The new year brings with it a special reflection over what the past year has offered you in your dating life. As one looks back on the last 12 months be honest about your dating successes and failures. Did 2020 bring passion, joy, heartbreak, confusion, inconveniently timed IBS (or a combination of all five)? Regardless, follow these tips to own 2021.

Dating in 2021? Follow these six resolutions

D

on’t be quick to make vague resolutions like ‘being less picky, ‘being more communicative,’ or the Carrie Bradshaw-approved, ‘love myself first!’ Analyse what these actually mean? Without tangible or specific actions, it’s all too easy for well-intentioned goals to fall by the wayside. Allow the power of manifestation to wash over you and repeat the following to yourself

in your own interests is sexy, sometimes they will stop dating you because they find someone else who does, in fact, love rock climbing. Either way, your authenticity is a win in and of itself. I will not agree to go on a date that will eat up on my savings or if I have to borrow money. Let’s face it we all have days when we are tapped out of cash. Why put yourself in a place that will make you uncomfortable? Try a video call or a virtual date night instead.

I will not bother wasting time on that one person from my past who always texts me when they’re in town just because I’m bored. It hasn’t been good all this while, why would it be good this time? Let’s leave this in the 2010’s. I will stop matching with people who don’t upload their pics in their profile. If we all commit to this, we can eradicate it for good. This is the 2021 we all deserve to live in. By N. Lothungbeni Humtsoe

I will respect my body, heart, and mind by waiting until the third date to follow someone on Instagram. Don’t give all your sweet memes and fire OOTDs out for free. Make them work for it. I will be more open to dating people who aren’t my usual “type.” Go ahead and give that tech obsessed person a chance! Best case scenario? You two hit it off and discuss the future of driverless cars. Worst case scenario? You never see him again, but at least you finally understand Bitcoin. I will not pretend to like rock climbing just to relate to the person I want to date. Sometimes they will think your security

Actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood says that 2020 has been a tough year, and was like a reality check for us. Sood, who authored the book ‘I Am No Messiah’, says that it taught us to put others before us and to keep out families closer to us than ever.

Mahesh Manjrekar on working with Hollywood stunt director Don Lee in new web series

V

eteran director Mahesh Manjrekar who has directed the upcoming war drama series, 1962: The War In The Hills, says collaborating with international action director Don Lee has taken the show to the next level. Lee has directed stunts in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise and Star Trek Beyond, among other global hits. Manjrekar’s series is inspired by the 1962 Indo-China war, and showcases how 125 Indian soldiers valiantly fought over 3000 Chinese soldiers at Rezang La and Galwan Valley.

“Don used to write a story of what we were going to shoot, and choreographed it well in advance, which worked fantastically for me. It became easier, and the climax that he shot was brilliant. Don was absolutely prepared but at the same time open to suggestions because he was working on a terrain which was

alien to him,” said Manjrekar. The filmmaker recalled: “On the fifth day of shoot Don started eating spicy food and with his hands during lunchtime. He used to ask me, ‘Kya banaya hai’! We shot in different locations and he knew all the food places in Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. He knew these two

or three hotels and would say, ‘I am going there to eat’. We became friends and that’s why it was easier working with him. Don loves to eat fish and had even asked me if he could take some home because he wanted his mom to taste it. Our good relationship made working together easier and I miss him sometimes. I really want him to come down and do another film with me. Don was a fantastic asset to the show.” The series has been shot in the higher terrains of Ladakh and remote villages across India, and it features Abhay Deol, Akash Thosar, Sumeet Vyas, Rohan Gandotra, Annup Sonii, Meiyang Chang, Mahie Gill, Rochelle Rao, and Hemal Ingle among others. 1962: The War In The Hills, a 10-episode series, streams on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium from February 26. Knee surgery post-op rehab: How to ensure a speedy recovery

R

Krishna Jeeja

(CEO MJ Physio)

ecovering from knee surgery does not happen overnight. The timelines and regimens differ from one person to another and depend on several factors. If you are about to undergo surgery, it helps to read and learn as much as you can about what most people experience. Here are a few things you need to know about recovering from knee surgery. What To Do Before The Surgery Before the operation, you need to clarify with your surgeon the amount of time you need to recover. Ask them how many days you will need off work and about post-op restrictions or postsurgery physiotherapy you must complete. Your surgeon could tell you how quickly you would need to speak with a physio or what exercises to avoid in the first few weeks. Speak to them about your personal goals and when you can start engaging in moderate physical activities like running. The stronger your knees leading up to you going under the knife, the better your results. If possible, have a physio come up with a recovery plan before the surgery. What To Do Immediately After The Surgery www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Right after the operation, expect your knee to be swollen and painful. Regular icing, elevation, and use of a compression bandage will help. These things help the edema settle down quickly. Some post-op recovery features remain the same whether you’ve had a minor arthroscopy, an ACL reconstruction, or a knee replacement. Following knee injuries of any kind, the stabilizing quadriceps switch off, which leads to your thigh muscles atrophying. As such, you could experience feelings of instability and weakness. Your patella will also exhibit poor tracking. Address these issues through ‘quads setting,’ which activates your quads muscles and gets them back in shape for controlling your knees. First, you need to lie on your back and straighten your operated knee. Then, press the back of your knee to the ground, making sure you tighten your thighs’ front muscles. Hold the position for three to five seconds, relax, and repeat this ten times. Aim for three to four sets of this sequence per day. The swelling and pain will also cause you to lose your range of movement. Start motion exercises like bending and straightening your knee early on, so you can regain your range as soon as possible. Taboo topics need to be addressed through cinema

A

yushmann Khurranas film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan released a year ago in February. The samesex love story cast him as a gay person. The Bollywood actor says it takes time and effort to normalise topics that are prone to be hushed up by society. “Taboo topics need to be constantly addressed through our cinema because it can really help alter the mindset of people. It takes a lot of time and effort to normalise taboo subjects and bring about constructive changes in society. I’m glad that we tried to contribute towards making the conversation about same-sex relationships in India mainstream through Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan,” Ayushmann said. He added: “If it has had some impact on the minds of people, then we have done our job.” For him, the film was a success story because Indian families watched the film. “The fact that the film became a success, told

me that people want to engage and have a conversation on such important subjects. The fact that Indian families came out and watched this film was the biggest success story for me because our families can contribute so much to foster a spirit of inclusivity when it comes to same-sex relationships,” he said. Ayushmann recalled how many people in the industry advised him not to sign the film. “I was thrilled with the response towards this film because everyone told me I was doing a very tricky film and that no one would accept this kind of cinema. Instead, I was humbled with appreciation. The success of this film is in how it was accepted as a commercial film and how it has hopefully done its job to pave a path for many other films on such subjects to be made.” “I have always wanted to reach out and have a conversation with people about the subjects that I have addressed through my movies. I will continue doing that because it satiates me as an artiste and motivates me to discover more subjects like these,” he concluded. Source: IANS

