short detox every quarter or do a complete detox twice a year.

How to do cellular cleansing and expel the toxins from the body One of the most accepted and quick forms of body cleansing is by tapering the diet and by promoting the intake of alkaline foods in the form of liquids. Liquid fasting is an act of self abstaining from some or all food, drink, or both, for a specific period. During fasting, the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. One can accelerate this cleansing process by drinking alkaline juices. Sugars in juices will strengthen the body and provide energy, juice fasting is, therefore, the safest form of fasting. While in the process of eliminating accumulated poisons and toxic waste materials, a lot of

energy is spent during the fast. It is, therefore, of utmost importance to take a good physical rest and mental relaxation as possible during the fast. Recommendations for a fruitful cleansing: 4 Consume 8 -- 12 glasses of water at room temperature to speed up the cellular cleansing. 4 During the cleansing process, we go through healing crises such as mild headaches, false hunger pangs, nausea or exhaustion. One must manage this with the help of wellness or nutritional expert. 4 Take adequate physical rest and do not indulge in too intense activities for a longer period. Mild to moderate activities are recommended such as yoga, meditation, walking, TRX, dancing, swimming and stretching. 4 Avoid any other junk food as this will adversely affect the cleansing process of the body and mind. 4 No solid food is to be consumed during the liquid cleanse and then the cleanse need to be gradually ended. A regular and consistent yoga practice can do wonders for your health and over wellbeing. The pandemic has accelerated the need for physical activity, and no wonder, yoga has emerged as the preferred choice.

The don’ts of

Yoga practice

Sarvesh Shashi, Founder, SARVA lists the top mistakes beginner yogis often tend to make: 1. Don’t over-exert yourself. If on a scale of 1 to 10 -- 1 being easiest and 10 being the toughest -- every asana need not be a 10. Some days an 8 feels like a 10 and on others, a 15 feels like an 8! 2. Don’t hold your breath unnaturally unless the trainer specifically mentions this during practice. Breathe normally. 3. Avoid practicing yoga when you are exhausted, during illness, Yoga should make you feel the rush of happy hormones in the end, not entirely exhausted!

4. Do not practice alone. This one is more of a guideline. If you’re a beginner, it’s best to practice under someone’s guidance. It is not advised to simply read and practice, it may lead to a muscle pull or discomfort. While practicing advanced postures for the first time, it’s best to have someone assist you while doing these. 5. Avoid wearing tight clothes and do not wear shoes. Especially

tight upper body clothing will restrict the movement of the rib cage and lung that would result in incomplete breathing. 6. Don’t shower immediately, after a good sweaty workout, let the body dry normally and then shower for a normal cool-down of the body. 7. Do not perform inversion or ‘feet up’ asanas, during the menstruation cycle. Preferably perform relaxation and breathing

techniques. 8. Do not perform any high-intensity workout post-yoga. Perform it before yoga practice for a better effect. 9. Avoid drinking too much water during the practice. You can have water at a moderate level just to overcome your thirst during practice. By: Sidhhi Jain

How do you deal with a snoring partner?

S

only to avoid snoring but also to maintain overall health and well-being. When the body is dehydrated, secretions in the nose and soft palate becomes stickier. This can obstruct the proper flow of air and cause snoring. For men, it is recommended to consume at least 3-4 litres of fluid every day, while women must consume 2-3 litres of fluids daily.

