He says “ever since as a child, all I did was talk about cars, play with cars and dismantle toy cars as I was curious on how they were put together. My cousins and I would get together at family gatherings, and our conversations revolved around only cars. New cars that had just come out to older cars that we thought were cool. My mom and dad always told me I should sell cars since I loved them so much. I never took it seriously until my dad asked Raj Desor, the New Car Sales Manager to hire me as a lot staff at Brian Jessel BMW. Being around the business made me interested in wanting to pursue selling cars.

He says being at Brian Jessel is fun as every day is different for the team. It is a fast-paced environment with a lot going on from sales to service. He says, “we have new inventory daily which gives us an upper hand as compared to other such Pre-Owned automobile dealerships as there is a lot of quality cars that come in regularly.” “I like to stay on top of new arrivals for my clients. We always have something different to sell at our store since we are the Pre-Owned location. We have a wide selection of inventory that comes in. From cheaper cars that are $10,000-20,000 range to and upwards of $200,000. To me selling these new arrivals on the first day they come in is always a fun experience”, he added. Akash’s journey started almost a decade back and there was no looking back ever since. “I started out as a lot staff member and did that role for 9 months. I then moved on to weekend lot supervisor for over a year. In 2014 I took up a new position for BMW

which was the “Product Genius” role. This was for the all new i3 and i8 BMW’s that would be introduced to the brand’s lineup. I then took on two more roles as a delivery specialist and customer relations executive to assist the clients who had purchased new/ pre-owned vehicles”. It was his zeal for his job that made him succeed and achieve new goals. Almost a decade later, he is considered as the best sales master at BMW’s pre-owned car service. “2015 was my first year in sales. I finished # 1 in Canada and got the title for BMW Canada Gold Sales Master. I won the # 1 spot in Canada 3 years in a row (2015-2017) and I have been a Gold Sales master all 6 years finishing 3rd in 2018 and 2nd in 2019 and 2020.” All in all, the journey has been amazing, and Brian Jessel BMW has offered me opportunities to grow and excel. Hailing from a Sikh family, Akash was born and raised in Vancouver. His maternal family was based out of England and his father moved to Canada in 1984 from India and gave the best education and values to their children. Apart from being a dedicated

Talking about challenges at work, he says, “I don’t feel we have real challenges at work, we have a good manager in Steve Geisberecht who takes the challenging problems off my plate and lets me focus on what I need to do. I like to plan my days ahead to avoid last minute confusion and delays in my performance.” He also believes that a good team makes all the difference at work. Achieving long term as well as short team goals is only possible because of a good team. He says “I believe behind a successful organization, it’s a complete team effort. The sales team is important but without a great support staff we don’t run on all cylinders. Our receptionist is very important from taking incoming calls to greeting customers. Our lot staff are important because they help clean our cars and have them presentable for clients as well as getting them cleaned up when sold. Our staff behind the scenes who help stock inventory and take pictures of the cars and ensure the new stock inventory gets through service and reconditioning in a timely manner.” He assures that Brian Jessel BMW is the best and most genuine when it comes to providing services as with no pressure sales tactics, he believes the “difference at Brian Jessel is you will have a salesperson tell you don’t buy a car if it’s not the right one. Instead of rushing the deal and being unhappy with it. Let’s take the time to find the right car and deal. This makes the customer appreciate you more and come back for their future purchases.” He signed off!

Talking about a typical day at work, he says, “I indulge in a lot of follow up. Talking to several clients a day. Keeping in touch with previous clients who have purchased cars and connecting with them to ensure they are still happy. Anupam Kher:

There are no shortcuts in acting

eteran actor Anupam Kher says there are no shortcuts to becoming a good actor, and one has to work hard and keep practicing.

Offering a piece of advice for budding actors, Kher shared: “Acting has no syllabus, that’s why people come up with best performances even at the age of 80 or later. My advice to budding actors is that they have to practice their art constantly. It is something the more you practice, the better you will become. You have to work hard. It is every day’s job for them to keep understanding, and to do the same thing again and again.”

