6 IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF LIFE INSURANCE

L

Sandeep Ahuja

ife insurance is an immensely beneficial tool that offers you financial protection against the risk of death. But there seems to be a lot of confusion in general about the concept due to varied reasons such as the complex nature of life insurance and people’s tendency to avoid discussing about their demise. Below mentioned important aspects about life insurance will help you understand the concept so as to enable you in making the wise decision to invest in life insurance.

Life insurance helps compensate for the inevitable financial consequences arising due to the death of the insured. It lessens the sudden financial burden of the family members at the time of unexpected death of their loved one. The family can use the claim benefit to pay the funeral expenses, outstanding debts and mortgages, planned educational expenses and lost income. Thus, a life insurance policy can provide valuable peace of mind to the policy holder as he is assured that it would come to the rescue of his loved ones in case he ceases to exist.

Life Insurance is an immensely beneficial financial tool

6

JUNE 2022

If you have financial dependents, it is vital that you should purchase life insurance. Your spouse or dependent children necessarily require financial protection. But, even if you are someone’s ex-spouse, sibling of a dependent adult, a child of dependent parents, an employer, an employee or a business partner, you may need to purchase insurance. On the other hand, if you are stably retired or financially independent and your absence won’t cause financial hardship for anybody, then you don’t need life insurance. However, you can use life insurance as an effective financial tool.

A life insurance policy involves four primary stakeholders/key persons These are- the insurer, the owner, the insured and the beneficiary. Insurance company is the insurer which provides life insurance coverage and pays out claims in the case of a death. The owner of the policy pays premiums to the insurance company. The person upon whose life the policy is based is the ‘insured.’ And finally, the beneficiary is the person, trust or other entity who will receive the claim (death benefit) in case the insured dies. For example, Mr. A is both the owner and the insured for a life insurance policy with XYZ insurance company (insured). He will pay the premiums to the insurance company. His spouse Mrs. B is the beneficiary. So, she will receive the death benefit in case Mr. A dies.

Choices available for life insurance

for life insurance, we can broadly categorize life insurance into Term Insurance and Permanent Insurance. While on one hand, Term Life plan offers protection with minimum expenses but limited features, Universal Life plan offers most comprehensive coverage and features by investing more payment in the premiums. In term life insurance, the policy premium is based upon the probability that the insured will die within a stated term—typically 10, 20 or 30 years. The premiums are guaranteed during the opted term after which they can escalate. But, in permanent life insurance, the premiums are guaranteed for life. Permanent life insurance offers cash build up within the policy.

Consult an advisor inperson if you plan to purchase life insurance Though online tools can provide you initial assistance in gaining a general idea about financial requirements (premiums) of life insurance policy, when you actually intend to purchase insurance, it’s always better to consult an expert insurance agent. Since the agent is well aware of the related procedures for application and underwriting and, has a better understanding of various insurance carriers offering insurance, he will help you in choosing the

best option available at affordable rates keeping in mind your health condition and financial capability.

If you intend to cancel an existing policy that you consider is inappropriate, proceed carefully If you feel that your present insurance policy is not appropriate or, you don’t require it anymore, take necessary steps before cancelling it. If you need to replace an existing overpaid policy with an appropriate one, buy the right policy coverage before cancelling the existing one. It’s indeed important because with the passage of time, any change/complication in your health condition may also render you ineligible for a new policy, leaving you without any coverage. A timely consultation with an experienced advisor will help you in getting proper coverage in place before you cancel the existing policy.

Children are a gift from God!

S

ometimes, in the hustle of taking care of these kids that are supposed to be a gift to us, they can feel more like a heavy burden. Caring for kids can feel like draining work. If we don’t find a proper balance between caretaking of our family and investing in our own self-care it can be easy to miss out on the daily joys of a childhood unfolding before your eyes, family-life, and the legacy that you have the honor of passing to your children.

Children are beautiful, full of joy, the radiant light in this dark world. No matter what part of the world, no matter what ethnicity or background, children

are always a blessing.

Children remind us that we need to play more, love more, laugh more, and that we need to never stop learning. They remind us that the future and what we fight for now, is for them and for their children. They remind us of the responsibility we have to provide and protect. They motivate us to do some of the most dangerous work there is to be done…because they are worth fighting for! They remind us that life is fragile and that life is priceless. So, one should always learn from the little ones as they can also teach you lessons that will change the way you live your life.

individual eligibility requirements. These are jointly managed by the federal and provincial governments of the respective provinces. The main purpose of the PNP is to spread the benefits of immigration across Canada. Generally, an individual applying for a PNP must have the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to the economy of that specific province or territory. They should want to live in that province, and want to become permanent residents of Canada Each PNP has a minimum of one

immigration stream that helps to access the Express Entry system and no matter what the stream be, to apply for PNP one needs to follow the paper-based or online process, followed by passing a medical examination and police clearance. Express Entry awards benefit in terms of additional 600 CRS points which can guarantee a PR invite from any of the provinces. Another major benefit is they can have their permanent residence application processed by the federal government quicker, typically within six months.

In the end, I would like to say that we are committed to providing honest, open and transparent immigration advice when interacting with our clients. We follow stringent, ethical and professional guidelines of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy is a highly recommended treatment as it is proven to be very helpful for arthritis. Joints get weakened by damage or inflammation. This therapy helps patients to manage their arthritis pain, work around it to enhance the level of mobility and comfort. An Occupational therapist guides you

to protect your joints from strain and damage to avoid more joint pain issues. TENS therapy: TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a physical therapy technique that uses small pulses of electricity to target areas of arthritis pain. Electrodes are placed on the skin covering the painful joint. Then a very low level of electricity is passed into joints to temporarily relieve the pain. Diathermy: This method of heat therapy uses ultrasound, radio or microwaves, or electrical currents to heat the tissue inside painful joints. The heat helps in killing damaged cells that cause pain in joints which results in easing your arthritis pain. Massage: Massage therapy is another mostly recommended treatment for arthritis symptoms by rubbing muscles and joints, kneading, massaging. This will enhance the blood flow and improve the circulation of blood to the painful areas. No individual can get rid of arthritis pain, they can only reduce the symptoms to help you improve. It will maintain the use and enhance the mobility of your joints, reduce pain and stiffness. One might have to continue the treatments in order to keep their arthritis pain under control. If you’re experiencing regular pain in joints, then it is the right time to consult your physiotherapists. If you’re in Vancouver, Surrey, or in the Fleetwood location of British Columbia, MJPhysio has the best treatment for Arthritis. www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

All you need to know about cat scratch disease In this month’s article, we will be discussing a notorious disease found in some feline companions, known as Cat Scratch Disease. This condition arises from the bacteria known as Bartonella henselae, which is zoonotic in nature.