noring can be frustrating and annoying, especially for those who sleep with a snorer. The National Sleep Foundation reports that one in three men and four women snore every night. Though snoring is often overlooked as a minor issue, it can occur due to various reasons requiring immediate attention. Obesity or being overweight is one of the leading causes of snoring. Snoring accompanied by irregular breathing is a sign of cardiovascular disease risk. Sleep apnoea can be another condition that increases the chances of snoring. Sleep apnoea is a sleep disorder in which the breathing repeatedly stops and resumes. Fortunately, plenty of remedies are available to treat snoring naturally without using over the counter (OTC) drugs. Obesity or Excess Weight For those who have started snoring after gaining weight, shedding some extra pounds can be quite helpful. Obese people tend to have excess tissue and fat in the neck region, which can reduce the airway size and elevate the risk of airway collapse. Studies

have proved that weight reduction can eliminate the frequency of snoring with increased weight losses causing near to complete elimination of snoring. Sleeping Position Snoring accelerates when people lie in the supine position or on their backs. When someone lies down on the back, the tissues surrounding the airway are pulled down by gravity, making it narrow. Research and studies on snorers have revealed that the intensity and frequency of snoring reduce considerably when they lie on their

sides. Blocked Nasal Passages Snoring can also be prevented by keeping the nasal passages open. When the nose is clogged or blocked, air moves in much faster, leading to snoring. Hot oil massages or nasal oil drops can open the blockages in the nose. Also, a hot shower before bed can be quite beneficial as the moisture opens the nasal passages and reduces the chances of snoring. Hydration Staying hydrated is crucial not

Researchers believe that snoring in smokers can occur because of oedema and upper airway inflammation. While it takes time to show the effects but quitting smoking can significantly lessen the chances of snoring. Alcohol is another substance that relaxes the muscles around the airway, increasing the likelihood to snore among drinkers. Therefore, it is often recommended not to indulge in drinking in the hours leading to bedtime. The tips mentioned above can bring positive results if tried daily. It is important to try them all to find the ideal remedy that helps. By: H.P. Bharathi

ood nutrition is incomplete without components like vitamins and minerals, that are needed in smaller quantities than carbs, protein, and fats, but they’re what keep the human body functioning optimally. Think of them as the small nuts and bolts of a machine, that have a crucial role to play. For most, these essential nutrients usually come from a daily balanced diet, but in some cases -- such as pregnancy or a diagnosed vitamin deficiency -- vitamin supplements may be required to reach adequate levels and can help in overall health and wellness.

Experts at Myprotein suggest that supplementing with vitamins and minerals can help support your fitness goals as well. For instance, vitamins C, B6, and B12 can help reduce tiredness, aiding longer workouts. The essential minerals calcium and magnesium contribute to normal muscle function, which therefore helps to support your body through training sessions. Having said that, vitamin supplements can be called safe-toconsume only if they are taken as supplementary in addition to a healthy diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, legumes, animal sources of food and fortified foods.

Here’s what you should know about speech delay in 2 to 3-year-old Dr. Pargat Singh Bhurji

MD,FRCP ( C ) Consultant Pediatrician Surrery BC

A

typical 2-year-old can say about 50 words and speak in two- and three-word sentences. By the age of 3, their vocabulary increases to about 1,000 words, and they’re speaking in three- and four-word sentences. If your toddler hasn’t met those milestones, they may have a speech delay. Developmental milestones help gauge your child’s progress, but they’re just general guidelines. Children develop at their own rate: If your child has a speech delay, it doesn’t always mean something is wrong. You may simply have a late bloomer who’ll be talking your ear off in no time. A speech delay can also be due to hearing loss or underlying neurological or developmental delay. How speech and language delays are different: Although the two are often difficult to tell apart — and frequently referred to together — there are some differences between a speech and language delay. Speech is the physical act of producing sounds and saying words. A toddler with a speech delay may try but have trouble forming the correct sounds to make words. A speech delay doesn’t involve comprehension or nonverbal communication. Language delay involves understanding and communicating, both verbally and nonverbally. A toddler with a language delay may make the correct sounds and pronounce some words, but they can’t form phrases or sentences that

make sense. They may have difficulty understanding others.

words like “mama” or “dada.” Signs of a speech delay in older toddlers are:

What’s typical for a 3-year-old?