Jimmy Sheirgill: Actors now have another option with OTT

ctor Jimmy Sheirgill is three web-series old and is looking forward for more opportunities on the platform. He has played pivotal roles in series like “Rangaaz Phirse”, “Your honour” and the recent “Collar Bomb”. “I like the digital space. For actors I think we have got another option now to look at. When an actor is offered a script for a commercial film, we feel that this particular character I have done it before. At the same time we have an option which is from an OTT platform where the story and character is different,”Jimmy told in an interview. He added: “There is scope of experimentation or trying something new and interesting. Now, actors can go ahead and choose whichever is better for them.” With the long form content on web series, Jimmy feels that there is more depth in the characters. The actor shared that he will be doing a project with Pushpendra Nath Misra, director of web series “Taj Mahal 1989”. “Web series have more time to tell the story. The characters are more etched out and have more screen time.” He added: “Both the mediums have their own charm. The OTT has done wonders for us while we were locked down in our house and got entertained by the OTT. So many people got hooked on watching series and different subjects. “Also, they have to develop a keen interest in people, because people, various people, are the bank of actors. The more they will know people, the more they will know emotion, the more they will know various aspects of anger, nine Rasas. On the work front, Kher features as an anchor in the recently released documentary

film “Bhuj: The Day India Shook”. Sharing his experience of being a part of the project, the actor said: “In a project like this, ‘not acting’ is the most important thing. You have to first understand the essence of it. You are like a ‘sutradhar’, a narrator who has a soul, who empathises with them, who does not indulge in self-pity. It is like when you do meditation, in a state of meditation you have to say things that people relate to. You can’t fake it.” “It is something that comes with experience as a person, not necessarily as an actor. It comes from a word called empathy. That’s how I approached it with a total sense of purity. In my mind it was a tribute to all the people that suffered losses,” he further said. Quizzed what intrigued him to take part in the documentary film, Kher replied: “It was easy to say that I want to do this Discovery project. It’s historically and geographically a very important incident, not only in India but anywhere in the world, speaks about how we are at the brink of any disaster happening, how life can be totally changed.” “Bhuj: The Day India Shook” streams on the OTT platform Discovery.

Parineeti Chopra: Playing Saina Nehwal was fulfilling

ctress Parineeti Chopra says that watching her movie “Saina” on television is going to be a fulfilling experience. She recalls the days she spent preparing for the role. While sharing her experience, Parineeti says: “’Saina’ has inspired millions and it was extremely fulfilling to play her on screen. It took blood and sweat to transform myself. I vividly remember spending my days as an athlete and even crying out of pain on the court. But it was all worth it. Saina Nehwal was my initial guiding force. Priyanka Chopra even gave me pointers on how to mould myself for the role, since she played a sports character in the past.” Ace badminton player Saina Nehwal says it was surreal to see her own life on screen. She is delighted looking at Amole Gupte’s creative vision, Parineeti and

child actor Naishaa’s portrayal of her character. “This experience of rewatching my journey has made me realise that sure, hard work and talent is what drives you to live your dreams, but one of the most important aspects is the support system. I am indebted to my parents, my husband and coaches as without them, my life wouldn’t be the same. They constantly motivated me and pushed me to chase my dreams, and that’s what kept me going on the most difficult days. Never a bad time to be a singer

eha Kakkar is fast emerging a onewoman industry of sorts, belting out hits with astonishing regularity and currently ruling the roost. She says it is never a bad time to be a singer in the industry. Over the past years, she has delivered backto-back hits that include film songs such as “Garmi”, “Dilbar” and “O saki saki”.

Asked if it is a good time to be a singer in the industry, Neha told in an interview: “It’s never a bad time to be a singer in the industry, that’s for sure. How unique you are matters but most of all, it’s important to be a good human being. All our friends in the music industry are really nice and we wish them success.” In a very short time, Neha has become the undisputed queen of remixes. Before making her debut in Bollywood, Neha and her siblings Tony and Sonu Kakkar sang at jagratas. She looks back at her journey from singing at jagratas to being one of Bollywood’s top singers, and calls it a “humbling” one. “It’s been hard work, and honest work. The journey has been humbling and it’s so valuable

for me to be able to measure how we have grown. My fans make my journey worth it, too!” she said.