T

his means that this disease can be transferred to humans from cats. Transmission occurs from either a bite or a scratch from a cat to a human. This disease is also commonly referred to as ‘Bartonellosis’ or ‘Cat Scratch Fever’. Bartonella henselae can be found in the feces of fleas which find their habitat on the cat’s skin. Cats can transfer this disease to one another through the

sharing of fleas. Ticks can also be carriers of this bacteria and spread it to cats. When cats scratch themselves from the fleas, this bacteria will stick to the cat’s nails. Hence, when a cat scratches a human, the bacteria will then easily enter the human skin it encountered. When a cat is infected, the common symptoms he or she will experience is

fever, lethargy, swollen lymph nodes, vomiting, stiff and sore muscles, red eyes, lack of appetite and a history of fleas or ticks will be present. If your cat is experiencing any of the listed signs, we highly recommend seeking immediate medical care from your local veterinarian. At this point, your veterinarian may choose to conduct a few tests to confirm a diagnosis of Cat Scratch Disease. Common tests that may be performed are known as Western Blot, Immunofluorescence, ELISA testing or a PCR test. Once an official diagnosis has been made, your veterinarian may prescribe a course of antibiotics. With certain patients, your veterinarian may also choose to wait and observe a selflimiting process take place. Some cats are able to produce antibodies against this bacteria on their own, and in this case the symptoms will be mild on presentation and self-limit their existence. If there are no at-risk individuals at home from the cat, then the veterinarian may wish to opt for this option to allow the cat’s immune system to fight the disease on its own. Majority of the cases do resolve within

18

FEBRUARY 2022

a few weeks of given treatment. It is important to place your cats on flea preventatives in order to avoid this condition entirely or to avoid reoccurrence. Keeping your furry companions away from wooded areas is essential in protecting them against exposure of ticks that may also carry this bacteria. Keeping your cat’s nails trimmed well is another precautionary step that can be applied to ensure less exposure of the bacteria’s resting place. As a human, if you have been scratched by a cat, it is wise to immediately wash the wound with soap and water to best prevent the bacteria from entering your body. Immunocompromised individuals may benefit from regularly having their cats checked for any bacteria or conditions present in order to keep themselves safe as well.

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’: Performances and comic elements lift this 2.0 version By: TROY RIBEIRO Duration: 143 minutes Director: Anees Bazmee Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Tabu, Kiara Advani, Rajpal Yadav, Amar Upadhyay, Sanjay Mishra, Karmveer Choudhary, Rajesh Sharma, Govind Namdeo Rating: *** Meant to be steeped in mystery, with the usual ingredients of a ghost-centric film, replete with evil spirits and tantra-mantra, Anees Bazmee’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, a sequel of the 2007 film of the same name, is an absolute entertainer, its exaggerated horror elements and slapstick humour, notwithstanding. Manjulika, envious of her twin sister Anjulika, who is always the recipient of lavish praise from their father and gets the better deal in life, including the Kunwar (Amar Upadhayay), whom she secretly loves, kills Anjulika and takes her place. Thence she impersonates her sister for 18 years, till Ruhan Randhawa (Kartik Aryan), who upon a chance meeting with a Medical student, Reet Thakur (Kiara Advani ), accompanies her (Reet) to the family haveli in Rajasthan to help cover up a lie. How they unravel the truth and present it to the world forms the crux of the 143 minutes narrative. Kartik Aaryan shines as the fun-loving and confident Ruhan Randhawa, aka ‘Rooh baba’ in his comic avatar, and exudes charm aplenty. He is every inch the character and gets a massive platform to emote, dance, and display his acting prowess. The only scene where he is a let-down is owing to his poor Bengali accent in the Manjulika avatar. Kiara Advani, as Reet, looks gorgeous and is competent, essaying her part with conviction. Tabu, with her ace histrionics and get-up, does justice to her meaty role as the muchloved Bhabhi in the haveli, and her character, with its myriad shades, are full of intrigue.

The screenplay is complex but astutely handled. The plot appears to be a wee bit convoluted, and at times, confusing.

Overall, one naturally, goes with a lot of expectations to watch ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, comparing it to its prequel, but this one too sparkles in its 2.0 avatar.

The song ‘Aami je tomar’ by Shreya Ghoshal is as soulful as ever and evokes nostalgia. The background score has been used aptly. The intended jump scares and squeaky sound effects to create horror are a bit over-the-top in some scenes and ineffective- too. Although the one-liners and punches are filmy and trite, they are well-delivered and situational and thus, evoke laughter. Breakfast mistakes you should avoid

W

e have always heard “Eat Breakfast like a King” but in today’s rushed world everyone’s meal timings are scattered, sleep is erratic and they want to look a certain way, cutting calories is affecting their breakfast intake every day! Breakfast is an important meal because you are literally breaking your fast (8-10 hours minimum) and to get started with the day, your body needs the right fuel. Eating a balanced breakfast is important as it kick-starts your metabolism, your blood glucose metabolism is much better throughout the day, and it boosts your energy levels and also helps you make better meal choices throughout the day. Breakfast is also given a lot of importance in Ayurveda as that is the time our body’s ‘pitta’ (fire or metabolism) is at its peak. Sahiba Bhardwaj, a Nutritionist & Nutrition Educator helps us look at some common breakfast mistakes that could hamper our metabolism. Skipping Breakfast: Eating late at night or trying a new diet, cutting calories or maybe you simply don’t

have the time to eat breakfast. This is the biggest mistake you can make as it will not only dampen your metabolism but also increase your chances of developing health problems like high blood cholesterol, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. But a balanced breakfast can lower those risks and fuel you for the rest of the day.

down in the body and hence keeps you full for longer. So make sure your Breakfast has good quality protein that is paired with complex carbohydrates and good fats. Eggs, smoked salmon, nut butter, yoghurt, and paneer are all good protein options. Stay clear of processed meat (sausages, salamis, seeks, bacon etc.)

Bite-Sized Breakfast: Eating just a fruit or a small bite-sized breakfast will leave you hungry and affect your mental focus. Not eating sufficient calories during the day may leave you munching on unhealthy energy-dense snacks later in the day and may lead to weight gain. However, eating a good filling breakfast fires up your metabolism and helps you burn calories throughout the day.

