ollywood actor Anupam Kher will be seen portraying the character of politician Jayaprakash Narayan in Kangana Ranaut directorial, ‘Emergency’. Jayaprakash Narayan was among the prominent leaders who stood against the Emergency.

Anupam says: “Kangana’s interpretation of J. P. Narayan is 12 fascinating. She believes and it’s also the truth that J. P. Narayan is a hero of the film not just because I am playing the character but because that’s what he was. Her treatment of the character is like that of a hero.” He goes on: “As far as essaying the role is concerned, even though I did my own research, Kangana made my job easy by providing me with her interpretation and the homework that she had done.” “That’s why it was easy to step into the shoes of J. All you need to know about dementia in dogs 18

In this month’s article, we will be discussing a common condition found in canines, known as “Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome”. In simple terms, one can refer to this condition as Dog Dementia as well. Yes, this is similar to the condition that we can see in humans, as they also age with time.

T

his syndrome correlates with the aging of the dog’s brain, which causes them to eventually lose their sharp

awareness of their surroundings, learning capabilities, responsiveness and even memory.

The symptoms will first appear to be of a mild state; however, they will progress with time and unfortunately worsen and become more severe. This process is known as ‘Cognitive Decline’. The signs of this condition are anxiety, restlessness, not wishing to play anymore, slow to learn new training, disorientation, decreased grooming, confusion, forgetting previous training, no control over urinating or defecating, sleep patterns

altered, decreased appetite, excessive licking, frustration and barking. According to statistics, it is seen that at least one out of every three dogs that are over the age of ten will display at least one sign of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome. If you feel that your dog may be showing any of these signs, then your veterinarian can perform a full physical examination. He or she will also need a full history of when the symptom(s) initially presented themselves, in order to conduct a proper diagnosis of this condition. Other diagnostic measures may also be performed in order to rule out any other underlying causes for such exhibiting signs. Canines that are diagnosed with Dog Dementia will then begin a long-term treatment of supportive care for this condition. Such care will consist of improving your dog’s living environment and health in order to maintain an ideal condition for improvement. This will allow the Cognitive Decline to

be delayed and not progress as quickly otherwise. Changes in exercise routine, playing time and also training, or needing to train again, will be introduced as well. Other adjustments that can be made to facilitate a dog with this condition is to provide night lights for your canine companion to navigate throughout the house easier in the dark. Place training pads near your dog so that there is a place for him or her to use the washroom in case of an emergency, where they cannot control their urination or bowel movement. Certain medications or behavioural treatments may also be advised by your veterinarian based on the individual case of your pet. Diet is also a key component to managing a better lifestyle. Certain supplements can also be added to the diet regiment in order to help with your dog’s cognitive function. Such as: Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Selenium, Beta Carotene, Carotenoids, Flavonoids, Omega-3 and Carnitine. Follow-up appointments with your veterinarian may be needed regularly.

Increasing the heat setting to an unacceptably high level It’s tempting to set a curling wand’s temperature to the maximum setting. Extreme damage can be caused by too much heat in a short period of time. Experts advise against using a heat tool with a temperature of 400 degrees, regardless of how thin or thick your hair is (the maximum on most tools). Nancy and I began having a very blessed life. Sam loved Nancy so much that sometimes my eyes welled up with happiness. I often prayed to god that Sam and Nancy not be adversely affected by even my pleasure that I was deriving from their love. Sam began caring and loving us so much that he made me forget all my past sorrows. Sam tried to give us time as much as possible. After two months of our reunion, it was summer time. Despite his busy work, Sam took a few days off and took us to Toronto by air. We visited CN tower. I was astonished to see its height. We went up there by an elevator. Nancy and I saw through the glass floor and saw people, vehicles and other places, looking like very small toys down on the ground. We were unable to

believe our eyes. The next day, we visited the Niagara Falls. Its beauty was awesome. I remembered didi had told me that the water was coming from Lake Erie and going to Lake Ontario. We also had the ferry ride there. Nancy and I were very happy that day, and Sam was very happy to see us glad. The next day, we came to Edmonton by air. We saw the mall where indoor beach had been made under a roof. Nancy, Sam and I enjoyed the artificial tides there. I cannot express how beautiful my world had turned. All three of us were very fond of joy rides. We also enjoyed the rides in the mall. Nancy was very happy with Sam. I was overjoyed to see Nancy so happy. We returned to Surrey after having a very sweet memorable trip.