With success comes criticism. Neha, who recently got married to singer Rohanpreet Singh, has often been trolled on social media and has also been a material to memes and jokes. How does she not get affected by the heavy trolling on social media? “Work hard, stay honest, stay humble, be open to growing and never lose faith,” she replied. What’s next for Neha? The 33-year-old singer said: “There are a lot of things in the pipeline, you will get to know very soon with a big announcement.” Neha recently performed on the app MX Takatak, and she says: “To have such an extensive line-up across 52 weeks is unheard of in the digital space. Shailene Woodley is in no rush to get married

“Big Little Lies” actress Shailene Woodley, who confirmed her engagement to National Football League (NFL) star Aaron Rodgers in February, says she is in no rush to get married. “There’s no wedding planning happening. There’s no rush. We’ve got no rush,” Woodley told “Entertainment Tonight”, reports femalefirst.co.uk. The actress will next be seen in the romantic film “The Last Letter From Your Lover”. The film is set in the 1960s and sees her character Jennifer embroiled in a love triangle with husband Laurence (Joe Alwyn) and her admirer Anthony (Callum Turner). She said she jumped at the chance to work with director Augustine Frizzell in the film, because it was a project that appealed to her love of “love”. She said: “I love love and I love

I had met Augustine a few months prior to reading the script and I really just fell in love with her entire being and what she was about and the way she saw the world and I thought she was just a really groovy, unique chick in this industry.” “I got sent the script, because she was involved, and fell in love with the storyline and fell in love with specifically the two characters of Anthony and Jennifer because there’s such a deep intrinsic connection between the two of them, and it seems like life wanted them to stay apart. Julia Roberts video on environment conservation generates buzz again

A

n old video of actress Julia Roberts on environment conservation has started generating buzz again as it trended on social media.

The video, which was uploaded on the YouTube channel of the organisation Conservative International six years ago has got people discussing the issue once again. Incidentally, the video had gone viral in April 2020, too. In the video, which is one minute and 58 seconds long, the actress speaks from the point of view of Mother Earth. She says in the video: “Some call me nature, others call me mother nature. I have been here

Life isn’t easy and is complicated with many disappointments but if you don’t let go of the bad parts, you’ll never accept and love yourself. Take one bad habit a month and try to get rid of it. Don’t focus on getting approval from others Everyone’s life comes with their own set of problems, for which they have to bear the consequences. Rather than being concerned about what others think about you, focus on how you are going to get through a difficult day. It’s only one life that you get and it absolutely isn’t worth wasting on being approved by others around you. 3. Stay away from negative people Keep your distance from people who don’t want you to succeed. It might difficult to

recognize them at first, so take your time and analyze their behavior. If there’s a particular person who sounds jealous when you talk about something good that happened to you or always gives you negative comments, then that person may not be someone you should have in your life. 4. Forgive your past mistakes The only way to truly move on to the better things in life is by forgiving yourself for your past mistakes. Instead of dwelling in the past and feeling guilty for all the things that you did wrong, learn from your mistakes and make sure they aren’t repeated. You should also be prepared for the mistakes that you might make in the future and make sure you let them go as well. After all, to err is human. 6. Do something that makes you happy You can truly appreciate yourself and your life when you are doing something that makes you happy. For that to happen, understand the difference between gratifying exhaustion and empty fatigue. Gratifying exhaustion comes from chasing something you feel passionate about and taking a step

towards your goal. On the other hand, empty fatigue is an outcome of doing something that isn’t inspiring but you are doing it anyway. Don’t spend the precious years of your life doing something you don’t want to do. It might take time to quit what you are currently doing but once you are through with it, everything will be possible. 7. Create your own path before helping others Being a person who enjoys helping others is a great quality but don’t keep their priorities above yours. Help someone out when you are satisfied with what you are

doing with the life you have got. Helping others by sacrificing isn’t the way to go. Lend someone money when you don’t have any financial problems. Give your time to help someone only when you have enough time to finish up your own work. Follow your heart and accept who you are. Add a planner section to the journal where you can write down your goals and divide them into smaller ones. Make sure you strikeout on every goal whenever you achieve it.

If you like to run, go on a jog once in a day. You can also do yoga, if you find it relaxing. In case you have been feeling too stressed, you should let yourself go and relax a bit, only to get back to your work feeling rejuvenated and more productive. Engage in activities that make you feel good about yourself, whether it’s drawing, cycling, or even visiting the beach. You can also include meditation as part of your daily routine. 8. Ask for feedback Ask friends and colleagues at work what they think about you and if there’s something you should change. Make sure you tell them that they can be completely honest with you because you are looking for an opportunity to grow. Remember, self-improvement is a part growing up, so don’t give up without a fight.