Saying No to Carbs: Another grave mistake is leaving out carbohydrates completely. You don’t have to say no to them, just choose wisely. Include Complex Carbs that are slow energy releasing and don’t spike your blood glucose levels and give you energy through the day. Some good ones are steel-cut oats, upma, poha, sandwiches, cheelas with veggies are some options. Avoid loading up on Simple carbs (fruit juices, waffles, pancakes) on a daily basis as they can lead to a sudden dip in energy levels mid-morning

Speedy Eating: Sit and eat. We have always heard that but we tend to ignore it. Always in a rush, we tend to eat fast and take large bites of our food. This as per some studies increases the odds of obesity as it may lead to overeating. Also, as per Ayurveda, when you sit and eat your food, chewing it properly, it improves digestion and absorption of nutrients. So slow down, and savour each bite of your breakfast. Going low on Protein: A proteinpacked breakfast has more benefits than just feeding your muscles. Protein takes longer to break

22

JUNE 2022

Don’t fear fats and include healthy fats in your breakfast in small portions with your proteins and carbs. Adding avocado or a tablespoon of nut butter to your toast, adding nuts & seeds to your cereal or smoothies, and cooking cheelas in desi ghee are good ways of adding healthy fats. Unsaturated fats and the Omega-3 fatty acids from nuts & flax seeds are good for the heart too. By: N. Lothungbeni Humtsoe

A Girl in a Whirl

Continued from issue (Part 63)

The next day, we came to Edmonton by air. We saw the mall where an indoor beach had been made under a roof. Nancy, Sam and I enjoyed the artificial tides there. I cannot express how beautiful my world has turned. All three of us were very fond of joy rides. We also enjoyed the rides in the mall. Nancy was very happy with Sam. I was overjoyed to see Nancy so happy. We returned to Surrey after having a very sweet memorable trip. Sam went to his work the next day. I told Meenu and her momin-law about our pleasure trip. They were very happy for us. Sam had shown us another part of heaven in Canada. “Sam, I have something to give you happy news.”, I said shyly to Sam the other day when he came home from work.

“Sonia, you and Nancy have come back in my life, what else could be happier for me than that?”, Sam said, turning romantic with me. “No Sam, I was saying that you…you…”, I couldn’t finish what I wanted to say.

“You…you…what? Sonia ji. Has any mistake been committed by me? Now please tell me.”, Sam asked me. “Yes, you have committed a mistake and you will be punished for that too.”, I changed my tone dramatically and said in a royal style. “You can punish me in any way by staying with me. If you went away from me, I won’t be able to live now.”, Sam said and turned serious. “You will have to give us more time.”, I pronounced.

stop going to work from tomorrow onwards. Just order!”, Sam said very bravely. “Not that much! You know I mean… cute, lovely and little… Sam is coming to join our family.”, I stuttered and disclosed finally. “Good heavens! Brrrrrrrrrrrr Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! O’ Balle balle balle! We are going to become four from three. I was dog-tired but you have freshened me completely with this great news.”, Sam let out a typical Punjabi joyful scream once again and began dancing bhangra.

A father always has your back Anyone can father a child, but being a dad takes a lifetime. Fathers play a role in every child’s life that cannot be filled by others. This role can have a large impact on a child and help shape him or her into the person they become. Hence, it is rightly said that fathers are the strength behind the upbringing of a child. The Daughters adore their fathers and search for the same loving personality in the man they fall in love with. The sons are inspired by their fathers for the strength and support they receive in abundance from the fathers and father figures in their lives. Even for the grown ups, fathers will remain to be looked up to for wisdom and advice that is in the best of interest. Hence it becomes our responsibility to pay their due respect and tribute not just on Father’s Day but every other day of our lives. We bring you some beautiful thoughts from a few men who have shared how their fathers shaped their lives and what fatherhood means to them.

W

hen we talk about kids we always talk about mothers and their sacrifices, but no one talks about fathers and their support to fulfil our dreams. For a son, the father can play like a kid, give advice like a friend and protect like a bodyguard. For daughter, father is her first hero. Father is a pillar under whose roof

O

ur friends and family play a large role in who we are today, and who we will be in the future. The biggest influence may come from our family, and for me it is my father. He is a person of great character and integrity. He has shaped me into the person I am today by teaching me

eing a father means being loyal, honest, and strong no matter if times are good or bad. It’s setting an example and being everything your child needs you to be, whenever they need it. It’s the most important duty a man can hold.

I

think being a father is the greatest gift of God. When I look at my daughters looking up to me as their superhero, it motivates me to be the best version of myself. I think being a good dad is to simply love our kids for who they are unconditionally. To be their safe “place”. Most special memory with my dad: I remember when I was a kid, my dad would take us to the fairs, get us candy, balloons etc. And how my siblings and I used to look forward to going to those fairs. Every time he came home,

Fathers teach important skills like confidence, resilience, respect, and kindness to their children. It is extremely important that as fathers teach their children about values, they also focus on teaching and modelling self-confidence, resilience, respect, and kindness. he would bring us candies. Those were simpler times than today’s times, but I guess the joy of being a father is the same.

Children who grow up with involved fathers experience better mental, emotional, educational, and social

outcomes. Watching your kid grow up to be their own person is amazing seeing their interests, personality, and character develop is something a lot of father’s treasure. Seeing him learn and grow, develop his sense of humour and self, and seeing the world through his eyes when we experience things as a family. A dad’s role is to be there for their children in every way they need their dad. A dad’s role is to provide loving, caring support that helps the child flourish as they grow into a mentally healthy, stable adulthood. - Kanwardeep Ahluwalia

I don’t think being a father is an easy job, but I do think being a good father comes naturally to you when you embrace each and every moment. Watching my girls grow and do new things each day fills my heart with love and pride. It takes a lot of patience, perseverance, and love. We are all human and sometimes it gets tiring and overwhelming, but in the end, it’s all worth it. - Sunny Chhabra

Here’s why UV rays are harmful to both skin and eyes

I

f you believe that applying sunscreen will protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun this summer, think again. Your eyes, too, require attention. UV rays are not only harmful to the skin, but they can also harm the eyes. “UV exposure has been linked to the development of macular degeneration, cataracts, and other vision-loss problems,” says Dr Danish Iqbal, Senior Consultant, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals. If you have an existing eye condition, such as macular degeneration or cataracts, he recommends that you protect your eyes from the sun as much as possible during the summer. Dr. Danish shares some simple

tips that will protect your eyes in summer.