DO YOU REALLY NEED FREE MONEY FOR YOUR CHILD FROM THE GOVERNMENT? Sandeep Ahuja Cont. from last edition

Different options available in case your child doesn’t opt for post-secondary education

If your child doesn’t intend to attend the college/university, you can keep the account open for up to 36 years. Moreover, you can transfer the money to another child (for Family RESP plans) though the $ 7,200-lifetime grant limit still applies. Not only that, you can withdraw your original contribution to the RESP tax-free or can transfer up to $50,000, to your RRSP (though for this, the child must be over the age of 21 and the RESP must have been open for at least 10 years having room for contribution).

Sets a good example for your children

RESP also sets a great example for your kids as it can teach them about the value and importance of

education so that they may make sustained and dedicated efforts to get higher education. As we have seen, RESP is not only a way to get ‘free money’ from the government. It is indeed a great tool that saves for your child’s post-secondary education offering you a tax free growth, plenty of investment options, assistance for low-income groups, flexibility of usage and educational value for children.

Hola Mohalla: Punjab’s rich and colorful tradition

A

day assigned for mock battles for his troops by the 10th guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh, has come to be the symbol of Punjab’s own rich religious and cultural tradition. The festival of ‘Hola Mohalla’, as it is known, takes place around Holi in the Sikh religious town of Anandpur Sahib. Hola Mohalla, celebrated a day after Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, has carved out its own unique place in Punjab’s and Sikh religion’s calendar. The

festival made its beginning around 1701 as Guru Gobind Singh wanted his troops to have mock battles to keep them battle ready. Tens of thousands of Nihang Sikhs assemble in this town, home to Takht Keshgarh Sahib, the second holiest of Sikh shrines (after Harmandar Sahib or Golden Temple in Amritsar), every year to be part of the festival. The shrine is famous as it was here that Guru Gobind Singh founded the ‘Khalsa Panth’, the modern day Sikh religion, in

April 1699. During the festivities, various sects (deras) of Nihangs go in a procession from the main gurdwara and pass through the holy town. The procession then culminates at a stadium where the Nihang Sikhs perform ‘Gatka’, a traditional form of martial art in which age-old weapons and equipment are used to showcase mock battles. “It is an amazing sight to see the Gatka performance. The festivity around the procession and the colorful atmosphere make it a great spectacle to watch,” travel writer and author Puneetinder Kaur Sidhu told in an

interview. Though the Hola Mohalla festivities earlier used to be essentially mock combat based, these have gradually also turned into a politico-religious affair. Leading political parties hold their political conferences before the main event. Millions of devout assemble at the shrine to offer prayers on the occasion. “It is such an enriching and unique experience to be part of the Hola Mohalla. We have been bringing groups of foreigners from various countries since 2009 to see the event. “They are amazed at what is on display. The weaponry and colorful atmosphere are a thing to experience,” Harkirat Ahluwalia, who runs a tented luxury farm resort near Hoshiarpur, 75 km from here, told in an interview. Ahluwalia even bought a group of 22 Germans for the Hola Mohalla in past few years. “The groups of Nihang Sikhs converge here on foot, on horse backs, elephants, trucks, tractortrolleys and other vehicles,” Sidhu said. “It is a spectacle.” In the buildup to the main event of Hola Mohalla, all roads and highways leading to Anandpur Sahib are choked with people being ferried on trucks, buses and other modes of transport. This year was no different — a virtual sea of humanity thronged Anandpur Sahib. By: Jaideep Sarin

Upskilling means to acquire new skills, learn new technology and fundae, and advance on a personal level by acquiring knowledge. Upskilling is the process of continuous learning which helps one adapt to the changing environment and perform the tasks they have much experience with even better.

U

pskilling involves undertaking training, reading fresh data and trends of the market and industry, and getting hands on with the latest technology as soon as it comes into the picture. While it is a task that requires effort and might seem like too much to work on initially, the benefits one reeps from it are endless. Let us go over why constant upskilling is necessary for anyone’s career. 1. It helps you digitally transform your workspace Once upon a time, basic tasks such as data entry and simple computing would take several hours. We have moved on into a world where we cannot imagine spending more than ten minutes on something as simple as these tasks, thanks to the exponential ways in which technology has transformed our work space.

16

MARCH 2021

Why Constant Upskilling is Necessary For Your

Similarly, upskilling enables one to acquire new digital skills to make their everyday tasks much easier and faster, freeing up time for other tasks- personal and professional. 2. It helps you adapt to the cultural shift It is important to stay aware of cultural changes that take over any field of work. The next generation follows the generational trends just like the previous ones have: they are fast paced, rely heavily on the tech of their times, and know hacks to get things done faster. This is a shift in the way people work as their desire for a more fulfilling personal life is much higher. In such a space, to collaborate effectively with others, it is important to know their culture, and upskilling enables one to relate and prepare for exactly that. 3. It reminds you that you need a global perspective Upskilling is a global phenomenon which requires people from across the world

to increase their productivity and productive capacity relative to how the rest of the world is performing. This shifts parameters of comparison from domestic to international, which means innovation is measured in terms of its global value. This sets in a mindset of growth that isn’t limited to growth within spaces and states but is focused on the entire world. 4. It helps you advance in your career faster than anticipated No longer are we in a world where promotions require a stipulated number of years in a company or working in a given vertical. Acquiring skills is not related to how much time one spends doing the same thing, instead it is about how many things one does and how many hacks they find to save resources. Hence, upskilling enables one to grow in their career outside of the outdated parameters of judgement for growth, letting

people progress several rungs ahead in a very short period of time. Final Words Upskilling is such an important task in the ever evolving world that in Singapore it is a national interest initiative. Upskilling is not a simple concept, neither is it the same for every vertical. It requires one to understand and show awareness of where their industry is progressing so that they can be on top of what is still to come. It is a space that requires agility and drive, and for those who are willing to go one step further and attempt the life-long-learning lifestyle, upskilling is nothing but an avenue to confront endless growth, personal and professional, through not only their career but also through life.