Ajay Bisaria, High Commissioner of India to Canada, recently concluded a successful visit to Vancouver aimed primarily at encouraging and promoting bilateral trade and investment opportunities between India and Canada. Commenced on July 19, the week-long visit concluded on July 25. “India Canada relations are multifaceted and growing stronger by the day. As large democracies and major G-20 countries we have much to collaborate on, particularly as the world grapples with the pandemic,” said High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria. “India and Canada are consulting not only on the health and medical aspects of dealing with the pandemic but also on the subsequent economic recovery and in building a post-COVID mechanism that safeguards us against such future shocks.” During the visit High Commissioner Bisaria met and interacted with a cross-section of people from the Greater Vancouver area, including, political leaders, Canadian business leaders, IndoCanadian business leaders, heads of educational institutions and diaspora members.

All you need to know about the Toxic Household Items for Pets

I

n this month’s article we will be discussing common items that can be found in the average household that one should be wary of around dogs or cats. These are toxic things that often are fed to pets unknowingly by their owners. A common misconception is seen when owners feel that their pets can tolerate certain foods that they can as humans; however, this is not always applied when it comes to the anatomy of our pets.

Common household food items that should be avoided: Chocolate, Onions, Alcohol, Grapes, Raisins, Caffeinated beverages, Macadamia nuts, Cherry pits, Xylitol (commonly found in sugar-free chewing gum), raw yeast dough or raw/undercooked meat. When such toxic foods are ingested, the most common initial signs are seen in the Gastrointestinal system. These signs would present commonly as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, dry heaving, loss of

appetite or extreme salivation. In more extreme cases, your pet may also exhibit internal bleeding consequently. This would result in physical signs of weakness, lethargy, collapsing, pale gums, fast heart rate and coughing up or vomiting blood. If your pet shows

any of the signs listed above at any time, it is highly advised to see your local veterinarian as soon as possible. Along with food items, there are also many types of common household medications that can also be very toxic to your pets. Often owners will feel that a simple problem in their pet might be treatable in the same way that it can often in humans; however, this is very inaccurate and can prove to be deadly towards your pet. Such medications are Ibuprofen, Cold medications, Naproxen, heart medications, ADHD medications, antidepressants and herbal supplements. Ibuprofen and Naproxen fall under the drug category of Nonsteroidal antiinflammatories. Giving such medications to your pet without consulting your veterinarian can

result in acute kidney failure. Therefore, it is detrimental to make sure that such medications and foods are kept out of reach of your pet and in closed cupboards. One of the most common poisonings seen in dogs and cats are caused by rodenticides. Rodenticides are commonly found in mouse/rat traps around the house. The chemical in the traps causes the trapped rodents to suffer from internal bleeding, brain swelling, high calcium levels and toxic gas production. Similarly, when ingested by your pet accidently, the same symptoms can occur. We highly recommend to avoid buying mouse traps with rodenticides in order to help your pet from avoiding such a fatal occurrence. It is also more humane to trap the rodent and set them free away from your residence, rather than having them suffer in such a manner. Garden products used in lawns and flower beds can also prove to be very toxic to your pets as well. Fertilizers that are made from bone or blood meal products can tempt your pets to ingest them, causing blockages or problems in the pancreas. Common household plants that are toxic to your pets are Lily of the valley, Sago palm, Tulips, Hyacinth, Daffodils, Cyclamen, Lilies, Oleander, Autumn Crocus, Azalea, Dieffenbachia, Kalanchoe and others.

Hiding from your partner In a romantic relationship, honesty is equivalent to intimacy and trust. When you are completely honest with your partner, you get close with each other and that’s when your bond grows. Consider lying as relationship termites, which gradually degrades your relationship until it finally breaks apart. This brings us to emotional honesty, which is one of the pillars of a strong relationship. Only when you are connected with your inner self, you will be able to connect with your partner and succeed in life. You would have heard several times that a damaged relationship can’t be fixed. Even though the statement is true, you can always go back to how things were. It will take some efforts and but it starts with being honest about your mistakes. Some things that you might want to hide your partner include your past, your dreams and aspirations, financial status, and food intake. A relationship evolves gradually and to make your bond stronger, you have to open up about all these things. Hiding or lying is only going to make the relationship fall apart. When you are being dishonest, you are simply controlling the experience someone else has of you. You create a fake world for your partner, which sucks out