Wear sunglasses: Use 100 per cent Ultraviolet (UV) protection sunglasses. The harsh UV rays can damage your eye lens, cornea and even retina. So whenever you head out, make sure you put on your shades. Splash clean water in the eyes: Your eyes are stressed throughout the day due to severe heat and exposure to the sun. Rinse your eye by splashing cold water on them periodically and drinking a lot of water. This will keep your eyes from becoming dry or puffy. Do eye exercises: Eye exercises help us to reduce tiredness and improve the eye muscles. Exercising your eyes daily also improves your eyesight and

manage other eye problems. However, you should also consult a qualified ophthalmologist before choosing your eye drops.

Use cucumber slices: If you are suffering from red eyes in summer, apply slices of cucumber on your eyelids for 10 minutes before you sleep. Cucumber also helps remove tan from under the eyes and absorbs extra moisture.

Increase intake of green leafy vegetables: In the summer season, increase the intake of green leafy vegetables as they are rich in both lutein and zeaxanthin and are also a good source of eyefriendly vitamin C. Well-known leafy greens include spinach, kale, collards etc.

Nourish it with eye drops: It’s always better to use some kind of eye drops to minimize pain or

Sleep well: Your eyes heal themselves as you sleep. Insufficient sleep can lead to dry, itchy, or bloodshot eyes. Lack of proper sleep at night leads to fewer tears in the eye and it may open the door to eye infections. By: IANSLife

end to get sweaty on the dance floor. It’s all for good reasons. The shimmies, the shakes, the pirouettes, and the backflips burn a lot of calories and do a lot of other amazing things for your body. Dancing is one of the greatest pleasures. It comes with music, beats, and synced motions to express the unsaid emotions. Whether it’s a party or just spending time with yourself, there is always an undeniably irresistible reason behind moving to a good beat.

While dancing is just plain fun and moving, there are some good reasons to do it every day. Increases the Calorie Burning 4Walking burns: 100 to 200 calories in 30 mins. 4Dancing burns: 200-400 calories in 30 mins. 4Running burns: 200-400 calories in 30 mins. 4Swimming burns:

200-250 calories in 30 mins.

4Cycling burns: 200-300 calories in 30 mins. You may anticipate burning 100 to 200 calories by vigorously walking for 30 minutes. If you opt to run or swim, the quantity may be greater. When you choose continuous dancing, though, you may burn up to 400 calories in the same amount of time. Even a gentle or simply coordinated movement for 30 minutes can burn the same number of calories as swimming or cycling. On the internet, there is a popular saying that if running is like driving on a freeway, dancing is more like driving through a bustling city. Dance has such great results because it involves voluntary movements in all directions. In running, walking, or swimming, there is constantly an accelerating force; yet, in dancing, there is always synchronised deceleration and acceleration. Positive impact on Flexibility, Endurance & Strength Torching calories is not the only upside of dancing; it impacts the flexibility, endurance, and strength

cing is ody of your body. Unlike straight-up running, which aids up-down and side-to-side motions, dancing activates even the lower-body joints, muscles, and tendons. The omnidirectional movements train and activate many tendons and small muscles.

A comparative study on Balance & Flexibility between Dancers and Non-Dancers shows that dance has put a positive impact on fitness variables balance and flexibility. There is another conclusive report that says an Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is less common among dancers than among other sports players. Mood and Mind benefits Dancing, like any other physical activity, appears to improve your mood and mental wellness. According to a UCLA health research study published in 2021, free-flowing dancing motions resulted in good mental health effects for individuals who chose to dance. A total of 1,000 patients suffering from anxiety, depression, and trauma took part in the study. Almost 98 percent of dancers’ mental health improved after they practised and let their bodies move with the flow. Dancing helps with improved energy, a buoyed mood, and lowered stress. Influence on the White Matter of the Brain A study published in the journal ‘Frontiers in Ageing Neuroscience’ compared the effects of walking, stretching, and dancing on the white matter of ageing brains. The study connected dancing to increased ‘white matter’ integrity in elderly people’s brains. White matter in your brain is made up of connective tissues that might deteriorate over time. The deterioration causes issues with processing speed, reasoning, and remembering. A dance may do great things for your psychology. For many years and decades, therapists have recommended dancing as an excellent treatment for social anxiety and fear of speaking in public. The rationale for proposing dancing is to relax before performing a backflip in front of strangers. If you can perform a backflip in front of an audience, you will be less self-conscious when it comes to public speaking. Dance promotes socialising and building relationships with others. All you need to know about eczema Dr. Pargat Singh Bhurji

MD,FRCP ( C ) Consultant Pediatrician Surrery BC

A

topic dermatitis (eczema) is a condition that makes your skin red and itchy. It’s common in children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare periodically. It may be accompanied by asthma or hay fever. No cure has been found for atopic dermatitis. But treatments and self-care measures can relieve itching and prevent new outbreaks. For example, it helps to avoid harsh soaps, moisturize your skin regularly, and apply medicated creams or ointments.

4 Itching, which may be severe, especially at night. 4 Red to brownish-gray patches, especially on the hands, feet, ankles, wrists, neck, upper chest, eyelids, inside the bend of the elbows and knees, and in infants, the face and scalp. 4 Small, raised bumps, which may leak fluid and crust over when scratched. 4 Thickened, cracked, scaly skin. 4 Raw, sensitive, swollen skin from scratching.

itchy skin. You scratch the area, which makes it even itchier. Eventually, you may scratch simply out of habit. This condition can cause the affected skin to become discoloured, thick and leathery. 4 Skin infections: Repeated scratching that breaks the skin can cause open sores and cracks. These increase the risk of infection from bacteria and viruses, including the herpes simplex virus. 4Irritant hand dermatitis: This especially affects people whose work requires that their hands are often wet and exposed to harsh soaps, detergents and disinfectants. 4Allergic contact dermatitis: This condition is common in people with atopic dermatitis. 4Sleep problems: The itch-scratch cycle can cause poor sleep quality.

Causes

Prevention

Healthy skin helps retain moisture and protects you from bacteria, irritants and allergens. Eczema is related to a gene variation that affects the skin’s ability to provide this protection. This allows your skin to be affected by environmental factors, irritants and allergens.