Sam went to his work the next day. I told Meenu and her mom-in-law about our pleasure trip. They were very happy for us. Sam had shown us another part of heaven in Canada. “Sam, I have something to give you a happy news.”, I said shyly to Sam the other day when he came home from work. “Sonia, you and Nancy have come back in my life, what else could be happier for me than that?”, Sam said turning romantic with me. When was the last time you heard a man discussing his sexual wellness in a peer group or a social setting, or even with his loved ones? Chances are, you’ve never heard of such a thing. These conversations, while critical, just do not happen.

While as individuals, we are hardwired to share our issues with our near and dear ones, certain conversations still take place in hushed tones. Sexual wellness is one such topic. Since such issues are not spoken about and people refrain from seeking treatment due to a lack of awareness and right online platforms in the country. Performance Pressure Sexual health and effectiveness are taboo in society and specifically for men for various reasons. It is often assumed that sexual activity comes more naturally to men than women. While that is untrue, this notion gets even more troublesome when men aren’t able to perform in bed. Men suffer from performance anxiety a lot more than women, which is a leading cause of erectile dysfunction.

Erectile Dysfunction The commonly used term for ED is impotence. The mere association of this word with men arouses discomfort in social circles and, more often than not, leads to a scarred image. But the problem is not as rare, just less talked about. Trouble maintaining an erection could very well be caused by fibrosis or atrophy, which is a sufficiently organic process but could also be caused due to drugs or smoke. Another myth surrounding men’s sexual health is that ED is a psychological disorder. While the cause could be neurological, the issue needs to be probed for clarity and subsequent treatment. Low Libido Libido comes naturally to all genders, given they’re in a suitable space in their head. Sexual pleasure is a recreational activity that does not need to be and ideally is not supposed to be imposed upon anyone. So, not being in the right mind space, like experiencing stress or anxiety, could lead to low libido. There could be very many reasons that need to get checked by an expert. Premature Ejaculation Generally, one out of three men has been known to complain about premature orgasm. This creates a lot of pressure upon men as they feel they’re somehow incapable of pleasing their women. This further causes a loss of self-confidence, adversely impacting their mental health and even leading to severe problems.

Gout is a common and complex form of arthritis that can affect anyone. It’s characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, swelling, redness and tenderness in one or more joints, most often in the big toe.

People with gout can develop more-severe conditions, such as: Recurrent gout: Some people may never experience gout signs and symptoms again. Others may experience gout several times each year. Medications may help prevent gout attacks in people with recurrent gout. If left untreated, gout can cause erosion and destruction of a joint. Advanced gout: Untreated gout may cause deposits of urate crystals to form under the skin in nodules called tophi (TOE-fie). Tophi can develop in several areas, such as your fingers, hands, feet, elbows or Achilles tendons along the backs of your ankles. Tophi usually aren’t painful, but they can become swollen and tender during gout attacks. Kidney stones: Urate crystals may collect in the urinary tracts of people with gout, causing kidney stones. Medications can help reduce the risk of kidney stones. Diagnosis Doctors usually diagnose gout based on your symptoms and the appearance of the affected joint. Tests to help diagnose gout may include: Joint fluid test: Your doctor may use a needle to draw fluid from your affected joint. Urate crystals may be visible when the fluid is examined under a microscope. Blood test: Your doctor may recommend a blood test to measure the levels of uric acid in your blood. Blood test results can be misleading, though. Some people have high uric acid levels, but never experience gout. And some people have signs and symptoms of gout, but don’t have unusual levels of uric acid in their blood. X-ray imaging: Joint X-rays can be helpful to rule out other causes of joint inflammation. Ultrasound: This test uses sound waves to dewww.entertainmentmagazine.ca

Drugs used to treat gout flares and prevent future attacks include: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): NSAIDs include over-the-counter options such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve), as well as more-powerful prescription NSAIDs such as indomethacin (Indocin, Tivorbex) or celecoxib (Celebrex). NSAIDs carry risks of stomach pain, bleeding and ulcers. Colchicine: Your doctor may recommend colchicine (Colcrys, Gloperba, Mitigare), an anti-inflammatory drug that effectively reduces gout pain. The drug’s effectiveness may be offset, however, by side effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Corticosteroids: Corticosteroid medications, such as prednisone, may control gout inflammation and pain. Corticosteroids may be in pill form, or they can be injected into your joint. Side effects of corticosteroids may include mood changes, increased blood sugar levels and elevated blood pressure. Medications to prevent gout complications If you experience several gout attacks each year, or if your gout attacks are less frequent but particularly painful, your doctor may recommend medication to reduce your risk of gout-related complications. If you already have evidence of damage from gout on joint X-rays, or you have tophi, chronic kidney disease or kidney stones, medications to lower your body’s level of uric acid may be recommended. Medications that block uric acid production: Drugs such as allopurinol (Aloprim, Lopurin, Zyloprim) and febuxostat (Uloric) help limit the amount of uric acid your body makes. Side effects of allopurinol include fever, rash, hepatitis and kidney problems. Febuxostat side effects include rash, nausea and reduced liver function. Febuxostat also may increase the risk of heart-related death. Medications that improve uric acid removal: Drugs such as probenecid (Probalan) help improve your kidneys’ ability to remove uric acid