the intimate experience from your relationship. Gradually, the trust with fade away because your partner will eventually find out about the truth. It will also stop you from being completely invested in your relationship and enjoying every second of it. Being open from the beginning Your past experiences might cause you to build a protective wall around you but when you enter a relationship, you can peel it one brick at a time. Be open to your partner and tell them that some experiences from the past have changed you but with their help, you will try becoming your original self. Take the things at a pace you are comfortable with and discuss every little thing with your partner. Only when the two of you are on the page, you will stop lying or hiding things from each other. Communicate your smallest to your biggest insecurities with your partner and reciprocate in the same way. sore injection site, pain in the injected arm, mild fever, moderate fatigue, headaches, chills, and even diarrhoea are symptoms commonly seen after administration of the Covid-19 vaccine. While one may have taken the right step towards protection from the virus, doctors say the post-vaccination symptoms can be managed at home. According to Sujeet Ranjan, Executive Director of The Coalition for Food and Nutrition Security (CFNS), after vaccination, staying on site for monitoring is crucial. The healthcare provider should observe you for about 30 minutes after the vaccine is administered to make sure there are no immediate reactions. However, it is extremely rare to have severe health reactions.

Doctors’ advice for post-vaccine care at home bay, say doctors.

“Vaccines are designed to give immunity without the dangers of getting the disease. While it’s normal to build immunity without side effects, it is also common to experience some mild-to-moderate side effects that go away within a few days on their own,” Ranjan told IANSlife.

“Fatigue, headache and body weakness are a few ailments that can be noticed post the vaccination. Adequate water intake is important to stay hydrated. Alongside proper sleep, a balanced diet, less strenuous exercise and low intake of caffeine is recommended. A suitable tablet can be taken to reduce the body pain,” says the physician.

Tejaswini Deepak, Physician, Apollo Spectra Hospital, Koramangala, Bengaluru, says that getting vaccinated does not guarantee full immunity against the virus but it is a wise decision to get the dose to move towards a collective fight against this pandemic. The vaccine has mild side effects depending on the body of an individual and these symptoms can be easily managed at home.

“The pain at the local injection site usually resolves within one day, while fever and body ache resolve in 2-3 days. First of all, you should not worry about the side effects and be completely relaxed as these are minor side effects. For pain at the injection site, you can keep a wet cloth (cool) or if necessary some medicines to reduce pain. For fever, you should take antipyretics

(medicines to reduce fever) and keep yourself hydrated. You are also advised rest, in case of fever. “You should avoid googling about side effects and try to manage it by yourself. We have seen that people panic after reading up on the internet and this leads to irrational and harmful practices. Better to consult a physician. If you have any other side effect, or if the pain persists beyond one day or the fever persists beyond 2-3 days, you need to consult a physician,” said Khan Amir Maroof, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, University College of Medical Sciences and GTB Hospital, Delhi. Keeping a clean wet cloth on the vaccinated arm helps to reduce the pain, swelling and the redness. It also helps to keep the infections at

The day before vaccination, keep yourself hydrated, get 8 hours sleep and have a light meal just before going for the vaccination. Wear loose clothes especially on

If you have any history of prior allergic reaction to any medication then make sure to tell the concerned authorities at the centre. While at the centre follow all Covid protocols like wearing a double mask, don’t touch the front part of the mask, don’t touch surfaces, maintain social distance After taking the vaccine, wait for at least 30 minutes, because most of the adverse effects appear in the first 30 minutes. After going home if you experience any symptoms like fever, body pains, headaches, joint pains then take a suitable tablet after consulting and

informing your gynaecologist.

If you have a sore forearm then applying a heat pack will provide a lot of relief. Continue your supplementation of iron, calcium along vitamin E and vitamin D to recovery faster. Rest the entire day and keep yourself hydrated the day you get your vaccination If you are in your last trimester then take a note of fetal movements. simple tweak to the sleeping patterns of ‘night owls’ – people with extreme late sleeping and waking habits – may improve performance in the mornings, and reduce depression and stress, a study has found. The research, published in the journal Sleep Medicine, showed that, over a three-week period, it was possible to shift the circadian rhythm of ‘night owls’ using nonpharmacological and practical interventions. The researchers from University of Birmingham and University of Surrey in the UK, and Monash University in Australia, showed that participants were able to bring forward their sleep/wake timings by two hours, while having no negative effect on sleep duration.