4 The following tips may help prevent bouts of dermatitis (flares) and minimize the drying effects of bathing: 4 Moisturize your skin at least twice a day. Creams, ointments and lotions seal in moisture. Choose a product or products that work well for you. Using petroleum jelly on your baby’s skin may help prevent development of atopic dermatitis. 4 Try to identify and avoid triggers that worsen the condition. Things that can worsen the skin reaction include sweat, stress, obesity, soaps, detergents, dust and pollen. Reduce your exposure to your triggers. Infants and children may experience flares from eating certain foods, including eggs, milk, soy and wheat. Talk with your child’s doctor about identifying potential food allergies. 4 Take shorter baths or showers. Limit your baths and showers to 10 to 15 minutes. And use warm, rather than hot, water. 4 Take a bleach bath. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends considering a bleach bath to help pre-

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) signs and symptoms vary widely from person to person and include: Dry skin

In some children, food allergies may play a role in causing eczema.

Risk factors The primary risk factor for atopic dermatitis is having a personal or family history of eczema, allergies, hay fever or asthma.

Complications 4 Complications of atopic dermatitis (eczema) may include: 4 Asthma and hay fever: Eczema sometimes precedes these conditions. More than half of young children with atopic dermatitis develop asthma and hay fever by age 13. 4 Chronic itchy, scaly skin: A skin condition called neurodermatitis (lichen simplex chronicus) starts with a patch of

34

vent flares. A diluted-bleach bath decreases bacteria on the skin and related infections. Add 1/2 cup (118 millilitres) of household bleach, not concentrated bleach, to a 40-gallon (151-litre) bathtub filled with warm water. Measures are for a U.S.-standard-sized tub filled to the overflow drainage holes. Soak from the neck down or just the affected areas of skin for about 10 minutes. Do not submerge the head. Take a bleach bath no more than twice a week. 4 Use only gentle soaps. Choose mild soaps. Deodorant soaps and antibacterial soaps can remove more natural oils and dry your skin. 4 Dry yourself carefully. After bathing gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel and apply moisturizer while your skin is still damp

Diagnosis 4 No lab test is needed to identify atopic dermatitis (eczema). Your doctor will likely make a diagnosis by examining your skin and reviewing your medical history. He or she may also use patch testing or other tests to rule out other skin diseases or identify conditions that accompany your eczema. 4 If you suspect a certain food caused your child’s rash, tell the doctor and ask about identifying potential food allergies.

Medications 4 Creams that control itching and help repair the skin. Your doctor may prescribe a corticosteroid cream or ointment. Apply it as directed, after you moisturize. Overuse of this drug may cause side effects, including thinning skin. Other creams containing drugs called calcineurin inhibitors — such as tacrolimus (Protopic) and pimecrolimus (Elidel) — affect your immune system. They are used by people older than age 2 to help control the skin reaction. Apply it as directed, after you moistur-

ize. Avoid strong sunlight when using these products. These drugs have a black box warning about a potential risk of cancer. But the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology has concluded that the risk-to-benefit ratios of topical pimecrolimus and tacrolimus are similar to those of most other conventional treatments of persistent eczema and that the data don’t support the use of the black box warning. 4 Drugs to fight infection. Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic cream if your skin has a bacterial infection, an open sore or cracks. He or she may recommend taking oral antibiotics for a short time to treat an infection. 4 Oral drugs that control inflammation. For more-severe cases, your doctor may prescribe oral corticosteroids — such as prednisone. These drugs are effective but can’t be used long term because of potential serious side effects. 4 Newer option for severe eczema. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved a new, injectable biologic (monoclonal antibody) called dupilumab (Dupixent). It is used to treat people with severe disease who do not respond well to other treatment options. This is a newer medication, so it doesn’t have a long track record in terms of how well it helps people. Studies have shown it to be safe if used as directed. It is very expensive.

Therapies 4 Wet dressings: An effective, intensive treatment for severe atopic dermatitis involves wrapping the affected area with topical corticosteroids and wet bandages. Sometimes this is done in a hospital for people with widespread lesions because it’s labour intensive and requires nursing expertise. Or, ask your doctor about learning how to do this technique at home. 4 Light therapy: This treatment is used for people who either don’t get better with topical treatments or who rapidly flare again after treatment. The simplest form of light therapy (phototherapy) involves exposing the skin to controlled amounts of natural sunlight. Other forms use artificial ultraviolet A (UVA) and narrow band ultraviolet B (UVB) either alone or with medications. Though effective, long-term light therapy has harmful effects, including premature skin aging and an increased risk of skin cancer. For these reasons, phototherapy is less commonly used in young children and not given to infants. Talk with your doctor about the pros and cons of light therapy. 4 Counseling: Talking with a therapist or other counsellor may help people who are embarrassed or frustrated by their skin condition. 4 Relaxation, behaviour modification and biofeedback: These approaches may help people who scratch habitually Consult your health care provider before starting any treatments. www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Open Kitchen 101 S ometime in the late 1930s (yes, that long ago), visionary architect Frank Lloyd Wright established the concept of Open Kitchens - a modern, airy take on the most important space in the house.

This fundamental shift in design not only improved the overall aesthetics of the house but also resulted in numerous behavioural and cultural changes. It transformed the kitchen into much more than just a place to cook. The open kitchen layout’s island and peninsula (cooking counter) define the kitchen and delineate cooking zones with built-in cooktops, hanging chimneys, sinks, and prep stations for home chefs to indulge their passion for cooking. This design

also includes a communal area for conversations, dining, and homework.

Now, in many countries across the world, we are finally seeing a wider adoption of the open kitchen style, either to combat space constraints or to add a playful space to the home. The pandemic influenced the need for an open kitchen even more because more family members were now involved in the kitchen. Many celebrities have become chefs, displaying their stunning open kitchen layouts.

Nidhi Vaish, Founder, Yellow Brick Road Designs share expert tips to adopt contemporary kitchen design with ease: Plan the island space: The Island,

which serves as a prep station, dining table, and entertainment/ community table, is the focal point of any open kitchen layout. It is a defining space that separates the counters from one another. It can also serve as storage underneath for small appliances, utensils, and crockery, or it can be used to house a built-in dishwasher or an oven, saving space.