Hence it is natural that most of us resort to weightloss as a resolution. If you’ve made it past the “quitters” list and want to be a part of the 20 per cent who don’t drop out by the second week of February, here are a few key pointers to keep you motivated to achieve your weight goal.

Try looking at your resolutions as reflections Look back and observe what went right the last time you signed up to something, use that sense of accomplishment to sign up to your next task. The term ‘resolution’ could be daunting, so don’t let it overwhelm you. Do not overhaul your lifestyle with unrealistic changes as you will end up slipping into your old ways.

Pen it down People often keep a load of all the things that they’re going to do/change in a cloud of thought in their head. Physically penning it down on paper makes it tangible, and a lot more real. Affirmations act as a constant reminder in days of doubt, so use your time to make a list of all the things you’re proud of so far and all those that you’re going to be proud of soon. The universe has its way of patting you on the back. Be sure to throw it out there!

Be specific It’s very convenient to pen down, “get in shape”, however this resolution of yours can be made a lot more achievable with a -- “get in shape by taking the

stairs in my building”. These are small in scope but have a very high success rate in comparison to vague, broad-bracketed goals.

Baby steps Rome was not built in a day, and no one expects things to change overnight either. However, it is important to identify the tiny milestones by making small changes in your daily lifestyle. The first step for fitness is simple, say no to sugar -- switching from table sugar to low calorie sweeteners, swapping chocolate with sugar-free dark chocolate, consuming fresh fruit instead of canned juices, etc. These tiny changes take you a long way! I have observed a pattern of how most people who sign up to resolutions usually become complacent around the first week of February. With festive occasions like Valentine’s Day approaching, people find it hard to keep up to their resolutions especially if it has anything to do with sugar or calories. Here’s where your lifestyle and sweet tooth can enjoy alignment. Make simple changes in your day, like swapping white sugar for low calorie sweeteners to observe achievable results. Do not deprive yourself from indulging, but indulge right. You don’t need to completely give up your sweet cravings, it’s the sugar that needs the ditching. Resolutions are only the first step towards change. We’re only human, and temptation and lethargy are bound to find you. It is completely okay if you have almost given up as long as you identify the fact that you did and restart from scratch. We all stumble, but it’s those who get back up that make the difference. Don’t say no to your cravings. Eat sweet, but not sugar. In case you’ve stumbled upon a resolution hurdle and found yourself contemplating its worth, now’s your time to jump it and keep running. It’s never too late! Re-align but don’t resign! By: Puja Gupta

Kate Moss didn’t have a plan for career initially

S

upermodel Kate Moss, who was discovered at 14, recalls saying yes to all the work coming her way initially. However, she soon realised she needed to be choosy because she just couldnt juggle her erratic schedule. “I didn’t have a plan. I was always one of those young people who was just happy to be exposed to new things and experiences -- there wasn’t a plan or a route that I wanted to go down. But it soon got to the point where I just couldn’t fit all my engagements into the week,” Moss told Reader’s Digest, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “At that point I knew I had to get serious and be a bit fussier, but until then it was really just a case of taking the offers and seeing where they went,” she added. Moss wanted to travel the globe but never imagined landing in a career that would let her do so. She said: “My dad was in the travel industry and would always talk about how brilliant it was to see the world. Travel was a real ambition of mine when I was a kid. It quickly became my focus over school. Of course, I never dreamed that I’d be able to fulfil that through modelling, so when the opportunity came it was something I jumped at.” Source: IANS

Mila Kunis shares ‘yin-yang energy’ on screen with Oscar winner Allison Janney

H

ollywood star Mila Kunis can’t stop gushing about actress Allison Janney. Kunis says she loved working with Oscar-winner Janney in their new film because they share a yinyang energy. Kunis and Janney star in Tate Taylor’s upcoming “Breaking News In Yuba County”. The crime comedy follows a fictional small town and its residents as they try to uncover what really happened to a missing man. The film is at the same time a satirical allegory on news media and the hunger for fame, and Kunis plays an aggressive journalist named Nancy. “Nancy is a character I never really had the opportunity to play before, and you just have fun playing her,” says Kunis. While shooting the film, Kunis was struck by how effortlessly co-star

Janney would embody her wickedly neurotic character of Sue Buttons. “All my scenes are with Allison, and she and I have a very yin-yang, back-and forth energy. Allison brings everything to all of her characters, and she’s able to switch gears seamlessly. You can see her go from victim to driving force, and she adds a kind of sinister feeling. She brings so many layers to Sue,” says Kunis. “Allison is going to go down in history as one of my favourite actresses to work with and also as one of my favourite people. She, for whatever reason, can play a crazy person like nobody’s business,” she adds. The film also features Wanda Sykes, Awkwafina, Ellen Barkin and Juliette Lewis. “Breaking News In Yuba County”, is being lined up to be released in India by PVR Pictures on February 19. Source: IANS

In today’s generation, consumers have become more aware and conscious of harmful chemicals hidden in their skincare products. They have even become skeptical of using skincare that wear the claim of being “organic” and “all natural”, often questioning if these claims are just marketing gimmicks or more importantly, if the lack of chemicals may contribute to the skin care not being as efficacious.

J

agvir Singh, Founder and President, Refresh Botanicals shares five common misconceptions about organic skincare that will make you rethink your regimen:

Myth 1: Homemade Organic Face Masks and Lotions Work the Same as Organic Products You may believe that by whipping up a yogurt and honey smoothie in your blender and using it as a face mask will benefit your skin as would purchasing an organic face mask. However, often skincare brands extract organic molecules from organical, whole plant ingredients. While we’re all up for a DIY face treatment once in a while, the ingredients you find in your kitchen can’t really compare to the active ingredients found in organic skincare products. These special ingredients are usually extracted at the molecular level leaving, behind the most active and potent part for your skin care.

Myth 2: Organic Products are Ineffective

5 common myths about organic skincare products Many people are afraid of change and stick to a product that they are familiar with and have used for years. Unfortunately, many drugstore products have been diluted, watered down, and filled with an abundance of chemical preservatives to extend the lifespan. This means that while the product may offer quick results, you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting to see any real long-term benefits for the health of your skin. Organic products, on the other hand, are jam-packed with vital nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals at high concentrations that they truly feed your skin with the love that it needs. You’ll instantly get that “glow” that is often achieved with your latest smartphone filter except this time it’s real! Radiant, hydrated and clear skin. After just a few uses, your friends will be asking what you have been doing differently. Think of yourself as an ambassador of the earth share your secret: The use of organic skin care products has an everlasting effect on your skin health (and even the planet).