from your body. Side effects include a rash, stomach pain and kidney stones. Lifestyle and home remedes Medications are often the most effective way to treat gout attacks and prevent recurrent symptom flares. However, lifestyle choices also are important, and you may want to: Choose healthier beverages: Limit alcoholic beverages and drinks sweetened with fruit sugar (fructose). Instead, drink plenty of nonalcoholic beverages, especially water. Avoid foods high in purines: Red meat and organ meats, such as liver, are especially high in purines. Purine-rich seafood includes anchovies, sardines, mussels, scallops, trout and tuna. Low-fat dairy products may be a better source of protein for people prone to gout. Exercise regularly and lose weight: Keeping your body at a healthy weight reduces your risk of gout. Choose low-impact activities such as walking, bicycling and swimming — which are easier on your joints.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, components from SG Micro have passed quality certification for the high-end iPhone 14 models, indicating that the Chinese company has been greenlighted to supply components for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

outh Korean tech giant Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphones, which is all set to release on August 10, may start at 1,080 euros ($1,103 approx) in the European market. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 may come at three internal storage variants -- 128GB, 256GB and 512GB -- for 1,080.90 euros, 1,158.89 euros and 1,275.89 euros, respectively. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 with 256GB and 512GB internal storage may come at 1,864 euros and 1,982 euros, respectively, GSMArena reported. Meanwhile, Samsung’s next-generation smartwatch Galaxy Watch5 40mm (BT only version) will go for 259 euros ($264 approx), while the 44mm model may come at 286 euros. The Watch5 Pro’s price tag will supposedly be 430 euros for the 45mm BT-only option, which is a slight price bump from last year. The report mentioned that the pricing details come from a “reliable European retailer”, which usually gets its prices right, citing reports. Two officers with SPS’s Indigenous Relations Unit joined the Pulling Together Canoe Journey this July along with local Indigenous youth from the Blue Eagles Cadets program. This ten-day journey represents reconciliation between Indigenous communities and law enforcement

through relationship building and active engagement. For SPS officers responding to calls for service and for officers focused on outreach efforts, community engagement and open dialogue are part of the foundation of Surrey Police Service. For the first time after remaining under British rule for nearly 200 years, the nation witnessed the sun of Independence on August 15, 1947, when the nation’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, unfurled the national tricolour at the Lahori Gate of the Red Fort. On the morning of August 14, the PM delivered his unforgettable speech and said, “Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny and now that time comes when we shall redeem our pledge. Adoption of the Indian National Anthem When India gained independence, it did not have an official national anthem. The song Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata, composed by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911, was renamed Jan Gan Man and adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the national anthem on January 24, 1950. First flag was hoisted in Kolkata According to historians, the first national flag in India was hoisted on August 7, 1906, in Parsee Bagan Square (Green Park) in Calcutta, now Kolkata. The flag was composed of three horizontal stripes of red, yellow and green, while Vande Mataram was scripted on the middle strip. Tricolour as India’s national flag In 1931, a resolution was passed adopting a tricolour flag as our national flag. The flag, forebear of the present one, was saffron, white, and green, with Mahatma Gandhi’s spinning wheel at the centre. Later, on July 22, 1947, the Constituent Assembly adopted tricolour as the Free India National Flag. However, it replaces the spinning wheel on the flag with the Dharma Charkha of Emperor Asoka as the emblem on the flag. The first variant of our current national flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya in 1921. Why was August 15 chosen?

At night, moisturiser is applied, and during the day, sunscreen is applied. Men who want to look their best don’t take this step lightly. Sunscreen prevents uneven skin tone and fine lines caused by sun damage, as well as wrinkles and signs of ageing. One layer in the morning before leaving the house, and another every four hours. When you’re sleeping, your body regenerates cells at the fastest rate. A nutrient-dense moisturiser will hydrate and nourish your skin. The University of North Carolina’s findings shows that hugging can keep us healthier by increasing white blood cells in the body.