Flat surfaces add more room: If you want a sleek and streamlined kitchen, go with built-in appliances and leave the counters bare to ensure a flat surface. Integrating wine coolers and refrigerators behind cabinet doors alongside the cooking counter is a simple way to accomplish this. For cooking (and to ensure noise-free, odour-free venting), consider a built-in venting hob that keeps the cat in the bag!

Higher counters: If you want to cook discretely while maintaining an open layout, raise the island counter. This helps to obscure those in the living room’s view. Higher counters not only have slick designs but also save a lot of space. The breakfast bar can also function as a room divider, separating the kitchen from the rest of the room. The increased height will also provide more storage space beneath, allowing you to experiment with a pullout bar unit. To liven up the high counter, add chic high stools. Avoid over-accessorising: The purpose of an open kitchen layout is to provide more space (even in a large house). The space’s minimalism elevates the overall experience of the house. This means that one should refrain from over accessorising it with decor items such as art pieces, etc. Place some low-maintenance indoor plants and succulents on sidewalls, and add a pastel painting or hang a shelf above the island counter in case cooking is done on the other counter. Just this much will suffice!

The Siemens Venting Cooktop features an induction air System design that reflects a thorough understanding of modern kitchen concepts: Cooktop and ventilation combine to create a refined and eye-catching appliance. Above all, the ventilation is consistent with Separate out the pantry: One the design of the cooktop and its user interface: complex in concept of the most effective ways to declutter the kitchen is to but simple in execution. designate a small, side nook/ Furthermore, if you want a room or partition for pantry chimney, you can choose the items. The Art of Balancing Family and Entrepreneurship

N

eedless to say, being an entrepreneur is immensely fulfilling because of the complete freedom you get from pursuing what you truly believe in. But that also comes with long, erratic, and vigorous hours that can be taxing because you are the one making all the decisions. Lines between personal and professional lives start becoming blurry, and before you know it, non-existent, and the drive and motivation with which you first began, can sometimes start to fade somewhere along the way owing to never-ending work. This is why it becomes very important to be able to differentiate life from work, successfully, because success means nothing without self-satisfaction and happiness. To me, the family has always been a source of my happiness and spending time with them always takes my stress away! Even when I started my own company, my family were my biggest cheerleaders and that continues to date, but I always ensure the right amount of balance between quality time with them and work. My mom has always and will be my inspiration in life. Just growing up with her has made me look at the world with such a sanguine perspective, and I’ve tried imbibing all of her traits to the highest potential, though I’m sure I cannot achieve the level of perfection with which she has led her life. She has absolutely never let her work come in the way in which she has always supported her family and I think when you grow up with such an ideal role model, you start to easily see right from wrong.

www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Now that I’m a mother myself, I realise the effort that goes into maintaining that balance can be quite tricky and can lead to slip-ups ever-so-often if you’re not extremely mindful. So, I too, am continuously trying to be the same mother to my kids, albeit not as nonchalantly! In my personal life, I practise a few lessons to maintain this balance. Like, when I’m on a trip with my family I ensure that I don’t let work-related stress or even work calls for that matter take me away from being present in that moment, additionally, I try to not check emails post 8 pm unless absolutely essential. I manage my time effectively and get the most done during work hours so I can just as effectively spend quality time with my hus-

band and kids at home. Entrepreneurship comes with its own set of challenges. For example, as is the case when you’re starting anything from an idea’s incubation, building it up further requires a lot of your time. This means weekends usually look lonely, the hours in the day feel insufficient compared to the quantum of work, the inspiration tends to start running low when you’re not seeing adequate results in the short-term and this can lead to frustration to a point of sometimes even giving up. Having sailed in the same boat, I can vouch that a family’s encouragement and presence on a bad day make all the difference. If there is one thing

I endorse, it is not losing yourself in the process of building something new because it would’ve been all for nought. A few tips to ensure striking the optimum balance would be to structure and plan the day better with the goal to achieve maximum output in between work hours so you can utilise the rest the way you’d like. Another would be to remove a mandate on ‘me-time’ during the day. For me, it would be my morning runs and workout time. Lastly, spend as much time with your loved ones as you possibly can. Nobody will have your back as they do! By: Vineeta Singh

Top 10 destinations for a

summer break It’s summer, and travellers are ready to go on vacation after more than two years of staying at home. However, by using the ‘travel now, pay later’ option available at POS with travel merchants, travellers can pay over time and enjoy a vacation they never thought possible. Given the ease of purchase, many international destinations are gaining popularity in the summer of 2022: Thailand Travellers are choosing Thailand for its tranquility and thrill after the Thai government removed restrictions and given the benefit of being able to repay for the trip over three to six months. It’s no surprise that Thailand is always at the top of the list of travel destinations. Furthermore, Thailand’s vibrant nightlife, pristine beaches, beautiful temples and lipsmacking food

ALL ABOUT DENTAL IMPLANTS cure your denture with dental implants. If you wear dentures, this may be the solution to all your denture problems. And if you have a lot of missing teeth, this may also be an excellent option to restore your smile and confidence.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS? For dental implant surgery, one needs to evaluate the quality and quantity of bone, any gum disease if present, age and generalized health of the patient, You’re an ideal candidate for a dental implant if:

Dr. Nisha Garg

WHAT TO EXPECT IF WE HAVE MISSING TEETH One can have problem of missing teeth at any point in life. Tooth loss can be due to trauma, accident, severe gum disease, tooth decay or even due to poor oral hygiene. If missing teeth are not replaced, they can lead to various consequences such as: 4 Difficulty in chewing 4 Speech problems resulting from the gap created by one or moremissing teeth 4 Face may start look older and wrinkled with sunken cheeks asmissing teeth can cause sagging of muscles which can’t supportlips and cheeks 4 Tooth decay and gum disease, over time, due to plaqueaccumulation & food entrapment in the gap caused by the missingteeth 4 Untreated missing teeth may dent the facial appearance causinglow set-esteem or lack of confidence 4 Hiding smile during conversations or at public gatherings to avoidthe embarrassment caused by a bad smile from missing teethMissing teeth can be replaced by number of options, among these dentalimplants being commonly used these days.

WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT? There are great advantages to choosing a dental implant for tooth replacement over other options. Dental implants are conservative because missing teeth can be replaced without affecting or altering the adjacent teeth. Furthermore, because dental implants integrate into the bone structure, they are very stable and can have the look and feel of one’s own natural teeth. A dental implant is a small, titanium screw that is surgically placed within your jawbone. This screw will bond with natural jawbone, creating a stable foundation for your tooth restoration. A dental implant is a replacement for your missing tooth’s root. Not only does it fuse with your bone like a root, but it also stimulates and preserves your bone structure. An abutment is placed between the implant and crown to connect all of the pieces together. Typically, a dental implant is a single crown

replacing one tooth. But dental implants can also support multiple missing teeth with a bridge and even secure dentures. Depending on your specific condition and the type of implant chosen, your dentist will create a treatment plan tailored to meet your needs.