Myth 3: Organic Products Need

Preservatives to last longer Highly organic products often require premium packaging that are equipped with airless pumps. This prevents the highly organic plant material from oxidizing thus spoiling. When looking for organic skincare, look for airless pumps - meaning that the product is being pumped through literally being pushed out of the container.

Myth 4: Eating Healthy is Enough For Great Skin There is no argument with the benefits of eating clean, antioxidant-rich foods and drinking tons of water. However, a healthy diet alone is not necessarily enough for great skin. While everything you eat does have an impact on your skin, food cannot cleanse away impurities and environmental toxins the way a good face wash can, or provide a protective barrier on the skin the way a moisturizer can. For truly beautiful skin, be sure to eat healthy, exercise regularly, and practice safe, or-

ganic skincare. Organic skincare products should accompany a healthy lifestyle for a more youthful and fresher complexion.

Myth 5: All “Natural Types” of Skincare are Created Equal There is a thin line between “organic” versus “natural” products. Note that we use the word natural here, and not organic. While many products may claim to be “all-natural” on their labels, it doesn’t mean that their ingredients are in fact “organic”. Natural products often contain natural ingredients but may contain pesticides and other harmful chemicals. For a skin care brand to be able to wear the claim of “organic”, ingredient suppliers have to undergo a rigorous process where they are monitored for many years to ensure that their farming methods are free of pesticides, herbicides and chemicals. Additionally, skin care brands must ensure that their manufacturers follow stringent practices to ensure there is no cross contamination of organic and inorganic materials. In today’s time awareness about chemical-laden products is gaining momentum gradually, which is highlighting the importance of natural organic skincare products. This increased awareness is making more and more people to switch to organic products. While more people are making the transition, more become mindful about the use of chemicals in regular everyday products and are adapting to the natural organic skincare regime. By: N. With the change of season, a whole lot of spring cleaning is due. In addition to the cleaning one regularly does, the task of deep cleaning is humungous. Here are a few tips from the experts at the Urban Company to help you to overcome some of the most difficult cleaning challenges, and reach sports beyond the humble broom.

Deep cleaning

tips and tricks: Beyond the reach of humble broom

B

reak down the challenge: Depending on the size of the house or the fight in the cleaning army, you should break down the cleaning challenge. Identify the most difficult challenges like washrooms and kitchen, and take them on first. Both spaces have a whole lot of corners, fixtures, and equipment to be cleaned with really tough grease and stains. If you keep them for the end, you may get tired by the time you get around to cleaning them up. Stick to the basics: The first round of cleaning has to be a basic one-- dusting, wiping, vacuuming, washing, etc. Then comes the hard part, scrubbing, brushing, etc., and thereafter, closing the whole ritual with a final round of basics. Arm yourself with the right gadgets:

Cleaning everything with the floor mop, kitchen duster, or even the utensil scrubber will hardly get the stains out but surely wear you out. Similarly, it is important to get the right kind of cleaning agents, solutions, and equipment.

be used to unclog the drain, clean oven, ceramic stovetop, stainless steel, and even refrigerator. Similarly, lemon is an equally effective cleaning weapon in your pantry which can help to remove rust to stubborn stains.

Use gloves and homemade cleaning solutions: You may not be wearing gloves during regular cleaning, but during deep cleaning you may end-up using a variety of harsh cleaning reagents. Therefore, it is advisable to wear gloves and use homemade cleaning solutions. Domestic options like vinegar and baking soda are highly effective in removing toughest stains by themselves and even amplifying impact of detergents and cleaning solution. Baking soda in combination with vinegar, salt pastes, and other mixes can

Cut the Grease with a Hot Rag: Indian cooking leads to easy greasing of food which collects dust over time. You would find it easy to cut the tough grease on cabinets, slabs, etc, if you use a hot rag with a cleaning solution that has orange oil. Hot rag or sponge can be microwaved for 20-30 seconds or even in dipped in hot water. The heat helps to cut the oils in the grease and helps it come out easy. The orange oil is to leave a shiny coating. Use microfiber cloth or scrubs for cleaning: Microfibers have dual benefits. They are good collectors of dust, and are great cleaners. Plus, they help in giving finishing touch to fixtures, mirrors, tiles, etc. They are best used towards the final round of cleaning. The Rust Strains in Washrooms: Rusting of sinks, tubs, and toilets leaves some really hard stains. A good anti-rust strain remover would see you through this problem. However, it is important to caution against use of bleach for removing rusts as it will leave stains. Use stiff nylon brushes to clean toilets and make them look sparkling clean.Use Duct Tape on sofa and carpets: Yes, duct tape has yet another use cleaning, especially if you have pets like dogs and cats at home. Roll duct tape on a sponge or paint roller and use its stickiness to remove pet hair from sofas and carpets. However, we caution to use this first on a part of the mattress and sofa to see if the tip is actually working on the kind of upholstery you have at home.

T

here is a common misconception that we all seem to have when it comes to toners. We feel that they are needed only during the warmer parts of the year. For this reason, most of us skip using toners in winter, out of fear of it drying out our skin. But the fact is that toning plays an important role to keep your skin healthy. But before we go deeper into the benefits, let’s take a look at the basics:

Everything

you need to know about skin toners

What is a skin toner and why does our skin need it? In a nutshell, a toner looks like water and acts like it, but it’s not water. Good toners are packed with so much more than hydrogen and oxygen. Depending on the toner, it could also contain acids, glycerin, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories, points out Dolly Kumar, Cosmetic Engineer and Founder & Director at Cosmic Nutracos Solutions Pvt. Ltd., the parent company to skin care brand Skinella. If you want to get technical, a toner is a fast-penetrating liquid that delivers skin a quick hit of hydration and helps remove dead cells off the surface of the skin. The result is plump and glowing skin, she says. “It removes any remaining traces of dirt, grime, and impurities stuck in your pores after you wash your face. When added to your daily skincare routine and used regularly, it can have a major positive impact on the ap-

ture. This keeps your skin soft and bouncy. 4 Balancing the pH of your skin: Our skin’s pH balance can get out of whack after cleansing due to the alkaline nature of some soaps. When this happens, the skin needs to work overtime to return to its normal levels. This is where a toner can help by restoring this balance quickly. 4 Deep hydration: If your skin is dehydrated, it can appear flaky, dull, and dry. Using a toner can give you smooth, radiant, and evenly toned skin. 4 Prevents pores from clogging: Applying toner to a soft cotton ball or pad and gently blotting and wiping your skin can help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing.