Twenty-two healthy individuals participated in the study. For a period of three weeks participants in the experimental group were asked to wake up 2-3 hours before regular wake up time and maximise outdoor light during the mornings. The were also asked to go to bed 2-3 hours before habitual bedtime and limit light exposure in the

evening; keep sleep/wake times fixed on both work days and free days; have breakfast as soon as possible after waking up, eat lunch at the same time each day, and refrain from eating dinner after 7 pm. The results highlighted an increase in cognitive (reaction time) and physical (grip strength) performance during the morning when tiredness is often very high in ‘night owls’, as well as a shift in peak performance times from evening to afternoon. It also increased the number of days in which breakfast was consumed and led to better mental well-being, with participants reporting a decrease in feelings of stress and depression. Source: IANS

Salted Caramel Apple Pie • 1 tsp sea salt Preheat oven to 180c/360F. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt and pulse until combined. Then slowly add the butter, pulsing until you get a coarse meal. Then slowly add the ice water and pulse until a dough ball form. Flatten dough into disks, wrap in wax paper and pop in the fridge for at least 10-15 minutes.

Filling • 6 apples • 2 tbsp water • 3 tbsp cornstarch • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon • 3/4 cup vegan (coconut) caramel sauce • 1 tsp sea salt. Peel and core the apples, then chop into chunks. Mix the water with the cornstarch

Wet ingredients: • 1 1/2 cups plant-based milk (360 ml) • 1 small banana (80 g) (or apple sauce) • 1 tbsp lemon juice or lime juice • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract • Oil for frying

Symptoms Heart disease symptoms depend on what type of heart disease one has.

Symptoms of heart disease in your blood vessels A buildup of fatty plaques in your arteries, or atherosclerosis (ath-ur-o-skluhROE-sis) can damage your blood vessels and heart. Plaque buildup causes narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. Coronary artery disease symptoms may be different for men and women. For instance, men are more likely to have chest pain. Women are more likely to have other signs and symptoms along with chest discomfort, such as shortness of breath, nausea and extreme fatigue. Signs and symptoms can include: 4 Chest pain, chest tightness, chest pressure and chest discomfort (angina) 4 Shortness of breath 4 Pain, numbness, weakness or coldness in your legs or arms if the blood vessels in those parts of your body are narrowed 4 Pain in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen or back You might not be diagnosed with coronary artery disease until you have a heart attack, angina, stroke or heart failure. The government is investing endless efforts every now and then to help the immigrants settle in Canada and continuing the tradition of building a culturally diverse nation. Keeping up the trend of introducing new immigration policies and pathways amid the COVID-19 challenges, the government recently announced two major updates in July 2021: • Open work permit for TR to PR applicants

• Parents and Grandparents Program 2021 15th July 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada

announced open work permit eligibility for the applicants and their dependents (18 years or above) who are awaiting decision on their TR to PR applications. Applicants eligible under

this category can only apply if: a) they have a valid proof of authorization to work in Canada, b) their work permit is expiring within four months, c) they have a valid or implied status or are eligible to restore their status, d) their language proficiency test scores meet the criteria for TR to PR pathway, e) they were employed at the time of their TR to PR application submission, and f) they are in Canada at the time of the work permit application submission. More guidelines for this program will be updated on July 26, 2021, on IRCC’s official website: www.cic. gc.ca. The startling fact about this news release was that as soon as the announcement regarding this policy was made, the quota for the ‘essential, non-health care’ workers under the TR to PR policy was cap reached within few hours. Moving forward to another news breakthrough for July 2021, the minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada recently announced that IRCC will shortly resume the lottery system

for PGP program again and aims at inviting around 30,000 Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents to submit the sponsorship applications for their parents and grandparents. The lottery pool will only include the sponsors who submitted an interest form last year between October 2020 to November 2020. The random selection and further invitations will be sent in September 2021 after which the sponsors will have 60 days to submit the applications. IRCC will assess the eligibility based on income of the sponsors for the year 2018, 2019 and 2020. Pertaining to financial restrictions due to COVID-19, additional 30% to the minimum necessary income will not be included for the year 2020 only and the benefits claimed during the pandemic will count towards the sponsor’s income. Those who are not eligible for the program this year, can apply for the Super Visa for their Parents and Grandparents which will allow them multiple entries for a period of 10 years, and they can reside in Canada for 2 years. With over 50% of residents being vaccinated and businesses, travel and life resuming back to normal, IRCC is doing every effort of assisting temporary residents, who provided incredible and noteworthy services during the pandemic, to become the permanent residents of Canada.