4 You’re in good general and oral health. 4 You have adequate bone in your jaw to support the implant. 4 You have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF DENTAL IMPLANTS?

WHICH TYPE OF DENTAL IMPLANT IS BEST FOR YOU?

There are many advantages to dental implants, including: 4 Improved appearance: Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent. 4I mproved comfort: Because they become part of you, implants eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures. 4 Better eating: Dental implants function like

your own teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods with confidence and without pain. 4 Improved confidence: Dental implants can give you back your smile and help you feel better about yourself. 4 Improved oral health: Dental implants don’t require reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. Because nearby teeth are not altered to support the implant, more of your own teeth are left intact, improving long-term oral health. Individual implants also allow easier access between teeth, improving oral hygiene. 4 Improved speech: With poor-fitting dentures, the teeth can slip within the mouth causing you to mumble or slur your words. Dental implants allow you to speak without the worry that teeth might slip. 4 Durability. Implants are very durable and last many years with good care, and maintenance. 4 Convenience. Removable dentures have to be removed every time.. Dental implants eliminate the inconvenience of removing dentures.

Dr Amit Garg MDS, (Oral and maxillofacial surgery) PGIMS, Rohtak, India Dr Nisha Garg MDS (Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics) Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, Punjab, India

Here are some of the possible treatment plans depending on your situation: 4 Single Tooth Dental Implants: If you’re missing a single tooth, one dental implant can replace it. 4 Multiple Tooth Dental Implants: If you’re missing several teeth, they can be replaced by multiple dental implants. When you have multiple missing teeth adjacent to each other, you may find your best option is an implant-supported bridge. Typically, a bridge consists of two crowns on either side of your missing tooth gap with an artificial tooth held by those crowns in between. Now, instead of having the crowns attach to teeth, an implant-supported bridge has crowns that connect to dental implants. The process is similar to a single tooth dental implant. However, the teeth missing in the middle of the gap will not receive a dental implant. 4 Full Mouth Dental Implants: If you’re missing all of your teeth, they can be replaced by full mouth dental implants. 4 Replacing All Your Teeth: Use An ImplantRetain Denture If you are missing a majority or all of your teeth in an arch (upper or lower), then an implant-retained denture may be your best option. 4 What is an implant-retained denture? A denture is an artificial arch of teeth. It rests on your gum line and gives you the appearance of a full set of teeth. The problem with traditional dentures is that they are removable, which means they can slip, slide, click, fall out, and make daily tasks uncomfortable like eating and talking. To fix this problem, you can permanently sewww.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Ever wondered why we have a special name for a certain number of years in our life? That’s because this period is truly unique. It is what we call teenage years. While these are some of the best years of life before you hit adulthood, this time is also characterised by loads of stress. The stress could be related to examinations, friends circle, personal image or the changing physical self.

10 steps to successful teenager skincare

A

ll this takes a heavy toll on teenage skin which calls for a dedicated regime to protect and nourish it.

rubbing it too harshly would rob your skin of its moisture, leaving it dry and itchy. You should always avoid using soap and go for a mild cleanser instead.

Dr. Gagan Bhatia, founder of Uniqaya said, “Typically, teenage skin can encounter issues such as acne breakouts, excessive oil production, blemishes, whiteheads and blackheads, sunburns or even eczema. Teenage skin becomes sensitive due to changing hormonal structure of the body and thus requires extra attention”.

Moisturising Your Skin: You should always apply a moisturiser at least twice a day to maintain the hydration levels of your skin. This is an important step to keep your skin soft and supple. You should invest in a good moisturiser that not only protects your skin but also repairs it from within.

that every time you touch your face, you are introducing more dirt and bacteria and spreading the oil. This simply means more chances of a breakout. It is also important to never pop your pimples. This increases inflammation and spreads infection on the skin.

Follow these few steps which to maintain excellent skincare and thus be confident and comfortable in your skin shared by Dr. Gagan:

Sunscreen: Sunscreen protects

your skin even inside the house and not just when you are out in the sun. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 should be a mandatory part of your skincare routine.

Nighttime skincare routine:

Gentle Cleansing: It is important

to first understand your skin type and use a good cleanser that complements it. You should always use a gentle circular motion while cleansing your skin as

Exfoliation once a week:

Hormonal changes usually cause your pores to clog due to excessive oil production. Exfoliation is a game-

with all the accumulated dirt on your skin may prevent the skin to heal, thus causing more acne breakouts.

Avoid touching your face too often: Be mindful of the fact

The skin repairs itself at night. Using the right products on the skin before bed can enhance the healing process. It is important to wash your face, apply a moisturiser, a lip balm and then hit your bed.

changer when it comes to unclogging them but one should be mindful not to overuse it. While there are plenty of exfoliators available in the market, there are some excellent homemade scrubs too.

Acne Treatment: Acne is the

common teenage enemy. It is always a good idea to check with a skin specialist who can prescribe a chemical composition suitable to your skin type. There are some very famous anti-acne compositions available like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide etc.

Do not sleep with the makeup on: One cannot stress

enough how important it is to wash your face before bed. It is a well-known fact how your skin repairs itself at night. Leaving makeup on or sleeping

Eat a balanced diet: You should add loads of green vegetables to your diet. Consuming fried and oily food will only create more room for problematic skin and aggravate all existing skin troubles. A well-balanced diet is a key to good skin. Follow a healthy lifestyle:

Being responsible for your body as a teenager will not only bless your teens but also pave the way to good adulthood ahead. Your skin is what you eat and how you feel. It reflects your overall health. Following a healthy lifestyle enriched with a good diet, exercise and good sleep will show on your skin and make you glowing and radiant.