She suggests how to use skin toner during winter

pearance and tightness of your pores. Toners also restore your skin’s pH level, smoothen your skin by refining rough patches, and improve skin tone. They also help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing. It reduces the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the

skin.”

Benefits of toner during winters, Kumar lists down 4 Improves skin texture: Toners prevent moisture loss, have the ability to naturally soothe the skin, and improve uneven skin tex-

4 Start by cleaning your face with a face wash suited for your skin type. 4 Choose one that’s free of harsh detergents and opt for products made with natural ingredients like superfoods. 4 A 2-in-1 Pomegranate and Tomato toner would be a great choice instead of using toners with harsh chemicals. 4 Then, dampen a cotton ball with the toner and apply it to your face. 4 Allow it to dry. 4 Always follow up with a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

of B vitamins, which help prevent disease and infection, reports WebMD. They are also loaded with vitamins C and E, plus natural plant chemicals that may help prevent cancer. Because they’re high in antioxidant phytochemicals (such as lutein and zeaxanthin), avocados may help prevent cataracts and macular degeneration, reports Ware. You’ll sleep better Not only do avocadoes taste great, but they’re also loaded with magnesium (19.5 milligrams for half of an avocado), which experts consider an anti-stress nutrient, says nutrition expert Elise Museles. In this month’s article we will be discussing possible reasons for why your cat may be peeing on your bed and wetting your sheets. There are many medical and even behavioral reasons behind this problem. In this article, we will be going through the behavioural aspects of this condition to prevent it from happening again.

“My Cat Keeps Peeing on My Bed!”

M

edical reasons include bladder stones, bladder infection, idiopathic cystitis, stress or anxiety. Please be advised that the following behavioral topics should be considered once your veterinarian has ruled out any medical causes via diagnostic tests. Behavioral issues can stem from major changes within the household, not enough litter boxes available, a wrong litter box location, unsuitable litter material or box, safety

reasons, etc.

Major changes within the living environment for the cat can be a large contributing factor towards abnormal behaviors, such as peeing on the bed. Such changes, for example, could be a new family member like a baby entering the household; a new pet (dog, cat, bird, etc) entering the house as well; timetable changes like being absent from the household more often or being there too much. These changes

can cause a disruption in your pet cat’s daily routine and schedule. Such changes can lead to stress and anxiety that then cause such behaviors. Cats prefer to be in environments that are under their control and are predictable. They do not like to be caught off guard and disturbed. These changes that may seem so miniscule to us, can play out to be very life changing for your feline companion. Since they cannot communicate their discomfort to us through speech, they then resort to communicating in other ways.

Another cause is the litter box. There are many issues that can arise around the topic of the litter box, as in the amount of them available in the house, the material of the litter used, the actual box itself and even the location of the box. Just like humans, there are different personalities for different cats. Some cats do not like to urinate or defecate in the same box every time. Some prefer to have a separate box for each floor of the house for easy access. Especially in the case of multiple cat households, majority cats do not like to use the same box together. They prefer to have their own separate areas to urinate and defecate in. A general rule to abide by for those who are in multiple cat households, it is important to have one litter box per cat. Some might even require more than one. It is also important to have at least one litter box on each floor of the residence. This is especially important for kittens and young cats, because just like human babies, they are not yet in full control of their urination and defecation holding times. Therefore, they may need accessibility to a litter box more quickly than adult cats that are better trained. A behavioral tip to remember is to never scold or punish your feline pet near its litter box. This is an example of positive punishment. Despite the word positive being used, it is in fact very negative for development. The cat will then associate the litter box to be something negative and will be prone to peeing on your bed more to avoid the box. It is also possible

28

MARCH 2021

that your cat does not like the certain material of the litter being used. Therefore, it avoids the material and pees on a comfier area, such as your bed. Certain odors available for marketed litter and texture of the litter can be distracting and actually uncomfortable for your cat. It is always recommended by veterinarians that odorless and clumping litter is the best to use. The type of litter box may also be an issue. It is better to use an easily accessible litterbox that is open and not restricted. Also make sure that the size of the litterbox matches with the size of your cat. Some owners will unknowingly provide a smaller box than needed and the cat will not find it comfortable to use then. Accessibility of the litterbox is another important point. It is wise to choose a location where the cat has no trouble reaching and using quickly. An open area that is on ground level is the best way to go. A crowded area or near another pet, such as a dog’s rest place, will feel unsafe to your cat and it will not want to use the box then. Therefore, safety is another concern to keep in mind. When your cat begins to pee on your bed, due to behavioral issues, it is important to keep in mind that this behavior can be easily prevented with cooperation of fulfilling your cat’s needs. We hope that this article has informed you to keep an eye out for the possible conditions of the litterbox or general concerns that may not be met within your household. These changes can easily be done; and your cat will then feel comfortable again to use the washroom where it needs to respectfully. Please consult your veterinarian first if such a problem is noted. Once he or she has determined it is not a medical cause, then behavioral causes can be focused on.

Ways to take care of your lips naturally

T

he skin on your lips is much thinner than the skin on the other parts of the body. This makes it easier for it to crack and chap and makes it much more important for you to take extra care of it.

Chapping This can occur almost in any season. 4 To prevent and treat, apply a good lip balm daily. 4 Do it in such a way that it slightly overlaps the edges of the lips. 4 Look for a balm which provides sun protection and has elements like Vitamins A, C or E and AHAs.

Splitting Cracks often occur after sleeping in dry air. 4 To prevent this, be sure to apply a good lip balm or a thick moisturiser before going to bed. 4 Also try to keep your lips as dry as possible, as bacteria in the air can cause them to crack.