Age 2: doesn’t use at least 25 words

A typical 3-year-old can: 4 use about 1,000 words 4 call themselves by name, call others by name 4 use nouns, adjectives, and verbs in three- and four-word sentences 4 form plurals 4 ask questions 4 tell a story, repeat a nursery rhyme, sing a song Signs of a speech delay If a baby isn’t cooing or making other sounds at 2 months, it could be the earliest sign of a speech delay. By 18 months, most babies can use simple

Age 2 1/2: doesn’t use unique two-word phrases or noun-verb combinations Age 3: doesn’t use at least 200 words, doesn’t ask for things by name, hard to understand even if you live with them Any age: unable to say previously learned words What can cause a speech delay? A speech delay may mean that their timetable is a little different and they’ll catch up. But speech or language delays can also tell something about overall physical and intellectual development. Here are some examples. Problems with the mouth A speech delay can indicate an issue with the mouth, tongue, or palate. In a condition called Tongue tie there could be difficulty with pronounce: 4 D 4 L 4 R 4 S 4 T 4 Z 4 th Tongue-tie can also make it hard for infants to breastfeed.

Hearing loss A toddler who can’t hear well, or hears distorted speech, is likely to have difficulty forming words. Child doesn’t acknowledge a person or object when you name them but does if you use gestures. However, signs of hearing loss may be very subtle. Sometimes a speech or language delay may be the only noticeable sign. Lack of stimulation We learn to speak to get in on the conversation. It’s hard to pick up on speech if no one engages with you. Environment plays a crucial role in speech and language development. Abuse, neglect, or lack of verbal stimulation can keep a child from reaching developmental milestones. 4 Autism spectrum disorder 4 Echolalia, Repeating Phrases 4 repetitive behaviors 4 impaired verbal and nonverbal communication 4 impaired social interaction 4 speech and language regression Neurological problems: Certain neurological disorders can affect muscles necessary for speech. MANISH’S ZODIAC PREDICTIONS - OCTOBER 2021 Manish Kumar Arora, 91-9871062000

Aries (March 21- April 20)

This is a time for streamlining your life, getting organized, and solving problems in practical ways. You benefit from a sense of stability as well as positive feedback from superiors. You are also more credible and reliable, which others appreciate. Romance blossoms nicely this month.

Leo (Jul 23 - August 23)

The urge for adventure and new experiences that introduce you to new cultures, beliefs, or feelings is likely very strong. Fortunate events occur as a direct result of your willingness to entertain the unusual and to think outside of the box.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 21)

This period can bring closure or re-evaluation to issues you have been dealing with regarding learning, communication andpersonal projects. Love is working in your favor from but does encounter some questions. More opportunities for, and less restrictions on, leisure time are in store for you.

What's your #Astrology sign? Select your Astro sign and read below.

Taurus

(April 21- March 20)

This is a time when you are more willing to take personal risks. There may be unexpected events that free you from confining situations or past conditioning patterns. You are more inspired this month, and your personality fairly bubbles with bursts of enthusiasm.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 23)

Gemini

(May 21-Jun 21)

You would be able to bring more imagination to bear on your goals and ambitions now. It could be an excellent period promising much success in terms of love and relationships, provided you are willing to work on it. Long distance travel is also indicated with your beloved.

Libra (September 24- October 23)

Sudden opportunities to expand your horizons, such as through travel, adventure, or learning can arise and jolt you out of your routine. Many of you will be strengthening relationships and, while it’s not necessarily easy going, you’ll reap the rewards later.

Major changes in the structure of your close personal relationships, and in your attitude towards them, are in store. You are more able to get in touch with your subconscious mind, and confronting your fears can be quite pleasurable during this period.

Capricorn

Aquarius

( December 22 - January 20)

Your worldly goals may be watered down as you focus more on personal affairs. Some of you might be leaning towards a more spiritual, creative, or artistic career. Superficial areas of your life will be removed or transformed, and you are freer to express your authentic self.

(January 21 - February 18)