vtar Virdi is embarking on a Cross-Canada Walk for BC Cancer, a fundraising walk from St. John’s, N.L. to Vancouver, B.C, beginning in June 2022 in support of research and care at BC Cancer - Surrey. Avtar’s goal is to finish his walk in one month or less. It is predicted by the Canada Health Department that every second Canadian will suffer from Cancer once in their lifetime, it was way shocking for Avtar and his family when he was diagnosed with cancer, twice. First in Jan 2017 and then again in December, 2020. He says he has never ever abused his body with tobacco or any kind of drug except doctor’s prescription and wondered why he suffered from cancer. He survived by God’s grace, for his wonderful family’s great support and his very positive and strong will. He read about Terry Fox and was greatly inspired by his small but great life. Due to cancer, doctors had to amputate Terry’s right leg up to knee in order to save his life. But unfortunately, the cancer spread to his lungs. In 1980, with an exemplary spirit despite his half leg being gone to cancer, Terry Fox started his walk from St. John’s N.L. and created a legacy of himself. He spread awareness about cancer and raised over one million dollars for research to find treatment of cancer. Virdi feels he owes his life to Terry Fox. After surviving twice from cancer, he realized he was still alive due to Terry’s great thought for people like him. He feels Terry Fox is still alive in the hearts of all who know about him and have suffered

from this critical illness directly or indirectly. He wishes cancer to be eliminated from society in future and nobody suffers from the excruciating pain he has gone through, or he is going through even at present. He has decided to follow Terry Fox, starting his walk this June and reminding the whole world to save more and more people from cancer. This is a great challenge for him as he is not an athlete. His family is worried about him. However, he is determined to go for it. Inflation and the rising cost of living in Canada I

By: Tarun Babuta (Realtor) Century 21 Coastal Realty

nflation is a process in which money loses some of its value. A supply crunch of too much demand chasing too few goods or services can cause inflation. This results in paying higher costs for the same item. The inflation rate affects almost all goods and services you will need to pay more for essentials such as food and housing. Overall, this will increase the cost of living. According to a new survey more than half of Canadians can’t keep up with the rising cost of living. More Canadians feel stressed about money as inflation rates continue to grow. The basic day to day necessities such as food, gasoline and energy are the key factors adding to the cost of living to household bills. Canadian’s budgets are getting squeezed with the rise of inflation. With rising housing, gasoline and grocery prices driving inflation, the survey found that 53 percent of respondents reported not being able to keep up with the rising cost of living. When it comes to emergency expenses, 51 per cent reported they would be unable to cover an unexpected $1,000 bill, including 14 per cent who said they couldn’t manage an emergency expense of any kind. Households with children appear to be feeling financial pressure and were more likely to report cutting back on spending and savings. Nearly 40 percent of parents said they face challenges paying for childcare. Inflation affects all parts of the world, but it affects some more than others. Within Canada, you will find that in some cities, goods and services are very expensive compared to other cities. Vancouver is Canada’s most expensive city. The real estate market is very expensive and hard to get in for an average Canadian

www.entertainmentmagazine.ca

family. Rent is not cheaper either. On the positive side, Vancouver does offer many benefits. Vancouver city provides many jobs and it is easy to find jobs as compared to other cities in Canada. Vancouver gets little to no snow with mild winters and cool summers. If you love the outdoors, Vancouver also offers many outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, swimming, biking, etc. Overall, the city is a great place to live if you can afford the housing market.

prepared for an uncertain financial future is an investment in yourself. One that will increase your future earning power.

Life in Canada may be expensive but living in one of the best places in the world is never going to be cheap. Training yourself to plan out and stick to a budget is one of the best habits you can have. It will protect you from constant overspending and will help you correct it if you do. MANISH’S ZODIAC PREDICTIONS - june 2022 What's your #Astrology sign? Select your Astro sign and read below.

Manish Kumar Arora, 91-9871062000

Aries (March 21- April 20)

This is time to plant a creative seed-you are inspired with a new project or plan. This is a strong time for romance. Negotiations run smoothly, charm works, and a positive connection can be made with a person of a markedly different background than you.

Leo (Jul 23 - August 23)

This is an especially introspective cycle during which you have the chance to truly uncover your personal strengths and talents. On a more practical level, you may be dealing with joint finances and shared resources now more than usual. It’s time to carve your own path in life.

Sagittarius (November 23 - December 21)

It’s time to do something selfexpressive, fun, and creative. You could feel an overwhelming need to pour your heart out to a lover, or a romantic affair reaches some sort of epiphany. There could be a whirlwind of activity surrounding your child or children.

Taurus

(April 21- March 20)

You’re feeling brave, independent, and eager to begin new projects. There is much initiative now, with personal involvement in new ventures or undertakings. You are striving for independence and freedom of movement in everyday affairs. The key now is not overstating yourself.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 23)

Gemini

(May 21-Jun 21)

You may enjoy key opportunity periods that boost your self-confidence, and do wonders for your ego and your relationships, particularly if your relationships or your own confidence in the way you present yourself to others is in need of healing. New financial initiatives are best avoided however.

Libra (September 24- October 23)

You have presence and you project confidence. You are in the position to make an impression on others, and to assert your personal influence beyond its normal boundaries. Spontaneity of expression is what this transit is about. A renewed feeling of confidence is with you now.

Your disposition is more intellectual than usual now, and self-expression comes easy. You are sharper than usual--more observant, and more inclined to “live in the head”. Relationships with siblings, neighbours, classmates, and casual friends may become more prominent in your life now.

Capricorn

Aquarius

( December 22 - January 20)

Your focus is on making contacts and reaching out to others in both social and professional sense. It’s a time to turn inner restlessness into fruitful contact with others. The flowing, expressive, and spontaneous energy surrounding you attracts like-minded and hearted people.

(January 21 - February 18)

This month, your focus is on balancing time between your career and your social agenda. You might draw upon your executive ability now. It’s a busy month for business and work; at the same time, socializing and romance also figure prominently. Love matters are mostly easy and amiable.

Cancer (Jun 22- July 22)

This is a time when you let loose your softer, receptive side. Romantic matters, as well as pleasure-seeking activities, come to the fore now. You are more likely to pay closer attention to your physical appearance and mannerisms, aiming to improve and enhance your attractiveness.

Scorpio (Octo. 24-Nov. 22)

Enthusiasm and confidence are with you now, and it’s easy to tap into your more unique qualities and talents in order to go after what we want. This is a time to do what you can to build trust in your family life and a strong foundation within yourself.

Pisces (February 19 March 20)

Your magnetism revolves around mysterious fascination rather than outgoing charm. Intensity appeals in your relationships. This can also be a time in which you discover untapped resources or talents. It is a good time to work out money problems or other issues of sharing with a partner.