Cold sores This is caused by viral infections and often look like blisters and open scabs. 4 To avoid re-infection, use cotton swabs to apply lipstick while sore is visible. 4 Also make sure that you do not apply a lipstick or a lip gloss if you have blister on your lips. This can cause

How to start a

zero waste

lifestyle

Z

ero waste lifestyle is another trendy internet term that is gaining more and more popularity, but it is definitely for the better. You might have heard of it, or even known about it for a while, but the task of switching to a new lifestyle that requires several extra steps of mindfulness can be rather daunting. With that in mind, here is your guide to starting a zero waste lifestyle that will make it much easier for you to transition, and even if you don’t make the complete move it will significantly help reduce your carbon footprint. 1. Invest in reusables for the kitchen Start with a water bottle, and then get yourself a collection of mason jars, food grade boxes, steel containers, reusable

32

MARCH 2021

towels and napkins, metals straws, and everything else. Do not make the mistake of throwing away everything in your kitchen to start with, that will create so much waste when you can simply avoid it. Instead prolong the life of items you would otherwise trash mindlessly, and make sure every purchase you make now onwards is oriented towards your zero waste goal. While you are at it, stock up on some reusable bags as well! 2. Grow your own when you can Buying anything from the grocery store means you will have to deal with packaging which is definitely going to end up in the trash. By growing your own veggies and herbs in the backyard or garden you can bring down all carbon emissions related to the produce you use. If you cannot grow your own, consider going to a farmer’s market on a weekly basis to get the supplies you need. You can also find cheese, milk, homemade cleaners, and other useful items there which come in little to no packaging which can also be recycled. 3.Start to recycle and compost As you start the journey, you will realise it is unrealistic not have any excess that you cannot use. The challenge is not to completely free your house of anything

that cannot be used, but rather recycle or compost whatever you cannot use. Dedicate a can to compostable waste and another to recyclable waste. Invest some time segregating through your waste efficiently and you will end up with waste that doesn’t end up in landfills after one use! 4.Practice the principles of self control Get into the habit of not buying anything that tickles your fancy. Everytime you are about to make a purchase take a small moment to consider the impact your purchase will have on the environment and whether or not you will produce waste upon this purchase. 5.Reduce what you use and get support from others too! By reducing the amount of things you use and rationing your supplies you will only use what you need, which in turn will relatively produce less waste. Start reading and researching about the newfound interest and interact with others who are looking to do the same to get support, encouragement, and inspiration! While it is impossible to entirely create no waste whatsoever, being careful of the amount you produce and then recycling, reusing, and composting to make up will definitely all add up to help achieve your goals of a sustainable existence.

Meenu woke up at around 11:30 A.M. Her head was aching badly. We fed Meenu with some light food and took her to Surrey hospital Emergency department again. A doctor checked Meenu and told that she had had concussions. Her head injury had impacted her brain too. I couldn’t help crying. Mom-inlaw consoled me and quieted me down. The doctor advised us to see our family doctor and get an appointment with a neurosurgeon soon. We came home. Meenu and Amrit went to their room, and I came into mine. We all got busy in our chores. In the evening, I called my mom in India. Dad told me that mom had diabetic problem and she was also having high blood pressure. I asked dad to take care of mom properly and not to worry about Meenu. I invoked god to help my mom, Meenu and her unborn child. A few weeks later, Baljit called me to tell that Canada embassy in India had called both of us for an interview. Meenu’s delivery was also due almost at the same time. My IELTS exam date and embassy interview date were also

almost very close. There were always some sorts of obstacles whenever I wanted to move forward in my life. I was unable to understand why it happened so. The next day, I canceled my IELTS exam date. I saw many advertisements of many Babas and Matas in some papers, claiming to solve all types of domestic, financial or career problems magically with guarantee. The other day, I called several numbers and told them my problems. Every one claimed he or she could solve all my problems in a jiffy. Someone told me that our neighbor had cast a magic spell on me. Another said one of my relatives had caused magic obstacles in our progress. Almost all of them wanted me to pay five hundred dollars by my credit card. I asked one guy to give me some proof before I pay him money. He asked me my date, month, year and place of birth, and told me some correct and some irrelevant stories related to me. Nobody could convince me fully. Therefore I trusted none. In India, my mom had also wasted lots of money on such things. “How could they afford to

put so expensive newspaper ads every week? They must be looting ignorant people a lot. Hey Waheguru! Only you are my saviour.”, I thought and prayed in my mind. I read Sukhmani Sahib once again that day. I tried to calm myself down, and started reading it a second time. 44. Spiritual knowledge I began pondering over Sukhmani sahib. Aad guray nameh, Jugad guray nameh “Aad means ‘the beginning’ and that line means ‘salute to the Lord who was there at the beginning’. When did this world start? When did the time start? I thought harder. I had read in my childhood that once the earth was a ball of fire. How long did it take to cool down?

5 common myths about diabetes Online platforms for consulting doctors witnessed an increase of 1200 percent in the number of diabetes queries since last year. This was followed by people seeking medical help for diabetes, especially after the disease came under the spotlight since the COVID-19 outbreak. 5. A special diet is required for diabetics This may be true in certain special cases as decided by your doctor. However, most diabetics need to follow a healthy dietary and lifestyle pattern which should be followed even by nondiabetics. What is more important is to have small frequent meals rather than 3 heavy meals, increasing fibre intake in the form of fresh fruits and vegetables, avoiding processed food (tinned/ready to eat meals/ bakery foods), increasing water intake, ensuring adequate sleep and having a brisk walk for 30-40 minutes daily with appropriate footwear. Crash diets should not be attempted as they will do more harm than good.

W

hile diabetes is becoming a global health issue, it is vital to know the details as it comes with lot of myths. On ‘World Diabetes Day’, Diabetologist at Practo, an online platform to consult doctors bursts six common myths about diabetes.

1. Only older people get diabetes Earlier, diabetes occurring in children and youngsters was considered to be type 1 (juvenile/ insulin dependent) diabetes. Nowadays, an unhealthy lifestyles is causing many youngsters to develop the more common variety of type 2 diabetes. Today, it is not uncommon for teenagers or people in their 20s and 30s to be detected as being type 2 diabetic.

2. Diabetes medicines should not be taken for long as they damage kidneys Many people stop their diabetes medicines once their blood reports are normal, fearing damage by long term usage of medicines. The truth is that stopping medicines will again cause the blood sugar level to rise and an uncontrolled blood sugar may damage not only the kidneys, but also eyes, nerves, heart, liver in the long run.

www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

3. Fasting and two-hour post lunch reports are within limits, I needn’t worry Your sugar level at other times of the day or on other days may not be within limits. Hence, you need to do a blood test called as HbA1c every 3 months which will tell you if you are well controlled in general over the past 3 months. Apart from that, lipid profile, kidney function tests, liver function tests, eye examination, feet examination should be done at least once a year or in some cases, more frequently, to detect any complications of diabetes at an early stage

4. Diabetes affects only those who eat more sugar Unfortunately, all Indians have a risk of developing type 2 diabetes (we are genetically more prone). However, it is not only the sugar intake but also, an unhealthy lifestyle that decides whether you will develop diabetes or not. This includes irregular meal and sleep timings, over intake of fast food/ oily food leading to weight gain, lack of adequate exercise. Healthy habits needs to be inculcated right from childhood. For all the mothers out there, a chubby child is not a healthy child! MARCH 2021

The pandemic has normalised work-from-home and study-from-home scenarios, leading to increased face time between parents and children in the new year. While both parents and children benefit from this time together, it can be increasingly challenging to drum up tasks to keep children occupied and engaged, as parents seek to complete workrelated tasks.

The Rainbow Nation of South Africa has always been immensely popular with Indian parents, especially as the destination offers safe, entertaining and educative experiences for all age groups. Usher in 2021 with South Africa-inspired activities to keep the little ones occupied and engaged, right inside your homes.

While South Africa’s delicious signature dish -- the Bunny Chow (also simply known as the ‘bunny’) is widely known in in the Rainbow Nation, very few Indians know about it. A curry lover’s answer to a lunch box, the dish consists of a hollowed-out loaf of white bread -- basically a bread bowl -- filled with meat or vegetable curry. It is often served with a side of grated carrot, chilli and onion salad.

The curry is a thick homage to homecooked stews, lightly flavoured with Indian spices such as coriander, turmeric, and cumin. While traditionally the curry was made of vegetables or beans, today there are several nonvegetarian takes on the original. A bunny chow prepared in quarter, half, or full sizes, and is usually eaten with fingers by tearing off pieces from the top or sides and dipping it into the curry. With DIY recipes easily available on YouTube -- this is one great activity to bond over! It also comes with a good dose of colonial history for those interested in learning about origins of dishes.

Activity 2: Watch an early morning or late-evening South African safari Virtual safaris prove to be an excellent channel as they not only entertain and amaze, but also educate -- and are hence a huge hit with parents who otherwise sought out edutaining summer vacations/ camps for their children. One such popular game reserve offering virtual safaris is the South African www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Shamwari Game Reserve. This 5-starlodge that stretches along the Bushman’s River is based in the Eastern Cape, which was home to the great Nelson Mandela. Wrapped in settler history, this award-winning game reserve is known for its quality of game sightings, and is now bringing safaris into homes with the Head Ranger. The veteran ranger delivers a range of information -- from the basics of tracking and identifying wildlife footprints to masterclasses on giraffes and interesting trivia on the indigenous flora and fauna species found on the reserve.

Activity 3: Visit a World Heritage site and get to

learn about the Gandhiinspired Nelson Mandela Nelson Mandela spent 18 immensely challenging years in prison on this little island situated less than 5 miles off the coast of Cape Town and yet emerged from it filled with forgiveness instead of hatred. Robben Island is now a World Heritage site and museum. Although from the 17th to the 20th century the island was a place of imprisonment -- today it is a beacon of hope and a place where visitors can gain some insight into the life and times of Nelson Mandela and fellow freedom fighters. Google offers a narrated tour -- complete with a visit to Mandela’s 6.5 x 6.5 foot cell -- led by Vusumsi Mcongo, an anti-Apartheid activist who was imprisoned on Robben Island from 19781990. By N. HERE’S TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S UNPRECEDENTED MOVE TILL DATE! Amid the increasing and intensifying COVID-19 travel restrictions in Canada, the federal government recently announced the record-breaking Express Entry draw at 75 CRS (comprehensive ranking system) points for Canadian Experience Class under Federal Skilled Worker with inviting 27,332 skilled workers to apply for their Permanent Residency in Canada.

T

he year 2020 has already been full of some unpleasant surprises. On the contrary, it seems that the year 2021 has bestowed some pleasant surprises for the immigrants in Canada. Firstly, the post graduate work permit extension for a further of 18 months was a rare yet thoughtful action by the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) in achieving the immigration targets for 2021 despite of the hustle in rebuilding the Canadian economy amid the COVID-19 crisis. The second shocking yet considerate and tactful move of the Federal government was the unusual draw for the Express Entry conducted on Saturday of the long weekend in February 2021 which served as a ray of hope for thousands of temporary immigrants in Canada. This program began in 2015 and since the program’s commencement, this draw is the lowest Express Entry draw recorded in the immigration history. Prior to that the lowest express entry draw was conducted at 413 in September 2017. The unusual draw of February 2021 has some of the following astonishing revelations/facts: a) The day the draw was conducted: Usually, the Express Entry draw is conducted during the weekdays (mostly Wednesdays to Fridays), but this draw was conducted over the weekend, on a Saturday. b) CRS Score: The most recent CRS score recorded before this draw was at 454 for CEC on January 21, 2021. There was a steep decline in the latest draw in which the CRS score dropped down to 75 for CEC conducted on February 13, 2021. c) Invitations issued: Hav-

MARCH 2021

ing a look at the last year (2020) EE draws, the number of invitations issued ranged to maximum of 5000 approximately however this time, IRCC issued 27,332 ‘Invitation to apply’ to the registered candidates in the Express Entry pool. It was almost five times more than ever recorded in the history of EE system inception. d) E ligibility: Earlier any candidate registering in the Express Entry pool within Canadian Experience Class needs to have a single/ multiple post secondary education credentials, years of experience and a remarkable command over English/French language. This recent draw, however, has changed the entire eligibility pattern where a candidate with a minimum of CLB 5 score, a year’s experience with no or high school education can qualify to get an invitation which seems strange but true. After the draw was released, Attorney David Cohen quoted, “Today’s draw was almost six times larger than the previous Express Entry record of 5,000 ITAs. This goes to show Canada is committed to achieving its goal of welcoming over 400,000 immigrants this year.” In one of their official statements during the press conference, IRCC claimed that, the candidates who received the invitation, their ‘status may be temporary, but their contributions are lasting – and we’re hoping to help more of them stay permanently’. It now seems like the government is all set to achieve its 2021 immigration targets. Moving forward, all eyes are on the next Express Entry draw. Stay Tuned for more updates. R. Learning wine

etiquette The festive season is here and for many of us this year is about entertaining at home, in small groups. If you are hosting a celebratory soiree, wine is an integral part of it. Master of Wine, Sonal Holland, helps you demonstrate the best wine etiquette with these simple tips.

Tip 1: As a host, there is always one general rule to follow, which helps you never go wrong. Be generous with the wine you serve. Nothing is better than building great memories over a bottle of wine, so ensure you choose wisely and well. Tip 2: The festive season is a great time to experiment, when hosting intimate gatherings! We all have our tried and tested wines that we go back to, but why not expand your guest’s palettes by serving as many styles of wine as possible? When hosting a wine party at home, try to create an assortment of different bottles of wine, your guests can choose from. The beauty of wines is about enjoying the diversity of its various styles and discovering new tastes. Tip 3: It’s important to invest in good quality stemware to serve wine. It’s a fact that the taste of even the most ordinary wines is enhanced when served in proper glasses. Choose clear stemware with no design or cuts. Ensure the glass has a lovely, steady base, a stem to hold the glass with, a broad base at the bottom of the bowl, and narrow rims. Keep it simple yet high-quality, and you will never go wrong.

www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Tip 4: When hosting an evening at home, chances are that some of your guests will arrive with gifts of their own, many times, a bottle of wine. It becomes your duty to ask your guests if they would like you to open their bottle and serve the wine to the guests - often, wine-loving guests make a lot of effort to choose and bring a good quality bottle of wine to a party, and would therefore appreciate you and the rest of the guests, trying what they have brought. At other times, some guests are simply recycling bottles of wine they don’t want for themselves, so may not be comfortable with you opening their bottles at the party. Either way, it’s important that you ask them first, to let them decide if their bottle should be opened at the party or saved for later. Tip 5: As a host, especially one who loves wines, it is absolutely fine for you to take the stage so to speak, to tell your guests a little about the wines you’ve chosen for the evening, and why. The only tip is: know when to stop. A few amusing, informational anecdotes about the bottles chosen are charming; anything more and you stand to lose your audience! By: Puja Gupta

Contd. from last edition 4 Inhaled corticosteroids. These medications include fluticasone propionate (Flovent HFA, Flovent Diskus, Xhance), budesonide (Pulmicort Flexhaler, Pulmicort Respules, Rhinocort), ciclesonide (Alvesco), beclomethasone (Qvar Redihaler), mometasone (Asmanex HFA, Asmanex Twisthaler) and fluticasone furoate (Arnuity Ellipta).
You may need to use these medications for several days to weeks before they reach their maximum benefit. Unlike oral corticosteroids, inhaled corticosteroids have a relatively low risk of serious side effects. 4 Leukotriene modifiers. These oral medications — including montelukast (Singulair), zafirlukast (Accolate) and zileuton (Zyflo) — help relieve asthma symptoms.
Montelukast has been linked to psychological reactions, such as agitation, aggression, hallucinations, depression and suicidal thinking. Seek medical advice right away if you experience any of these reactions. 4 Combination inhalers. These medications — such as fluticasone-salmeterol (Advair HFA, Airduo Digihaler, others), budesonide-formoterol (Symbicort), formoterol-mometasone (Dulera) and fluticasone furoate-vilanterol (Breo Ellipta) — contain a longacting beta agonist along with a corticosteroid

triggered or worsened by allergies. These include: Allergy shots (immunotherapy). Over time, allergy shots gradually reduce your immune system reaction to specific allergens. You

generally receive shots once a week for a few months, then once a month for a period of three to five years. Biologics. These medications — which include omalizumab (Xolair), mepolizumab (Nucala), dupilumab (Dupixent), reslizumab (Cinqair) and benralizumab (Fasenra) — are specifically for people who have severe asthma.

Asthma action plan Work with your doctor to create an asthma action plan that outlines in writing when to take certain medications or when to increase or decrease the dose of your medications based on your symptoms. Also include a list of your triggers and the steps you need to take to avoid them. Your doctor may also recommend tracking your asthma symptoms or using a peak flow meter on a regular basis to monitor how well your treatment is controlling your asthma

MANISH’S ZODIAC PREDICTIONS - march 2021 Manish Kumar Arora, 91-9871062000

Aries (March 21- April 20)

This month will see expansion through philosophy, travel or education. It promotes the flow in your life so that things are easier than they have been in the past. You will find ways to express your unique identity in the outer world, preferably while promoting social justice.

Leo (Jul 23 - August 23)

You might encounter a physical or emotional blockage that demands healing before you move forward. If you do not recognize your feelings, a situation may drop in from the sky that will remind you of circumstances of the past. You will be prone to overreact.

Sagittarius

What's your #Astrology sign? Select your Astro sign and read below.

Taurus

(April 21- March 20)

You will be preoccupied in issues ranging from the mundane study of the budget to important discussions with partners over the need for greater intimacy. You may be organizing business issues related to an inheritance or your own legacy. You will back out of unviable professional commitments.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 23)

A new vision for your life will take its place as the month moves forward, but be patient. It will be your responsibility to maintain the opportunities you’ve been given. You will be adding new spirit to an ongoing relationship. Many possibilities for reaching people will develop.

Capricorn

(November 23 - December 21)

A pervading sense of ambivalence is creeping into your life just when you think it’s safe. You’ve been putting too much emphasis on some form of security: a relationship, job or lifestyle. It is holding you back as you’re overlooking an opportunity right in front of your eyes.

( December 22 - January 20)

You should be inspired to achieve greater spiritual understanding by clearing your mind of past thoughts. Being true to yourself will bring about the happiness you seek. Progress will be made and stability is just around the corner! Take this inspirational energy and put it to good use.

Gemini

(May 21-Jun 21)

This is a propitious time for you to begin new things, especially if they involve travel or communications. Give special attention to investments and other shared resources. Ease up on the energy output. Your physical body may feel sluggish and your primary focus should be on internal healing.

Libra (September 24- October 23)

This should be an exciting month; something long in the making will show signs of fruition. There are still some loose ends that need to be tied up, though. You are setting and achieving goals and you must also learn compassion to manifest your best results.

Cancer (Jun 22- July 22)

You will feel the need to mature and to solidify your identity, in a new or additional field of work. Changes have come into your life through relationships with those who have minds of their own and they will teach you to set boundaries and claim your independence in a relationship.

Scorpio (Octo. 24-Nov. 22)

Positivity, affirmations, being kind to yourself, celebrating your talents and successes – all of this will create fertile soil for your dreams to take root and grow. You will need to let go of any desire to have power over others and focus on developing your inner strength.

Aquarius (January 21 - February 18)

Concentrate on your strengths and abilities and let go of what you cannot complete or what you don’t possess. Start creating very specific financial plans and goals to get yourself there. It will help.get your life on track and put more trust in your own thoughts and ideas.

Pisces (February 19 March 20)

You are in the midst of warmth, brightness, and beauty. Keep reaching for the skies, to stay connected with nature and grasp the full power of your capacity and set yourselves free from all restrictions. Work on self-care, self-assessment and the choices you need to make in life.
